    That looks absolutely delicious!! Great recipe once again. I have always used sterilised(brand new) gardening secateurs to dissect chicken after seeing Fanny Craddock do it back in the 70’s. It really does work!! X

    Never push down a knife on the ball of your hand to cut through anything especially if the knifes greasy your hand can slip back accross the back of the blade and cut through to the bone. ( yours not the chicken ) I worked in catering and I've seen it happen, and believe me its not very pretty and extremely painful. Put a cloth over the back of the knife when cutting.

    That looks lovely Amanda. You know I’m 68 and I’ve never, 3ver had Coq Au Vin, I’d never even looked how to make it. But it looks pretty good, maybe I’ll have a g9 at doing this, but I certainly won’t be cutting up a chicken to do it lol. My hands aren’t strong enough anyway, I can’t even open a jar so …….. Thanks for the video, its appreciated.

    The recipe looks great, one of my favourites.
    If it helps, I find cheap garden secateurs crunch through the bones easy and finish job off with a sharp knife. Just broken up 5 ironically last week, as I found them 60% off in Lidl. ! Lucky.
    Big wooden boards in Ikea at good value.
    What a great idea using the big spring onions as you did, we buy the frozen baby onions, never thought to do the obvious thing...lol.

It's not helping my insomnia either because I'm now trying to write down as many of your lovely recipes as I can in my recipe app on my phone. Any chance of a cookbook? xx 😋

    Love your videos sweetie but I agree with the comment about the big knife it's so dangerous to press down with a bare hand on the back of the blade also it's a huge meat knife better to slice the red cabbage with a thinner smaller blade easier on the hands not so tiring xx my mouth is watering imagining how gorgeous this recipe tastes you are amazing xx

  • @andrewcoates6641

    Very nice, but a couple of points, 1,buy either a good pair of poultry shears or if you know someone who works in the A+E department or for the ambulance service, as them if they can liberate a pair of trauma shears for you, they will cut through anything especially when it’s something raw.
    2. When serving Yorkshire puddings with any meal, I prefer to place them open side up, so that I can fill them with the gravy or sauce as well as covering the rest of the dish with it, to give me a reserve supply.

    • @mikebashford8198
      @mikebashford8198 15 дней назад +1

      Great idea - I'll keep an eye out on ebay for trauma shears - I've got a toolbox full of medical instruments from ebay that I've repurposed. I use garden secateurs and a meat cleaver for cutting up raw chicken.

    One of my fave Sunday dinners I would do when I was first married, with roastit tatties and veggies. I'd buy a packet powder mix that you added water to and that was really nice actually, but then I studied in France for a while and the lovely lady who ran the place where I rented a room did it one day and I was blown away how simple it was to do with 'real' ingredients lol And she added sliced carrots which I still do to this day :) Again, you have sent me down Memory Lane hahahaha Lovely jubbly, super job Mands xxx

    Aw bless Mand, I felt your pain today, the blooming chicken refused to chop up easily, the jar wouldn’t play fair etc. everyone knows how experienced you are, so don’t worry, this is real life! Food looked great as usual, though perhaps I might have thickened up the sauce with a little cornflour, but then again who am I to comment, another great meal, well done love x

    You can use a wet paper towel under the cutting board,if your paper towels in the UK are good quality.Thats what I do,saves washing the towel,you can also use a bottle opener to get the lid off jars.,slip the tip under the rim,and pull up,I wrap paper towel around the knife handle so it doesn’t slip in my hand.Nice meal,I think I made it once maybe 40 odd years ago.I worked with a Polish chef that put beetroot in with his red cabbage.😊
