  • I am now at 6 months post-op from my double jaw surgery, and I feel like I've come a long way (but still have a long way to go)! At this milestone, I wanted to look back at whole recovery process thus far: what my experience has been like, what I wish I had known, and would I do it again?? The journey continues!

    I’m day 11 from lower jaw surgery(my 5th surgery on my jaw/teeth, I have 5 dental implants) :( I can’t wait to lay down to sleep ughhhhh i wish I felt more positive cuz at the moment I actually hate my face and just don’t really want to exist in this face or look at myself ever but maybe it will get better.. also hoping so much that my lip and chin feeling comes back because the tingly/electric feeling is hurting so bad😩jaw surgery is lowkey torture, thanks for sharing so we are not so alone..

      Ugh, I'm sorry you're still in that tough spot of recovery :( The weird sensations and not being able to sleep make everything else SO much harder, but this phase will not last forever! You'll get through it day by day.
      And I can certainly relate to not liking your face at that stage, but I swear that also will get better. I had to keep reminding myself that how I feel *right now* is not how I will feel *forever.* It takes time, but step by step things will shift.
      Thank you for sharing as well, I hope you continue to recover quickly, and please keep us posted on how things are going!

    Great to see how things have changed for the last 6 months and the benefits you have noticed. Patience is probably one of the hardest parts!

      Thanks Rebecca! I can usually be quite patient when I know I will be rewarded in the long run, but this is definitely testing me haha!

    Hello, I am very happy with this video, and after a while I have to have the operation, but I am very afraid about what comes after the operation in terms of pain, dizziness, the result, what my mental health will be like, And what I would like for me to do after the operation. I would like to know your advice to me on what I should do in order not to worry about this degree. Thank you, sweetie🙏💕💕💕💕

      Hello! Thank you for the kind words, and I can definitely understand being worried about your upcoming surgery and recovery - it's a lot to think about!
      I have several other videos all about what the experience was like for me, including the first two weeks of recovery, how long it takes to see results, the mental/emotional challenges etc...I will link a few of them below, but you can also look through the jaw surgery videos on my channel and see which ones might be helpful or answer some of your questions :)

      You'll get through it! One day at a time, that first week really is the worst - and yes, sleep is super difficult...which just makes everything feel harder 😞
      I think it was around the 2 week mark where I was allowed to lie down to sleep, and it makes a huge difference so you're almost there!
      Hang in there and keep us posted on how you're doing!

      @@meganschallDay 19 I no longer feel pain, 90 percent of the swelling has gone, my teeth look much better, and I can sleep up to 8 hours like normal. I also started eating and trying to chew, but with great difficulty. The best thing is that I can eat noodles 😂🌹.
      I'm just worried about the swelling because it's not all gone yet. But now. I am. Better. Thank you❤️🤝🏻

      @@ahmedtarek2839 that's great, congratulations! I'm glad to hear things are improving and you're continuing to recover well 🙂The swelling will certainly take a while to completely go away, but it will happen with time!

    Megan, how long did your drainage last? I am on day 4, saliva drownes me and I couldn't sleep since the surgery. :( Salivation is the worst.

    • @meganschall
      @meganschall  8 месяцев назад +1

      Ugh, I hear you! The drainage part was definitely super uncomfortable - for me it probably lasted for about 7 days or so? Maybe 10?
      But I clearly remember it being the worst on day 6 and then getting better from there, so it will improve! (Also, I might talk more about this in my video covering the first 14 days of recovery if you haven't watched that on yet...)
      Congrats on getting through your surgery and I hope all goes well as you continue to recover :)

    I’m starting my third phase (3 months - ). You are looking great! Do you still have numbness on some areas?

    • @meganschall
      @meganschall  2 года назад +3

      Thank you so much! Congratulations on your surgery and making it through those first few months :) I do have a little bit of numbness in my upper palate, and my chin/lower lip have feeling but it's not totally "normal" if that makes sense...I think the numbness and nerve regeneration is really different from person to person, and probably depends a lot on how much your jaw is moved during surgery? Hope things are going well for you!
