About 17 years ago I bought a system, and the sub was really substandard. So I built my own with a 10 Inch from Jaycar Australia. I still use it, still feels and sounds great with a dedicated Technics amp driven from Denon surround amp. Should add crossover set at 80 Hz
Duratex is freaking amazing. It blows my mind how good it is. It rolls on so well with a medium nap roller has such a great finish, is so low VOC and it cleans up so easily with water. It's like it's made with freaking magic!
I have the Ultimax version of this kit and enjoy it daily. Doesn’t have the same level of output or infrasonic capabilities as my Full marty, but it’s a good starter and you can always build a ported enclosure for it to take more advantage of the excellent driver and tune lower in the future.
My woofer is mezzo mordaunt short. It's needing a new cable inside but i have no idea what it's called so i don't know how to search for a new one. It's one of those long plastic connectors that have multiple wires going into it. My problem is one of those wires has come out and I don't see how to get it back in. I would appreciate it so much if you could tell me what this type of cable is called so I can search for a new one online thanks very much.
What is the paint gun you used? Also what glue did you use? Do you recommend the pro connectors over bananas.... I have had bananas get loose in the past on things.
there is a common miss conceptions that small subs cant produce big bass or low bass. the right sub in the right enclosure can. there are better 10's but this 10 in a folded horn would be a different beast.

Thats awesome! DIY is really cool.

It is good stuff!
I need this for my TV!
Thats a perfect use case!
Thanks for the video. I'm currently building the 12" version from parts express and found your video very helpful.
Glad it helped! I will do a 12" build sometime this year!
Awesome. Been waiting for someone to do something like this.
Glad you like it! Share on facebook :-)
A trick : you can watch series on flixzone. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Garrett Kairo yup, been watching on flixzone for years myself :D
@Garrett Kairo yup, I have been using flixzone for since december myself :D
Great job on the subwoofer as always Jiles, and great job on the video...cheers!
Thanks so much!
Nice work, I'll pick it up tomorrow
Cool!
Niceeeee!!! Can’t wait to build one! Great video good sir
This is a good one to start with. Super easy.
I think I could build this one. Good job and thanks.
You totally could!
SO many subwoofers!
I know... its a disease!
This is awesome! This is a sub I can actually build...the price point is good.
And it sounds good too!

Thanks for sharing!
This video makes me stronger! ;)
If you need more strength try a bigger amp! :-)
The paint is nice. Maybe color?
How about red???
Red is good. I have a red sub now and its sweet.
I think it looks good
Me too!
@@JilesMcCoy ya i love it

Awesome..thanks for the video
Glad you liked it!
Wow. BOOMBOOMBOOM
Indeed!!!
How much did it cost to build all that subwoofer please can you let me know thank 👍

Harbor freight hopper gun, titebond III, either connector is ultimately ok, just personal preference. Links in the description for everything.
Excellent build. This is obviously not an amp'd sub, but connecting one to your system, does this not put a strain on one channel of your system?
I use a dedicated amp to drive the subwoofer so there isn't really any strain. Sub out on your processor to the amp, and amp to sub is a basic setup.
So you just use the mono subout from the AV receiver? No power needed?
You always need amplification for a speaker.
Hey, loving your videos!
Do you think I’ll be able to get 17hz (or lower) with a 12” ported DIY?
Thanks.
You can get there... but it probably wont be usable volume.
what are the dimensions of the box?
Is there any place I can get box designs so that I can cut the wood myself, I'm in South Africa so shipping is not worth it?
I would check AVSForum
how can i avail of this and howmuch its cost d shipping fee to phillip

Check the Parts Express website. I have a link below.
How much the kit for 12" subwoofer?
Prices change often. Best to check the website.
Can you compare HO vs ultimax? Which has better SQ.
I like the ultimaxes right now.
I use to think 10s were big..... Wait, I still think 10s are big.
Cool :-) This is a good one for you then!
Home Theater Fanatics Yeah it could be but I already have a thick surround 10 so all is good!
Good vid! but I really hate the background music ...Had to mute before watching.
Check out the new build video and see if you like it better.
Noob here. How come there is no amp for the sub?? Is it because the amp is the a/v??
I use an external amp for it. I prefer to have the amps be external in case of failure... or if I want to change, etc.
Love the video bro, but that music is horrible
I hear ya!
Please no music! I rather listen to you describing what you're doing.
Check out the 21" marty cube build I just dropped. I think you will like that video more.
@@JilesMcCoy Saw it, much better, thank you! I'm also jealous 😁
I don’t see anyone actually doing the electronics part, hooking up the amp and the DSP.
I have that is some videos. Go check some other builds out.

With an EBP of 69 I'm not liking that driver for a sealed cabinet
Why wouldn't this sub be good in a home theater setting
The Biden ads are nauseating. The sub is interesting!
Politics free zone here!
Home Theater Fanatics stop making me watch Biden ads then.

10” woofers have much better and tighter bass response
I like the size too.
