    Listen to the way other professionals talk about Farrell, that’s all you need to know.

    • @patrickchilds2987

      You forget that most fans on here won’t have played the game at any decent level or wouldn’t watch rugby outside the international window. Fans are by nature emotional and Farrell uniquely polarises fans like almost no other player . These fans are usually reactive based on the results of the last game , which is why they change their minds on players after every game . They aren’t interested in how professional players who have played with Farrell or against him regard him, or how well he is regarded by coaches and refs . They aren’t interested in looking at his match or career stats or achievements, they prefer to talk in generalities about his game or a perceived idea of his character. But that’s the nature of fans now, social media has allowed them a opportunity to comment. Universally on rugby content almost nobody talks about the actual games, changes in a teams game plan, technical skills of players, it is normally about an individual player they either like or they hate. Refs are fair game too, irrespective if the fan actually understands the refs decision or interpretation or even what the law is being referenced actually is. Certainly refs make mistakes, they always have but now they are under closer scrutiny of fans , and increasingly come under criticism and accusations of bias and corruption. Some take too far, we have seen refs and players being threatened. These are no doubt the same people who at the same time will hypocritically espouse the superior ideals and values of rugby of the game and sportsmanship over other sports like football while happily slandering players and refs in the game they have never met even less understand . When did rugby fans become so precious and pathetic ?

      That's in the past, and one of the reasons we haven't evolved. Just like still picking youngs at 9. Clearly Ford still has it in him to control a game, but Farrell provides much less kicking options, and is predictable. Not to mention his tackling! Start Ford at 10 then bring Smith on when it opens up a bit is our best option.

    Everyone goes on about Farrell being this great leader and talisman, but where has that got us the past few years? Its like his form means nothing and he has to just be shoehorned into the team because of who he is. Can anyone think of one game in the last few years where Farrell had the influence that Ford just had against Argentina?

    • @clitering
      @clitering 11 месяцев назад

      Spot on. I think Faz, as good as he is, holds England back. Or at least the style that suits him - and to some extent England - straightjackets us and when we play a more creative 10, we look all at sea. This is a bit harsh but at this point I think he delivers more downside than up in the context of catching the leading teams and the speed of the game.

      Ford is playing exceptionally well but aren’t you perhaps exaggerating Farrell’s playing by an exponential rate.
      1ted against Wales and 2 yellow cards in 107 England games. The first card was for obstruction against Australia and the other for killing the ball against NZ . By your count he should be in the hundreds and yet…..
      Ford can certainly read a game and he is a great player , and it’s fine if you want him. But and I’m guessing you are an England fan why are slagging another English player with total bs to validate your own player. Why ?

    No disrespect to Farrell, I've no doubt he brings a lot to the team but he kills our attack. He has no running game and any time we get in the red zone he's compelled to kick the ball rather than let players outside him try and create... and while he may be a great leader I think the strength of his personality has a stifling effect on the others around him. I think back to when England picked Cipriani against SA and Faz kept stepping in at ten and refused to pass him the ball. Then Cips pulls out a worldie kick in behind to draw the match and Faz is fucking screaming at him. I'm so bored of watching the Owen Farrell show. The likes of Smith and Ford are never going to play well with Farrell trying to run the game from 12. If he was a number 7, it would be different but you pick a 10 to create and he doesn't do it I'm afraid.

    • @hafidkouloun6405

      @@hafidkouloun6405 he didn't do anything because Farrell literally stood at ten the whole game and didn't pass it to him.

    Fazo should've never been captain in the first place. He's a good player but lacks the qualities to lead a team. He lacks discipline, can't control his emotions & gets involved in stupid scuffles over trivial stuff. Ben Youngs, Courtney Lawes or Maro Itoje would've been better long term choices. But hey, this is definitely Farrell's last world cup.

      Just ny opinions here but let me share them. I dont like the idea of Itoje as captain. He's a great player but I believe his character deficiencies are as bad as Farrells. You'd be sending a message that his off the ball antics and awful attitude in wining and losing is commendable. Ben Youngs is like butter, melts under any heat, we all saw rhe 2019 final where he genuinely gave up trying after 30 minutes.
      Lawes seems to a great job as captain though. Hes calm, he leads by example. He makes good decisions and he seems to inspire his team mates.
