I think your explanation was good, but at the end on the cameras there were a lot more than two running to the barn house so I think it the shotgun didn’t attract them but the other alien did when it died because they probably have some sort of communication. But that’s just what I think
Great idea. I think they did that with Winter's Tale which Emily Blunt is in. Maybe they could incoporate that movie as well... like how do kids and the future heal from this weird horrific thing? Through dreams, fantasy and a gateway or some shit
I really enjoyed this movie, I think they did a fantastic job with tension! A big part of that was the way that they used sound or lack thereof in this film. I was holding my breath for half of the movie! I thought the creatures were very well done...I also thought that it was acted wonderfully, if that weren't the case this movie would fall apart. Facial expressions and gestures play A huge part which I really liked. Love the channel!
I was annoyed that the dad didn’t bring the shotgun with him when he went to look for his kids. Other than that, I loved the movie. The theater was so quiet, it put viewers in a different environment. I didn’t want to drink my pop or eat my popcorn because I didn’t want people to hear my gulp or hear me chew, it was that quiet! It was fun to play along too, like I didn’t want to make a sound either lol! Great movie. It was something different. I’ve never seen silence used like this before
I wish they had a military cache of weapons for when shit went down and they had no choice but to make loud noises. I wonder why they only had one shotgun. Good movie though.
ThaRedPitbull-Mix i loved it! Another thing, it’s been like over 470 days, so I feel like since they know the alien monster things are blind, they could scream, then move for distractions, but in the movie, the dad just screams and stands there. I feel like he could’ve did that, then moved like 5 feet over. Idk lol
Yep, I agree again. That would've been bad ass if he was able to move over to the side and hit the alien in the head with that pick axe thing when the armor opened up. I hope the director makes another movie in the same universe.
ThaRedPitbull-Mix I wouldn’t mind seeing a movie from the son or daughters perspective. Like fast forward 15 years, or when the moms old, and see how they are. Or watching a movie from this family or another families perspective during the beginning of the attack.
Narnian Ducks still better than going out there with no weapons, but given the ending, I guess the one shotgun they had needed to be at home with the mom
Ok seeing the movie i thought she was aware that the hearing aide was affecting the creatures the 2nd time it happened. I got mad because it looked like if she told her dad about it, he would not have to sacrifice him self
I liked the movie, the ending kinda disappointed me tho. I kinda wish we got to see the onslaught of them killing the two others and then a moment of peace
I would like to see them slaying the other two as well. This is the same with Tomb Raider reboot's cheesy ending of Alicia Vikander flaunting her 2 pistols.
Ronald Cohen On the white board it says that there is a possible total of 3 in the area. And on the TV screens when the things are running after the gunshot, we only ever see two at a time on each screen meaning moved screen to screen so fast because they are amazingly agile. They still have a chance to live
The aliens in the movie represented the tough things that happen to families, that are so hard to bring up that no one talks about it, and it causes them to split apart because of it. They just represent it literally since they make it so they can't talk at all. The little boy dying at the start is the thing they can't deal with, and everyone is quiet about it and won't open up with each other because of it, but at the end they learn to face the silence and be open to each other, which is the main theme of the movie
mint the novel is called The Silence by Tim Lahaye. This movie is based off that book. Except in the book, the creatures were not alien. They were from an underground cave and they could fly.
+Rhonda Speller Actually this movie isn't connected to that book, but it does have the same basic plot. A movie version of The Silence is in production and the author seems pretty peeved that his idea was basically copied.
"Independence day" did that. "Independence day: Area 51" tells the story how the aliens were found and how they dealt with the surviving alien. Mainly a story about Dr Okun. "Independence day: War in the desert" tells the story about what happened after the movie. They have to deal with alien survivors. Especially Area 51 is an interesting read.
just came back from watching this film, loved it! so glad I saw it in a theater where everyone was respectfully quiet. got a feeling this will become a cult classic, don't think a sequel could be as effective.
If they did they'd probably give up on the idea and keep a distance, or be able to innately distinguish between noises made by disposable living organisms and basic, unstoppable geology / weather. It's odd though. What the heck do they eat if they don't eat the people? Grass? Raccoons? I suppose sharks apparently don't like the taste of humans. I wondered why they didn't just avoid humans and run away from human noises, but I suppose it makes sense for them to exterminate them so they can have more territory. To eat their grass on.
I loved this movie so much. I'm a little biased because I love John and Emily so much. But I was truly blown away by this movie and the whole concept and depth to not only the characters, but the monsters as well
Yeah I kinda knew in the beginning that the dad was gonna end up saving the stupid kids but I didn’t know that he would get up and distract the monsters
Jan! You are a stand out in the movie review genre for your thorough analysis and and articulate commentary. I enjoy listening to you! Great work as always! ☺️👍🏻👍🏻
I saw this movie on Friday and LOVED it!! I thought the whole premise was really great - it was an interesting twist that then was played out through the whole movie. Can someone respond to this - to me, this movie is more thriller than horror. I guess what defines horror - the monsters? To me, horror movies evoke much more blood and guts - and this movie had most of the violence off screen (which I thought was scarier). I loved how I was on the edge of my seat, practically from the beginning and it didn't let up. I also really cared about all of the characters and wanted them to survive - and kill the aliens. It was awesome. Great job by the husband and wife team, Emily Blunt and John Krazinski (who also directed!! - wow!).
