Dualsense edge drivers are now available on pc. Steam now allows you to remap back paddles and fn buttons. It will show up as a literal steam controller, but is 100% compatible without buying the software. In my opinion the controller is really meant for hardcore fps gamers as they mostly care about stick drift so swapping thumbstick is a literal make or break deal. Shorter battery life is also not an issue as most of those type of players play on monitors anyways. So unless you’re a hardcore fps gamer who plays on monitor, I would not recommend the controller. They made this controller for me, I play at 120fps on a monitor with my ps5, and my controller always plugged in for latency. And also on pc I speedrun games, but making my profiles on the ps5 or paying 5$ doesn’t really seem that bad even though it’s aggravating. The stick drift situation is still shitty tho
Only issue I’ve had is a “double click” on my L2. First it started with the lowest trigger setting then a few days later it happened on the second setting down. Oh and after 3 days of Apex abuse, I got stick drift already. But from a PS4 controller for 10+ years, I’m loving it.
Man, I got my Edge Sunday, and I love it, the SCUF Reflex was my favorite controller by far, now its the dualsense edge, alot less hours than you on it, but man I love this damn controller, my only downvote is that it doesnt have the same clicky triggers as my SCUF, but i am amazed at how they were able to keep the adaptive triggers, and still include a trigger stop, also LOVE the controller cable lock, im almost snatched my PS5 off my desk because of this lol, but that shows how well it works, I love the paddles, but I use one paddle on the right & a dome on the left, also cant wait for Gulikit to release the Hall Effect sensor based thumbsticks for this controller, 100% gonna be picking those up, and as far as the DSX software on PC, it works, and 5$ was better than spending 400$ plus on a PS5, and the battery thing isnt really a big deal for me because wether im on my PS5 or PC, I play wired, this controller is for a VERY VERY VERY niche market, but all in all, man I love it, and as always man great and informative video, keep it up
I appreciate it man! And tbh, I personally love it as well. But like you, I play wired on PC and thoroughly enjoy the DSX software. Niche for sure, a lot more niche than many other pro controllers but it was certainly a good first attempt from Sony! I'm all in for them making their own pro controllers, glad they finally got around to it
I had to send my Scuf reflex FPS in for repairs. Now debating if I should get Dualsense Edge for the long wait till the Reflex comes back. Currently playing with regular Dualsense, Not having back paddles is no fun when playing Rank.
I was about to be pissed when I seen the extra stick in your case.. I was like mine didn’t come with a 3rd extra stick module. Then I read the manual says it’s sold separately 😂😂
I’ve pushed my DualSense Edge to over 7 hours. I transitioned between COD: MWII, God of War Ragnarök, GT7, Sifu, and Kena: Bridge of Spirits until my Edge finally died. Haptic Feedback + Adaptive Triggers on MAX and the light bar dimmed to minimum.
My only complaint is that it is top heavy. There isn’t much balance and it feels like it’s going to fall forward out of your hands. There should be an adjustable counterweight option for the handles/grips. Also, taller convex sticks would have been cool.
so realistically, would u say its worth to switch to over the elite series 2? i love everything about the elite, but i have to get a replacement every 2-3 months because the bumpers have the durability of a gold pickaxe
yeah thats y am scared to spend 200 on duelsense edge ps5 controller worst ive seen playstation put out I also lost 2 controoler one to the right side bumper and sticky square button
How are you replacing a controller that's not even made anymore every 2-3 months lol. Original elites sell for more than series 2 so yeah, I'd make the upgrade. I'm not sure about reliability, but the series 2 has more features and the way the trigger stops work is much better.
I rest hands on the dome back buttons I feel since the shape of it allows you to just rest your middle fingers on it, however most reviewers are reach for it.
I've been using mine mostly on PC (wired) and can't really fault the hardware much, but the software situation is embarrassing. Something that the review here doesn't mention is that you can't get Dualsense features when using the Edge on PC. No trigger effects and no haptics.
@@vCuda If I recall correctly, the main board of the dual sense edge is different from the normal Dual sense. Which is the main reason why almost nothing supported this controller on release like DS4. Thus, some games that already support the dual sense features on PC actually do not support those same features if you use a dual sense edge. On the other hand, if you overclock dual sense edge through a cable, you get insane speeds like Max 1ms delay. I do not own it and this information I got from several different reviewers. So don't quote me on the accuracy of those.
