You see the great thing about this is… Jerry was a bluegrass guy first. He literally drove across the country to festivals learning the songs Billy plays from the guys who actually wrote them.
The fact that Billy grew up playing bluegrass, found the Dead and Jerry, and is reinterpreting one of Jerry’s most beautiful songs back to bluegrass is just… I don’t even know.
    But it makes SENSE.

If you subscribe to Jamel AKA Jamal on RUclips start hitting him up with Billy Strings requests, it will help Billy as well, as Jamal is heading towards 1Million Subscribers. Turn on a few more to get the Bands spi s on Spotify up and coin in their pockets.

@@notfadewaway I’ve used 3 swimming mp3 players. Shokz OpenSwim $150ish sleekest design, lowest volume but good enough. Bone conduction. Not much bass.
Flowmotion M1- mp3 player $75ish a bit clunky but good and has bass! Bone conduction. Has Bluetooth for non water activities. They get really loud.
SEWOBYE mp3 player $59 in ear buds with cord that clips to mp3. Attach mo3 to goggle strap. Works really well. No bass but clear in ear bud sound.
The bone conduction headphones I’m always moving around readjusting them. The ear buds are cheapest and I put them in and forget about it. You could use another headphone out of the pool and maybe get more sound.

Hell No! There’s a little snow on the roof now but there’s still a hell of a lot of fire in the belly and the foundation has weathered remarkably well for the late nights that became another day of chasing the sunshine across this crazy rock to that next parking lot for several years and several decades playing around with my hillbilly chemistry set and living on everything pharmacological and not very much of anything that was really good for me! Accidentally drank more booze then there’s water in the Mississippi! My last decade required a spoon and the needle and I’ve survived all my self destructive and self inflicted damage and abuse… but brother as soon as I hear a little music ring out… I’m still just 17 and I’m dancing around… to old to care about what the other people think anymore… life’s about being alive and dancing and sharing your love! I’m just a child at 54… unfortunately I stumbled upon the old Grateful Dead and I was dancing around with all my friends and I’m going to be dancing around until the day I fall over dead! I’m not in the way… I’m kicking the beat’s!!! LMFFAO

I went to this bluegrass festival (Planet Bluegrass in CO) in ~2000 and -- at a campfire -- sat with these teenagers who sang and played most of Old And In The Way (and Dead material) for hours... I was reassured that the music was in good hands. Then along comes Billy.

This is the first song of BMFS that I clicked on in August of 2023, RUclips kept suggesting Billy for a couple months, when I saw this, I knew why, it’s so good and I couldn’t scroll past Wharf Rat, I am a deadhead since I was 11,12, at 13 I went to my first Dead concert, unfortunately, the Dead didn’t. I bought tickets again in 1973, for my 18th birthday, but that show got canceled too. In May 1974, my cousins were down from the Bay Area & we were smoking my uncle’s weed up in the bushes above the park where we gathered to celebrate Mother’s Day, my cousins mom died when we were kids, so my mom stood in and mothered them, I being her oldest child, helped her mother them…anyways, my cousins told me they were going to see the Grateful Dead and NRPS in a month, in June, why didn’t I fly to San Francisco, which I did in June of 74. I moved to the Bay Area and saw the Dead so many times and JGB. I am so happy I got tix to see Billy at the Gorge, here in Washington State in August, 2 months away !!!!

Jerry would be proud!!! Big shout out to Billy Strings - his playing inspired me to pick up the guitar about ten years ago after I saw an old video of a then unknown Billy Strings playing "Dust in a Baggie".. .....thanks to his inspiration, after close to thirty years of simply noodling around, I have come to really improve my flat picking skills and gained a greater appreciation for Bluegrass music in general - an incredible talent to be sure!!!! It has been a lot of fun to watch is meteoric rise over the last decade or so!!!

Big support from Europe Billy! You, Guy King, Ana Popovic, Bonamassa... probably me also soon... + several more are actually the ones who will be rewarded for saving REAL music, and real original real-deal old school roots. B.Grass and Blues must be saved! And it is going good! Im glad about that a lot. Hope i will play some Blues and picking one day with you man.. On stage and personal.
Until then, Good Luck man, you are very good! The better You get, harder You work! Cheers from Croatia Adriatic Sea 🍻🍻🦾👌👍

Thanx B! for everything. This one, Yours Here, our Last Live Show.
Caught the heat-stroke At the "Hot Fox" 2
It all seems a long long way from a cold night; way below zero the night before Valentines, Solo, & with "I'm With Her" in front of a geriatric crowd of only 400, in Ridgefield, sponsored by 2-Roads Brewing with free beer tasting,(complete with red Solo cups) Everyone else was there for the Fem-fantastic harmonies of song-birds; "I'm With Her"(¬ the great 'fresh-for-the-event' Craft-Brew) No one had heard of ''The Opening Act" Billy Strings.
I asked around not one person or other couple knew......
The doors & their minds were blown open!
Before breakin' into "Tell It To Me" Billy ask these low-pulse, rich AF, old geezers
'"Anybody do Cocaine? I was dyin'😁' trippin'😎 holding back, also not laughing, but dying 2😂
All of these Wallstreet types were so uptight, too 'tightened' to even snicker . . . not a clap! . . .
When, in fact, I'd bet that every one of us in that 420 seat theater had used
The snow was thick . . . Outside, in the parking lot that night.
