I like how steady it is. there's no sudden burst, or booming chorus. it really shows how Kratos sees violence now, as just being a cold, steady act, which he is forced to do
This moment, hel, this entire sequence of the game was one of those times when I found intense personal meaning. Kratos is haunted by the past and so am I. While my past is not as dark and bloody as his, my past is trying to shake off the demons of abuse, addiction and the myriad ways my family's neglect and bullying fucked me up. This sequence was a facing the past moment. He found the strength to face his, I can find mine. My mother said something similar to me and I gave that exact response
*Pour out the anger and hide it away* *Lest it spill to the blameless and lead them to pain* *In the steel and the rags I will cover the shame* *So the innocent need not be judged in my name* My favourite line of the song. It shows that Kratos seriously considers the grave consequences of his anger and seek to contain it.
I've had this exact verse go through my head for weeks. My father was abusive to my sister, my mother is dead, men have taken my sisters children away from her, and my brother is suicidal. "So pour out the anger and hide it away, since the alternative is to kill and to maim." "In the steel and the rags I am forced to be tame, By my will, they will stay safe and come not to blame."
This song also can apply to somebody with PTSD and deep anger issues. I made the mistake of using anger as a coping mechanism and it left me feeling angry all the time. Therapy is helping. But the fury never leaves me.

I actually interpreted this line differently. This part comes off as softer than the rest of the music. So, "...long I've suffered the hunger, long I've silenced the cry," to me reads as, "I just want to be loved and love in return" Because that's basically what Kratos's story has been about, love and grief. In the original games, Kratos's entire character arch was about killing the gods, the reason he killed his own family. He was a grieving man, and the slaughter of the Olympians was a representation of Kratos finally moving on from his grief. I haven't played the norse God of War yet, but based on the clips I've seen and the fact that it's a continuation of Kratos's story, it seems to me like he's FINALLY coming/has come to terms with it and is healing from it
@@ThePageTurnerPT Very well said, my friend! That's exactly what I've been missing to achieve completion in my attempts to get the full hidden meaning of the song's lyrics right...and as if from my own very heart you've spoken, so multiple thumbs up! After listening to both this and "A Father's Arms" I've come to the conclusion that the songs are from Kratos and Atreus' differing viewpoints. In "A Father's Arms" we see how Atreus sees Kratos. Powerful, mighty, unstoppable. A force of Nature, his power swelling with the music. In this song we see how Kratos sees himself. A solemn and steady beat, the rage and fury boiling beneath the surface. No longer something to be exalted, but to be honed and used. Two great songs that work even better together!

There were time that a raging snit helped me to get everything done on my shift. (I worked at the fuel desk in a truck stop. I often did the shop side as well as stock the wiper fluid, oil, additives, etc.)

“Pour out the anger and hide it away, Lest it spill to the blameless, And lead them to pain. In the steel and the rags, I will cover the shame, So the innocent need not be judged in my name.” Kratos saying the reason that he’s not going full Spartan Rage, is to make sure his son doesn’t get hurt in the crossfire shook me. I’ve also been saying this to calm down when I get too mad and it works wonders.