I've had 4 ps5 controllers, 2 have some massive stick drift to the point where the controller is no longer usable The idea of being able to swap sticks isn't perfect since it won't fix drift but it's still better than nothing The possibility to swap sticks should be mandatory on pretty much every controller tho, especially on the Series 2 elite controller, the adjustment thumbstick tension feature on this thing makes it super prone to stick drift, it's beyond awful I swear💀 Epic vid btw, I was waiting for this review. Your vids are always pure comedy lmfao
Same to you man! And I think the Edge would work wonders for you, you're right, it is better than nothing. It isn't a true fix, but its the best we have until then. Hopefully the Series 3 has something like this, or even better, hall effect sticks
I'd rather buy replacement thumbsticks every year or two than the entire controller. I go through controllers cause I'm picky, this is very appealing to me personally, might wait for black Friday sale or something. I have 2 dual sense with the extreme rate rise 4 paddles now, they work amazing but hard installation and if you get drift you got a shit show to swap to another controller
This video is nearly a year old but the Dualsense edge now has complete support from reWASD, steam input, joyshockmapper, etc. It's very expensive but it's the best PC controller currently.
I’ve been really enjoying the Dualsense Edge. It has full support on Steam now which is really nice. It’s also much more comfortable to use than the original dualsense. The stock Dualsense actually hurt my hands to use. When holding the device, my pinkies would naturally dig into the sharp corners of the handles. On the edge those handles have been rounded off like an Xbox controller so it’s very comfy to use. Battery life definitely sucks, but the feature set and ergonomics are too good to ignore for PC and PS5. And the price is whatever. I just want a good controller that won’t break in 3-6 months (Elite Series 2 🙃).
@@Yhwach909 if you use Steam Input you have full access to the paddles and extra buttons to be remapped to whatever you want. That being said, most games that use the dualsense natively on PC (Spider-Man, Returnal, etc) require it to be disabled, which means no remapping if you want dualsense features.
@@Yhwach909 Ds4windows was recently updated to be able to use the controller, and the pads. You can now also use the Fn buttons and map them to any button/keyboard key,.

Among the Pools of shitty "Pro controllers" right now, this one is the best, Idk why but the whole industry are really shitting with their controller right now. The absolute best controller in term of Reliability and Durability is Still the standard Dualshock 4 from 2016. What a disappointment for the whole industry.
Has Steam/Valve implemented support for the Dual Sense Edge the way they did for the Elite, where even keyboard inputs can be used on the controller? That would at least makeup for the lack of foresight on Sony's part concerning the PC.
I agree with everything u said about the dualsense edge, i aint a pc player so i have no problem with it, tho i do agree they need a pc accessible website, i hope sony can make a dualsense edge website for the dualsense edge for pc
Thank you for making an objective review on this. A lot of other reviewers are saying the battery life is the only downside of this $200 controller have low standards, I guess
ReWASD works better for mapping on the dualsense edge. Also I use 1 paddle and 1 button because I can rest my fingers on the back of the controller without touching the button unintentionally which is more comfortable given my current mapping.
I’m gonna gonna buy it till the 4 back button comes out. I think the half domed levers are perfectly ergonomic. I was wishing for something like that in a long time. But 2 buttons man. It’s not the deal for me and 200$
I wouldn’t expect sony to release a different controller with 4 back buttons unfortunately, which I find very disappointing. I’d think overall the pro controllers that are out now are what will be available
I bet I know why it only has two paddles. Sony was probably in shock when the official add on for the PS4 controller sold so well. (It was impossible to find for a little while). Sony looked at those numbers and thought 2 paddles, that's what the consumers want, good enough. That being said Sony did a great job for an add on. Once attached those paddles felt like they are actually molded into the controller itself. I can understand in that case why there were only 2 paddles, as there is no room for 2 more with that design, but in the case of the Dual Sense Edge there is no excuse. Unless they are planning to come out with a 4 paddle model in a year or 2 to make people double dip.
I can live with the battery issue because I sit directly next to my console and PC do a wired setup isn’t the end of the world but lack of native PC support is kinda ass. Might wait for some kind of software support to comes out to allow the full functionality on PC without third party programs.
I see you've dismantled a thumbstick module in part of your video. How easy are the modules to take apart? Is it just a few clips and screws? I guess the cool thing about stick modules means that it's now even easier to fix a drifting stick maybe? You don't need to tear into the controller's main PCB and desolder any rumble motors. Literally just open the thumbstick swap/repair the potentiometer and carry on.
