This is by far the most beautiful explanation of the BMPCC4K. Modest. Plain. No narcissistic navel-gazing. No drowning "music". You would be a great teacher. Actually you already are one! Thank you. H.
Thank you for the video. I will say that sometimes people use these cameras with livestream setups. When I do that I have found that using video or extended video actually looks better on the stream. I just wanted to mention that since so many people are streaming these days.
Hello Carl , great compliment for You ,this is the best general introduction for the camera . Thank You so much for this great help . Thump up and subscribed .
15:40 Let me continue, because I m the oposit Idk a lot of cameras but on audio. 48 Volts (Phantompower) are necessary for condenser microphones. Because there is an inbuild condenser (like an energy field, where the audio signal goes through) it is necessary that it is turned on, otherwise these type of microphone doesn t work. But be careful ribbon mics can get destroyed through phantompower (48volts).
thanks for this helpful video. at 9:27 you said that if card is too slow and can't write fast enough, the camera will stop recording. So is it best to have the 'Stop Rec if card drops frame' button on or off ideally?
Great video. Question: unless I missed it, what’s the S button on top of the camera? For me it changes the shutter angle. Very annoying. Can it be remapped?
Since the Sirui 35mm lens is a 1.33x anamorphic lens, make sure you have the "1.33x Anamorphic Desqueeze" option ticked in the menu. Under Monitor - Both - Second page. This way you'll be able to view it correctly in-camera.
Hi great video. I have 6.9.1 update not sure why but i don't get 4k 2.4.1, 2.8k anamorpic and 2.6k 16.9 in proress can you help me with this? Do i need to update?
You're camera is working as it should. None of those modes are available in ProRes, those are Braw only. You can chose to use the 2.6K sensor area (next page) if you shoot in 1080p ProRes, aswell as 4K or HD sensor area.
Project frame rate is your base, what frame rate you want real time footage to be at. Often for cinema this is 24fps, if you live in Europe for example alot of content is 25fps such as tv-series and so on. Off speed (also known as over or under cranking) is a way of getting slow (or fast) motion. If you set it at 48fps when your base is 24 it will be slowed back down to 24fps, giving you half speed.
Many thank, Carl - that is so helpful, and stylishly done with the graphics and music. Just been through your video and have a few questions if you have time: • the focus ring on my Canon 10-18 isn't working on the camera. It works on my Canon cameras. The focus ring on other lenses is working on the BMPCC. Is it because of the adaptor I'm using? It's just a cheap one. • there's no autofocus at all, pressing the button or touching the screen. Is this also an adaptor issue? • Does the battery continue to charge when the camera is turned off? • Do you know how to change the colour of the focus-assist? Thanks again.
Does your adapter have any electronics (pins)? If not then the 10-18mm wont be able to focus, even in manual since the camera uses fly-by-wire focusing. When you use the focus ring you're not manually moving the focusing elements in the lens. You're sending a signal to the focus motor to move the elements. But if the lens has no power then it can't focus at all, even in manual due to the focus-by-wire.
@@carlscinema7086 thanks - there are no pins, and since I wrote this question above, I have now got a Viltrox speed booster. (This hasn’t actually solved the problem with the 10-18, but it has enabled IS on other lenses.) Thanks again.
It's to clear the card from all footage. So once you have transferred everything to a hard drive (and possible backups) you can format the card in the camera to empty it. Highly recommend formatting in camera vs deleting files via the computer.
How do I get it to display the battery % like you have? If I tap on the battery icon it gives the option of volts and another option that just shows the battery icon but not percentage.
how do I take videos that I filmed on BMPCC into my computer. when I plug in my ssd the files are white pages that say "A001_08302142_C001.braw" am I doing something wrong?
The files ending in ".braw" are your clips shot in Braw, if you want to be able to play them outside of your editing software you have to download "Blackmagic RAW Player". Otherwise, just import them to Resolve for example.
Correction: the image stabilization is greyed out, but your lens could still have IS turned on, that you activate on the lens (like Panna Leica 12-60 lens). Awesome video though.

Any recommendations on settings for streaming to RUclips? I have Olympus 12-40 mm f2.8 lens attached. Streaming in 1080p.

how to change the director's name on the camera??

my BMPCC4K bricked after 7.9 update. any suggestions?
I’ve been using the bmpcc4k for two weeks now without formatting the card since the beginning.
Do I need to format? Or what’s the purpose?
It's to clear the card from all footage. So once you have transferred everything to a hard drive (and possible backups) you can format the card in the camera to empty it. Highly recommend formatting in camera vs deleting files via the computer.

What settings would you Recommend for shooting with an Anamorphic lens for a film?
Can we shoot 2.6k in 120 fps in braw format in this camera?
Yes, 06:51

@@carlscinema7086 single internal battery.
Hmm, not sure. Might be that some batteries can't be read properly by the camera 🤔
Thank you!!

12:1 is the highest bitrate ?
Other way around. 12:1 is a higher compression ratio compared to 3:1, therefore 12:1 is a smaller file size with a lower bitrate.
