Thanks for the video. I had my OEM bed cover installed at a dealership about two days ago after watching this video. So far I like the cover very much. No rain in the forecast for the next few weeks so I’m thinking about a car wash to check for leakage. All I want is to keep the groceries dry.
@@stevenwelchtoyota - Thanks for the response Steve. That video did give me a great metric or method of comparison. I will be getting to the automatic car wash soon I hope. I am assuming that since those bed clovers have been on back order for several months and I just purchased mine on 07/24/2004 that the bed cover recall is not an issue now. Surely they would not have installed it if there was a potential problem.
@@stevenwelchtoyota - Thank you again. I did recognize the water passage at the tailgate is part of the design. I think it’s a good one in this price range. So far - So good.
I have this same cover on my 2014 Ford F-150. It’s a great cover however, I believe this one is improved. I just bought a 1794 Tundra this weekend that’s equipped with this cover. The first thing I noticed is it seems much stronger than the one on my F-150. Several years back I had it parked in a camping spot under an Oak that was dropping acorns. They actually left small little dents in this cover. Pushing down on this one it seems to be much more durable. Secondly, the one on my new Toyota Tundra is much lighter in weight that my old one. That really comes in play when you’re folding all the panels. I’ve got some shoulder problems and my old one was really getting to be a pain the last flip or two. I’ve hauled with it with the rails locked in place and they do great! My old one didn’t have the buckles though. That’s a nice addition as it doesn’t obscure your vision though the back glass
Oh and one additional comment. My old one said to be sure to lift the last panel up before you close the tailgate so it wouldn’t damage the weather stripping on the end. Seems (?) this one doesn’t need that? Oh and it looks great spraying (at least on my old Ford) Aerospace 303 protectant. Has to be reapplied often but sure protects against sun damage Finally, when I bought the F150 I purchased an extended warranty (7/70k) and that covered this cover as well. Might want to ask if This ones covered on extended warranty as well

I bet 1/2 the cost of this hard top and better since rolls up less than 6 inches of wasted bed space upfront and super easy to take off if need be. PLus biggest drawback is not seeing on the folding up one like this out the back rear window, yet another safety issue not seeing behind the tundra while driving.