Its a single screw! And for cleaning purposes, as well as dismantling and cleaning the potentiometers I think this makes it far easier! Its a normal stick, soldered to the same sort of pcb as any other controller, with some type of custom connector. Its very simple, hopefully the sticks are at LEAST average in terms of consistency. Id call that a win lol
Personally I use the ps5 controller with xtremerate hair trigger mod. I am loving that setup for ranked play in cod. I wonder if I can install the same hair triggers on dual sense edge. I know its a pro controllers but I am sweaty and like competitive play. Only want the swappable thumstick feature f4om this controller. I can claw and don't need the back buttons. I hear the triggers aren't instant like the extreme rate kit. Lmk cuda 🙌 great vid 👌🔥
Man.. I really want to buy my first pro controller and the Dualsense Edge looks as though it just might be.. should I wait any longer? The reviews on the Elite Series 1/2 are comical still up to this day.. 4-5 star reviews but almost everyone has had to replace it within months of owning it. Hmmmmmmm?? I've only played with stock controllers as I've never needed paddles to decimate.. but I do want to give it a try. Oh, I do not have a PS5 and don't plan on owning one as I play on PC. This video is fantastic and REAL. Every other video about this controller says the same thing over and over...

Soo sad they don't put 4 backs buttons 😢😢😢.. I can pay 250-300 if they put 4 buttons. I'am stuck with custom controller who have stick drift after 4-6 month.. thank for your video!
Quality content as usual. I don't know if you have a battle beaver review out yet. I've been seeing a lot of controller fps pros that have been using BattleBeaver products. I wanna hear your opinion on it.
after using the edge for a lot of hours mainly only on pc I would say it's really good if you don't care about the battery life also I don't use the back paddles or buttons I know it sounds stupid buying this controller but I think it's worth it for me I used to have stick drift controllers every 3-5 months and I had to either buy a new controller or fix and both options are really expensive in my country and I was already use to playing with regular dualsense so the dualsense edge was my best option also I love the high dome joystick but they aren't as high as using high kontrolfreeks, besides that I think that the edge is a really good controller if you already play with the regular dualsense and you have constant stick drift issues(Also I heard gulikit is trying to make a hall joystick for the edge so that also was one the factors that make me buy the edge)
I think sony should of marketed the controller to use wired. Ik that sounds bad but if you using a pro controller why would you use it with Bluetooth it adds so much more input delay and you are using the controller for competitive gameplay. It just doesn't make sense
For pc i go for series customs from battle beaver, i might be getting this for my ps5 though bc i dont feel like having to cash out for multiple rollers when i only use my Ps5 for exclusives
So if it has 2 paddles what I've learned through internet research is that scuf actually has patent licensing on 4 buttons or something so basically you have to pay scuff a premium to do it, think this may be the reason dual sense edge doesn't have 4 back buttons
If I remember correctly, that was for their specific paddle design for previous generation SCUF controllers. There are plenty of 4 button controllers ranging from $80 to $200 and I couldn't imagine them all paying scuf a premium for one of their features. I'll look into it further though, thanks for commenting!
You don’t have to buy a software anymore if you play through steam as it lets you customize paddles as well as the Fn buttons through the steam controller configuration. However there’s no support for adjusting the sticks/adaptive triggers if you care about that.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to replicate this. No matter what I do, the edge won't work in steam under any circumstance unless using an emulator like DSX I don't know why, but the edge seems to behave differently after being connected to a PS5 console. Itll show up in steam afterwords, but if the controller doesn't first connect to a PS5, it won't work on PC for whatever reason. I believe some sort of an update takes place when connected to the console. That update alters the firmware, allowing it to be used elsewhere after its complete. At least thats my best guess, at this point, I have no actual clue whats causing this lol.
@@vCuda I see. I don't have a PS5 and I play on PC so I used the steam beta client originally to just connect it and remapped my paddles and Fn buttons, the only issue is that it portrays it in game as an xbox controller with xbox prompts. Now they released that beta update to the main steam client and it still works fine for me.
I attempted this after hearing about it, but wasn't able to replicate whats been rumored. If I can find any more information on it in the future, ill be sure to post a pinned comment about it!
Only thing that annoys me is lack of support on pc games still. No pc software to change stuff on the controller like u can on ps5 because Sony is anti pc and that the second trigger stop feels the exact same as the last one I’m sure there’s like no difference between them.
what do you mean that the controllers back paddles are not remapable. maybe when you made the video that was through. but i doubt that. if you have steam you can fully rempa the back paddles to unique inputs instead of just copies. even the function buttons are fully remapable. also rewasd is capable of the same thing, but that program is not free.

Only issue I’ve had is a “double click” on my L2. First it started with the lowest trigger setting then a few days later it happened on the second setting down. Oh and after 3 days of Apex abuse, I got stick drift already. But from a PS4 controller for 10+ years, I’m loving it.
What does that double click mean?
