LYRICS:
Through river, root and stone
The distant call of home
So far yet always with us
Inside our hearts and bones
No breadth or sphere
Or white mountains sheer
Can quell the call of home
There is no hearth that is quite as bright
As a flame that flickers free
Though many roads lay outside my door
There is but one that calls to me
Long I locked away
A wanderer's heart
A flame that flickers free
Through river, root and stone
The distant call of home
So far yet always with us
Inside our hearts and bones
No creek or cave
No wild wind or wave
Can quell the call of home
And down where the rivers flow
In shimmers and shade
Here the future is made
Solemn bonds of trust will never fade
Deepest depths and dankest darkness
Withered limbs they drag my carcass
Stole my love and my desire
Curse their skin to bathe in fire burn
Burn
And bathe in fire!!
Through river, root and stone
The distant call of home
So far yet always with us
Inside our hearts and bones
So soft the call of home
One of the things I find more awesome about this song (from my point of view that is) is that it just seems to fit the desire of what is Bilbo's "Baggins" side and yet at the same time it also fits the similar (yet motivated, in part, by entirely different reasons) desire of the dwarves to regain their lost kingdom
"I often think of Bag End. I miss my books. And my armchair. And my garden. See, that's where I belong. That's home. That's why I came back, 'cause you don't have one. A home. It was taken from you. But I will help you take it back if I can"
[The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey]
Walked the entire map of Skyrim playing this in the background on repeat.
I felt like I was in the movie hobbit.
Miracle of Sound never fails to impress :).
hope you find your home in skyrin
this sounds like something you could have found in the movies them self. Brilliant!
that's what I think when ever he makes a song about a movie or videogame
I have never heard an original fan song for The Hobbit this amazing before!! This is breathtaking and so perfect! I have a hard time believing it's not cannon!! I love this song SOOOO much! Thank you!!
Neat bit of continuity with Shadow of the Ash's chorus when compared to this one:
Call of Home:
Through river, root and stone
The distant call of home
So far yet always with us
Inside our hearts and bones
Shadow of the Ash:
Through rubble, rock and stone
The ashes are my home
The silver sting of hatred
It creeps into my bones
Not criticising, just thought it was a neat detail.
Generally, Gav's songs from the same franchise will have repeated linking bits. I'm not sure if they all do.
The13Inquisitor and the rythm is similar i think
2:22 to 2:52.... can't put in words how good it is for me to hear this part. just a masterpiece man.
This song still gives me so much emotions after all this time
"Deepest Depths, and Darkest Darkness.
Withered limbs they drag my carcass.
Stole my Love and my Desire.
Curse their skin to bathe in fire, burn!
Burn!
And may it burn!"
I adora that bit so much.
Feels like something Gollum would say for sure. A bit vicious for Tolkien to have penned, and yet it fits within the world he wrought.
They should hire you for their next Lord of the Rings OST, seriously, this music sounds like it's authentic to their culture, like it actually could be an old song made by ancient dwarves and elves for the high notes. Amazing work man!
This song, as with all successful audible art, almost forces you to lend your ear another turn, else it's tune be forgotten, and is lost. Brilliant work, and truly captures the sense of majesty and fantasy that The Hobbit invokes for so many souls. Just as the book did, this song calls to mind the epic poems of yore. I cannot commend you enough!
Why doesn't someone make a wikipedia page about Gav, he is popular enough, and Dan Bull and Malukah already have one,and Russians already made a page about miracleofsound on wikipedia on their language.
I looked into making one because I am such a miracleofsound fan but there are certain bullshit things you need that he doesn't have and without it the page gets instantly deleted so maybe if I can deal with those I sent an email waiting for a response hopefully I can make some progress soon.
Niko Bellic Go bowling with Roman instead
Niko Bellic No creativity these days,
Loke1104Gaming Very original kid.
It would be awesome if someone could get this sorted. I'm not allowed to do it myself. I have no idea why they won't let me have a page. It's really weird.
WONDERFUL. It could be the end cretid-song of the third movie.
That would be great
Someone needs to make that happen.
maybe, but when theres one thing about the hobbit where nobody can say something against, than the end credit song. the last goodbye frombilly boyd was just great
It's amazing how versatile Gav is from upbeat and cheery to dark and somber he has a truly amazing range keep doin what you do Gav
Your voice gives me shivers...and the song...gods the song is so wonderful
Listened to this for the first time yesterday rather than just in the background, so beautiful.
