A good and beautiful mother! There are some isolated populations of black Eastern greys down here in West Virginia as well. BTW, mother squirrels will sometimes take on others’ babies. We’ve watched it happen here in our neighbourhood. We take care of our local squirrels and we also rehab. Love these critters!
Out of curiosity, why? What was the need to remove the nest? Would they be dangerous to the structure? I find it pointless as you're clearing then only to create a problem to some other neighbour
The location of the nest, they'll definitely cause a gutter clog leading to roof leaks. Thousands of dollars in damage. If you are willing to let one of the most destructive pests live in an important infrastructure of your home and you are willing to pay the price, go for it.

@Jimmy Peeps Thanks for setting things straight. I love squirrels as much as they do, maybe even more, but I don't see any harm being done to them here. @@HighlanderNorth1 yes...I think the homeowner should have had balls and waited. The people who remove them are good people that care about the wildlife.
@@HighlanderNorth1 I had a problem with a squirrel family! They eat through the walls and all you hearing it scratching and squeaking noises, and once they get through the walls they find a way too get in a try to find food, that’s easier then done to blame the homeowners for being inconsiderate but who wants a wild animal living in their home?
The mother squirrel was eating the nut to distract you guys. She had a plan “A” and “B”. She was checking you out to see what her next move would be. Also, she needed dinner for that evening. Do you know how hard it is to get food nowadays? She’s very intelligent.
@LittleJoe I mean her babies were left in the wide open to take and a smart mother would normally take them asap if she thinks they could be in danger, when they are in the open theres hundreds of other predators that can swoop in and grab them, which is why he was confused about her actions. Eating a nut and thinking in that situation isnt the smartest move even though you groomed yourself to believe so. %99 of other squirrels made the smart move thats what he was trying to get at if ya didn’t grasp it
We have an old stump in our back yard. We had the tree cut down, it was really big and leaning towards the neighbors house. It was also almost dead. Ever since we cut it down, rabbits use the stump for a nest. We always get to see the babies when they grow and come out. I love the baby rabbits! It's been 4yrs and we are just going to let the stump rot away on it's own. One sad thing..... yesterday as I walked up the driveway, I saw half a baby rabbit. Something ate its front half. Poor little thing. I wanted to cry.
It’s not their call. If the homeowners want them out they have to get them out. Most places that deal with animal control are exterminators not rescues.
It’s already so tough to be a little animal trying to survive, let alone be a little animal trying to protect your babies 🥺💖 glad the house owners chose to have them removed humanely, I wish more people would do the same!!
I had a mother racoon rip a 3 ft hole in my roof. We weren't home, the house behind me on the hill saw it. She sent her kids to leave a note on my door to tell me I had a hole in my roof. Unfortunately, the mother's escape route was down a tree by the same door. The two met, children screamed and ran, mother racoon freaked and took all the babies back into my house. Other neighbors acted like I was raising racoons that would eat their children. 😒 that's me, putting the cul-de-sac in danger. So the only person I found that would remove racoons was a 75 year old trapper missing 2 fingers on each hand. I was sorry to find out he destroyed the babies. "They'd only rip a hole in somebody else's roof." The mother showed up to look at me pathetically. I really felt bad about it.
I hope she got all her babies and took them to a really safe place. If it were me, I think I would have waited until the babies were older before disrupting their lives
Now is perfect for them. They have fur to keep them warm and are nursing less frequently, which gives mom more time to find another nesting place. As well as small and young enough for mom to be more able and willing to rescue them. I have rescued many squirrels who were much older with their eyes open where the mother struggled so bad trying to carry, then coach them to follow her and she ended up so exhausted she gave up and left them. Of course there have been plenty of mothers who didnt give up no matter how long it took. But sometimes there are mothers with less experienced or just doesnt have a strong mothering instinct.
C’mon. They did their job. I’ve seen people who will bust into wildlife nests to attempt to KEEP baby animals. Leaving them for mom to save was absolutely NOT irresponsible. Considering I rehab baby squirrels, I can tell you from personal experience that they are fine, more than fine. And always much better off with their moms.
Kathy Ventura because, the rabbits nest is in the grass, so the pee and poop won’t cause mold to grow, and that can rot wood, and these squirrels were in a place with wood, and so their waste would cause mold to grow, which could destroy the wood, which would cost thousands to repair (yes thousands, it’s very expensive) and bring the overall house value down. Bunnies don’t have this problem because they stay outside and never get inside the house (like in the walls) but squirrels can, and squirrels can do a lot of damage. So that’s why.
so glad you both knew what you were doing and allowed her to go back to check her nest... especially since she had another little one in there. thanks for being caring and respectful
Just about crapped my pants when I saw you using a keyhole saw with a pointed tip cutting into that wood around their nest. I was so hoping that none of the squirrels were injured. Now I have to go back to watching the rest of the video.
And they didn't feel compelled to tell the neighbor... nice. Of course if they evict the same squirrel on the same day twice, she can sue for harassment.

