In the summer of 1977 I followed Linda Ronstadt to 5 New England states and 6 concerts... I was 18 Went by myself and with friends... Never forget that Summer.
Linda Ronstadt is one of the best female singers & can sing any genre from ballads to country to rock & even opera. She has had so many hits such as "Different Drum", "Desperado", "Long Long Time", "You're No Good", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" etc. Ronstadt also did two great duets, "Somewhere Out There" (with James Ingram) & "Don't Know Much" (with Aaron Neville). The Eagles were her backing band till they went out on their own & she has covered a lot of their songs. Linda also collaborated with Dolly Parton & Emmylou Harris on a few "Trio" albums.
It makes me sad that a lot of people have never heard of some of these greats that I grew up with. But it's good that you are reacting to them. Still, a lot of people won't watch this and will never hear how great some of this music was. The 60's and 70's had the best music! ❤❤ Thanks for the reaction!!
Thanks for swinging by and checking out the video! So much good music came out of the 60’s and 70’s for sure! We’re just late to the party, but we’re gettin there!
It's because of this woman we have The Eagles. Yep she discovered them and told them they were too good to be just studio musicians. She wanted the world to know just how great these guys were and the rest is history. Thank you Linda!!
This is the most beautiful voice on the planet! Linda Ronstadt is an American treasure with the voice of an angel. She has a forty plus year catalogue spanning multiple genres and she did everything with perfection. She won every award imaginable and richly deserved every one. This song was written by Roy Orbison and Linda made it her own with her rendition. She always had top notch musicians in her backing bands, in fact, her first road band went on to form the Eagles (with her help and blessing). She has the perfect blend of sweetness and power to produce that heavenly sound. Enjoy exploring this deep rabbit hole. 🌺✌️
I was in high school in the early 1970s, back when Linda Ronstadt was becoming hugely famous. Like pretty much every teen then, many long years before the internet, I always waited impatiently for the release of my favorite musicians’ new albums and then bought them as soon as I could. Then I’d hide in my room and play them over and over. A happy by-product was learning most of the words to most of the songs on the album. At the end of the day, that’s why most of us - the present-day Ancients to all y’all whippersnappers - STILL know most of the words to most of the songs from back then. It’s why we can embarrass the young’uns in our lives by singing freely, wherever we are, about Muskrat Love - or - Heart of Gold You’re So Vain Spirit In the Sky In the Summertime He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother Maggie May Mr. Bojangles House of the Rising Sun Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue Teach Your Children Wild World At Seventeen Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round The Ole Oak Tree Papa Was A Rolling Stone Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys And, of course, Blue Bayou.😊 But the song that really separates us from the rest of you is being able to belt out - or intone - "Her Majesty" (yes, the whole song, all the words😁) from The Beatles Abbey Road album.
Appreciate all the info and sharing the memories! She is an incredible artist and I cannot wait to hear more from her! Thanks for hanging out for a bit! 😁
IIRC, one of Linda's parents was Mexican, and she had many Spanish-language hits in addition to her English ones. She was also outspoken in her stance against the Vietnam war, as were many great talents of the era. Truly one of the greats.
This was written by Roy Orbison, a giant talent in his own right, who wrote and recorded scores of hit songs that were covered by artists of many genres. Orbison had a unique, instantly recognizable voice with an incredible vocal range.

Your levels are wayyy too low! You need to bring music to the maximum _without clipping._ Right now you are around 30 dB low and the music is 40dB low. So the music energy for the listener is 1/10,000 of the energy it should be! And I suggest reactors should always be 10-20dB quieter than the music. _ALWAYS_ examine your levels, distortion becomes intolerable with such attenuation. Otherwise, nice reaction, and good luck!
