Apparently, I couldn't put it together that I had reacted to Linda performing with Aaron Neville a few weeks ago. I truly felt like I was watching a different artist here. Forgive me on that. She is out of this world!
This song and the duet with Aaron were recorded decades apart and Linda looks quite a bit different. Hopefully I’m not the only one who will forgive you. 😃
Linda's voice is so beautiful. She has an amazing catalog and her voice is like a perfect instrument to convey emotions. Songs such as "Desperado" and "You're No Good" are great examples that showcase her vocal range.
@@localnetsolutionsSpanish isn't her native tongue. She doesn't speak Spanish. Her Mexican relatives dropped Spanish in order to assimilate, so her exposure to Spanish was through the songs. But English is her native language.

I strongly recommend diving in. She'll steal your heart. I've seen her live at least a dozen times, own every record she ever made and have yet to find any female vocalist that can move me like she does. She is, in my opinion, the best of the best.

Yup. Count this 75 year old as one of the ones who had a crush on her early on. She did an amazing 3 record album of the American song book when she talked Nelson Riddle in to arranging the music for his orchestra. Round Midnight is a wonderful example.
Just found you -- GREAT REACTION! Many critics feel Ronstadt is the finest female popular music singer ever -- her range, vocal control and ability to cross genres is astounding. I also personally think this is the saddest and greatest unrequited love song ever written. Thank you for not stopping the song and listening all the way through. You have a new subscriber!
I grew up listening to Linda Ronstadt's music. Sad to say, she can no longer sing. But, oh, the joy she gave me over the years. I loved listening to her songs.
I was leaving active duty to fly home from Texas to California in 1970. I hitched a ride to the airport and the Stone Ponies came on the radio with “Different Drum.” This was before Linda became Linda and before she discovered the Eagles and made them her band. I’ll never forget her voice.
Linda Ronstadt belting out this song transports me back 35 years to my darkened bedroom playing this song over & over & over. He said he didn’t think it was working out. Just now as I type this he said the left over chicken would work out fine for dinner, and I couldn’t be happier.
Everytime I hear this song, I cry. I don't even need to listen to the lyrics; the feeling in her voice, the music and everything just combines in a perfect manner!
I cried a little once again just now hearing it. I've heard it zillions of time over the past 45 years, but it still gives me chills and brings me to tears every time. Probably my favorite Linda song.
The most beautiful voice on the planet! Linda could (and did) sing anything. Her career spanned more than four decades and multiple genres. Her voice is a perfect blend of sweetness and power. More please! 🌸💐✌️
"Blue Bayou", "You're No Good", "Desperado", "When Will I Be Loved"........oh, just pick anything ❤This is a rabbit hole you will never get tired of. Thank you for sharing your "rediscovery" (!) of this phenomenal artist.
This woman has such a unique & sweet voice that nobody else has! She is up at the top of my best female rock voices of all time. Its so sad she is dealing with parkinson's disease now =/ thanks for sharing Nick :)
I've been hearing this song over the past 54 years. It's a timeless tale of unrequited love and still brings tears to my eyes. Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
LOL, I could see on your face what happened to most of us back in the day. It's OK, we all fell in love with Linda and that love has only grown deeper over the years.
Linda is an icon…. A beautiful voice and many, many beautiful songs. She is essential in putting the Eagles band together. They were her backup singers and musicians.
Nick, as an old boomer (I just fit in to that generation, being born in '64) it was a real pleasure seeing you discover Linda. I have loved her for a "long, long, time."
The expression on your face says it all. You are beatific …and justly so. She is perfection and a once in a generation artist. Thank you for reminding me of one of my favorite artists of all time.
You head down that rabbit hole that is Linda Rondstat. You will not only enjoy yourself, but you will discover the best mezzo-soprano to ever lend her voice to popular music. Now that's popular music of any genre. She sing's pop, rock, blues, country, Mexican mariachi and light opera. She is the bomb. She is the genuine GOAT. That's right, the greatest of all time.🎉❤😊
She’s just amazing. Loved her back in the day. She had Parkinson’s now. So sad. She was part of the California music scene in the 1970s. Such a beautiful voice. We had it all musically in the 70s. So lucky.