I think the movie is more horror than thriller because of the supernatural aspect to it. I think horror movies feeds on the idea or fear of the unknown. Horror movies don't need gore. Thriller films can leave you on the edge without monsters or mythical creatures.
i_love_rescue_animals Horror doesn't necessarily mean buckets of blood and guts, those had been added fairly recently for shock value and some directors think that making a film extremely bloody makes up for bad scripts and direction. It doesn't!
Honestly The Quiet Place was an amazing movie. What made is scarier was the jump scares caused by everything being quiet and then something happening. I also thought there was a TON of foreshadowing. SPOILER ALERT! Ex: old man death and dad death, the scene where the kids were putting on the news papers for the baby room, the kid playing in the truck, and the dad working on the hearing aids. Overall I'm not a fan of horror movies unless its like clover field where its not too scary but still good plot. This had great plot, did really good with jump scares, and the monsters were some of the best I've ever seen. I didn't like that stupid nail though I thought after the girl stepped on it everything was gonna step on it, including the alien when it was coming down the steps lmao. I gotta say this is one of my new favorite channels.
This film was so intense and quiet. At one particularly tense scene, someone's cell phone started ringing in the theater and half of us screamed because we were so startled!
The one thing that bothered me about this film was the fact that out of all the millions of people on earth and all the time spent with the monsters, it took a deaf girl to figure out that their weakness was high frequency sounds. Like you're really telling me that the fucking military fighting an enemy that THEY KNOW IS ATTRACTED TO SOUND, can't figure out that the weakness is sound? Like cmon that's basically common sense. If something is attracted to sound, typically they must have some pretty sensitive ears. How did no one in the military test this out??
The government could have figured it out we don't know he lost connection the movie i sjust about this one small family in rural america with no connection to the other countries or cities so they could have figured out but that doesn't mean the family knows about it.
Was there dialogue to suggest they planned for the baby, rather than it possibly being unplanned? Living next to that waterfall would entail very noisily having to build secure, warm housing, and you wouldn't have an electricity supply (there's a thought, where do they keep their generator at the house?). Them repeatedly leaving the children alone at the start annoyed me too. Seemed very unlikely. Though she does regret it. They should have made it one mistake rather than several. Does the film ever mention the word alien though? I thought it more annoying that the shotgun was so effective. (Q: WHAT IS THE WEAKNESS? A: a fecking shotgun) And that they didn't find a more secure underground space and stay in it more. Also, what DO the creatures eat?
It's said in the movie that New York City was on emergency shutdown, maybe the military was trying to protect its major city assets and had priority on major populated cities, therefore they didn't have any military aids or major resources to communicate outside their small rural home.
Sammy Samdals I thought the same thing but even if they needed the farm they seems to get water from a well ( they aren’t paying utilities I imagine) so they could have created their own waterfalls similar to the pipes that burst
Jay Hollow he could have think of making a sounds that will lead the aliens away like throw his axe in a distance so the aliens would follow the sound.and he can run to his children..and honestly i was expecting he would do that..
This movie was "pure genius!" For John Krasinski to come up with such an amazing idea, I think that he should receive a standing ovation for this film, as well as offers for many other films - He earned it.
I think another inspiration for the creatures might have been the Future Predators from the British sci-fi series Primeval. In the show they are explained to actually be highly evolved bats from the future that make their way to our time through the "anomalies" that form the main premise of the series. They also hunt almost exclusively through sound and their body proportions and head are also similar.
As I watched the film I couldn’t help but think about those creatures. There very similar in design, to me they look like mutated chimpanzees with Xenomorph teeth.
i have 2 questions: why didn't they use the sound proof room more and why didn't they go to the waterfalls more? since they could talk normally there...
1. They were still working on it and didn’t know if it would work 2. The water fall is a fair distance away from the farm, and they have everything the need on the farm
I haven't watched any of the Cloverfield movies but I really liked this movie because it didn't shy away from featuring multiple tense moments when the characters were in close proximity to the alien instead of holding off until the big finish. It didn't hurt that the movie succeeded in drawing the audience in when exploring the emotional impact of their living conditions on each of the family members.
I really enjoyed the movie. The movie theater was so quite. And the end everyone was gasping for air to breath, looks like its the longest time holding up your breath and not to make any sounds or movement or your dead! Oh I think it was fun to play along with the characters and scenarios. ❤❤❤
I made sure to order the tickets before hand. I really enjoyed the movie as did others that when it ended everyone clapped. I would definitely recommend it to others.
I watched last Saturday and dang that was a whole new experience. I cried, screamed, cursed, wailed, while holding my breath during the entire movie and it's been a while for me to have satisfaction in watching something. Very well done!
Loved the movie immensely! I watched it with my best friend yesterday and it was a very interesting and refreshing concept to see in the thriller genre. I thought the creatures were well done and amazingly presented, all of the actors and actresses were amazing and everything was very well done. I loved the use of sign language and the deaf actress they used for it. The actor John K. is such a phenomenal actor and so is his wife who I can never remember the name of but seen her every where. I mean if you haven't seen it yet, please do! It is worth it!
