Friendly install tip: At about 6:35 in the video. After dropping the two elevator bolts through the hole, before you tighten the knobs underneath. Push the entire tonneau cover assembly forward so that its up against the cab/bulkhead as far as possible. This will help in the end with your tailgate latch, so that the tailgate still drops via pushing the remote, and not catch on the tonneau cover. Good luck with your installs!
Thanks for the video, confirms I'm going to buy this. I have twins on the way and need to put the stroller somewhere when they're taking up the whole back seat, and don't want it out in the elements.. The OEM one is great, it re-uses the rails so you don't lose those, which is great, and flips out of the way almost entirely, then it's only 5 minutes to remove those 2 knob screws if you need to do so in a pinch b/c you need every inch or something. Those drains look a bit ghetto, but whatever, that's very minor. Regarding your comment about the 360* camera, it won't interfere. The 3rd light has 2 cameras in that black piece, 1 for the load camera, 1 camera for the rear view mirror. The 360* is formulated by 4 cameras: 1 under each side mirror for the sides with 180* FOV, 1 in the grill for the front, and 1 in the tail gate for the rear, which doubles as the back-up camera. So no, this won't impact the 360* cameras or the load & rear view cameras. Very nice design. Thanks a bunch, and yeah, watching this makes it straight forward to install w/o having to read directions!
I just bought the Backflip F1 cover for my 2022 Tundra. I received the exact same hardward as your OEM but with instructions for completely different hardware. I'm glad I found your video. 🙏 I will stall mine tomorrow.
Thanks for the video It helped me install a tonneau cover on my 24 Tacoma. Very close design to the tundra cover biggest difference they use 2 elevator bolts on each front corners with a locking nut and cotter pin design to hold it in place I like the knob design better
Bro, I know this isn’t good but, I installed my cover watching your video and not using the instructions 😂 thank you so much. The only thing that worries me is that there was a recall on our covers. They just sold it to me like a few weeks ago while there was a recall. 😅
Found this video while trying to figure out why the dealer used those holes for the drainage tubes, I didnt realize they were factory holes since the dust was still there (I guess the dealer must have drilled mine a bit bigger). Also find it odd that there are little holes directly below where the tubes hang but im not sure if the dealer did that or not, I will likely drill them bigger so i can use them and have the tubes hang straight down.
I plan on one of those later but I bought the bed mat because I got tired of things sliding around in my tundra let me say that is one of the best things I've bought thus far works great
Well done. I have ordered one for mine and after seeing you video, I have elected to install it myself. Yeah, it appears the gap between the bed and the seal might be an issue. I am gong to try some Flex Tape, one I get the Tonneau. I'll post the outcome.
I've been debating between this OEM folding tonneau, the RetraxPro XR, and the BakFlip MX4... Between the OEM and BakFlip, they are pretty much identical. Did you consider others? What made you land on the OEM? This was an awesome vid and thanks for posting. The update at the end was perfect follow up. Pretty much my same Costco run too. I did spy those original rims on the corner....
Thank you so much for this awesome video! It looks exactly like the bakflip mx4 I got but it came with instructions for a 2nd Gen Tundra I'm pretty sure. Fantastic video and beautiful truck, boss!
Great video. The only question is if you used the original bolts from the OEM rail to install the tonneau cover rail, what bolts did you use to reinstall the OEM rail underneath the tonneau cover rail?
Thanks again for video. I ordered this cover and it is delayed but should be here next week. After installing it, does it keep the bed completely dry after raining? Thanks
So far it has. Ive been on a few 3 hour road trips in heavy rain and its been completely dry. I haven't taken it through a car wash yet, but those things shoot pressurized water in all directions.. i would guess water could potentially get in in that case. However under normal heavy rain conditions my bed has been dry.
Not very much. Toyota doesnt list it anywhere. However the rails that the tonneau sits on are just a hard plastic. Best guess would be 50-100 lbs tops.
Question: do those 2 about 4" rubber bumpers up on that last panel (the laundry detergent bottle was next to it at one point ) - stay in place for you? One of mine has come loose - and I've only had the cover on about 1 week.
Did you have to do any drilliing into the composite bed where the drain holes are or are the holes large enough for the hoses supplied , cause my drain holes look quite small on my composite bed(no spray on liner) on my 24' Tundra limited trd w/ 5.7' bed?
Anybody have a better update on the status of the tonneau recall than I do? I took my truck to the dealership in April 2023, and they removed the tonneau cover to address the recall. I haven’t heard anything about a replacement or modification to the tonneau cover to fix the issue of it possibly “flying off”. I’ve gone to the dealership multiple times and get no answers. I called U.S.A. Toyota corporate headquarters and talked numerous times with their “Brand Engagement Advocates”. They have no remedy for the recall and have no status on a modification or a replacement cover. They suggested I talk to the dealership. I’ve followed up multiple times. It’s now been SIX MONTHS since the recall, and no remedy. I have an expensive truck with no way to secure valuable items in the bed and keep the rain off. We’re not talking about a major modification-it’s only a simple tonneau cover. What’s the problem?
Thanks for the video, picked up my 2023 yesterday and putting the cover on tonight. Install instructions: drive.google.com/file/d/1MHiqfCIstR966s9rzqbMrhQ5Uy-Ksk10/view?usp=share_link
Wow they made the cover like shit compared to the 21 oem cover mine was so easy to install this looks cheaply made typical Toyota trying to save that money an make it cheep as possible