I'm in the tree care industry. I've seen this dozens of times and it's always really cool to watch. We take great care of any babies similar to these awesome business owners 😎👍
🐾As an animal rescuer, those rescuers committed a huge mistake on that rescue--they didn't double-check the nest and missed one last squirrel. 🐾Well, for some 30+ experienced rescuers, it's unacceptable! 🐾Thank God, the mama squirrel fixed their mistake and rescued the last one. 🐾LIVING AND LEARNING!
I saw them assume that was the entire nest and even though I am not an animal rescuer, I knew they probably missed one by the way they rushed. Never assume and always double check. It’s also probably why the mom was so stressed, as one of the babies was gone.
Actually, they commented that because she was so “on them” they hadn’t had an opportunity to do a check before she started removing them. I suspect that’s why the babies were on bare ground, too, rather than on a piece of cloth for warmth, because mama was not waiting on their convenience. 💕🇨🇦
I raised 3 baby squirrels once. They were a little older than these; eyes open, fully furred. Their nest fell out of a Douglas fir tree, onto our driveway. I tried putting the nest on top of a shed next to the tree over night, but the mom did not come for them. Then I called wildlife rescue, and was told that Eastern gray squirrels are an invasive species in Oregon, so all they could do was euthanize. So, I learned a lot about squirrels. You haven't lived until an adolescent squirrel jumps on your face.
Well, if you’ve never had squirrels in your attic/crawlspace, then consider yourself lucky. First, they gnaw on wood which you can hear quite well… morning, noon, and night. It can even wake you up and keep you up depending on the layout of your attic! Then you have the running/playtime. Once those babies get older, they’re going to be running around up there. More will move in thereafter since they consider it a viable home. Environmentally, you have the urine/defecation buildup which can cause water damage and mold (not to mention any access points). Depending on how much wood they chew, the number of squirrels that have lived up there, and how long it has been a living space… you may now have structural integrity concerns. They can also move around insulation and collapse roll insulation that streams down behind the drywall, potentially increasing cooling/heating costs. You do not want squirrels or any other living critters in your attic.
@@Cryocide13 They don't need rescuing. From what? Mom just needed to be somewhere else. Squirrels make multiple nests for that very reason-- in case one becomes unsafe/unsuitable. If they did what you suggest, then what? The rescue center releases them? Where? You'd be basically putting the mother in unfamiliar surroundings where she'd have to scope out the territory, make a place among the locals who wouldn't appreciate it, all while trying to make sure her helpless babies aren't taken by a predator while she does all this. They did exactly what was best. Convinced Mom to move, and allowed her to do so and satisfy herself that she had moved them all to safety. I just wonder if the neighbors are going to be calling these people to THEIR house next week when they realize they are the new squirrel landlords.
@@pocahontasseguinart7099 That's a myth. Squirrels will even adopt other squirrels' babies. They respond to the distress call. Rats do also. That grey probably would have adopted those babies if the people had moved far enough away.
NavvyMom that’s how they make more money. Why not just wait for mom to raise her babies. Then when they all move out. Go in and do these repairs properly instead of cheaply like they’ve done!!!!!!!
Another excellent job. I came across a nest of baby squirrels inside a bag of building insulation I had in my garage. The mom bored a hole through the side of the bag and made a cavity inside. She was not inside when I discovered the nest as I was moving the bag and it felt rather heavy. I just just put the bag back where it was and she returned and moved every last baby to another location. So cute. Had another squirrel preparing a nest in a void up behind my garage roof gable. When it was off gathering more material I cleaned all the leaves and stuff out and found a half of a baguette in there. I bust out laughing when I found that.
What was the point of this exercise? Were the squirrels creating damage that had to be stopped immediately or could they not have waited until the squirrels left the nest and then repaired the damage? Seems to be a lot of work and stress on the mother for no real benefit.
My sentiments exactly. Occasionally over the years, we have had birds nest in very inconvenient (for us) places, but we wait until they have fully fledged and flown before we destroy/clear the nest.
Rodent nests can cause thousands in damage. It's not a question of if it's "nice" or not, it's about maintaining value of your property. Mold, mildew, wiring, wood rot. You are building a home for yourself and your family, not an animal.
Not only am I so glad I found this channel tonight bc these people do such an amazing job but also the comments in all videos crack me up! I can’t stop laughing 😆

I identify with this mama. I’m stress eating while watching this.
Yeah. Stress eating is definitely also a human habit.
i’ve never seen a squirrel like this. so cool to me
She aint leaving any babies behind. And i LOVE it!
I appreciate the squirrel removal team was kind to mama squirrel and her babies. Great job all around!
Why not bring down the nesting material to keep them warm, and maybe give her less searching work?
This is a great suggestion. A mother squirrel will always come back for her baby unless it's cold or injured. So if you can keep a baby squirrel warm, she'll come back for it.
I totally 💯 agree , it’s during winter 🥶. !
I hope 🤞 that none of the babies squirrels 🐿 get stolen, by a cat 🐈 or a hawk . I’m happy 😊 she went & double checked . To make sure no baby was left behind , it would have been tragic . If mama squirrel 🐿 didn’t checked , a baby would have died of hunger or freezing 🥶 cold !
Good idea..I did not like that she put them on cold cement !😒🙄