You don't explain why it would not be easy enough to devise a sound trap to lure the aliens and then kill them. If they are drawn so easily to sound (such as the child's toy) it would seem simple enough to create trap - use some noise-maker - wait for the aliens to be drawn to it, and then kill them. How they would be killed is another matter, but a trap should be simple enough. Is there something we don't know about the aliens that the humans didn't come up with something?
one of the best suspense movies of all time. This movie was very well done and I really can't wait for a part two. 1 down fall for me in this movie is when they killed the father. I hate when they kill main characters, likable at that, but other than that this movie was soooooooooo good.
I saw it last night and the first half or 3/4 or the movie was absolutely fantastic, BUT, the ending in my opinion brought everything down, it basically turned into a clover field lane movie we’re the movie is fantastic but the ending is trash and there were some minor plot holes, overall 7/10 but could’ve been higher if the ending made more sense and the movie was consistent with the beginning of the movie
YKS I disagree, I really enjoyed the ending. It gave the viewer more imagination about how it really could have ended, if they killed the last 2 or not. I give it a 9.5/10
I loved the film and the dynamic between all the actors was on-point! I'd liked to have seen another minute of the movie after the closing shot but I can understand for artistic/creative reasons why they ended it where they did. I'm glad the horror genre is FINALLY getting some love and attention in cinema again, with emotional, developing characters and few cheap jump scares.
Am I the only one who was wondering what in the world happened to that nail on the stairs?! I never saw anyone covering it or warning anyone in the family about it? That nail drove me crazy!
Great video. Makes more sense explaining they’re trying to eliminate sound and not eat. I don’t get how they’re able to do space travel though. It’s not really a part of the movie but you do wonder. I never really watch horror or suspense movies. They’re not really my go to genre but this one was awesome. It’s nice to see a celeb couple pull one off well too (no pun intended lol). Usually they fail. This was a great flick and well worth the rental.
Another detail I think most people skipped was when the baby was born, if you look closely when Evelyn is at his deceased son's bedroom; you can see that she places an oxygen mask to a blue teddy bear. Which later in the film when the baby is already born, she mentions that it's a boy. I really enjoyed the film, especially with it's subtle yet oh so satisfying callbacks.
There are some things in that movie that you can't just say "it doesn't need to be explained, or they show it in the background. A shotgun blast killed it, but the military couldn't do anything because of its armor? What about a sound they make a in a spot, can't they move really quickly to a new one and or carry things to make a louder noise by throwing it near by to take the focus off them? For sure those creatures weren't using echolocation. Seeing how they have power in the house ( was that explained, if someone says generator. Well explain how gas is still efficiently vaporizing if it even is after a year and a half of what i assume of no cars being moved due to sound.....) why can't you set up a complex sound system away for atleast one or two situations like they had when she goes into labor. And then like everyone who had an issue with the film is saying, really no one knew the biggest threat to something is taking away its biggest advantage? Sorry but the military has been doing projects related to certain frequencies and sound decibel levels for years in advancements of defense systems. And we have crazy advanced sound technology, the military would have tried these instantly in a real world. Yes if theyre going to mention the military in the movie i then will mention the issues that come from all the real options the military had. Maybe its not an issue to some. But things like this are bothersome. You can make movies/tv shows that can be out there and have things that are hard to explain but still stay in a realm of possibility and logic( something like star trek) or you can have stuff be completely fantasy and have no real logical explanations. ( star wars) Now this all my opinion obviously, and before I'm attacked for what most likely will be "why can't you enjoy it as it". Its because I find movies that can have complex writing, acting, and shooting make it more interesting. the less things are explained the less invested I am to the story because I start to lose relation to it. Especially in a movie thats supposed to be a thriller/suspense.
As inept as the government is, I still can't believe that they wouldn't think of using sound as a weapon. They knew it's what they used to locate, and so were dependent on it. Bit of a plot hole.
It's perfectly conceivable that they did try using sound against them but didn't happen upon the correct frequency to cause the feedback. After all, this was not the daughters first hearing aid, the father built her several. But, it was the first to cause a feedback loop that ultimately disables the aliens.
rogermurph101 I can see that. There's a large spectrum of sound frequencies out there that could bury the answer in technicality. It's just funny though that one is killed by a shotgun when the papers claimed they were impervious to bullets and explosions.
Fantastic movie! A step outside of the novel ideas how movies are directed day in and day out. As for a follow up, keep that silent tension going, and the binding of relationships twinning. Possibly more information how they landed on earth. Yet the tensions not just in the scene, but between the creatures and humanity is definitely a plus!
The idea of the piercing sound killing the creatures reminded me of the movie ‘Mars Attacks’. But of course, ‘A Quiet Place’ brought more realism. I loved it & plan to see it again.
I really enjoyed this film. The only thing I didn't understand is why they let the four year old bring up the rear unmonitored. Even without the toy. Sorry for being picky. I wouldn't be able to live with myself. LOL.
I love this movie. It's so mature way to show people struggle with supernatural. The care for other person is showed so beautifully. Most of that genre movie are focused on showing the fear before deadly enemy, here is fear of being not able to protect family. I think in that matter, movie is so realistic. Just few actors, amazing ones tho. I love this film.
*NOPE* ...the scene I am talking about does not appear in the movie.....I've already watched the movie 3 times. There are several scenes in the trailer that are *not* in the film, such as the newscasts and scenes of people running that appear on the monitors that Emily is watching.
