The monsters have always kinda confused me. They are themselves in no way quiet when they rampage after a sound. You would think they would constantly attract attention to each other endlessly.
Well I guess it would be like how when you hear a sound you weren't expecting to hear, you're alerted to it. Yet you pay no attention to any sounds you yourself make unless you're trying to be quiet. It is a good question though.
The entire premise is, frankly, silly. Which is why it bothers me that the QP movies take themselves way too seriously. I’ve tried a few times, but I just can’t enjoy these films for that.
I would assume they know of each others existence as the same species and acknowledge that by letting eachother do their thing or maybe even recognizing their screams/rampages. But idk
Fun fact: the director of this movie did his first directorial debut, “Pig”, it is about a man on a quest to find his pig, and the man’s also a chef. It’s a pretty solid movie and I highly recommend it.
Charlie raised his cat properly as an indoor cat, but if he carelessly raised it as an outdoor cat, he would realize the cat in this movie was actually realistic. My cats can be found miles away yet they always navigate back home every night. They’re also incredibly quiet around perceived threats that they can’t beat.
That poster they made for the movie was fire The one with New York, a red sky, and the buildings reflecting on the water to make it all look like a sound graph

I've just seen this movie and nothing prepares you for this. I cheered, I shouted, I fist pumped the air, I cried, I stood and cheered. It's absolutely everything you hoped it was going to be. I'm so proud of the cast in it and I can't wait for you all to see it.
4:53 This part is actually realistic. Cats IRL have a great sense of direction. For example, my mother’s family once fed a stray mother and her two kittens for a winter, but never even let them in the house. They then moved across the country. Three months later, the cats showed up again. They had followed them all the way across the country.
I had a male tuxedo cat back when I was in elementary school. He was an overall sweet and friendly cat. He’d scratch you if he was feeling a bit playful, but was usually pretty chill. He didn’t meow. Not a peep escaped from that cat’s mouth ever. He’d scratch if he wanted attention, so we’d have a scratching post in every room in the house so he could communicate with us that way. We didn’t know if he was a mute and physically couldn’t or just weird, but I loved that cat. RIP, Whiskers. Edit: Thank you to everyone wishing my old cat peace. It’s been many years since I last saw him, but I miss his cute little face and the many nights he’d sleep with me on my bed and rub his face against mine. Appreciate all your kind words
I read somewhere that meowing is not an adult cat's original instinctual behavior, it's something they would only do as kittens. Apparently their meowing is a result of our domestication, but even domesticated breeds aren't that far from the original breed.
@@YouAreStillNotablaze I’ve heard similar things as well. Cats don’t meow out in the wild. Meowing is a way for domesticated cats to get attention, similar to how a baby cries to get their parents attention because they’re hungry, sad, etc. I guess my old tuxedo cat just never quite figured out how to meow, or just thought scratching was a more efficient way of getting our attention, which may have some truth to it.
We love whiskers, the cat i had i couldn't train her to be a pet, and was super aggressive as she was a rescue cat from the streets. I wish i could have figured out a way to make her more calm or domestic.
So on the topic of cats, my cat was a feral cat that became a barn cat, who is now my house cat. She likes to spend time outside on my porch bathing in sunlight & roam’s around the neighborhood at her own discretion. She always comes back before it’s dark & when she’s outside she doesn’t really make a sound unless she’s around ppl. She’s ttly silent cause she instinctively knows how to hunt when she’s outside. The second I bring her inside it’s a total 180 tho lol. She immediately goes into house cat mode & starts meowing for attention and pats. I haven’t seen this movie yet but I do think cats would prbly be one of the only animals to survive the “quiet place” universe. Cause even tho not all cats are outdoor cats like mine. Most of them have a natural / instinctive ability to avoid loud noises & bigger animals (or aliens in this case.) TLDR: cats would ttly survive cause they’re cats