Kinda reminds me of your "The call" combined with "Dream of the sky" and "Distant honor", fantastic.
Me too!
at about 2:39 I got chills. Great job man. This is incredible!
Was really surprised as I realised that only through this song I was finally able to connect with the plot for the hobbit movies. I've read the book, and it's much more about the treasure and greed of the dwarves... They changed it for the movies... And now, I get it. And must say that I'm really moved by it. The call of home really is a deep sentiment. Thanks for this, Gavin.
I feel I am a Goose, because I have Goosebumps allover my Body!
Greetings from Germany!
If there'll ever be a Hobbit musical, this song wouldn't be amiss in it.
Oh man, this is AWESOME, you just did it again, really amazing! Keep up the great work!^
2:23 I get chills every time. I love this song.
I get the shivers each time. This is so beautiful.....
I love how the music changes with the places and matches the feel of it
The different stories with the motif of home, which does bind them all, which I never realized before now- brilliant! Among the best Tolkien-based works I've seen!
2:22 gave me chills.
WOW Gav...
You are in a posting spree...
DONT STOP :D
Told you guys there was lots of new stuff coming :D
This is just amazing. It truly feels like it belongs in Middle Earth.
And the Gollum-part.. That really made me get goosebumps all over.
The insanity, the urge to have the ring, just the Gollum feeling.. You really outdid yourself with this one Gavin. :'D
This is so epic, it made me cry. An incredible job!
This is the single most beautiful thing I have heard in quite some time. Thank you.
This is something I could totally imagine being in the ending credits. It's a perfect song to end a story with. Beautiful work.
The part with the Hobbits in the Shire made me cry :') The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings were the stories my dad read me when I was a kid, so the feels are getting me :P
Besides you have a great taste for movies/series, you create a music that it could be used as a soundtrack in the movie itself. If someone just eared this songs, didnt watch the clip, it could understand easily what is it about. You're in a good way. Keep it.
Me encanta como personalizaste con un vos, tono y gesto a cada una de las razas de la historia, Excelente trabajo.
Hobbitses? What's a hobbitses, precious?
plural of hobbit?
Christian Heinrich Reference to lord of the rings.
Sammy Curtis-Weight Thanks.
Christian Heinrich I think that plural of hobbit is hobbits.
Felmus Hiand Hobbitses is the plural of the plural.
Oh Gavin, you never cease to amaze me. This is amazingly complex and beautiful. Thank you for putting so much love into your work.
Wow Gavin...you've captured the feel of this movie perfectly! Very epic! Fantastic job.
I love this song. I literally get chills every time I listen to it.
this was beautiful. the different segments, the singing, and how the melody of this song and shadows of the ash is the same in the refrain! especially this last thing is what i love about your songs!
I love how beautifully you capture multiple facets of the same theme in this song. Wow.
Dude. Seriously chills down my body when I listened to this. It's excellent.
Truely astounding song. Perfect to listen to last thing before bed.
just had the most epic eargasm ever
Everything about this song is awesome, especially that Gollum part, that is pure genious.
I don't feel like "Good job as always" even begins to explain how amazing this was. I've been following you for a while now, but this blew my mind by how good it was. I'd dare even say this is your best yet.
Wow you don't stop to astonish with quality of your songs!
Wow. That was incredible! Thank you for sharing.
Brilliant song, brilliant movie. Gave me chills, just awesome!!!
if only I had a beautiful voice as him no one else ever will sadly and when the day sadly comes when miracle dies everyone in the world will stop all wars to pay their respects to such an awesome guy :)
This is absolutely brilliant! I love how you've incorporated each character/race into this song, it all blends so well together and is such an epic song!!
This sounds a lot like the Shadow of Mordor song, no doubt intentionally, especially at the beginning. Makes sense because they are both in Middle Earth. Nicely done, Gav!
Yeah, the 'Through rubble, rock and stone' part of Shadow of the Ash is a callback to this song.
+SomeIrishKid That's partly what I was referring to
It's just...it's so....god i'm speechless.
I got goose bumps all over. This is awesome!
Please make a Gandalf tribute! :)
Thumbs up if you like the idea.
Indeed ! for me Yaaay
+Marko Petäys yes!
+Marko Petäys Before you do it, miracleofsound, read up on the Silmarillion and Gandalf's full history, because it is so much more than we ever see!
