In this video, you'll learn about how and why girls become sorceresses in the Witcher universe, how Triss fairs with Yennefer and how her personality was changed in the first two games.
This video is primarily based on books and Witcher 1 & 2 games - it's up to you how Triss' story unfolds in Witcher 3! Also, if you only watched the Netflix Witcher Series, this video might help you make a comparison between the Netflix Triss and book/game Triss.

I thought you had to be born with magic and triss is supposed to be a natural beauty because she can't use magic on herself so therefore she couldn't fix any deformities which means she was always Beautiful
I picked Yennefer first playthrough and loved it, however since then I played the first two games and I don't see a way I could pick anyone but Triss.

Geralt's voice actor chose Triss in his interview which means game geralt the best version of geralt chose Triss so keep coping.

And there are numerous things disproving it like he was never there that window is inoperable (it is made so it let's the light in not the air so it can't be opened just smashed)
going for the window in that situation would have been the worst option when both the stairs to the lower floor and the teleporter are closer
everyone always talks about Berengar in that city (coz witchers are rare) but somehow nobody saw a naked witcher jumping out of a sorceresses window or they had no reactions?
And on top of all this they never even liked each other and Lambert has never been with a sorceress (before Keira)

I think even the fan theory about Triss and Philippa sleeping together is more belivable in the sense that at least they were in the same place so its physically possible xP

I see you're a Yennefer guy. I'm a Triss guy...quite the pickle.
I chose Triss for quite a few reasons tbh and this is from someone who has only just started reading the first of the witcher books: I like Triss because most of the time when I play rpgs that have romances I go for the character who is least like the protagonist. Opposites attract as they say. Geralt lives in a grim world and you could say Triss is his one bright light amidst all the darkness. Someone who cheers him up even on his darkest days. I also like her because for the very fact that she's not canon. Normally the non canon romances are my favourites, like Zevran from Dragon Age for example, or Garrus from Mass Effect. They turn out to be the most heartfelt and romantic. To me anyway. I also like Triss because despite the manipulation she still treats him as a partner should. Like Geralt says in 3 when talking to Ciri. With Triss there's a calm, like things are the way they're supposed to be. With Yen its fight after fight and always wanting things done her way. But above all I like Triss because of the ending of blood and wine. Both Yen and Triss have completely different endings. You have Yen who gives up everything she is to be with Geralt and just wanting to run far away from all the drama and politics. Then you have Triss who doesn't give anything up, who remains involved with matters of the world. People may consider that a bad thing, but it depends on your perspective. The way I see love is not expecting your partner to change, or to give up everything they enjoy doing. Instead Geralt and Triss continue on the way they live their life, and instead of wanting the other person to give it all up, they work around that and just support each other unconditionally. In the dialogue of Triss showing Geralt the house she wants them to live in he goes along the line of saying I want to remain a witcher? And you know what? Instead of like Shani for example and saying it won't work, Triss accepts him for who he is. At the end of the day all she cares about is them being together. She says "as long as you come back to me" or something along those lines. So yeah I love Triss's ending. It's not everyones cup of tea but I would love a romance like that. Having no expectations of what they enjoy doing. Just let them do it and support that and still be together in some way. Not trying to change anyones opinion just figured since I was on a Triss video i could point out what all my favourite things about her are 🙂

I chose Triss because she kinda reminds me of my crush in IRL( for one my crush is also a redhead). Plus she is better for Geralts mental health. Yen also was quite bitch to Geralt in the games she either used him or made him feel bad about himself. From the other comments it seems there are some book readers who prefer Triss never thought I'd see the day.

I love how all the comments on Yennefer's video are about Yennefer, and somehow pretty much all the comments on Triss' video are also about Yennefer... it seems even when people hate her they still can't stop talking about her.
Most people picked Yennefer. In fact only 30% of players picked Triss. If you however look at the amount of comments who are triss fans. You'll see those are the most butthurt here.
A poll of 7000 players had it pretty much split at around 48% to 52% in Yens favour.