Denny II if you've seen the movie three times, maybe you can explain something for me? I can't figure out where the water came from that flooded the basement. At first I thought the mom left the water running when she was hiding in the bathroom, but after thinking about it and then watching this video, she didn't turn the water on. And it shouldn't be working anyway over a year into what's basically an apocalypse. So, what's with the water?
I absolutely LOVED this movie!!!!!! The creatures were really cool and unique. Scared the life out of me! The whole concept was refreshing and new. I'd love to see a sequel! Thanks for the video! I could talk about this movie forever!
I don't get the part when he lit the fire on the Silo and saw there were other fire signals popping up in the distance. Are there others and why was that introduced if they never touch on that again? Very good movie but left me a little confused and incomplete
While I really quite enjoyed this film and thought that it was such an interesting take on the horror genre, I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed by a few of the plot contrivances that seemed to be in place only to fuel later occurrences despite being rather obvious and not very well thought-out in my opinion. I mean the fact that the family had learned to survive and live in such a quiet environment etc. should have meant that they were much smarter about simple interactions with their environment which is why the opening sequence left me a little dumbfounded; they left the youngest son behind to be tempted by a toy that could cause so much damage to not only him but the entire family! - that seemed so obviously and completely remiss. I get that it can be tiring to always keep track of everything with so many small children and I would have forgiven this much more had something happened while they were closer to their home where it's easier for parents to let their guard down. But honestly, right after the youngest boy took such a risk and they made a bit deal out of it and then the father is going to turn his back on him entirely and walk away without double-checking. Would have made more sense for the boy to be forced to walk in front of his dad and then perhaps the sister to have grabbed the toy to surprise him with later as it would be more likely to trust that the sister wouldn't do something so stupid. I get that it could be assumed the dad knew the sister was there to watch him but still, why take that chance? It would have been a more natural development in that environment for the sister to have internally debated and then grabbed the toy out of guilt to surprise him later. Additionally, I get the desire to have sex etc. but it's not like they didn't have access to condoms, in order to prevent additional pregnancies, at least until or if they were able to get to a point where they could get the aliens under control. From the amount of days it seemed that it was only approaching about 1.5 years so it's not like everything would be getting expired or out of date. Furthermore, later on in the film for the father to decide that it was a great time to leave your "very-pregnant" wife and go teach your son the ways of the world... come on, that just seemed so contrived once again. It's not like it was an exact science and they had access to medical professionals to give an exact due date so being close to home in those moments would have been much more logical although would not have as conveniently leant to the development of one of the more tense sequences of the film. Overall, really enjoyed the film even though I did have a few issues with how the plot developed and felt that there could have been a better way to develop the story which wouldn't have involved such simplistic and obvious challenges/threats to their survival. I love it when a movie exhausts all the real-world approaches to a problem and still leaves space for difficulties/challenges for the protagonist(s) to overcome.
Annie Banana I think it shows that survival or not mistakes will happen. In everyday life, people don't hold their young child's hand crossing a busy intersection. They let their children wander in stores unattended. They let their teens hang with people they shouldn't, etc...I mean, everyday is survival. To error is human...
Annie Banana you should start a movie review channel because I agree with all your points. Good movie with an interesting premises despite some contrivances.
I loved this movie, John Krasinski and crew nailed it. easily one of my new all time favorite movies. ive seen it twice already, great story. finally a movie worth seeing.
the making of this movie was genius in every way..it put its audience into a different ambiance and introduced a different approach that made the viewing much appealing and so the viewers appreciated the movie on every part, like we are living at the same moment as the characters..the plot and the whole story were real genius
Oh I loved it, and has a father , I felt a connection with Lee has the final moments he new what he had to do, in order to get the creature to go to him, and thus leading to his sacrifice.. it was touching and you realize just how frail we has humans are. I can one of my favorite movies and will always be.
I love the waterfall scene. The boy's fear was genuine and then he felt safe bcos he trust his daddy, showed how good the parents were in maintaining normalcy or whatever you call it in their situation. Remember how afraid he was when they were fishing at the river.
I really like the information presented in this video. Just a tip, put some expression into reading the script. It just seems more bland when you say everything the same way. Good luck with the channel!
Hi Jan, I just returned from the movies having watched A quiet place. Without going into details about the movie, which is great in so many aspects, I wanted to respond to your video here. Somehow I got the feeling these creatures aren't alien but more along the lines of The Fly or Resident Evil. Ie. a bioengineered weapon/experiment or an experiment gone wrong. Secondly, the creature gave me a very strong feeling it's related to bats / flying dogs (or megabat). In both stance and posture, they even walk a bit like the real-life counterparts (except the running though). Just imagine some huge wings between those for arms and you have your flying dog look-a-like.
I'm not a fan of the horror genre and my son had to trick me into watching the trailer. When I did, I knew I had to see the film. There isn't any accurate way to describe the tension. The silence, on its face, seems like it would dull the experience; it didn't. It added a layer to a film I've never seen before--more especially *felt* before. The movie is terrifying beyond anything I've ever seen and the emotion didn't end when the movie did. I felt uneasy for at least an hour post-credits. I can't say enough about this movie except to say: "Go see it!".