I wonder though. While it is true that he is ancient and so much greater than a wandering old man, it makes me think of the elves lament for him versus Sams'. While one was more beautiful, was it really better? Sams' captured a heart of his that I don't know if the elves ever saw. I suppose it couldn't hurt though and having those undertones of an ancient, powerful being would be cool.
He and all of the wizards, have been sent by the Valar(think thats the right term? Cant remember) a long time ago to assist men and elves in their fight against evil. Saruman was the migthiest and Gandalf used to be the weakest or better termed, the most humble. Besides Saruman and Gandalf only Radoghast has an appearance in the books. It talks only about two blue wizards who went to the unmapped east of middle earth, but their fate is unknown. Maybe they fell for evil, such as saruman did.
Now this is what I'm talking about. This is amazing.
I heard ten seconds and I already loved it
2:23 Gave me chills... My god this is perfect
Goosebumps...
Yesssss, I've been waiting for this song since you mentioned it in the latest vlog!
I'm crying right now...
I'm listening to random shuffled play lists while trying to sleep and this come on, and I said to myself this is definitely a LOTR song and bam! Really captures the feeling of the movie
Absolutely beautiful, Gavin.
Whoa, this is so epic and beautiful - I love it! :D
Beautiful, as always.
Just saw the new one... I'm so cracked up on feels!!!!
I know, right? I cried my heart out, when I heard The last goodbye at the end~
That was the last straw for me! I couldn't get up from the chair or anything.. I was so emotional.. It.. arh.. I'm sure that movie had caused me more pain than anything in my life.. the goodbye just killed me..
Yeah, I know that feeling, my friend.
I'm gonna torture myself by watching it again after christmas..
I watched it again day after.. And next week i'll watch it again.. *sigh* I just don't know, if it's making me super-sad or happy like never before.
I LOVE this song from the movie and this version as well. It's amazing
after listening to this again on my ipod, (bought all your albums :D) felt like I needed to find this video and comment;
I love the melody transitions between characters that capture their characterizations through tone...Especially how vindictive Gollum's segment is.
Utterly magnificent... As usual!
Wow.... this is truly amazing!!
This is one of your best songs!
sounds like it could come straight out of the movie. great song
I always get goosebumps when Gollum "says" BURN
Beautiful work as always! Made me shiver!
Just saw this on the feed, I have a strong feeling it's gonna be epic!
I have a strong feeling it's gonn.... Waaait.. It is epic! hahahaha
I had chills while im listening to this masterpiece. Great job and artistic effort my friend! We are waiting for more of your music
You're an amazing artist Gav! Keep up the great work!
So this is my personal favorite of all your songs!
Just watched your latest video, and it reminded me to come back and watch this one again.
This is one of the finest songs you've ever put out, IMHO. Easily on par with the songs in the movie itself, if not better.
Listening to this reminds me of how much I miss the diverse world that is Middle earth. I think I might just have to watch all the films from the beginning 😄 I would read the books but unfortunately my copies went missing a while ago and I am still yet to replace them.
bootleg 'em. The author is long since rendered into dust and stone, and the family have made a fortune off the movies.
Rent them from the library!!
Technically borrow is more apt. Rent implies you pay money to borrow. But I do like a good library.
Literally awesome.
It reminds me some songs of The Phantom of the Opera. miracle of sounds you just do so beautiful songs. I love you
Released on my birthday and that was the day I watched The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug. Thanks, Gavin! :D
Just pure epicness!
Amazing Gav. May it live long and get much views.
2022 and still love this. Beautiful
I cannot stop listening to this!!!
wow that is amazing!!! Good job miracle of sound
I hear this song the first time, and it's beautiful! It's a new Band for me, and I really like there music!
The part from 3:42 had a Phantom of the Opera vibe. Love it.
outstanding song dude! i love all the music you make and just wanted to say keep doing what you do. you have some real talent!
I've said it before I'll say it again! You sir, are a damn MASTER BARD!!
Another great song by my favourite musician. Keep up the great work :D
Oh. My. Lord.
You are truly AMAZING.
There is not enough words in the English language to describe this level of AWESOME SAUCE.
I love your channel!!! This song is awesome *.* Congrats from Spain!!!
A masterpiece!!!
I loved this the Hobbit ! And I can't wait for part3! :)
A great tribute to a great series
Precious, my precious
I enjoy the change in music and vocals for different races and characters. One for the dwarves, one for the Hobbitsis, one for the elves and one for our favourite schitz.
it is amazing!
thank you for this song!
