Brings tears to my eyes. Nobody else that covers the Dead brings the emotions like he does. His original songs strike the same chord. I won't compare him to Jerry because he is nothing like him or anyone else who has graced our presence
I love that the music of the Grateful Dead is so often played in Country Bluegrass and Mountain music scenes now. The 51 dislikes probably come from poor souls so bitter and jealous that their hearts will never know any true peace or satisfaction. I feel truly sorry for them....
Jerry Garcia's background was in bluegrass and traditional music so it not a coincidence that the Dead's music finds a home in country, bluegrass, and mountain music. Working Man''s Dead and American Beauty were the transition to roots music from psychedelia. Those are their two finest albums IMO.
100% This is the only band to pull this song off besides the Grateful Dead. every other version by every other band is just a pale shadow of this. Never thought id hear some one other than Jerry pull this off
Outstanding version of one of Jerry & Hunter's best tunes. The fact that Robert H wrote this, Ripple, & Brokedown Palace on the same day is astounding.
On the same afternoon, London 1970, with a case of Retsina sitting on the same table he was writing. He wasn't drinking any, he just like having it there. "'Oh, but would those times come again.' They will, but not for me!" -RH
Met Robert Hunter once at a party when I worked in radio. I was in awe for the entire interview, but I think Hunter was a bit wowed too, by the fact that someone wanted to interview him....A brilliant, yet humble man.
I wish Billy would do a dead cover album because he has something special about him. Im just man listening with my eyes closed and smiling that I found this rabbit hole
There are gifted singers. There are true performers. There are great musicians. But people like Billy Strings don't really fit a category. They transcend description and simply give voice and feeling to what we all hope and dream in life. In essence, Mr. Strings is a little bit of anyone who gives an ear to his music.
I am embarrassed to say this, but when I first heard and saw the video of "Dust in the Baggie" I thought he was an autistic savant. He is gifted and I know better now.
Genres only exist so A & R men had something to pigeon hole artists, they didn't exist before mass media and radio. How many great musicians that we had never heard of, before the internet destroyed the record companies death grip on music.
So sweet. Brought tears to my eyes. I'm so happy to see the music of the Dead live on. God bless you both, Billy and Molly. Jerry would have turned 80 this year.
Jerry Garcia...the most honest performer I ever saw live. It was never about how many notes he could cram into a measure of music, it was about the emotion of that night, the song, that last second of time. He felt there was as much emotion, if not more, in the quietness. And he was right. Never be another like him. Eternally grateful my time on this planet included those experiences....memories.

keep coming back, mollie is truly enjoying his interpretation. but at the same time she is shining! spot on play and harmony. so effortless. finally Billy just gives up and is immersed in the magical juxtapostion. the whole thing mirrors the ideals of the song so eloquently. Pure magic.
Damn this is good. Just the right feel, the passion. Billy's voice always surprises me. He's lightning in a bottle with a guitar, but the man can SING, too. And when Molly would come in on the harmonies.... WOW, the perfect complement.
As a young dead head this gives me hope. I never got a chance to see the GD in person but I can for sure say the music and spirit is not lost on talented musicians like this 🤟
Billy and Molly do this so beautifully, my husband’s favorite Garcia song off my favorite Garcia album, I love their cover, it’s beautiful, though my favorite song from Garcia is always going to me The Wheel, but this is fantastic, that 1st Garcia solo album was sooo good, I still play it all the time. We have tickets to see Billy in August, can’t wait.❤

I listen to this song constantly, from Jerry’s first solo album, I have had that album since 1974, I’m such a deadhead, but I must say, I love Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle. It’s so great to see young bluegrass musicians playing these tunes. May 11, 2023 was our 1st concert since 2019, we went to see Rodney Crowell live again, just like our last concert,November 19, 2019. In May, Rodney had a great bluegrass duo open for him, they read the audience and opened with Brown Eyed Women(and red grenadine) & closed with Friend Of The Devil, everyone was on their feet. Of course Rodney’s closing song is always Pancho and Lefty, a song I’ve seen BMFS do really well.
Really, really beautiful. And considering the wizardry in those twenty fingers, also the most disciplined and respectful rendition I could imagine from these two angels. Thank you.
Imagine having this as a throwaway tune you wrote and didn't play for decades. Imagine coming along and cracking out such a beautiful rendition of a forgotten gem probably older than your grandparents. Thank you 🙏.

Man, they harmonize together so well! What an absolutely stunning performance. I keep watching this one over and over. Billy is just an absolute monster. How awesome is it to be alive while Billy Strings is learning and growing as a guitar player and performer?
An astonishing time to be alive and listening, yes! Mr. Strings and Ms. Tuttle have time and the genre seems in good hands. (Well, not to deny they span genres as well.)

Lyrics:
To lay me down, once more
To lay me down with my head in sparklin' clover
To lay me down, on e last time, to lay me down
To be with you, once more, to be with you
With our bodies close together
Let the world go by, like the clouds a'streamin'
To lay me down, on e last time, to lay me down
To lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down, one last time
To lay me down
To lie with you, once more, to lie with you
With our dreams entwined together
To wake beside you, my love still sleepin'
To tell sweet lies, one last time and say good night
To lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down, one last time
To lay me down, one last time, to lay me down
To lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down, to lay me down
To lay me down