Triss is the only woman for my Geralt.
I have no idea where I got this info regarding the character's ages. But in something I read, it said that Triss is 25 years older than Ciri. So by the Witcher 3 Ciri is about 19-21 years old, so Triss would be around 44-46 years old. Yennefer by the time of W3 is 99 years old, and from what I read, Geralt is 6 years older than Yen, so he would be 105. Again, I have no idea if this is true and I don't even remember were I got this info.

Well, certainly not mine, my Geralt went with Triss (that last bit of DLC "Blood and Wine" confirmed my choice for me as Geralt seems to HATE Witchers who give up the trade and ride off into the sunset to live another life - SPOILER: He does say so when you look for the Grandmaster Witcher Gear Diagrams as there's one Witcher who wanted to sell his Grandmaster Diagrams for a lofty sum of money (not that he made it, he and the buyer were killed by bandits - and the bandits couldn't get the diagrams because the Witcher was cautious: He hid them in a cave infested with monsters!)...that's why I think Geralt could NEVER do so (he might take time off, but he would never hang up the sword for good IMHO!) and that makes the Triss-Ending the right one as he has a home, money and a girlfried, but he still takes on jobs every once in a while (I think he wants to feel usefull and IMHO he and Yennefer would fight even more if they tried playing house (especially without Ciri acting as a buffer between them, which she will not because she's either a Witcheress on the path or empress!) for an extended period of time...note: Geralt himself even says that he's a Witcher, not a cobbler etc. (TW2!) and Yennefer certainly is NOT the village herbalist type (she might not be as high maintenance as Keira Metz who hates the woods and the outdoors and prefers cities, but she likes expensive stuff from clothes (she even tells Geralt not to ruin her expensive undergarments when having sex!) to food and drink, stuff she couldn't even afford without a good position at some court!))
So all in all: I am quite happy telling Yen (note: I still feel sorry for her - kind off - because her behaviour drives most people away from her right quick and IMHO she deserves a happy ending, too) "the magic's gone" and getting back together with Triss (like her personality more, too - I love it that she's so bubbly and energetic and happy!)

IRL I'd choose Triss, much safer choice for a healthy long-term relationships. But love's a bitch :)
Joey Carcamo Well, I think you'd have to look for "Blood and Wine" let's plays...it's part of getting the grandmaster-diagrams (he comments on it when he learns that one of the witchers who had such diagrams wants to pawn them to get start-up-cash for a new life...says that every Witcher has such moments, but is still disgusted that that one actually went through with it...or tried, he was killed during the transaction after all!)
ps: Nice to know that someone agrees with me (retirement really isn't for certain people after all - Geralt among them, more so as Witchers do NOT age (or at least so slowly that they die in combat before they can die of natural causes!))
Played the BaW did all quests all markers on the map didint catch that about witcher gear at all. And when you are so serius about ending cutscene that is with Geralt and Yenn that he ,,retire´´ that is nothing sad about that he would never take a contract sometimes. Ending with Triss is bullshit. Geralt in the books never been too fan of partys a generally places full of people and you know what is said in the ending with the Triss and Kovir rather than Toussaint ? Ok if you like London weather.I am really tired from people who just played games and and fall in love in Triss because of her boooobs but in the book she is not like in a game but I get why gamers go with Triss instead of Yennefer but I can´t let it go when I see that someone who obviosly played only games is telling why should Geralt be with Triss and didint even know Yenn. I know its game where you can choose betwen Yenn and Triss but that option that you can end with Triss shouldn´t be there at all in my opinion, but I get it this is a option for people who only played games. Jožko Predkožka It's not the boobs - if I went by BEAUTY alone, then Yen would be my pick (she's stunning, while Triss isn't bad looking she's not on the same level as Yen!), no it's the constant bickering, fighting, being bossed around, being used, being treated poorly, stuff being kept from Geralt etc. etc. - that's IMHO not a healthy relationship...hell in Skellige one woman actually remarks that she thinks Geralt is wipped (she strongly implies that - says something about asking Yen first if Geralt wants to do something!))
I think Geralt can/could learn from his misstakes (especially after Yen uses him like a stooge to get him to help her get rid of the bond the Djin but on them (which actually saved her life - at least that's what I've read because the rampaging Djing would have killed her, if Geralt hadn't used his wish), after that Geralt can actually decide to love another properly IMHO...)!
Read the books as well, gotta agree, with you, can't really imagine Geralt ending up with triss, but hell, Yen is very well portraid in the game, not just her looks are stunning but she is always bitching about something, treating Geralt as lame as possible and stuff like that, she's much of a woman and she was a hunchback, both of theese things mean that Yen is somewhat bitter (and she is not trully beautiful, she's a byproduct of magic...), whereas Triss is still 'inocent' in regard of love, she's waiting for her knight in shining armor (or witcher in a bloody cuirass) and the developers have made her very VERY helpful towards geralt in all of the games, as if she's was really trying to conquer his heart, and honnestly, after you help Yen out with the Djin and she asks it to lift the spell that binds them together I gave up on her completely, even though I role play as geralt and try as much as possible do mymic his actions based on what I've read from the books, and in the end I didn't regret one bit choosing her over Yen, after all geralt has been through accepeting less dangerous contracts(which means he is really holding on to her, and enjoying his life to the point he doenst want to end dead in a swamp) and spending his days with triss in a nice place as kovir seems to me like a good reward for all that he has done.

