    I have become a 24th scale addict, and I am a builder by heart. This beast is on my radar, however, I am working on two others att. I love the builds. Hint for tire insets, I use 15ppi open cell foam (black aquarium filter). Cut a square as big as inserts you want. Hold insert against the square and trim to size. I found my Lexan scissors work best for cutting out the center. I then trim the sharp edges inside and out.
    Awesome father and son time. The squeal says it all.

    Your not kidding it's tight in there. Had to ditch the fake interior and battery tray and just mount it to a minimalist chassis to make it look right on gladiator links as well as give me usable shock mounts. It works but there was a lot of cutting and fabricating with a 370 can motor in it

    The reason why I love scx23 is due to the indoor trails you can build at home and taking it outdoors to take on the world . The size is perfect I can buy so many and never care about space and each part is much much more cheaper than what I’m use to

    I swapped fms fcx24 axles under mine. I run Injora brass wheels on this rig, after seeing your slyme ballz video I ordered a set. It’s a very capable machine although I wish it had more options for shock mounts. I use a very small (400mah) battery on one side next to the door and stick the esc/receiver on the other side. It works for now. I put in the “big block” so nothing fits under the hood!
    Great job on this one

    • @Js_junkyard
      @Js_junkyard Год назад

      @@CapeCrawlers I just got these little lumeneir 75c 300mah batteries that fit perfect in that door panel area. Should be better than the 20C i have been using. I don’t have the “interior” installed. I run the furitek lizard but still use the v1 electronics for the rx, which goes in that door panel area. The biggest tinkering will be finding link set ups you like, at least for me. I used deadbolt front and c10 fronts for the rear. Now i might have to grab some 64mm mini pins and add slyme balls to those. It looks like you really nailed it on the injora axles, that thing really flexes. For being a not so LCG chassis, this thing sure does crawl over everything very well. I was using mofo’s printed version of the ugly mofo with a Datsun 620 truck body mounted on. I was ready for a new look and this was it. If you do come back to this rig, post us a video of what you find.

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  Год назад +2

      I haven't experienced binding due to dirt/debris. I have really been liking the LGRP trench kings for loose terrain. Their taller, thinner profile seems to work pretty well at finding traction in loose spots. 51mm in the rear could work out well. It would give you some nice additional articulation without a big increase in collapsed length

    Super nice build! I have not watched this previously unfortunately. Thanks a lot for all the detailed information. I see that you used a lot of upgrade parts, so not much of a stock scx24 left actually. I wonder whether you could also use an fcx24 as a donor. In my opinion you would have wider axles, two speed trans, stronger servo, stronger motor in the stock setup already. Of course, more adaptation work would be required to the skid plate, shock setup, and potentially electronics and other parts. I may give this a try, but as I do not have any donor scx24s, I may just try a new fcx24. It may not look as clean as with a scx24 setup, but would definitely have its advantages.

    I just pulled my scx24 out of the depths of my hobby room. I've been flying FPV drones for 5 years, got this scx24 in a trade with another fpv pilot and only drove it around a few times. Man this thing is a lot of fun with a few upgrades on it. I'm buying this frame kit, oil filled 39mm shocks, and injora tires and stamped wheels. In white. I have brass knuckles, brass wheel weights, and a high clearance link kit on it already. I really really want to put one of my drone motors on it. I have 2004, 2850kv. 1606 3750kv. That's the closest I have to the sizes I've seen available. Or is it worth it to put a 130 size brushed motor instead of trying to brushless swap it. I have a tiny 20a esc, and a tiny airplane reciever I can run it it. But do I need better gears? Motor mounts? Worm gears?

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  Год назад

      I would go brushless over the 130 motor personally. More power and more efficiency, plus smaller footprint most likely. You'll probably want metal transmission gears depending on your setup. The worm gears will take the power no problem. For motor mounts check out Mofo RC

    The green looks awesome on this chassis! It would be super cool to see this chassis built like you did, but the same link setup you have on the Ultra 24! For the battery, you should get one of the batteries that is the size of the stock FCX24 (Palm Power is used a lot) and put it inside the cage behind the door panels on the rock slider. Then, you can keep the ESC in the back, and if you ever upgrade it to a Furitek ESC, you can put that on the other side! You might have to add a little weight to balance it.
    You should get a clear one, and do a sweet custom paint job and the Furitek Rocketman!
    I was confused on what were you doing at 10:07?

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  Год назад +1

      Thats a great idea. there is plenty of room inside the cage; a lot of vacant space on either side of the transmission. A low profile battery could easily fit there. At 10:07 I am using a small nut to secure the link because my servo tray stripped out! Good eyes!

    Adam great video as always! I'm currently working on building one of these for my kids to enjoy. I'm using an Injora trans, 050 66t motor, and aluminum skid combo. Also using their high clearance aluminum links in the recommended C10 length. My issue is the rear right upper link hits the back side of the motor before it gets to full compression. Are you having this issue? Other than bending or grinding the link is there a trick to fixing this I'm not aware of? This is my first 1/24 build so still learning. Coming from the 1/10 Capra and 1/32 Orlandoos.

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  Год назад

      I grabbed ours to check and the link is not touching the motor. Perhaps the Injora is longer than the buzzsaw we used? I’m not sure. I’m using all the same components you are (skid, links, etc). The only thing I can think of is the length of the Injora motor. Maybe try a 030 size or a different 050 sized motor?

    • @omeletn

      @@CapeCrawlers thanks for the info! I thought the buzzsaw looked about the same size as the 050 motor, but I guess it's a little smaller. Oh well!