Smart creature, went back to the old nest to get her one baby that was missing🐿😚💕, different colouring of the squirrels comparing the ones we have in Finland, also that grey one was different kind of grey that we have, they are all so beautiful, love them and i'm feeding them, fun to watch when they climb up in the walls😂😚😘
She knew how many babies she had!!
What the hell are you talkin about? They are a pest they do damage to structures and they are not pets they need to go
People like to get rid of them because of noise, but also because they might have some diseases as well as bugs
The location of the nest, they'll definitely cause a gutter clog leading to roof leaks. Thousands of dollars in damage. If you are willing to let one of the most destructive pests live in an important infrastructure of your home and you are willing to pay the price, go for it.

Thanks for sharing… We have a 2 year old rescue (and eastern gray). This is fascinating to see their behavior. It’s really interesting to learn how complex squirrels are.
this was awesome :) Seeing the love that the squirrel had for her babies.
I don't get it, why not just let them grow up and leave the nest, then seal it off, you've identified the problem and know what to fix. They're not hurting anyone.
Everyone does not think like that lol. That is definitely the correct way to handle the situation tho.
They can cause more damage
How much damage, a day’s worth of salary ? Just have waited 15 days and the family would have moved out themselves. I could nt see half this video. Nobody has a conscience or a kind heart here, what a shame.

@@amitkumarrealtor1 they can create a lot of damage the feces and urine can cause mold and rotting to start and then you have a much more expensive problem. its better to have them removed with harming them.
You should consider using a cordless oscillating tool for cutting out siding or drywall especially if live animals are just behind. Less of a chance of injuring them compared to the drywall saw.

They can't count. She had no clue. They always come back and check. I just got rid of a nest, and she did the same thing, then I read on a pest control site it's because they can't count. They just keep going till they can't see anymore.
When she was holding the three of them, they were holding her fingers, so cute
Responsible mom. Lucky little babies. Mom will never leave you.
Why move them? Once they’re gone, just seal it up.
Not up to him. Home owners may not be okay with that
⁉️Could've just waited a few weeks til the babies were old enough to leave on their own. This is unnecessary!

My thoughts exactly! Is waiting a few weeks going to hurt anything?
It’s not their call. If the homeowners want them out they have to get them out. Most places that deal with animal control are exterminators not rescues.

Great job security, too; The mama squirrel just moved her babies to the house next door and did the same thing. What a great racket!
Yeah! ME TOO. I wouldn't interfere with the squirrel & babies.
Why did you do that for?
It's not as if the baby squirrels are in danger. You are the danger!
Your actions are highly irresponsible
Great job guys!
Mother squirrel last words - the middle finger 😅
Why not leave them till they get bigger and move on, just like rabbits?
Kathy Ventura because, the rabbits nest is in the grass, so the pee and poop won’t cause mold to grow, and that can rot wood, and these squirrels were in a place with wood, and so their waste would cause mold to grow, which could destroy the wood, which would cost thousands to repair (yes thousands, it’s very expensive) and bring the overall house value down. Bunnies don’t have this problem because they stay outside and never get inside the house (like in the walls) but squirrels can, and squirrels can do a lot of damage. So that’s why.
The homeowners called to have them evicted. The babies can be safely removed at any age.
It’s extremely unsafe for them look at your gay bowser reply (lmaoo)
I know....leave them there

🐾As an animal rescuer, those rescuers committed a huge mistake on that rescue--they didn't double-check the nest and missed one last squirrel.
🐾Well, for some 30+ experienced rescuers, it's unacceptable!
🐾Thank God, the mama squirrel fixed their mistake and rescued the last one.
🐾LIVING AND LEARNING!
oh shut up 😒
The dad is a more reliable rescuer.
They explain why this happened in the video…
I raised 3 baby squirrels once. They were a little older than these; eyes open, fully furred. Their nest fell out of a Douglas fir tree, onto our driveway. I tried putting the nest on top of a shed next to the tree over night, but the mom did not come for them. Then I called wildlife rescue, and was told that Eastern gray squirrels are an invasive species in Oregon, so all they could do was euthanize. So, I learned a lot about squirrels. You haven't lived until an adolescent squirrel jumps on your face.
What is the problem with the squirrel nest there?
Squirrels are really amazing climbers. Look at her go on the aluminium ladder.
No ...really
Why not wait one more month to the babies grow and go ? Later take out the nest.
Exactly. That’s very stupid of them. The babies can’t be with out the mother and the mother will reject them
EXACTLY WHAT I SAY!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT video offering a unique perspective of something you don't see every day
Another excellent job.

Wow I'm very impressed how animal life is 😂 Love that squirrel.
So cute! Love how mama sq. ever so gently positions the youngsters in her mouth for the ride to their new home. Squirrels are so busy....
I love that you let her go back and check!