Welcome to the world of one of the greatest singers of the last 65 years. You will enter Country, Rock, New Wave, Pop, Mariachi, Broadway, Standards with Nelson Riddle. Two of her backup players formed the Eagles with her encouragement. She was the first to be in #1 spot on the Rock/Pop, Country and R&B charts at the same time with different songs. In the mid to late 70s she was selling out arenas and had 5 albums in a row that were certified Platinum. She also released an album which became the largest selling Non-English album in the world, selling 2.5 MILLION copies in the first 24 hours after release. Making double Platinum the day after release. Watch the documentary about her career "The Sound of My Voice", well worth watching as it gives a great overview of her musical capabilities. Her last concert was November 2009. She was diagnosed with a neurological disorder progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) similar to Parkinson's which her maternal grandmother suffered from. For some time doctors thought she had Parkinson's but continued testing showed PSP.
The first she knew of her condition was when she couldn’t hit and hold notes as she had always done in concert. She couldn’t be reconciled to performing at anything but her best so she retired from singing. I think her last performance was around 2009. She has since completely lost her singing voice as well as experiencing increasingly reduced mobility, balance, etc. from this devastating degenerative disease. She is still an absolutely amazing woman with a huge heart who continues to have so much to offer (like her work with Mexican-American youth who are learning about and performing the traditional Mexican music of their heritage). She has given us an incomparable gift: a huge body of work sung with her soaringly powerful yet vulnerable voice in a staggering range of musical genres. Thank you Linda.
What I really love besides Ronstadt's voice is watching his reaction, which was close to tears, while he was listening. That was as moving as her performance. Very expressive.
Never saw her live but absolutely adored her voice. What a shame she had to stop singing. Definitely listen to Blue Bayou. Ummm this is your aunt by the way or your sister depending on who sees this!
When she sang, Ms.Linda put all of her soul and emotion into it. She actually went into the song. As far as this particular song goes, like many others I have heard, it has a way of taking you back to your past and experiences that you yourself have had when sung by someone with her talent.

First off, there's really nothing better than Linda Ronstadt's voice, period. But, Nick, thanks so much for listening to entire songs. Your appreciation and passion show on your face. It's so wonderful to see talent like her's appreciated by you.
You're the only man I've ever seen react to a song like this the way you do, it's in your eyes. Please take this as the compliment it's meant to be, I was in my mid 20's when this song first came out , watching you react to it made me think 'where were YOU then!' . LOL, of course you weren't even a twinkle in your mom and dad's eyes! Anyway you made my day.
I grew up with Linda; she’s in my DNA. I just want to thank you for the way you listen, without pausing the song in order to comment. Thank you. The class.
This song with Linda is always paired in my mind with Bonnie Raitt’s I Can’t Make You Love Me, if You Don’t. Both are incredibly “mature” break-up songs
I haved loved Linda since i was 13 years old in 1968. She is a dynamically, emotionally evocative vocalist - the finest woman singer of the last 50 years
I grew up with her music and had the great fortune of seeing her live three times - the first time in the late 70s. Her voice was a force of nature, and she used it with such sensitivity and skill. She never cheated on a performance. I believe history will remember her very fondly. Thanks for your heartfelt reaction and exploring her work.
Linda Ronstadt is one of the most versatile singers of all time. She was instrumental in the formation of The Eagles. After her early country recordings, she did several albums of rock music. She recorded 3 albums of jazz standards that were arranged and conducted by the iconic Nelson Riddle. She did 2 albums of Mariachi music. She followed that off with the album "Frenesi" which was filled with classic South American Dance music. She also sang the role of Mabel in Gilbert and Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance". Then she went back to her roots with several trios with country music legends Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. Sadly, she has Parkinson's disease now and doesn't sing anymore. Check out all of her styles. I would especially recommend her soulful rendition of Jimmy Webb's "The Moon's a Harsh Mistress". I work with music theater students and I always direct them to listen to Linda Ronstadt when they are trying to learn to belt healthily.
I'm 58. My dad died in 2012 at 67. I grew up in the 70s with my dad totally in love with Linda Ronstadt Hearing her always makes me think of my dad and his love for her.
I first heard this song ages ago. Linda Ronstadt is gifted with a beautiful voice and conveys so much emotion. It moved me to see your response, I love a man unafraid to show his feelings. Don't worry, I'm a granny.
I've always loved Linda Ronstadt. So glad you reacted to this one. You should really check out more of her songs. "Blue Bayou" is amazing. She also did a cover of "Tracks of My Tears" which is amazing. But then you really can't go wrong with anything of Linda's. Thanks for reacting.
I was a child when “Long Long Time” was first released & it has always been one of my favorites of hers (I’m 61 now). What a joy to see young people discovering her for the first time! She is truly the most amazing artist!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What a start to a song to react to. Linda has a vast catalog of songs from many genres. Blue Bayou, It's So Easy, You're No Good, Don't Know Much, and When Will I Be Loved to name a few. I know that you'll enjoy these songs too. Thanks.