I've read some comments here and in other vids related to Yen and Triss and even tough some players read the books, they still chose Triss over Yen and I can understand why. Both of them have bad past and none of them are angels, you might say Triss is worst, well that might be true or not but in the 2nd and 3rd game I can see she tries hard to redeem herself for her mistakes in the 1st. I would have loved to see anything of Yen in the first two games just to know more about her and to start choosing between them from the beginning and to make it easier in the end but it wasn't the case so I was really attached to Triss when the 3rd game came out... and that was until Yennefer appeared to confuse me because I could see how much they still loved each other and the past they shared although it was very stormy, it's like developers tried to make Yen your default choose and I was like “what? What do I do now with Triss? My heart is confused”.
Well, my view is that the point of the games is to give you the chance to change story as you want, by choosing whatever or whoever you want so there’s no obligation to read the books to play these games so you must choose Yen (how is a bit implied in this video) because (for some players who read them) she's Geralt's only and true love and Triss is a b*tch, etc. I think the games are aimed both for the readers and casual gamers or those who love the franchise from the beginning just to know a bit about the story in the books. And what I've played until now makes me think that although Geralt loves Yen he begins to feel many things for Triss so it's up to you with who you want to finish the trilogy. In my case I'm torn choosing between them because I don’t want to let Triss leave or broke Yen’s heart, and a true story, I haven’t played the game in a while trying to decide this. I just want to make best decision because I think there’s not a bad one, but I'm leaning a little towards Triss.
If Yen is Geralts destiny, why did the developers end up adding a ton of romance scenes between them basically enticing you to pick the calm and sweet Triss over the completely opposite yennefer? Just a thought
Yen is his one true love in books the games arnt cannon
Read the books and never even consider Yen in games. She was no angel in books as her supporter like to claim, they all made mistake. One example, she used him to get back at people who wronged her. Problem with Yen is, she acts superior and behaves like Geralt is an ornament that accents her rather than an equal partner. Yen never stood a change in the games because I had the choice. Lore canon are just words for people who lack the courage to pick a moral choice. The author prerogative, but while I have a choice in game, I'll always settle Geralt with Triss, because there is life there. Triss offers Geralt something Yen cannot, but to each their own. Triss will always be the morally right choice.
I know what it's like to return, with your demons and then have to deal with a woman like Yen, Triss is bar no mean perfect, but she can offer Geralt a peace Yen cannot. Geralt in game is also more mature than the book. Geralt in the book was a nice cute pet to Yen and to think he wasn't is foolish. He can "play house," and he doesn't need to die a miserable sad man because of the canon crap. He can still be a witcher and have a home to return to with Triss waiting. How long will he and Yen be able to tolerate each other before their next fight and separation? The last wish was a great mission in game because Geralt can finally open his fucking eyes and grow a pair.

