but is it really better than doing it yourself? what about tint? i'm asking for mine because i've been led to believe auto WB is bad and unprofessional.
@@AlexNejera I'm thinking that you've been told that continuous auto WB is bad, because it is. If you have a white card, use the afore mentioned "press and hold technique", and you're shooting BM-RAW (you can easily tweak the WB later if it need be), you should get pretty decent results. I still use a color meter when time allows though, because measuring will always beat guessing.
I've been thinking about cutting the doors off for over a year, they drive me mad. The tip of just pulling them off works, it's true and I'm SO happy right now. Thank you!
#7!! I was JUST looking to remove the doors the other day and when I tugged on them it looked like it would break or bend the hooks too much so I stopped.. now I'm going to go pull it out now! Thanks and subbed!
Thanks so much for the tips! One simple tutorial I have not found online is just a practical check list or steps of what one might do right on set when doing a shoot specific to camera work. For example, 1. set frame rate 2. Set camera at right distance 3. check audio 4. set white balance 5. set exposure 6. set focus 7. "rolling?" ??? I think I know how to set up, but wonder if I might be missing something.
Thanks bro. For the presets that's so easy I got one for normal shooting slow motion and raw hq... the menus are easy enough but this makes it even easier....
I leave zebras on. I always want to know if something is blown. I have a thirds grid left on in fine black lines. It doesn’t intrude and is an elegant assistance tool. The three custom buttons on top I set to the things I need for nailing focus. Button 1, punch in and out Button 2, focus peaking toggle Button 3, LUT toggle This way, zoom in, focus close, turn off LUT if peaking is not clear - all together in a logical row. Really fast. Do not need to shift grip to run through a pre-record check. Sometimes I change LUT toggle to false colour. Also I shoot a lot using Pro-res so I can access crop-less shooting at all the different resolutions. Turning the camera on and off a lot means it sometimes forgets the sensor size setting. Leaving the record screen on its second page makes that easy to check with the menu button on the top right corner of the screen. I have presets for all the resolutions written in a kind of short hand. 2K Pro-res 2K Pro-res inside 3K 120 Braw [---] 3K 100 Braw [---] inside 4K Braw [----] The brackets denote the degree of crop. 120 fps for outside, 100 fps for inside lighting under 50 hertz lighting. Its been really useful.
I'm glad you showed the app. What kind of tablet are you using? I just ordered a BMPCC 6k for my high school video program, and I'd like a big tablet so my students can see the controls when we're in a group.
Nice one dude. Was just looking for other BMPCC4k shooters and found your channel. Stay tuned and keep up the good work. Love this camera! New follower
Well done Brandon! I don’t have a BM camera but I’m definitely interested. While waiting on Sony’s 7SIII (or whatever it will be) it has given me time to explore other options. I’m liking what you just demonstrated and Black Magic could easily be a better choice. Thank you for this! 👍
Love the video, simplistic and to the point. I'll be checking out the others on this camera. Just bought one, rigged it out and now I'm ready for awesomeness. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing this Brandon! Love learning something new from my BMPCC4K. Quick question. How often do you rock your BMPCC4K without a cage? And may I ask what lens is displayed in this video? Thanks again!
brill vid, however, ur tip no.7 bout da doors, i don’t agree, those door cover and PROTECT some very small connectors, which can be easily damaged by the slightest bit of grunge. i'd say put up wit da hassle of da doors, in exchange for the protection. just my opinion!
Nice & very informative video Brother😍😍 can u pls suggest me one budget hdmi transmitter to use with bmpcc 4k . Recording will be in 4k raw , (24 & 60 fps) .
Hello! i set values: project frame rate 24, off speed frame rate 120. In the premiere about the video is immediately slow. How to make it have a normal speed, so that I can slow it down myself?
Hi Brandon! Great Review man .. really can see you got flight hours on this camera! I'm actually stalling around the idea of getting a BMPCC4K myself , I'm just a little bit divided between a Panasonic GH5 (more all-round/run&gun/travel/Vlog) and this one (more cinema/set oriented) ...I edit on Davinci btw and for this reason I'm actually getting teased by the idea of a BlackMagic camera where I can store Luts and mark "good takes" and most of everything store programs...WOW! You're almost selling it to me right now!!! Just 3 questions : 1) Does the app allow to have preview of the screen on ipad/phones? 2) How do you manage the absence of image stabilization : do you ever handheld here? 3) What about the super low battery life: are you using a battery pack or smth? Thanks for sharing your passion man!!!
Let me share my experiences of shooting with the 6k. 1. I don't use the app. 2. If you rig up the camera (cage, monitor, microphone, external battery solution) the extra weight helps with stability. Though IBIS would be nice, but unless you are running around the shake is easily manageable. 3. Battery life does suck, the canon LP battery lasts 20-40 minutes (depends a lot on the brightness and use of the LCD). Spend a bit and use npf battery with adapter plate. Cheaper and lighter than V mount batteries. Though BMPCC is budget friendly, it is a cinematic camera and not a mirrorless/DSLR camera. And if you are used to shooting with a DSLR it will take some adjusting to shoot with the BMPCC. The image quality is amazing for the price. So if you intend to buy this camera for vlogging, action oriented stuff, other stuff where autofocus is important...just stay clear. Not that you cannot do all that with the BMPCC. I have been a Canon user (photography), I already had a plentiful of lenses and batteries, so it saved me a lot of money. Though I still spent money on the cage, external monitor, SSDs, npf battery adapter plate etc. I am using the BMPCC to shoot short documentaries, ads etc. Stuff where I have a lot of control and time, for run and gun like a wedding, vlogging, travel videos I think a mirrorless will do a better job. I have been very happy shooting with my BMPCC 6K! I hope my views are of some help to you.
why is not the 6k Pro your favorite camera? shall one not save up for the 6k pro? is it worth going with the 4k or a better idea to wait half a year until one can afford the 6 k pro, or is it not worth its' cost? is the 4k the best? and if so , why you feel that way? thanks"... and shortly what you think of the 4k Micro camera with external monitor , cage and shoulder mount etc as a documentary camera
Can you do a video about how to put the covers back on? It seems that there is not anything online about how to put them back on the camera. I just took them off and would like reassurance that they can go back on 😂.
I've actually trapped the doors on the front side of the camera using the cage, so they don't get in my way. This avoids having to remove them. However, now that I'm using it more on a gimbal, I might just bite the bullet and remove them.
Hey Brandon! We just finished our Cinema 3.2 Powergrade and LUT! Send us a PM so we can get you to try it out, we really appreciate the feedback from creators like you :)
Albert Oyiana with compatible lenses, there is a “single touch” autofocus. Tap the screen or use the button. It will try to focus where you tap once. That’s it. No continuous autofocus. If you move, it will not track you. The tap to focus hunts a lot and doesn’t work every time. This camera is really designed to be used with manual focus like most cinema cameras. Hope that helps!
#7!! I was JUST looking to remove the doors the other day and when I tugged on them it looked like it would break or bend the hooks too much so I stopped.. now I'm going to go pull it out now! Thanks and subbed!
This was one of the most straightforward descriptions of how to use this camera, I learned a lot, thank you.
0:35 1: Slate tool
2:43 2: Good take
3:50 3: Bluetooth app
5:29 4: HFR button
7:15 5: Own LUTs in camera