@@miracleofsound it's obvious how much effort you put into the lyrics, it really does show. the shame that comes with anger issues never goes away. It's a constant struggle. Well, this is basically becoming the half-decade of second, like, _ENTIRE FUCKING CANONS,_ so... yeah... I mean great song (like it isn't implied in the name MOS), I'm just saying, first AC closet-retcons Desmond, now this whole GOW thing? Just me?
I like this one a lot. I dont explicitly know God of Wars story line, but the lyrics them selves I relate to in one way or another. Im a sucker for music of personal suffering and triumph told elegantly, but Gavins approach using catharsis and healing is a golden quality I feel falls short in most genres through out history. Its never missing, its just not often clear. Stuff like Sirona or I Am Alive manages to wrap up pain and longing and give it back. It has a relate-able heart.
Oh sweet Irish Jesus! Those scraping chains are PERFECT. Volume not too high, not too low, and pitched just right to be ear catching without being annoying. Bravo!
The scene where he has to return home to recover the blades of chaos you could really tell just how ashamed he was to hold them and I don’t know why but it made my heart hurt I felt for him
Kratos has tamed the fury that once ruled him, while remaining able to summon it when he truly needs it. He now values family above all, it is the only thing capable of making him summon his true power and rage.
This feels like it could have and should have been in the game, it really does describes the person that Kratos is trying to be and not who he was centuries ago.
"Long I've fled from the thunder" For all the speculative connections made between Atraeus and Thor when we first saw gameplay, it seems we forgot his grandfather.
Have been watching Vikings from the 25th December 2023 and I am descendant of the Vikings. RUclips created this playlist for me and I have been listening to it ever since. My viking blood has been flowing through my veins since 2020 when I was told that I had viking dna by Ancestry. Skål
I like the references to the older God of War games. Not just the "scraping of chains", but also "the echoes they taunt and deceive me," referencing how the Olympians would dangle forgiveness in front of Kratos when he was their slave. Like how Athena promised her personal forgiveness, but left out that the nightmares Kratos was suffering were his own conscious. Good song.
Best part: “Bellows of Pain, and Scarping of Chains, the Echoes they taunt and deceive me. Oceans of blame, and rivers of shame, the fury, it never leaves me.”
For me it's: Pour out the anger and hide it away Lest it spill to the blameless and lead them to pain In the steel and the rags I will cover the shame So the innocent need not be judged in my name
Although this song is from a video game, I love this song for personal reasons. I used to be really angry, anxious and stressed from trauma caused by family, acquaintances at school and work. This song makes me cry and I am so proud of myself because I've successfully managed to put the negative version of me to permanent rest. It was really hard but I've worked through all my trauma to become the amazing person I am today. For this, I'm gonna pat myself on the back and give myself a hug. The misconception that video games are not helpful needs to end.
"The echoes they taunt and deceive me, oceans of blame and rivers of shame the fury it never leaves me" almost made me choke up. Makes me remember everything that he did.
I think this might be my favourite of yours in a while! I love the style of the music, the lyrics really work for me, and I love the lore of the game itself. Amazing, and thank you! :)
There's one in this line: "In the steel and the rags I will cover the shame" It calls back to this line from the previous song: "Steel and rags are covering the shame" That's the one I noticed after listening to both songs.
Filip Endris it's somewhat a common example amidst the fans. People than have anger manegement mostly see their worst side, the side that haunts them, in kratos. And in this catartic feeling, they relate a lot with him. You are basically seend one of your emotions living a life! That's a powerful catartic feeling.
This song sums up all that Kratos has done. From killing the greek gods to getting to midgard. He's just running from the pain of his sins. Great song. Keep them coming.
For a person addicted to be angry, this is definitely an anthem: something that goes subtly, then it increases more and more and it bursts in the very face. Anger has helped me to endure my life, but now it is hurting me. I just hope I can control it in the future. Thank you so much, Miracle of Sound. You're marvelously clever and your music always says things impossible to say 🖤
This song is so powerful, both for God of war and in real life, i suffer from panic attacks, and this calms me i don't know why and how but it's like meditating but with this song, i hope that this song transmit the same emotions that i am experiencing to you all, i want to congratulate for the creation of this song, may the gods bless you and may your sagas will be told forever. (from an heaten)
You have no idea how much I am thankful for this song. I deal with some mental health battles, and I can definitely relate with and identify with this song.
This song hits heard and resonates with me on such a deep level and all the pain and suppressed anger I have. Honestly almost started crying listening to this.
"Pour out the anger and hide it away lest it spill to the blameless and lead them to pain." This is actually a pretty good anger management mantra I've been using if I'm with friends and I feel it coming on. Helps to remind me in the moment of how contagious anger is and that it brings no good in regular life.
I know nothing about this Kratos but what I know is that I love this music. It is so rude, proud, strong, full of power but deeply aware of the anguish of anger.
Another amazing song!! My husband and I love your music, you're extremely talented. I can't play video games without feeling sick so I never get to experience the story like my husband does. Your songs have helped me feel the story behind the game and I'm so thankful for that! Thank you for another amazing song.
My favorite Miracle of Sound song. It holds a special place for me, as one who deals with anger on a daily basis. This song means a lot to me to help me combat it.
You what is so great about this song Gav? Well, a lot of things. But most importantly is that I'm finding this song speaks to me, in the way that good art does. I can actually identify with what Kratos is feeling. I mean sure I'm not a monsterous murderer of Gods (yet), but I can certainly understand the feeling of not liking something about myself, or trying to run from what I am. I can imagine that person who is gay for instance could easily understand this, but I don't even think it has to be a minority. Just anyone who has ever felt not good enough, or any kind of self hatred. "Oceans of blame, and rivers of shame." Powerful words Gav. Words I'm sure many of us can understand.
"Always within To lurk in the skin The wounds ever aching so deeply Try as I may To hide it away The fury it never leaves me" I might get that tattooed on me
This song, once again, was part of the inspiration for one of the gods of my group's D&D campaign. Rohagru. One of the nine Great Gods. God of destruction and wrath. But also of sorrow and remorse. For he is destruction and anger in all forms - including that directed inwards.
@@pepelefrog3697 Sadly, we don't have too much homebrew for our setting available for public viewing. But if you look through the comments in Miracle of Sound's songs, you might find a few more snippets.
Was originally expecting something heavier when I saw the title, but this is better. The contemplative look at the rage inside is moving and beautiful. A masterful song, Gav, as usual.
I like this song as it defines Kratos perfectly as the rage will always be in Kratos but he’s learned it affects the innocent as well as the ones who hurt him and he’s doing his best to control it and hide it and it’s consequences from those he cares about
I think it's that steady persistent rhythm that truly elevates this song. The music never really feels like it's over; the beat continues to sing through your blood. I could (and very nearly have) listened to this song on loop. This is a song of great power. One that both quickens the spirit as the beating drums of war, and quenches the flame in its grounding mantra.