I saw the movie yesterday and overall it was enjoyable, and nice to see a film that doesn't rely on a gore-fest, but rather uses suspense and tension. My major problem with the film however is how did these creatures:- a) get here? b) defeat the armies of the World? They don't seem technologically advanced enough for space travel, and if they were why didn't that level of technology develop something to overcome their reliance on sound - ie visual or motion sensors? The fact that Emily Blunt kills the creature with a shotgun contradicts the newspaper headline (see 4:42) 'not bullets, not bombs! The armor is impenetrable!' I can't believe, having encountered a creature SO dependent on it's super-sensitive hearing, that the military would not think to use loud/high frequency noise as a weapon. I just don't think that, without something else disabling civilisation, these creatures could wipe us out. Apart from their scary appearance, and the whole sound dependency, they are about as dangerous as a bear or a tiger (though maybe a bit more aggressive). So whilst I enjoyed the film, on reflection I just don't see HOW we get to where it starts.
yea, they got raped with no real explanation. that's usually how these movies work and why you only see the aftermath in zombie movies. Still waiting for a filmmaker to put forth a plausible way militarizes around the world would fall to such things
That's my point with movies like this. You'll never see it on screen because it leads to questions of how and why. Looking into the background just says the military didn't work and it's the same in zombie movies. I'm not complaining because I still have my suspension of disbelieve but I would actaully like to see that on the screen at some point
The aliens had armor so they wouldn’t be able to shoot. Plus the invasion started out slow with very few missing people. The aliens were also able to cut through metal easily.
Dennis Galindez even if these things have hardened shells there are still weapons that chew through it. Besides, I find it hard to believe that the top scientists couldn't figure the weakness out. If it got too bad they could've planted sound traps in an area and blew them all to hell. Aside from that I did love the movie though. 9/10 for me
this film was a brilliant twist to the horror genre! it was so great and different from traditional horror films. the idea of sound being deadly is take. to a new level in this film. The birth scene was SO INTENSE! this is definitely an edge of the seat thriller. i just wish that we knew more about how it started, but i appreciate the jump to the current situation though.
Also if you watch the google auto complete interview john krasinski explains that this movie is a love letter to his children and what he do to protect them
This movie was fantastic, and I'm not usually a fan of horror/suspense; I tend to poke fun at the genre to mitigate my own fear, but I was wholly invested in the experience this one had to offer. What I loved about this movie, though, was that it made the audience participatory. Making sound a character in the movie required us as the audience to honor it, as we maintained a hyper-awareness of the noise we created in the theatre as well. This made the constant tension the family felt throughout the film that much more intense for me as a viewer. I was also just amazed by how much can be communicated in the absence of speech. Well done all around. Also, The Office is my favorite TV show, so I'm especially proud of Jim. Kthanxbai.

Flicks And The City loved it.
I loved it. The audience went silent after the kid died in the film.
I think your explanation was good, but at the end on the cameras there were a lot more than two running to the barn house so I think it the shotgun didn’t attract them but the other alien did when it died because they probably have some sort of communication. But that’s just what I think
Flicks And The City I can't wait to watch it
Flicks And The City I was told some people already call this a Cloverfield Movie.
I would like to see a prequel rather than a sequel.
mikes5637 I would like both and more
mikes5637 I would to see a sequel that’s also a prequel depending on what happens next
Great idea. I think they did that with Winter's Tale which Emily Blunt is in. Maybe they could incoporate that movie as well... like how do kids and the future heal from this weird horrific thing? Through dreams, fantasy and a gateway or some shit
Yes!!
this. like a new set up: a big city!
Yes! I totally dug this movie! It was INTENSE!!!
I agree I was different and good..my only had thing is the ending haha left me wanting more
Does the dad die?
Francisco Mora yes
Monte Marino agree, this movie was amazing and well done, it has you asking where they came from and if anyone else is near by, it’s crazy good
I was annoyed that the dad didn’t bring the shotgun with him when he went to look for his kids.
At least they never had to remember their lines.
They had to remember their line in sign language.
Yep. Because the sign language they used is just random hand gestures :) .
@@ChrisPPotatoIDC Not true

Truly don’t understand why the dad didn’t just scream and then move over a dozen feet or something...
Every death was her fault. She pissed me off lol
I liked the movie, the ending kinda disappointed me tho. I kinda wish we got to see the onslaught of them killing the two others and then a moment of peace
Matthew Polfer the ending was great. Leaving it to our imagination that they would hopefully kill them all.
I would like to see them slaying the other two as well. This is the same with Tomb Raider reboot's cheesy ending of Alicia Vikander flaunting her 2 pistols.
Better go rewatch, there was way more than two. She doesn't have enough shells. They're dead
Ronald Cohen On the white board it says that there is a possible total of 3 in the area. And on the TV screens when the things are running after the gunshot, we only ever see two at a time on each screen meaning moved screen to screen so fast because they are amazingly agile. They still have a chance to live
The ending was annoying because we don't know if they did manage to kill the other two or not.
Absolutely loved the film. So emotional, suspenseful, scary.
Andre DeVine.