10:29 7: Take off doors
Awesome. Thanks.

Hey Brandon. One quick tip.... if you press and keep pressing the white balance button, your camera does the auto WB instantaneously. Cheers!
Thanks had no idea about that one!

Such a helpful video even 4 years on. Big thanks!
Like you, I also use the BMD for church, both 4k and 6k. (2.5k now sits idle). Thanks for your tips, enthusiastically presented!
Sei un grande Ti saluto da l'Italia . My sincere thanks,
I have had the BMCC 4K for only two days, and I am happy, thank you for your help. Jotaf

Pure gold brandon. Many thanks for the BM app info.
Good stuff. Thanks for making the video.
I love the app, it makes my one man shoots a lot easier. I will also be using presets now that I know they exist! Thanks for the tips
Which app is it? I've encountered several apps when I searched for it.
SH Videography the app is Bluetooth+ for Blackmagic
I've been thinking about cutting the doors off for over a year, they drive me mad. The tip of just pulling them off works, it's true and I'm SO happy right now. Thank you!
BRANDON!! Nice job my friend. I've had this camera for 8 months and didn't know about the app or the slate functions.
Great video man
can u pull focus with the app.. love your content. thanks 4 sharing
Good info, thanks!
Great Tipps! Do you actually use darker luts when exposing to the right? So you can see how "right exposure" will look like in post?

Dope vid bro, I just ordered my BMPCC4k and it should be here soon..Got a Ronin, Lumix G 25mm and a Meike 16mm..Gonna keep adding on from here
That’s going to be a sick set up.
I’m about to binge all of the bmpcc 4K videos! Just picked up my bmpcc and I’m adding it to my a7iii and I’m excited to be shooting raw!
#7!! I was JUST looking to remove the doors the other day and when I tugged on them it looked like it would break or bend the hooks too much so I stopped.. now I'm going to go pull it out now! Thanks and subbed!
Thanks for posting. I’ve never used the ‘good take’ button, I’ll have to give it a go.

Just got this on loan from one of my friends. Thinking of adding this as my first dedicated video camera. Also, I shoot for my church as well!

I use the iPad Pro but it works on any iPad.

Just found this video and I just found the presets. I bought some Sirui lenses and made a “Michael Bay” preset. Now I need to make some more
Love the video, simplistic and to the point. I'll be checking out the others on this camera. Just bought one, rigged it out and now I'm ready for awesomeness. Thanks.
Wooooow good Tip
One thing I found is that during playback, holding the next clip button on screen gets you into 2x playback speed.
Great job Brandon. Do you know which app you use. I found a bunch on PlayStore.
Any suggestions regarding ir cut filter .my ir cut filter is damage how can we replace it.

what are your thoughts on using brew? what's a good raw workflow to get the most out of brew? when should I use prores rather than brew?

Thanks for sharing this Brandon! Love learning something new from my BMPCC4K. Quick question. How often do you rock your BMPCC4K without a cage? And may I ask what lens is displayed in this video? Thanks again!

Do you recommend using davinci editing or adobe premiere with a 4K? Mainly for short films and music videos
Awesome
I read a couple threads claiming using HFR setting lessons the quality of the clip?? Anybody know if that is true or not?
It is slightly softer
Nice topic! Can you please give me the name or link to the App? Thank you, regards.
Can you use proxy in DaVinci

I figured one of your tips is _"Get a better battery!"_
Haha, yeah. That's what everybody talks about. Appreciated that he didn't cover that one 😃

This dude has the coldest head on youtube. He even wears his toque at the beach.
2.6k shoots 120fps also
The best image for cheap. But shit battery.