No one in American music history has had so much success across so many genres as Linda. To this day she has the top selling non English album, had big success in rock, country, Broadway, American standards, helped find the Eagles and more. Legend
She has a huge library of top notch songs. In addition to just having an outstanding voice, she sings with unmatched joy and emotion. He live performances with audiences are also fantastic.
This song received a whole new lease in life when it was featured in the third episode of "The Last of Us" a couple of years ago, sung by the characters of Bill & Frank, and then sung in the background by Linda at end of the episode.
One of my favorite duets of all time is her and Glen Campbell singing "Going to Carolina in My Mind" on the Glen Campbell Good Time Hour. It's available on RUclips and its just beautiful and fun.
Transported you said. So was I, back to the 70s when I got to see her live in a small club, as I was sitting just a few feet away. It was at the Lion's Share, just north of San Francisco. My friend went up and talked to the band during the intermission and they invited him to fly down to LA with them for their next show. When he got back, he said they stayed at the Eagles house.
Nick - I cannot believe you have never heard of Linda Ronstadt. She was the most commercially successful and critically aclaimed woman singer in the fields of Country, Rock, Contemporary Pop and Spanish language for over two decades in the U.S.
I’m glad you finally got to hear the wonderful voice of Linda Ronstadt! I grew up with it and it helped to shape my own singing. She has always been so authentic and yet reached out to so many different genres. If you get a chance, you should listen to her work with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton as well as her 1940s stuff and her ranchero music.❤️
I was fortunate to see and hear perform with the Stone Ponies in 1967. It was at the Golden Bear, a small club in Huntington Beach, Ca. She was amazing. I also The Animals there. Sadly, the Golden Bear was torn down.
You should check out some "Trio" sings by Linda along with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. They sang together on a TV show, and released 3 CDs. There's YT vids of a number of live performances.
Linda Ronstadt's grandparents were German-Mexican. Long long time is very very good. I "fell in love" with her when she was with The Stone Ponies singing "A Different Drum" about 1967-69. I enjoyed this video podcast,,, Kudos,,, keep it up,,, I must say, it happens to me, too, when I hear "Santa Baby", not by Madonna but Eartha Kitt decades before, or "Dream a Little Dream of Me", by Doris Day or Ella Fitzgerald, rather then the magical sounds of Mama Cass. Looked like you were about to cry, that song touched some kind of chord in your heart.
The best female singer of this generation, seen her in concerts 3 times, she can sing anything, such power and vocal range! Although she sings covers, she definitely makes the songs her own, although she can no longer sing today due to her health!
I saw lovely Linda perform 3 times in the 70's & 80's. She was perfect every time, never missed a note. You should check out a live performance of Linda's good friend Emmy Lou Harris.
Linda is the greatest singer in pop music history. Nobody had the combination of beauty and power in the voice. And the versatility was mind boggling. And live she was much better than on recordings.
How in the world could you not have heard of Linda Ronstadt?? She was pitch perfect with an extremely POWERFUL voice. Her albums never did her justice. I had the privilege to see her live twice, I was totally blown away. A small lady came onto the stage and her first song was Blue Bayou, the only thing on stage was a piano, her voice washed over the audience, beautiful and powerful, I had chills with tears in my eyes. It truly was an out of body experience. One of the only people who along with the Eagles that live performances out do their recorded stuff.
Linda was the biggest, highest paid female music star on earth. Pop star, rock star, country star, latin star, Broadway star and more. She was a freaking galaxy. Platinum records and Grammy awards cluttering up the house lol. National Medal of the Arts awarded by President Obama, Kennedy Center honors, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, you name it. And really, she just wanted to make great art. When someone asked how it felt to be on the cover of Time (again) she said 'Who cares.' What a dame.
What moves me most watching shows like yours is seeing the first time reaction of others to what I have always known are great performances. I get teary-eyed, knowing what's going through your mind, hearing Linda for the first time. BUT - if you wanna hear the best Linda, listen in their entirety to her two albums singing Nelson Riddle arrangements of love songs from the 40's and 50's. You can thank me later.
Watch the CNN documentary "The Sound of My Voice" and you will understand what a remarkable singer and person she was/is. She set a standard of quality that few can achieve.
This woman has a GREAT ear for finding and combining singers. She was instrumental in putting together the Eagles. In fact, while she was dating Jerry Brown (Gov. of California) she organized a fund raiser for him. It was a concert outside of San Diego, it was her, The Eagles & Joe Walsh. Best darn concert I have ever been to. And the tickets were a whopping $25 each. Awwww those were the days.