I'm all in for them making their own pro controllers, glad they finally got around to it
@@vCuda Agreed man it was a long time coming, but I think they learned from others mistakes and improved upon it, especially the XB ES2
I had to send my Scuf reflex FPS in for repairs. Now debating if I should get Dualsense Edge for the long wait till the Reflex comes back. Currently playing with regular Dualsense, Not having back paddles is no fun when playing Rank.
I waited for this video more than I waited for the controler itself 😂
Yessssss!!!!

Yeah really they had concave taller sticks, taller convex should have been obvious… but so should 4 back buttons as well
Dude, nice video. First I’ve seen of ur channel and I’m impressed w the editing and personality. Good shit brov.
Never seen your channel b4 today and I'm a fan just because of your sense of humor. You had me dying of laughter 😂keep it up
so realistically, would u say its worth to switch to over the elite series 2? i love everything about the elite, but i have to get a replacement every 2-3 months because the bumpers have the durability of a gold pickaxe
yeah thats y am scared to spend 200 on duelsense edge ps5 controller worst ive seen playstation put out I also lost 2 controoler one to the right side bumper and sticky square button
Thats what a good portion of this video is about... lol
Lmfao 🤡💤
I've had 4 ps5 controllers, 2 have some massive stick drift to the point where the controller is no longer usable
The idea of being able to swap sticks isn't perfect since it won't fix drift but it's still better than nothing
The possibility to swap sticks should be mandatory on pretty much every controller tho, especially on the Series 2 elite controller, the adjustment thumbstick tension feature on this thing makes it super prone to stick drift, it's beyond awful I swear💀
Epic vid btw, I was waiting for this review. Your vids are always pure comedy lmfao
Same to you man! And I think the Edge would work wonders for you, you're right, it is better than nothing. It isn't a true fix, but its the best we have until then. Hopefully the Series 3 has something like this, or even better, hall effect sticks
how does it not fix drift i'm confused?
@Marcel W he went over it in the video.
I use the domes for my controller because the paddles are too easy to press for on the couch gaming
I'd rather buy replacement thumbsticks every year or two than the entire controller. I go through controllers cause I'm picky, this is very appealing to me personally, might wait for black Friday sale or something. I have 2 dual sense with the extreme rate rise 4 paddles now, they work amazing but hard installation and if you get drift you got a shit show to swap to another controller
great review, i love you. i did get stick drift after 1 month of cod playtime with the controller, the thumbstick quaility is a**
This video is nearly a year old but the Dualsense edge now has complete support from reWASD, steam input, joyshockmapper, etc.
Does the paddels work on PC as they should?
@@Yhwach909 if you use Steam Input you have full access to the paddles and extra buttons to be remapped to whatever you want. That being said, most games that use the dualsense natively on PC (Spider-Man, Returnal, etc) require it to be disabled, which means no remapping if you want dualsense features.
@@Yhwach909 Ds4windows was recently updated to be able to use the controller, and the pads. You can now also use the Fn buttons and map them to any button/keyboard key,.
@@Anna_Rae so if I used steam to remap that will apply to other games? such as rocket league on epic?
@@vChrome97 who uses paddles for rocket league😂
Love your videos. I don't know much about editing. Did this actually take 250 hours?? If so props dude 😎.
Love these reviews cuda. Keep it up
I use a button on the right and a paddle on the left. This controller is only meant to hold me over until I get my Hypr controller, which will then be the controller that holds me over until I get a Battle Beaver again lol
Among the Pools of shitty "Pro controllers" right now, this one is the best, Idk why but the whole industry are really shitting with their controller right now. The absolute best controller in term of Reliability and Durability is Still the standard Dualshock 4 from 2016. What a disappointment for the whole industry.
nice, was deciding between this or the victirx pro bfg. Since my main platform is steam/pc. I think ill go with the victrix. Nice video cuda🤝
Victrix has a build in deadzone so not that great for fps games
@@vincentvandeperre1670 o word thanks, i mainly play rpg and fighting games.
7:50 saammmeeee it feels just like the PS2 it’s so neat
ReWASD works better for mapping on the dualsense edge. Also I use 1 paddle and 1 button because I can rest my fingers on the back of the controller without touching the button unintentionally which is more comfortable given my current mapping.
I always play wired and I play on ps5 mostly so it’s an easy sell for me
I saw in the last 3 days most of your vids about pro Controllers and I am gonna buy the aim thank you. U earn a sub
They're sending out a PS5 controller in April for a review! Can't wait to try it, always hear generally good reviews from about their products
They took the most “sony” way around this controller.