I would've liked them to put some more effort into showing how they figured out you have to be quiet, as them having the main character wake up and everybody already knows to be quiet just made it feel like part 1 and 2. We've already seen this, characters going from Point A to Point B but quietly. I wanted to see the chaos of an entire city screaming and running away when that's the one thing they shouldn't do. I totally agree! There weren't any scenes of anyone trying to figure anything out. None of them trying to describe the horrors they saw or what to do. Easily the most enjoyable part of the movie was missed while Sam was knocked unconscious. Other than bells and a generator no experimentation or attention drawn to sound or how life would be hard without it. I still dont know how running water or rain works on these creatures. Is it just too overwhelming for them? What were the eggs they were eating? The poetry reading part was slow, the subsequent bar scene was very slow, and the climax was meh at best... Day One felt more like an episode, introducing us to nothing new about these creatures. I'm just going to rewatch Cloverfield.
No I agree, the logic for this movie also just really was not there, a lot of, why would you even do this moments, (not the pizza part), they do a good job on telling a character driven story but there is a lot of leniency on how they get from A to B
Seeing as there are multiple instances where there is a helicopter flying overhead giving out instructions, I would assume that while she was knocked out, it gave instructions on how to avoid triggering the creatures.
I remember seeing it in theaters and NO ONE would so much as eat their popcorn, you could hear a pin drop the entire movie, never had that experience in a horror movie
I saw the movie last night - my favorite part of it was the imagery at the beginning where the skyline of new york was in the background of a graveyard - it gave me chills
I saw it yesterday and absolutely loved it. I normally don't watch horror/thriller films, but I really enjoyed all three of these A Quiet Place movies. They're the type of movies that stay with you for a long time after you've watched them.
Just got home from seeing it, was very happy! Also just love how these films aren’t focused on the ‘horror’ aspect, it’s about the characters and their humanity. Super creative trilogy, and Lupita is a fantastic actress. Solid 8/10
Some cats are just really quiet. My cat was raised from a kitten with nobody around it except humans and it eventually stopped meowing basically at all. Eventually another younger cat was introduced and he started meowing again since whenever the young one did it we would pet him.
in a time where media is shit seeing something good like quiet place day one is truly a treat (edit: I am not saying all new stuff is bad I am just saying it’s more common than ever nowadays)
@@Blobfischhuntera service cat doesn’t need to be fully trained to be a service cat. They can be trained on specific tasks. I.E. sensing anxiety attacks or turning off lights everyday when the owner can’t.
I was abt to say, you could make the arguement it was a prey/fear response. The cat recognizes there is a VERY dangerous predator around and like most prey would prefer to keep quiet and lay low, especially if the other family members (owners) are radiating fear and adrenaline 24/7
@UTTPRichBitcoinman i really wonder if the exec's at YT still remember how to read... this is obnoxiously obvious spam, n it's everywhere on this channel :/
Good concept for a movie but yeah the inconsistent sensitivity of the hearing they have really pissed me off, one major point especially was the issue of part 1 going into part 2 where they clearly forgot about the many monsters heading straight for them after the "thing"
This film answers the age ole question of weather 10 car alarms is louder than one kicked can. Also that has to be the chillest fucking cat on the planet.
4:51 I actually had a cat who was given away to another family and then ran away and WALKED HOME FROM A WHOLE 'NOTHER HOUSE in like a few days. We kept her after that. I think this is just a thing cats do.
i think the science behind the monsters being able to hear one thing and not some others is that their hyper sensitive hearing would probably make something soft like breathing be drowned out by all the other background noise they would hear, think of it like trying to see text in tv static
The monsters beat the military by shear plot armor. Like unless they do something we’re the monsters are revealed to have like a stronger bigger variant that isn’t affected by sound there’s no reason for the military to lose. The military discovered that they hunt by sound day 1. They would instantly start testing different sound frequencies to see what the monster are able to hear and if anything hurts them.
My problem with the series is the bulletproof nature of the aliens. It's just stupidly overpowered. Small arms? Why not. Heavier weapons? If a rifle can shoot through a tank, it can shoot through an alien. Bombs? They would damage the thing's internals.
The reason why the movie doesn't explain how the monsters beat humanity is because it can't. Those monsters could never realistically beat humanity with all our weapons. Roanoke did a video on these and kind of broke down how they would just get obliterated by us but the very fact that they can't swim and will chase any sound like a rabid dog means all you have to do is hang a speaker over a lake to kill them in huge quantities, they are stupidly easy to beat and thus there is no reasonable explanation as to how they could possibly beat us. Don't expect it to ever get explained.