Always one of my favorites from my favorite female vocalist. I saw her in 1975 or 1976, with Eagles as her backup band, singing this song and Desperado. I’m glad a new generation of people can appreciate what an amazing talent she had. What a shame her health issues have sidelined her. Linda always ❤️
Her voice had a captivating quality. She could draw you into a world of feelings you didn't normally feel. It always felt like she was in the industry because of her love of music. She could sing different genres as well. She retired from the industry years ago. She has a major health issue, which makes her music such a gift to everyone.
Just One Look, Desperado, Blue Bayou, Tracks of My Tears, You’re No Good, Somewhere Out There. Some of her best. Enjoy. Legend from the 60’s-80’s. Also check out La Cigarra and the rest of her Mariachi playlist.
She sings songs in Spanish too. I was fortunate to be at a PBS taping of her performing her album Canciones de mi Padre. It’s on RUclips. The whole concert.
You really need to explore the full body of her work - as mentioned, she is probably one of the best vocalists of the last 100 years…and her work spans several genras. I’m always amazed that people don’t know her work.

I grew up in the 70s with my dad totally in love with Linda Ronstadt
Hearing her always makes me think of my dad and his love for her.
I first heard this song ages ago. Linda Ronstadt is gifted with a beautiful voice and conveys so much emotion.
It moved me to see your response, I love a man unafraid to show his feelings. Don't worry, I'm a granny.
RECOMMENDATION:
“LA CIGARRA”
and
“LA CHARREADA”
…I DIDN’T realize what Linda was capable of, until I heard these!!
Linda was able to sing multiple genres as the highest level. That is what make her maybe the best.
One of the greatest female vocalists of the past fifty years. Big Rabbit Hole.
Thanks.
I cannot wait to explore more
Im 68 yrs old .... Ive always loved linda....first crush in my teens ...prettiest girl ive ever seen...still is
No one in American music history has had so much success across so many genres as Linda. To this day she has the top selling non English album, had big success in rock, country, Broadway, American standards, helped find the Eagles and more. Legend
She's one of my all-time favorite female artists.
She has a huge library of top notch songs. In addition to just having an outstanding voice, she sings with unmatched joy and emotion. He live performances with audiences are also fantastic.
my favorite female artist of the 70's. Her music and beautiful voice got me through those years of teenager angst and heartbreak.
Linda also sings beautiful in Spanish 🇲🇽🇺🇸 this lady was so talented in my days ❤❤❤❤❤ it’s a shame she doesn’t sing anymore 🥲
I still get goose bumps to that song. I love Linda's voice.
It was lovely to see your reaction. Linda is a phenomenon. I love her voice .
This song received a whole new lease in life when it was featured in the third episode of "The Last of Us" a couple of years ago, sung by the characters of Bill & Frank, and then sung in the background by Linda at end of the episode.
I came to say that lol. I thought that episode was phenomenal. A great love story.
Yikes!!
One of the greatest of all time. Queen of the 70s
And beyond.
The Trio singing “High Sierra” is beyond beautiful.
They did two albums together, and then there is a compilation reissue
@@frankpeter6851 I keep the three-pack in my car. Yeah, the third disc is largely alternate mixes of songs that are already on the first two.
If you really want to be "transported" Nick, have a listen to her singing with the nelson Riddle Orchestra. She is truly one of a kind!
One of the most beautiful voices. Check out her Nelson Riddle albums. “What’s New” is fabulous!
She sings with raw emotion!
Love is a rose, a great song of hers so is when will I be loved…. Classic linda
Linda is the greatest singer in pop music history. Nobody had the combination of beauty and power in the voice. And the versatility was mind boggling. And live she was much better than on recordings.
Great reaction. You should listen to Linda singing Blue Bayou, and also Tracks of my Tears. And Desperado! All Beautiful!!
You might want to read her bio. She’s won every award I’ve ever heard of!
I'm loving this channel. I can't decide which I love more, the beautiful ballads or Nick's deep heartfelt reactions.❤
Linda is simply the best all-around female vocalist of her generation.
Watch the CNN documentary "The Sound of My Voice" and you will understand what a remarkable singer and person she was/is. She set a standard of quality that few can achieve.
Linda is a legend! It always amazes me when the younger generation discovers someone who is a classic! She had such a range she could sing Opera. 😏
Glad you liked it. One of the best female vocalist of my generation.
This songs brings me chills, and reminds me of my first marriage. I listened to it on repeat for a "long, long time" while I healed.
Linda Ronstadt was the female voice of my generation. She has many many great hits covering every genre of music. 👍👍
Song ends on the IV chord, showing how her emotions are still unresolved. Bravo to the song-writer(s).
