  • Opeth released the stellar new album In Cauda Venenum last year, landing on our list of the Top 30 Metal + Hard Rock Albums of 2019.
We spoke with Mikael Åkerfeldt about the album in Part 1 of our video interview with the Opeth frontman. During that same conversation, as seen in Part 2 above, he also discussed the Swedish metal scene and the rise of his country mates Ghost.

I'll tell you, why so many amazing bands are from Sweden - all of them in their formative years were exposed to ABBA. Their tastes were shaped by those genius, melodious songs and those beautiful voices. So, it's not something in the water, it's all thanks to the best band of all time!!!

Living in Sweden though. It must be a dream to make it there. In America Washington we have it nice....way to easy for someone uneducated to get support with no re succumberance. No return call to the system that feeds. Loans and grants for college, certificate instead of degrees. It helps people like me but I still need to perform duties to make it. I have understand ing that everyday of my life I will need to prove my skills