@@jevonmccrary6663 That actually makes the problem worse, because the writers are acknowledging that the monsters should have all died already. At least they're SLIGHTLY less stupid than the aliens in Signs... "You know that 'humidity' exists, right?"
Not to spoil anything but a scene in the movie shows them restraining from attacking sound coming from a body of water, but idk the monsters have attacked in water before so maybe it’s based on how they’re feeling at that moment lol
Also my big gripe with the franchise is that they know not to harm water. Humanity could just get a bunch of speakers and play rain storm sounds, amd the monster is basically countered
@@maxwellav idk, i never seen the movies but from the clips ive seen extremely loud noises just straight up drive them away before they have a chance to destroy it
Charlie watching bad movies reminds me of that one meme with the otter eating a melon. He doesnt like it, wont stop eating. On the contrary, him enjoying a movie is neat!
Cats can really have personalities. Some cats definitely have reactions like yours, some are in the middle, and then there’s few cats like one I use to have and she never made a peep. I had her for 4 years and heard her meow maybe 5 times
How do the monsters know where people are in that first wave? There are skyscrapers burning, helicopters, asteroids crashing into the earth. There is SO much noise, how the hell did the creatures accurately attack the humans?
charlie, i think you should have a segment or an unlisted video at the end of this video that has you talk with spoilers. i would love to hear a deep dive into what you think
Two ideas that I have about how militaries were beaten is that either one the aliens reproduce incredibly fast that there are just too many or that their ability to disrupt electricity is amplified when they are in large pockets and it made it nearly impossible to get a lot of weaponry near them
Since the first A Quiet Place, it was established that these things relatively indestructible until A Quiet Place 2 where an ear-piercing ringing noise stuns and exposes their fleshiest bit, which can be shot to kill them.
Nah the Militaries will never lose to these monsters. Remember that they found out their weakness and that they can't really swim. That means they just decided to re-locate probably in the middle of the Ocean or an ISLAND and decided to find countermeasures to quickly eradicate these aliens. The Aliens aren't some Deus Ex Machine bullsh1t where they have insane amount of intelligence or can rapidly evolve to the point that they could fly and swim at insane speeds. They are basically just wild animals at this point.
I just don’t buy how any global military with satellite communications, submarines, battleships, claymore mines, and drones would ever lose to basically animals. We have armor piercing rounds fired from battleships that can cut through any living thing I don’t care where they’re from.
One thing I always think about the Death Angles I think is what they're called, is that if they're close enough, I think they should be able to hear your organs inside.
I do think the trilogy is great, but in all honesty, if executed correctly there could still be a couple more movies. I think one taking place in the future when the kids are all grown up and being similar to the last of us in terms of how society is nowhere near fully healed but there's some level of order established with different "clans" or what not. Would be sick to see if the villains perhaps were a society that managed to almost harness the aliens and use them as weapons (sparingly and realistically of course. rangling up just one of us those things would be hard asl) And the second being the beginning again but from the perspective of a soldier to really dive more deeply into how the military responded.
Charlie would be even more surprised to know that the cat in the movie was actually played by two kitties! Their names are Nico and Schnitzel. And considering his experience with his cat, I can only say that cats have surprisingly different personalities. I also got two cats. One enjoys being held and lays down in my arms. The other one only does it as long as he needs to and jumps down to the closest furniture it sees. One is super active and loves playing. The other is just lazy and sleeps all day. lol
Charlie, cats actually have a very good internal compass, and they make a map in their head pretty quickly so they can find their way back ‘home’ wherever that is.
Hey Charlie I'll u this about my cat I had in my teens... KC was an "outside" car, he would come in and sleep inside every night but came and went as he pleased through the day. We brought him on a short trip to visit someone in Philly (2 hour drive from home) and KC got out unintentionally and didnt come back after staying an extra day to look and wait for him, THIS IS IN PHILLY btw lol. Well a month later while we were back home and missing him.... KC walks through the doggy door like nothing had happened. So don't know if he was a genius, but I can say that cats with outdoor experience definitely have GPS instinct or something. Great work as always sir
Oh, I've literally just booted up my pc to kill time for the next hour before I go Cinema to see it. This is the first video I clicked on in Sub box. Really looking forward to it.