Brilliant comment, mate! I so didn't want to do "Last Wish" mission for Yennefer ( I can't stand her nor in books nor in the game) but in the end I was so happy I did that mission. It was so good to get a bit of revenge on her, hehe. TBH I killed djin two times in a row so I could hear dialogue twice. It felt so good! :D

I don't care much for Yen if she change to me it perfect the way she is. I say she don't stand a chance because she don't in my eyes. Like I said, arguing about this is going no where, I read the book and never liked Yen not a bit. If you read into what the characters did and why you place yourself in their position and then you understand how life truly is. Besides, uou just proved my point. Yen made mistakes too, and Triss and Geralt got together in game while Triss was thinking Yen was dead. No one mentioned Yen because it was good ridden to bad rubbish. Please, that a childish way of looking at things. "Your friends love" so she should watch Geralt suffer and ignore him.\? Oh BTW it was Geralt who initiated the relationship. He told her he felt something.
Ignore Yen's petty selfish wrongs, make excuses and then well say oh it wasn't that bad. Triss helped Geralt numerous times. Oh well, to each their own. C'est la vie. Yen will never stand a chance in my eyes. The actions must be judged based on the intent as well. If you add games, Ciri now older clearly don't see Yen as much, she don't trust her and cares little because they both know the type of person she is. The whole argument that you are playing an RPG like Geralt would is silly honestly. RPG you have the choice, after wish Geralt has no reason to stick with Yen. RPG is played base on what you the player would do.
Geralt is older much more mature than in the book, Ciri too and Triss, to put him with Yen is like condemning him to a shitty miserable life. Based on their relationship on book how long do you think they'll last before they fight and breakup? Not very long and this time no wish to draw him back.

First, you say this ^, but your bottom comment argues against this. You may not be willing to let Triss's mistakes go, but Geralt will. Because he knows how much she's helped him. If he didn't he wouldn't have gone to her for help. He can be stubborn, and you know that. Remember, it was Triss who convince to seek Yen help for Ciri care.

you said you play RPG as Geralt, then here you use your personal feelings to shun Triss out saying her mistake were too bg for your taste. So, are you doing what you would do were you Geralt or what you think Geralt would do. Truth is, the players are Geralt and there are many choices he could make including sleep with every woman he comes across.
To me, his partial retirement in Kovir, with a summer vineyard in Toussaint sounds like the best. He take small contract and still be a witcher. His life not the someone wants for him. Geralt retiring completely is not going to work certainly not in the type of relationship yen offers, but alas this is a game, and you are free to do as you wish. In my game, wish gone, Geralt chooses Triss and Ciri approves.

What I do not understand is why Yen fanboys continue checking out Triss content and try to shame people who support her. I despise Yennefer in books and in the game. Yen content does not interest me in the slightest. I feel no need to check videos about her and initiate flame wars with her supporters. Yet for some reason Yen fanboys act exactly opposite. It's like they are not convinced that Yen is the best choice for Geralt so they come here and trash talk other option for Geralt - Triss Merigold.

I'm just wondering why everyone always hates on how Yennefer altered/semi-altered her appearance, when it turns out that they all have. Including Triss. That doesn't seem very fair.
Angel G she's 100 she'd be ugly as shit without magic. Triss is in her 40s and would still be pretty fine without it. Not trying to be a douchebag but that's why, one needs magic to be hot and one just uses it for enhancement.

But I still think it's a bit hypocritical to condone the use of magic to alter one's appearance when it comes to one person, but then turn around and shame someone else for doing the same thing simply bc they would not have been as naturally pretty as the. other. Although, Triss wouldnt have needed to make as many alterations to her being, so there is that.
Angel G yeah it's definitely not fair don't get me wrong. Very few things related to sexual attractiveness are fair unfortunately. Age doesn't enhance it even if it makes you wiser, unless a major personality shift occurs within like a decade, so that it more than compensates for the years.
The good news is, there's so many people in the world these days that if we play the numbers correctly I believe we can find our special someone regardless 👍

Even in the books I liked Triss far better than Yen. And especially the games, but I am boycotting #3 until they come up with a fix and include Iorveth, the great and powerful.
Still, both beautiful, so I can understand guys preferences, but Triss seemed to have so much more humanity than Yen.
if there is a witcher 4 coming anytime soon I'd love to see an ice sorceress whose like extremely sexy and can be found in a new icy location plagued with unique frost beast , disease , treachery and deceit or a slave sorceress who can be set free or bought and who has ghostly powers like a wraith or even has some ghoulish abilities.