Let’s Effin gooooo! I’m looking for a new controller currently. Oof I’m just gonna get the Wolverine
@@vCuda that's great to hear. Waiting on Gullikit in case they make their compatible Hall thumbsticks.
I'm ngl idk if the special edition version of the powera fusion pro 2 is a different from the original because I've had mine for a year and 2 months now with no problems whatsoever
😂I love your content I absolutely hate your mustache. Keep it up bro I'm subbin
@Vcuda can you do a review on installable back paddles for controllers
Have a review of the StrikePack Eliminator for XSX coming out tonight or tomorrow! I'll have a video like this for PS5 when I find a few available for purchase. There aren't many for PS5 yet
Soo sad they don't put 4 backs buttons 😢😢😢.. I can pay 250-300 if they put 4 buttons. I'am stuck with custom controller who have stick drift after 4-6 month.. thank for your video!
6:26 absolute savage. No f’s given. This is why I am here. Best f’ing channel in RUclips.
Gulikit already said they gonna make thumb stick replacements which will make this the best option for controllers imo im waiting till then to get one
The Harry Potter headmaster name had me literally cackling out loud. 😂
2025 will see the edge pro with four paddles.?.
2:42 finally an unit system that not only UK viewers can understand, but entire freaking whole world… 😂😂
I like this guy already. Subscribed
Only 2 rear paddles is a major fail.
great review as always
I think sony should of marketed the controller to use wired. Ik that sounds bad but if you using a pro controller why would you use it with Bluetooth it adds so much more input delay and you are using the controller for competitive gameplay. It just doesn't make sense
Great video bro! 👌
Hey cuda, Are we getting a review for the Victris pro controllers?
30 seconds in and am 🤣
you never disappoint
We not gonna talk about how he started rapping 2:54
Whats up with that leather jacket? on ur way for a thriller controller vid?
For pc i go for series customs from battle beaver, i might be getting this for my ps5 though bc i dont feel like having to cash out for multiple rollers when i only use my
Ps5 for exclusives
😂😂😂 the end of the video and the victrix 😂😂😂
I was wondering if i should buy the edge to use on pc as it seems to be so good. But is it compatible with Laptop/PC?
What controller do you use. That's the one I'm trying to buy
Compare this side by side with the Series 2 plz 🙏
If you dim the light of the controller, the battery life quadruples. Atleast that's how it was on the ps4
I run it with my lights dim
So if it has 2 paddles what I've learned through internet research is that scuf actually has patent licensing on 4 buttons or something so basically you have to pay scuff a premium to do it, think this may be the reason dual sense edge doesn't have 4 back buttons
If I remember correctly, that was for their specific paddle design for previous generation SCUF controllers.
There are plenty of 4 button controllers ranging from $80 to $200 and I couldn't imagine them all paying scuf a premium for one of their features. I'll look into it further though, thanks for commenting!
I'll get one when my current controller gets stuck drift.
You are an INDIVIDUAL in a world full of copycats. Keep being you!!
You don’t have to buy a software anymore if you play through steam as it lets you customize paddles as well as the Fn buttons through the steam controller configuration. However there’s no support for adjusting the sticks/adaptive triggers if you care about that.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to replicate this. No matter what I do, the edge won't work in steam under any circumstance unless using an emulator like DSX
I don't know why, but the edge seems to behave differently after being connected to a PS5 console.
They should have went with the hall sensors that doesnt get stickdrift and use that space of that akward stickcontraption to put in a bigger battery
Hey did you look if steam input could be used and maybe unlock the paddles?
I attempted this after hearing about it, but wasn't able to replicate whats been rumored. If I can find any more information on it in the future, ill be sure to post a pinned comment about it!
@@vCuda okey :)
Great review thanks
Only thing that annoys me is lack of support on pc games still. No pc software to change stuff on the controller like u can on ps5 because Sony is anti pc and that the second trigger stop feels the exact same as the last one I’m sure there’s like no difference between them.
2 paddles in 2023 is pathetic
im on pc and have no issues, and the FN buttons can be used as extra buttons.
It comes down to do you want super premium first party feel or more paddles/features guys
What is stopping them from putting similar software on the last controllers? They literally update the controller software regularly
Cannot put similar software on the DualSense due to lacking the new Edge hardware meant for the newer software
For people coming back here. the PC software has be update to be able to fully customized the controller buttons just like on the PS5.
what do you mean that the controllers back paddles are not remapable. maybe when you made the video that was through. but i doubt that. if you have steam you can fully rempa the back paddles to unique inputs instead of just copies. even the function buttons are fully remapable. also rewasd is capable of the same thing, but that program is not free.
