From Linda's 3rd album, from 1972, " Linda Ronstadt", this cover of Patsy Cline's song is a masterpiece. Linda's powerful and precise vocals add a magical touch to this great classic. It was recorded at The Troubador club in Los Angeles. Linda's emotional delivery is heightened by the great backing instrumentation of the band who later became The Eagles. Happy Birthday Linda, thanks for years of great enjoyment. 🎈🎈🎉🎉🎁🎁🎂🎂 Great reaction Harri. ❤ Beautiful choice Debbie. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦
Oh, my goodness! I am ashamed to say I have never heard Linda’s version of this until right now! Lovely Linda never disappoints. You hit the nail right on the head. Her version is vastly different from Patsy’s. It stands alone. Just beautiful!
Happy birthday sweet Linda. One of the top three singers of all time. Yes Harry, she is gorgeous. I think I've had a crush on her since her Stone Pony days. All of your Linda Ronstadt reactions are on target.p
For me I have my trio of best female singers of all time and they are all on the same level, each one unique and so so beautiful..1A Karen Carpenter, 1B Linda Ronstadt and 1C Marilyn McCoo. How blessed I was to have grown up in their era. Each contributed to the songbook of my life, and each has stirred my soul and spirit in countless ways.
when i was young we would go to LA to see Linda at the clubs . Linda is the best singer i have ever heard live and i worked at a large famous recordind studio in Hollywood. then as stage manger .
The greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation. I Fall to pieces is one of three songs recorded live from her self titled album from 1972. There are another 7 songs from the album that are studio recordings. Great album. Linda's version Crazy from her Hasten Down the Wind album is amazing! Anyway, Linda did have the best vibrato in the business. She learned it from her brother when she was young. He is also a fine singer.
Check out the amazing Ava Cassidy for a more current songbird who can sing absolutely anything, any genre, etc. sadly she passed away just as her music was starting to catch on.!💙💙💙
Willie Nelson said there are only 2 types of men in the world: those that are in love with Linda Ronstadt and those that haven't met her yet. This is a constant.
She’s truly an amazing singer. Love the vibrato in this cover, too. Many thanks, Debbie, for another stellar request, and to Harri, for the joyful reaction. Happy birthday, Linda 🎉
Check this out. Mandy Banett as "Patsy Cline" not yet 20 years old in 1994 on the Grand Old Opry "Singing Blue Moon Of Kentucky". Love Linda since I was9 years old in 1975, but this is utterly surreal. Mandy's voice is just phenomenal. Two of three years ago she was finally named an official member of the Opry Family. ruclips.net/video/IqUiCL7N8gw/видео.html
Linda reaction? I'm here! Got these albums.. Who was not in love with this woman back in the day? Wha-a-a? Shock here too, man! Holy moly! Thanks! HBD, Linda!!
Her voice was so strong and yet so well modulated! Total breath control. A range of 3 octaves! Perfect enunciation! She didn't need much, if any amplification in most indoor venues let alone a recording studio. Didn't need a sound engineer to do much of anything.
Love your appreciation for Linda, Harri! I share in your opinion of her talent and beauty and was lucky to see her live a couple of times in the late 1970s when she was still playing huge stadiums that she easily sold out because she was so popular in the U.S. (no idea why she wasn't then in other countries). She sounded as good or better live as you can tell from his very early live recording. Though not live, Linda's version of Patsy Cline's "Crazy" from her "Hasten Down the Wind" album is amazing as well.
@@meni8015 Glad you saw her live! I looked up the stats - Linda had better success there than most other countries (zero real hits in Britain in the 70s). My 2nd favorite female singer, ONJ, had more chart success in the U.S. than Australia, though the difference between the two countries was much smaller than Linda's.
@@andyb7942 that's interesting. Linda was filling stadiums and all over the radio here back then. Still amazes me that all these American reactors have never heard of her.
If there is anyone you'd want fooling around with your song, it's Linda. She's been my favorite female singer since I first heard her many, many years ago.❤
Still have this album…every song is gorgeous and perfect. I think there’s a lot of us that had her earliest records and who felt Linda was so fantastic and couldn’t figure out why she wasn’t a bigger artist at the time. Eventually everyone else caught on and got ‘Linda Fever’ haha
Yeah, the applause caught me off guard the first time I heard it as well. I love her cover of this Patsy Cline classic, and as you stated they're very different. Thanks, Harri.
I'm a massive Linda fan, and it's no surprise to me that she did a high quality version of this classic .. But IMHO, Patsy's original still holds the crown, and it will probably forever be unmatched .. Linda's was very sweet to listen to, but Patsy gives me chills when she does it.
My 2 favorite singers of all time! I heard Patsy in the early 60's. And I thought no one could top her version. Then Linda did it, Wow! Linda's version is magnificent! She can take any song and totally make it her own. This is a classic example! What a talent. She is supurb! And it was recored live at the legendary Troubadour in L.A.!
Not one bit surprised Linda and Dusty Springfield do covers as good or sometimes better than the original. Definitely one of the greatest singers ever. Yes, she looked absolutely great, many guys really dug her look including myself.
I thought I had heard mostly all Linda's songs and covers, but never this one. She has always been my favorite singer . It's tough to cover Patsy's songs, but she did a fabulous job, as usual. ❤
Harri. Thank you once again for doing great commentary on my request. After reading through the comments it seems most people agree that her voice is gorgeous. Thanks again Harri 🌺✌️
Linda Ronstadt - 1972 1. Rock Me on the Water 2. Crazy Arms 3. I Won't Be Hangin' Round 4. I Still Miss Someone 5. In My Reply 6. I Fall to Pieces 7. Ramblin' Round 8. Birds 9. Faithfull 10. Rescue Me
Another great reaction Henri! Patsy Cline's version is also amazing since she has such a clear voice. But Linda has the knack of taking other's songs and making them hers. She has done this with so many songs, like Desperado, It's so Easy (Buddy Holly), Blue Bayou (Roy Orbison). You have to remember that the artists of the '50s-'80s did live music all the time, and they were so good, that the live versions were often 'perfect'. It is great to see your loving Linda so much! I do too,and I have st about all of her albums (all on CD).

Thanks and great appreciation to Linda Ronstadt on the anniversary of her birthday. What would the world be without her beautiful voice that we can continue to hear every day! I know I do. I think I’ve been listening to Linda Ronstadt for 50 years and she’s probably the one singer I’ve listened to the most. This is an exceptional version; she also did a cover of Patsy Cline’s, “crazy,“ which may have been a little more popular it was on a later album that sold more. That’s also a good version to listen to harry. Props to the slide guitarist; Linda always had the best musicians backing her and saw herself as part of the band rather than a diva. I’ve seen her a couple of times live and I always thought she was a bit shy on stage, especially doing the pitter patter with the audience, but then would launch into a song and it didn’t matter. I’m so glad people are discovering her again.
Normally you would think that a great song like this one by a legendary artist such as Patsy Cline would be off limits but Linda's voice is so special she could take what I consider a perfect song and somehow make it even better. You should listen to Linda cover "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton Harri!
Although Whitney Houston‘s cover is obviously one of her most well-known hits, it’s very different and I think a bit over the top with her vocals. Linda is more of a ballad softer. Dolly Parton, who wrote the song, also did a version and all three are unique and very nice.Dolly Parton is probably the most simple and the most country. Linda is in the middle and then there’s the bombastic torch song by Whitney.
I actually saw Linda with The Stone Poneys at Fillmore East doing 'Different Drum' in 1971 w/Don Henley and Glenn Frey. Wonderful show. Love your reaction to this, Harri.