to be fair, my moms cat who’s a couple years old now, has never made a peep in his life. he is the most silent creature. even when startled, not a single hiss, meow, nothing. it’s rare but some cats are just kinda like that
3:50 Ig everyone’s cat is different cus my cat doesn’t make much noise, the only time she does is just show she’s annoyed at something or if she misses me when I get home, other than that not a peep
I will say, I don't know if it was his age, but my cat casper almost never made noise. The only time was when he was hungry or if he was awake at midnight and claiming ownership of the house. Any other time he was super chill and did not meow at all, no matter how much he was picked up or squished

I saw the movie last night - my favorite part of it was the imagery at the beginning where the skyline of new york was in the background of a graveyard - it gave me chills
Love that you have a comfortable comp chair vs the plates out “racing seat” crap
Video was over at 0:42 when he said “case closed”. “Good movie”
Solid 8/10
loved the “nope, quick fakeout”
Some cats are just really quiet. My cat was raised from a kitten with nobody around it except humans and it eventually stopped meowing basically at all. Eventually another younger cat was introduced and he started meowing again since whenever the young one did it we would pet him.
in a time where media is shit seeing something good like quiet place day one is truly a treat (edit: I am not saying all new stuff is bad I am just saying it’s more common than ever nowadays)

The Final scene really tied the movie together perfectly
To be fair, I’m pretty sure the cat is a trained service animal for the main character.
It sensed anxiety
There is no such thing as a service cat
@@Blobfischhuntera service cat doesn’t need to be fully trained to be a service cat. They can be trained on specific tasks. I.E. sensing anxiety attacks or turning off lights everyday when the owner can’t.

@@Zukuzash1 my god you’ve done it
I was abt to say, you could make the arguement it was a prey/fear response. The cat recognizes there is a VERY dangerous predator around and like most prey would prefer to keep quiet and lay low, especially if the other family members (owners) are radiating fear and adrenaline 24/7
Those things give you brain parasites.
Also- in the movie, the cat is a trained emotional support cat
i usually brush off the stuff of them hearing cans but not breathing as being like more sensitive to artificial sounds or less frequent ones

As someone who’s in the military we are heave sound related special weapons but for normal stuff we have flash bangs that would do the same thing
Probably the best pump fake of all time by Charlie at 7:05
4:51 I actually had a cat who was given away to another family and then ran away and WALKED HOME FROM A WHOLE 'NOTHER HOUSE in like a few days. We kept her after that. I think this is just a thing cats do.
i think the science behind the monsters being able to hear one thing and not some others is that their hyper sensitive hearing would probably make something soft like breathing be drowned out by all the other background noise they would hear, think of it like trying to see text in tv static
the ending stuck with me with how it was shot. the song was a banger too. another one was the crowd and the mf on the wall scene too. fucking subtle
People at my work always say “That’s about it” and I can’t help but say “see ya” after it lol
I bet you in the new one they’ll inevitably evolve to swim, or not be so rabid toward sounds (the one that’s coming after this one)
A fellow Roanoke fan I never thought I'd see the day. Dude is goated and I love his takes
Thats what I love about a Quite place it makes you feel immersed into its world like you are part of the movie itself
Every time someone went for the popcorn or sipped their drink in the theater you could feel everyone shudder.
please report the two bots above me and don't reply. they want attention
I come home from watching Quiet Place Day One to go on RUclips and see what’s going on only to see this, I am truly blessed.
That Fake Out "See ya" nearly gave me a heartattack.
In real life they would just have speakers throughout the city playing loud noises to overwhelm the monster's ears
I was thinking about that, but the monsters destroy whatever makes sound, so the speakers wouldn’t serve much use for long.
@@maxwellav idk, i never seen the movies but from the clips ive seen extremely loud noises just straight up drive them away before they have a chance to destroy it

My biggest complaint is the lack of scenes with Clod 😤
One thing I always think about the Death Angles I think is what they're called, is that if they're close enough, I think they should be able to hear your organs inside.
Charlie’s similes and metaphors are on a level I could never even dream of achieving
I do think the trilogy is great, but in all honesty, if executed correctly there could still be a couple more movies. I think one taking place in the future when the kids are all grown up and being similar to the last of us in terms of how society is nowhere near fully healed but there's some level of order established with different "clans" or what not. Would be sick to see if the villains perhaps were a society that managed to almost harness the aliens and use them as weapons (sparingly and realistically of course. rangling up just one of us those things would be hard asl)
And the second being the beginning again but from the perspective of a soldier to really dive more deeply into how the military responded.
Finally Charlie is happy
Complex topics are broken down so easily. Everything is made so understandable.
It’s a great series it’s amazing to see them in the theater because of sound design alone
