if you make a mistake with applique cutting the fabric to close to the line - finish the project and don't unhoop it! you can easily fix it and save the day!!
Thank you for sharing your Genius problem solving. It really helps that your walked and talked us through your entire thought process of this solution. Stupendous Stitching!
Thank you Sue, I think all of us at one time or another has been confronted with an "oops" moment and that dreadful heart sinking feeling. It is wonderful to see you think outside the box with a solution. Machine embroidery is not perfectionism it is creativity and this is a "creative" solution. Brilliant!
Exactly!!! mistakes happen, and if you can figure out an easy save, then try - you don't have anything to lose! The gorgeous monogram is from Shuler Studios www.shulerstudio.com/monogram-chic-font-embroidery-package
it happens!!! this happened while filming, of course near the end. If the camera was on me, you would have seen a sad/mad face, LOL. Thanks for sharing!! hopefully your friend can fix it! i saw it suggested here and in the OML Embroidery University facebook group that if you have already taken the coaster out of the hoop, try some fancy sewing machine stitches.
I find that if you tack the batting down first, I always use 2 passes of this step, then trim it, then repeat to add the fabric with 2 passes, it is much easier to trim the fabric and less chance of cutting too close.
I was so happy that I could fix it. The gorgeous interlocked monogram is from Shuler Studios - my favorite source for stunning monograms. www.shulerstudio.com/monogram-chic-font-embroidery-package
thank you Susanne! you will love the monograms at Shuler Studios. They are stunning - I could not resist getting them. People notice them and I get so many compliments.
I wonder if in the dream machine you can create a stamp in IQ designer of the outline and then pull it up in IQ and make it smaller and add a stitch from there also maybe the candle wick or chain? Yours look so nice and a great idea thank you
This is such a good way to overcome these issues but, unfortunately, I haven't got any digitising software. It is all far too expensive for me. Most times I have trimmed the fabric short is due to being left handed and using right handed scissors. Some manufacturers make the handle left handed but don't change the blades over and this means it is nigh on impossible to see where I am cutting. So, now I have my left handed duck billed scissors I haven't had so much problem with trimming but if I do it is spoiled. I just keep the project for myself as only I will know!
Just reading through the comments and you suggested fancy sewing machine stitches if the project is out of the hoop before noticing any missed bits. Brilliant! Now none of this is a problem!
Wow! What a fantastic idea. Thank you, Sue! Why is it that boo-boos always happen when you're juuuust about finished with a project! Lol! Now we know how to save a project. Woo hoo.
Arrrggghhh! I know...it is 100x worse when you have the whole thing on video ready for editing...I had to come up with a solution that works and looks good - to save the mugrug AND the video!!
I purchased the font from Shuler Studios...be careful though, their monograms fonts are AMAZING. they are my favorite fonts - i LOVE the interlocking fonts they have....www.shulerstudio.com/monogram-chic-font-embroidery-package