I was just going to post that too. Perhaps keep the bolts c/t the rails loose and then tighten once it's all installed and the bed opens? Thoughts..
Your instructions is excellent. Was able to installed mine in 1.5 hour by myself. Best on RUclips! Thanks

Great video. Just used to install the cover on my Tundra. Made installing super easy. Thanks
Great job my tonneau cover just arrived at my toyota dealer and I'm looking forward to picking it up on Monday!!!
Thanks for the video

Just installed mine today on my 2023 Platinum. Thank you very much, was a great help! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks for the video. Took me less than an hour to install it thanks to your video.
great explanation, congratulations for the video. mine also has the 6.5 bed 👍🏼🙏🏽 thanks from NYC 🇺🇸
thanks for the install video! I had no instructions provided to me, just watched your video and worked well, thanks!
Sir, thank you so much. Your video was my instruction manual to installing my Bakflip MX4 perfectly!
I've been debating between this OEM folding tonneau, the RetraxPro XR, and the BakFlip MX4...
Between the OEM and BakFlip, they are pretty much identical.
Did you consider others? What made you land on the OEM?

I did spy those original rims on the corner....
Great video, I installed mine yesterday. Thanks for posting videos on the new Tundra.
On the front by the rear window on other videos they had a rubber piece that was installed across the back, I didn’t see that on your video!
@eyeswideopen What was the purpose of the rubber strip that you noticed?
@@chrismatta1666 the bulk head seal by the rear window
Thanks for the video. I have the same tonneau and I'm researching on what bed rack would work well with it. Do you have any suggestions?
Thank you so much for this awesome video! It looks exactly like the bakflip mx4 I got but it came with instructions for a 2nd Gen Tundra I'm pretty sure. Fantastic video and beautiful truck, boss!
Great video - Thanks for the step by step. Fits great on my 22 TRD Pro😀
Great video. What tailgate adjustment did you do to allow tailgate to open freely?? Thanks for sharing. 👍🏽👍🏽
Just pushing the entire assembly forward. Closer to the cab. Then retightening the knobs/elevator bolts
Thanks ordered it..took 4 months for my truck to get here...did you find a fix for the opening in the corner
Thanks, excellent video. I should be getting the OEM cover later this week so helpful. Thanks.
Good video installed same cover on my 22 tundra sr5
Nice work very clean thanks for posting
Silly Question - where'd you get the online installation manual? I can't seem to find it.
Great video. The only question is if you used the original bolts from the OEM rail to install the tonneau cover rail, what bolts did you use to reinstall the OEM rail underneath the tonneau cover rail?
Tonneau cover comes with new set of t30 torx bits in the box. Sorry should of covered that in the video
Thanks again for video. I ordered this cover and it is delayed but should be here next week. After installing it, does it keep the bed completely dry after raining? Thanks

Is the 6 1/2 foot bed the longer bed for the tundra? Mine is longer but idk the length 😅
Any update on the recall on this product?
Can you install cross bars with this cover on the bed
I got an email from billie bars saying yes but requires modding.
How is it holding up?
Awesome. Thank you.
Any idea where can I get those S mounting brackets
Just a quick question with your tires, is this stock lift, no modifications for these tires to fit?
Anybody know how much these OEM Tonneau cover are going for? Do you buy from dealer? Online?
How is the finish on the cover? Does it have a glossy look to it?
12:29 no gloss, more matte than anything. Looks great in my opinion
Great one. Do you know what the max surface weight is that it will support?
Not very much. Toyota doesnt list it anywhere. However the rails that the tonneau sits on are just a hard plastic. Best guess would be 50-100 lbs tops.
I like you video thank you for share it with us where do you get your running board?
Thanks! Ordered it through ebay. Came from a Toyota dealership in Houston, TX
Thank you great truck love it
Question: do those 2 about 4" rubber bumpers up on that last panel (the laundry detergent bottle was next to it at one point ) - stay in place for you? One of mine has come loose - and I've only had the cover on about 1 week.
When installing the buckles, one of the screws just spins with the collar...how do you get the collars to stay put so the screw threads?
For the life of me. I can’t figure out how to use the two skinny struts? They seem too long for the location of the strut track
Did you have to do any drilliing into the composite bed where the drain holes are or are the holes large enough for the hoses supplied , cause my drain holes look quite small on my composite bed(no spray on liner) on my 24' Tundra limited trd w/ 5.7' bed?
Do you have a link to purchase this model?
How far down does it drop the OEM accessory rails?

Where do you get the rubber bumps?
How much?

Just installed this. Not sure what the 2 prop rods are for on the rail system. Any idea?
Keeps the cover propped up against the glass when all the way opened. When driving it'll stay up.
@@BillyOnroad figured that out immediately after posting this lol. Thanks for the video made my install a breeze.
Where can I get those flag badges?
Theyre on amazon: MULL USA 3d Flag
MULL USA 3D Metal Flag x2 emblem... www.amazon.com/dp/B084HPPQZZ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
How much u pay for
Toyota won’t let you add this to your build if you get the spray on bed liner for some reason.
Strange! You can always order it later. Spray in liner wouldnt affect the install.

There is a recall on these covers. That's why they are on back order.
Recall go check yours
