“Worm Food”, great video! I just got over drive for my front axil and under drive for my rear! Hopefully it will help my TRX4M Defender climb a little better!
Very useful video. I just did gears and needed this video first. Made a few mistakes. One to note is ring and pinion are matched. This I did not know changed out ring and put back together and there was binding.
Very informative video, unlike many other popular videos about micro crawlers. I do not know a lot about crawlers. Particularly the part about the driveshaft line up was new to me, and of course overdrive and underdrive :))
I literally was just typing my comment about you saying under drive in the rear then you start in the front. Hahaha cheers man. Great video. I need to send you some videos on fb of my bronco. You have some great videos. Helped me with my Fcx24 PW. Now l don't have to double tap my controller to go reverse and l clocked the rear portals which was a mod l would have paid for, it helped that much. Worm Food.
Worm food. Awesome video. Can you please do a video on a detail build of this awesome rig! I see the frame has been trim. Looks like you are using the stock links but vent to give higher clearance. How did you setup up the cage?
The problem with the gear change is the front is now doing all the work as long as all four wheels are on the ground. Also if you drive any distance (not strictly climbing) you will scrub the tires off and wear the drive train.
I've noticed tire wear on the front. Have the front overdriven. The motor pinion is brass as a fail point for wear. I do not have long-term data, but the soft tires are wearing differentials. Climbing wise it's amazing. 😊
@@independentmind1977 it’s a stock chassis, I just cut the ends off and used a deadbolt cage to put some protection over the motor and give some shape. lol
Hi just now seeing your video. Amazing information. The chassis you viewed bended in the middle. Can you please tell me what chassis that is. I would like to purchase purchase for one of my scx24's. The upgrades you have are really awesome. Thanks.
Hmmm it appears that in one part of your video, "when you pull forward it sinks in" Im guessing this is a fully custom build. Do you have a video on the entire build so I can get a better understanding please. Again thanks for the info. Very informative and helpful to when I try to mod my scx24's.
@@ralphhunterbayne65 it “sinks in” because of the over drive in the front or underdrive in the rear. The fact that the rear is slower than the front causes the entire truck to “suck down” when going forward. Just adding underdrive or over drive to your truck will make it do the same.
I feel like I can hear my big dumb voice in the background of your running footage at the end haha. But dang now I'm convinced I should do an overdrive setup cuz im using a slow motor
Can you get longer cvds ( axle shafts ) for this car, I only have about 4mm of thread coming through wheels and if I get beadlocks with the extender nuts they only have about 2mm of thread to bite onto so wheels fall off so ive had to go back to standard wheel hexes, not brass weighted ones
Thanks, I'll buy some, I just hope it's 4mm after the hex and not before it them I won't have to use them extended nuts that only hold on by a couple of threads
Great video! I did have one question…just received my injora OD axles and I’m getting gear binding front/back. Pulled the worm gears and pinions, they match, but can see there’s scratches on the pinion gear. Is this normal and is there a fix you know of?
Hmm we didn’t have any issues like that. Be sure you have the oring in the worm gear to help shim it properly. You can also try using actual shims on the pinion.
I got some overdrive gears for my front and rear axles. something I noticed was before I changed the work gears I could turn the entire drive assembly by spinning the wheels but wit the new overdrive gears I cant do this. I can still rather easily spin the drive assembly by turning the drive shafts but not by turning the wheels. Do you think this is a problem or does it have something to do with the harder gearing or something like that?
Hello, im trying to build my own little 24 From the ground up. Without having anything to go by my first hiccup is, I want 4 wheel steering. I see that the transfer case spins the drive shafts the same direction meaning the gears have to be changed in the rear steer axle. Can that be done, or do I need a specific axle? The steering radius got about 10% to 15% worse using 23% overdrive on my FCX24 K5 Blazer. It was certainly not worth installing in all honesty & threw those overdrive gear away.
That doesn’t even make sense. Over drive in the front (or under drive in the rear), per physics, will pull your front around faster and give more turn radius. Are you sure you didn’t install the Underdrive into the front? Again, what you’re saying is physically not correct.
Yes I install them correctly & only put overdrive gears into the front portals. Should I try much higher overdrive gears? Was my problem with only using 23% overdrive gears & should have gone with a higher percentage?@@TheShopMiniRC
@@DTW-bx2vy any amount of percentage higher will always increase your turn radius. I wonder if they send you Underdrive gears. Wish you didn’t throw them away, we could have determined the issue.