Eskel appears in the novel blood of elves. He's there when Geralt first takes Ciri to Kaer Morhen...as is Lambert and Coen.

My Geralt always chooses Triss. just makes more sense. she obviously actually cares about him. and doesn't just feel that way like Yen, but shows it to him as well unlike Yen. Plus she is just more charismatic. and from a narrative standpoint, it makes no sense for Geralt to lose his memory, have triss be the one that was there for him, have them naturally fall in love, then when his memory come back he just goes back to the woman who is a B**** to him all the time and just assumed he'd be "ok" after escaping the wild hunt.
and yes, I know detractors will say they have the wish Geralt made tying him and Yen together.....but first of all, you can undo the wish in a quest in the witcher 3....and second, even if you skip that, the wish just means they will always be in each others lives. that doesn't mean they have to be lovers. Just like in real life, you can care about 2 women, but if you care about one more than the other, they are who you will choose. if the love between Geralt and Triss is more than the false love with Yen due to a wish....he can still choose Triss over Yen. They can still be friends though. lol

Trish was, and is a bitch. She just got more brave, more tactful in her manipulacy. But she isn't changed yet. At the end of books, Triss sees how Yen is feeling pity on her. Out of that shame, she throws away her selfish, immature mentality. But she again goes back in her past days in games. Game Triss is still the same Triss from books. From the beginning of the witcher 1 she is manipulating and taking advantage of Geralt amnesia. Her perceived kindness to him was simply done to steal him from Yen. She has just become a better actress. She doesn't act immature anymore. She still has the same mentality, just has changed her act. That shady dark bitch.
Nope, I am not like some typical Triss fans who need to mention one's shits to make another one look good ;) I can make a whole paragraph of Yen, according to the lore to describe her character without mentioning a single shit about Triss. Unfortunately, Triss fans can't 😭

Triss is the better choice, its an actual relationship she it the type that talks things through with her partner. Yennefer has a big problem and thats not that she doesnt care for Gerald but the fact that she does not consider him an equal. this will inevitably lead to a ruined relationship. see it happen in RL all the time, the guy thinks he's got it made with the girl from his dreams but after 5-10 years of marriage breaks off or she breaks off leaving the guy in misery.
for Gerald Yennefer is the high school crush but triss is the one he should end up with, don't care what the books say.

Triss betrayed Geralt and abused him for his memory to stay with him. That isn't a truthful or real relationship. Triss may seem super sweet, but remember she is only doing this for Geralt. When Triss isn't with Geralt she tortures a guys balls for the truth and tried to torture other men aswell. This is Triss true personality.
Yen has been honest all the way through. I rather go with the one who doesn't lie about their personality, because that is right way for a healthy and rich relationship. And if you read the books you would know aswell that Geralts true love is Yen.

You can say Triss manipulated Herald wit hoe memoryloss but the fact stays yen knew he was fooling around with Triss... but after the 2 years yen manipulated gerald with this knowledge to make him feel bad..instead she could just as gerald himself told her to fing find him buttt noooooooo she just has to push it in his face (multiple times) that he slept with a girl in a bed she has never seen before and folllows with throwing it out of the Window.. the Triss als used the fact that yen treats him like a dog...and just to throw some more hate on gerald and yen the were in a off/on relationship for almost fecking 20 years that no healthy relationship in my eyes al the more with there prolonged lifespan
Screw destiny... I prefer Triss over Yennefer because Yennefer treats Geralt like garbage. It actually makes the game and love triangle work out nicely. Though he still loves Yennefer he knows there is no happy future if he choose her. people say yen have reason to be the way she is based on the books and her past but then all Witchers have reason to kill anyone so that does not justify her attitude.