Lovely interpretation, Chase, thanks so much for sharing that! :-)
Makes sense. The father actually realizes what his daugther is going through after his son speaks about it
the aliens in the movie represent aliens lmao
Wow!!! This is profound! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Deadchannel thematic representation, not literal dude
this movie was great! very suspensful
Such a good movie. Really good story line and when the dad sacrifice him self... wow
Syphon if a movie dosnt give you nightmares it’s bad
Mauricio Ayala lol I don't think that's true at all
Omg; i cried in that scene. When he said he loved her
same haha it was crazy
Spoilers
a novel describing the original conflict and maybe the eventual recovery would be great
mint the novel is called The Silence by Tim Lahaye. This movie is based off that book. Except in the book, the creatures were not alien. They were from an underground cave and they could fly.
L
+Rhonda Speller Actually this movie isn't connected to that book, but it does have the same basic plot. A movie version of The Silence is in production and the author seems pretty peeved that his idea was basically copied.
i would love to see a novel of that!! would be very interesting
I really enjoyed this movie but dang it's a pity that its quite short...i wish it was longer...
It felt short but it was actually 1 hour and 30 minutes
Jessica Thomas yep i know but still short :(
I wish it was longer too but how long can you watch a silent movie before you get bored
There's not too much they could've added to make it longer lol
That's true...but still...wish it was longer ;n;)
just came back from watching this film, loved it! so glad I saw it in a theater where everyone was respectfully quiet. got a feeling this will become a cult classic, don't think a sequel could be as effective.
tnttim9 Just saw it today in a theater with like 6 other people. It was Perfect
If they hate sound and it hurts them. Why don't you see them constantly around water falls attacking the water LOL
Aero Romero was literally thinking the same when i watched the movie 😂
Aero Romero they use echolocation and hearing like a bat. Some sounds like nature they’ve either gotten use to or figured out what it is
Jacob McMillan if they use echo location, they should be able to find anyone hiding easily.
Grape Soda Now I want ice cream. Thanks, bro.
This movie was so good. LOVED the design of those monsters 💯
I loved this movie so much. I'm a little biased because I love John and Emily so much. But I was truly blown away by this movie and the whole concept and depth to not only the characters, but the monsters as well
They look like the demigorgon but way fucking scarier
SPOILER:
When Lee sacrifices himself by shouting at the end, he was already mortally wounded from the initial attack and was going to die anyway
most people complain he didn't try to do anything at the end and could've put up a fight
I think he thought that as well, that they didn't have the medical knowledge to repair his injuries
the wife is a doctor actually, that's why she's able to monitor her vital signs and place iv drip on herself and so on.
Yeah I kinda knew in the beginning that the dad was gonna end up saving the stupid kids but I didn’t know that he would get up and distract the monsters
B VV I’m an EMT and I could easily take vitals and administer fluids. Extremely basic medical procedures.
Magee Sterlin Thanks for the info.
i think you're both right, its an in-between genre. But i think the movie is a metaphor and its actually a dark drama =)
i_love_rescue_animals Horror doesn't necessarily mean buckets of blood and guts, those had been added fairly recently for shock value and some directors think that making a film extremely bloody makes up for bad scripts and direction.
Loved that movie 😊 watched it last night 🙌
Great to hear you enjoyed the movie so much, Estrella! Me too! :-)
Estrella Torres yeah me either
This film was so intense and quiet. At one particularly tense scene, someone's cell phone started ringing in the theater and half of us screamed because we were so startled!
When the mom shot the monster everyone in my theater started clapping and yelling
Estrella Torres well of course Hispanic people get easily amazed. Speaking from working at a movie theatre
The saddest scene was the raccoon's death
Dragon Lord I thought so too! 😭
😒😑😑😑
Rio
I was drinking chocolate milk at the time, and when that scene happened, I jumped and spilled it all over myself. 0_o
JNP not the death of the kid or the father or even the old man?
Your recap covered a few things I missed. I thought that there were MORE THAN two creatures coming to the house in the end. Great movie.
Toni Backus there were a few more than two
I believe there were only two. The change in cameras probably just changed the angle that they were being seen through.
But didn't the whiteboard say that there are at least three creatures?
Kartoffel-Snack Gesalzen yeah but they shot one of them in the basement, and the father was dead so he couldn’t record that
usa and russia could of ended them with nulear bombs
The one thing that bothered me about this film was the fact that out of all the millions of people on earth and all the time spent with the monsters, it took a deaf girl to figure out that their weakness was high frequency sounds. Like you're really telling me that the fucking military fighting an enemy that THEY KNOW IS ATTRACTED TO SOUND, can't figure out that the weakness is sound? Like cmon that's basically common sense. If something is attracted to sound, typically they must have some pretty sensitive ears. How did no one in the military test this out??
Yeah, when the girl finally figured it out, it was kind of a Day of the Triffids light-bulb-moment, wasn't it?
The government could have figured it out we don't know he lost connection the movie i sjust about this one small family in rural america with no connection to the other countries or cities so they could have figured out but that doesn't mean the family knows about it.
chriopez don't take it seriously. It's just a movie. And if it's that realistic. Then their will be no "monsters" in that horror movie. Common sense.
This movie was great... just one thing... why didn’t they live right next to the waterfall?
Sammy Samdals construction makes noise. How they gonna build a house?
