Please read the important information given below for using Mylar without any fuss or dramas.
I will show you how to make this beautiful butterfly using iridescent mylar sheets that will give it that beautiful shimmery look. It is made in 3 easy hoopings all in the hoop so no difficult lining up or guess work to do. Anyone of any level of machine embroidery experience can make this.
Tips for using mylar:
You might need to tighten you tension a little bit when stitching mylar. If your tension is too loose it your needle will catch in the thread and tangle as it stitches. I tweaked mine from 0 to +2.
Only place tape outside of the design area because the sticky will lift off the iridescent coating when you pull off the tape.
Take care when you remove your tape or you pull on it, not to tear it in unwanted places.
Where can you buy Mylar?

I can’t live without my sharp stabby tool as I call it, is a clay sculpting tool. I bought it in my local craft shop. Amazon do sell them as part of a clay sculpting set but not individually.
All my other supplies are from Amazon including my large squizzors. They are actually aquarium precision pinch action scissors.
I use H2O gone FSL water soluble stabilizer or Brothread cut away stabilizer for my stitch outs.
Happy stitching!

Hi Judie, I am pleased this video helped you. This design isn't mine it is Heather Duff's, she is the owner of Kreative Kiwi. I will pass your comments on to her.
Kays Cutz Thank you for passing on my comments. And thank you again for the demonstration.
Love the effect of the Mylar. This is definitely on my to do list. Thanks so much for all your SALs
You are welcome you must give it a try, Mylar is stunning especially when it glistens in the sun.
Thanks, Kay! I was going to ask where I might find the Mylar. Our craft and hobby shops here don't seem to carry it. I see you have answered it already! Thanks!
If you search for mylar or florists iridescent cellophane and put your country letters next to it EG: florists iridescent cellophane UK or florists iridescent cellophane US, you should find loads. I usually get mine on Amazon.
Beautiful. With your help, I think I can do this.
Sure you can do it, have a go you wont be disappointed with the results of your efforts, it isnt difficult honestly. Happy stitching.
no worries, just read, you stitch them on
You can hot glue too but I prefer to stitch it on.
Thank you for your video. You're so adorable!
Awww thank you and thanks for watching. Happy stitching.
Good idea design, l like it.
Thanks Iam pleased you like it.
A lot of steps but very beautiful . I will have to make this . Thank you
Apart from the sating stitching the rest goes really quickly. Do make it you wont regret it. Happy stitching.
Can I use Mylar for all of your designs please I use a lot of your in the hoop projects
Hi Dorothy you can use mylar anywhere that there is quilting that would create a net over the top of it. If the quilting is too wide it wont work as it would tear over time. I hope this helps. Happy stitching.
Sew Creative!! Question: could we use Mylar on the back too for a more see through effect?
You can but make sure it is secured properly so that it doesnt scrunch up when the hoop drags over the machine. I like to make sure the tape sticks to the plastic of the hoop as it is more secure. Happy stitching
Made by butterfly, delighted with how it turned out, how do you attach the pipe cleaners ?
I stitch mine on but you can use hot glue too if you wanted. Thanks for watching.
Really like the effect with the mylar!!!!! Turned out beautiful. I do have a question about attaching the antenna's, how did you attach yours?
Hi Leslie thank you and thanks for watching. I used stitched them on from the back by hand.
@@KaysCutz Thanks you for your quick reply !!!!!!!!!!

Your're welcome. Happy stitching. Do put a pick on Kreative Kiwis Facebook group we would love to see your makes
Is the Mylar you used made for embroidery or is it just regular stuff you get at the store. Also, I have heard the design has to be made for mylar
Hi Delia. Thanks for watching. The regular stuff. Yes a design does have to be digitized for mylar and this one is. Stay safe and happy stitching.
Can u please show how to use scan n cut for precutting fabrics that were going to be using in our chosen design
I have a brother scan n cut but it just sits in my room unused .....help .....
Hi Jancie, I am sorry I cant help you as I dont own a scan and cut. Very sorry, if I had one I would.
Beautiful!!!! Can I do this on a repositional hoop.? My machine is only 4x4. TIA. Have a good day.
Hi Theresa this butterfly is designed to be made in 3 hoopings rather than a repositional, so no it can't be done on a 4x4 repositional hoop as the wings each need a 5x7 hoop.
Love the Mylar, I cant seem to find out where to buy it?
Gorgeous effect isnt it? I get mine from Amazon. Search Mylas and also iridecsent florists cellophane. Happy stitching.
Hi can I ask what machine are you using x
Hi Lucy. I am using a Brother Innovis V3. Happy stitching.
What do you do with all the excess WSS?
I recycle what I can I have made a video on how I go about it. I hope this help you recycle yours. ruclips.net/video/i9lQV0bAbBk/видео.html
Hi what sewing machine are you using please. X
Hi Anna I am not using a sewing machine, it's an embroidery machine. It is a Brother Innovis V3 with the 8x12 upgrade.
😍😍😍🙃
Pleased you enjoyed it.