Mon but they were RIGHT next to the waterfall sooo
The Answer he literally screamed right by the waterfall
The Answer remember the waterfall makes noise and they can make a big sound and not get killed
Sammy Samdals I thought the same thing but even if they needed the farm they seems to get water from a well ( they aren’t paying utilities I imagine) so they could have created their own waterfalls similar to the pipes that burst
"I love you..I have always loved you" I cried in that part 😭😭😭
I it’s wished the father didn’t have to die but he had to make th ultimate sacrifice
He could have survived if the daughter used her ear thingy
Jo World The woman mentioned it that the girl didn’t know about her hearing aid up until the end
Jay Hollow he could have think of making a sounds that will lead the aliens away like throw his axe in a distance so the aliens would follow the sound.and he can run to his children..and honestly i was expecting he would do that..
I appreciate a movie that brings me from a worry of 0-10 in about 30 seconds. Very suspenseful and captivating. Loved this film!
Yeah amazing movie just goes to show you don't need big budgets to make a simple and effective horror movie
Your breakdown was awesome too
This movie was "pure genius!" For John Krasinski to come up with such an amazing idea, I think that he should receive a standing ovation for this film, as well as offers for many other films - He earned it.
I saw this move in theater the other day and it WAS AMAZING!!!!! 10/10 RECOMMEND
When I watched it someone fell asleep behind us and they started snoring...
I watched this movie like 12hr ago and i'm still creeping out bc the movie lmao
Oh! Thanks for the infos :)))
Verga Putri Oktavia u know of a site where I can watch it free
Sherry Haney idk i watched the movie at cinema
I think another inspiration for the creatures might have been the Future Predators from the British sci-fi series Primeval. In the show they are explained to actually be highly evolved bats from the future that make their way to our time through the "anomalies" that form the main premise of the series. They also hunt almost exclusively through sound and their body proportions and head are also similar.
Apex Theory that’s exactly what I was thinking, they look slightly similar as well.
Dang, I loved that show. My local station stopped showing it ages ago. They could have kept showing reruns, as the show is no longer in production.
As I watched the film I couldn’t help but think about those creatures. There very similar in design, to me they look like mutated chimpanzees with Xenomorph teeth.
the theater was sooo quiet i was too scared to even just eat my popcorn bc i felt like i was making too much noise lmfao
There is a person in Hero Academia that can take these Aliens out. Get Present Mic over here
Wang Tony LMAO
Wang Tony omg yesss💀💀
Why bother other when there is One Punch Man
Ronald Saitama is too op for this
weeb
i have 2 questions: why didn't they use the sound proof room more and why didn't they go to the waterfalls more? since they could talk normally there...
1. They were still working on it and didn’t know if it would work 2. The water fall is a fair distance away from the farm, and they have everything the need on the farm
So you’re telling me out of the millions of geniuses on Earth, a little girl found out that the frequency from a hearing aid was their weakness? Bruh.
I’m sure others know, unfortunately everyone is cut off from one another. So information isn’t getting out.
Damn. Have not seen the movie but now I REALLY want to
I haven't watched any of the Cloverfield movies but I really liked this movie because it didn't shy away from featuring multiple tense moments when the characters were in close proximity to the alien instead of holding off until the big finish. It didn't hurt that the movie succeeded in drawing the audience in when exploring the emotional impact of their living conditions on each of the family members.
What a brilliant analysis, Jan. Very enjoyable. Film was awesome.
If the monsters weakness is sound
Then just play some audio of godzilla roaring with 2 gigantic speakers
YKS I really liked the ending
YKS what about the ending didn’t make sense
it is totally neccesary the ending , all the happening was totally corrrect.
YKS
I disagree, I really enjoyed the ending.
Saw it last night totally worth it highly recommend it❤️🤟🏼
Am I the only one who was wondering what in the world happened to that nail on the stairs?! I never saw anyone covering it or warning anyone in the family about it? That nail drove me crazy!
You forgot to add that the creatures emitted EMP waves. That’s why the hearing aid was going haywire.
Good analysis, but device used it the film it's a cochlear implant not a hearing aid.
Thanks for letting me know! :-)
Circassian Well the ear piece is a hearing aid if I am now mistaken.
Actually she is using modified hearing aids that have been like, retrofitted to the cochlear I'm pretty sure? Like I think it is both?
Another detail I think most people skipped was when the baby was born, if you look closely when Evelyn is at his deceased son's bedroom; you can see that she places an oxygen mask to a blue teddy bear. Which later in the film when the baby is already born, she mentions that it's a boy. I really enjoyed the film, especially with it's subtle yet oh so satisfying callbacks.
So use dog whistles when they are nearby
R Donner it’s a movie dude lol. Don’t get to hung up on this type of shit and just enjoy it.
R Donner A. Learn what a plot hole is, because that isn’t one. B. How do you know they didn’t
It's perfectly conceivable that they did try using sound against them but didn't happen upon the correct frequency to cause the feedback. After all, this was not the daughters first hearing aid, the father built her several. But, it was the first to cause a feedback loop that ultimately disables the aliens.
I feel sorry for you people that are still asleep
rogermurph101 I can see that.
Just imagine the Rock out Rig truck from FURY ROAD sitting in the feild and the THRASHER THRASHING away as the creatures attack.
Coma the doof warrior?
Sadly it is impossible as creatures are super strong, agile and active, hey would just jump on the truck and Rock is no more :(
It was brilliant. The whole theme behind the main plot was detailed and spot on. Hope they get some kind of award recognition for it.
Just watched this today. LITERALLY BEAUTIFUL MOVIE
The image we see here starting at 1:57, is never shown in the movie. Some of the scenes from the trailers are not present in the film.
Denny II they all were in the film
It was from a cistern, which collects rain water.
Denny II thanks, I'll look for that next time I see it.
I absolutely LOVED this movie!!!!!! The creatures were really cool and unique. Scared the life out of me! The whole concept was refreshing and new. I'd love to see a sequel! Thanks for the video! I could talk about this movie forever!
Loved it... loved it...loved it..everybody clapped at the end 👏👏👏
Lynn Vh Same lol
Lynn Vh at same here lol
I don't get the part when he lit the fire on the Silo and saw there were other fire signals popping up in the distance. Are there others and why was that introduced if they never touch on that again? Very good movie but left me a little confused and incomplete
The reason is if they try to get there they would have to cross dead leaves which crunch and forests
To error is human...
afroindia42 that's s little different than crazy alien monsters roaming around.
Annie Banana you should start a movie review channel because I agree with all your points. Good movie with an interesting premises despite some contrivances.
Dogon Backwards Right...so, you know you'd do everything exactly right in that scenario...ok.
@Dogon Backwards You understood my point exactly. Context is everything!
I loved this movie, John Krasinski and crew nailed it. easily one of my new all time favorite movies. ive seen it twice already, great story. finally a movie worth seeing.
Does any one love this channel
I kinda like it, but I may be biased! ;-)
Someone might
Christa Williams no
Couldn't have said it better myself. You took the words right out of my mouth.
Idk but the monster from a quiet place kinda look like the stranger things monster
Hanna Alarcon Dude they literally say that in the video 😂
Moonlight Joy oh my bad,I wrote this before I saw the video, plz forgive me
That's the first thing I said when I saw them I was like "That looks like a Demogorgon."
Can of Springles lol
the making of this movie was genius in every way..it put its audience into a different ambiance and introduced a different approach that made the viewing much appealing and so the viewers appreciated the movie on every part, like we are living at the same moment as the characters..the plot and the whole story were real genius
Dab on that one hater
Super Mario Signature 😂
Shut it
Oh I loved it, and has a father , I felt a connection with Lee has the final moments he new what he had to do, in order to get the creature to go to him, and thus leading to his sacrifice.. it was touching and you realize just how frail we has humans are. I can one of my favorite movies and will always be.
Hi Jan, love your channel.would love a pic⚘yes I wanna see this film. Seems to twist multiple films
I love the waterfall scene. The boy's fear was genuine and then he felt safe bcos he trust his daddy, showed how good the parents were in maintaining normalcy or whatever you call it in their situation. Remember how afraid he was when they were fishing at the river.
I was so scared and it was sad when the dad died he was brave the whole family was brave I loves that movie 🎥
I really like the information presented in this video. Just a tip, put some expression into reading the script. It just seems more bland when you say everything the same way. Good luck with the channel!
Guys the movie is super good 10/10
Hi Jan, I just returned from the movies having watched A quiet place.
Where was the military 🤔
Alberto Macias Did u not see the poster saying "we can no longer protect you" ?
Ok but you telling me those things beat our tanks and fighter jets 🤔
Alberto Macias They have impenetrable armor
So you telling we couldn’t nuke them 🤔
Alberto Macias Yet nukes would do more harm than good
I'm not a fan of the horror genre and my son had to trick me into watching the trailer. I can't say enough about this movie except to say: "Go see it!".
why didn't she just give birth by the waterfall then
georgie lie
Her water broke earlier than they had anticipated. So she was unable to go to the waterfall in time.
I saw the movie yesterday and overall it was enjoyable, and nice to see a film that doesn't rely on a gore-fest, but rather uses suspense and tension.
My major problem with the film however is how did these creatures:-
a) get here?
b) defeat the armies of the World?
The military would kill the aliens within a week.
yea, they got raped with no real explanation. that's usually how these movies work and why you only see the aftermath in zombie movies.
9/10 for me
It was one of the best movies I’ve seen!!!!! We took all of our kids - 6 total- ages 22-14 and every single one of them loved it
She kill the monster with the pump shotgun well i was thinking that pump shotgun is not that good actually is very good in fortnite
Jana Samardzioska the movie did take place in Anarchy Acres
this film was a brilliant twist to the horror genre! it was so
great and different from traditional horror films. the idea of sound being deadly is take. to a new level in this film. The birth scene was SO INTENSE! this is definitely an edge of the seat thriller. i just wish that we knew more about how it started, but i appreciate the jump to the current situation though.
Cool...👌👌
Saw it in Dolby at AMC...with the awesome sound everywhere and seats that vibrate. Scary! Very Done Movie
Did the father die?
Yep he screams to save the two children who are trapped in the truck.
Daniel Aguilar yes
Yeah, he died a hero
Also if you watch the google auto complete interview john krasinski explains that this movie is a love letter to his children and what he do to protect them
Darren Till Yep that old man probably didn't mean to but he couldn't just take seeing dead bodies
The mom gave birth in like 10 seconds LOL
Just it saw it.It was ok.But overrated.
Kthanxbai.