There were time that a raging snit helped me to get everything done on my shift. (I worked at the fuel desk in a truck stop. I often did the shop side as well as stock the wiper fluid, oil, additives, etc.)
I don't Patreon, but I do love supporting good music so here's a small gift.
lyrics:
Bellows of pain
And scraping the chains
The echoes they taunt and deceive me
Oceans of blame
And rivers of shame
The fury it never leaves me
Grief in the snow
The winter of woe
Has come here to judge and bereave me
Lock up the rage
It rattles the cage
The fury it never leaves me
Always within
To lurk in the skin
The wounds ever aching so deeply
Try as I may to hide it away
The fury it never leaves me
Long i've suffered the hunger
Long i've silenced the cry
Long i've fled from the thunder
To ascend still I try
To carry the pain
To keep it contained till the end
To cary the pain
To keep it contained till the end
Pour out of the anger and hide it away
Lest it spill to the blameless and lead them to pain
In the steel and the rags I will cover the shame
So the innocent need not be judged in my name
Pour out of the anger and hide it away
Lest it spill to the blameless and lead them to pain
In the steel and the rags I will cover the shame
So the innocent need not be judged in my name
Long i've suffered the hunger
Long i've silenced the cry
Long i've fled from the thunder
To ascend still I cry
To carry the pain
To keep it contained till the end
To cary the pain
To keep it contained till the end
Bellows of pain
And scraping of chains
The echoes they taunt and deceive me
Oceans of blame
And rivers of shame
The fury it never leaves me

Kratos saying the reason that he’s not going full Spartan Rage, is to make sure his son doesn’t get hurt in the crossfire shook me. I’ve also been saying this to calm down when I get too mad and it works wonders.
It is no small thing that a god of war would seek to live in peace.
Your lyric writing is absolutely phenomenal, in every song I have heard from you your lyrics capture these games and themes with your own unique flair/twist so well, goddam man you are gifted human
Thank you very much :) I pay a lot of attention to lyrics, it's nice when people notice
You are legit the man dude, you make me wana play these games again because you remind me so clearly of the emotion I felt during my time playing. Anyways, I started listening to your music cause I love Podquisition and I am so glad I checked your stuff out. Thank you for the response, I will be back for every new song ;)
@@miracleofsound it's obvious how much effort you put into the lyrics, it really does show. the shame that comes with anger issues never goes away. It's a constant struggle. Lyrics hit the nail on the head.
Been listening to your songs on repeat these past couple days and it really helps clear my mind. This one included.
Thank you for doing what you do, stay safe

Omg yes! We were blessed by a second GoW song
Already the beginning is super epic damn
Also I totally didn't expect this... damn Gavin you're doing miracles (huehue)
He is miracleofsound

*still I try*
*to carry the pain*
*to keep it contained to the end*
...
*the fury it never leaves me*
Truer words...
This song helped me calm myself in a moment that I was so close to physical violence.
Oh sweet Irish Jesus! Those scraping chains are PERFECT. Volume not too high, not too low, and pitched just right to be ear catching without being annoying. Bravo!
Haha nice that you noticed... I had to pitch them down a little so they weren't too abrasive to the ear :D
The scene where he has to return home to recover the blades of chaos you could really tell just how ashamed he was to hold them and I don’t know why but it made my heart hurt I felt for him
He thought he left that door locked forever ♾ that’s why
Kratos has tamed the fury that once ruled him, while remaining able to summon it when he truly needs it. He now values family above all, it is the only thing capable of making him summon his true power and rage.

"Long I've fled from the thunder"
THAT'S SUCH A GOOD LINE THOUGH!
This feels like it could have and should have been in the game, it really does describes the person that Kratos is trying to be and not who he was centuries ago.
Rediscovered the game after it released on PC. Rediscovered the song after finding the game again. It's a good day.
"Long I've fled from the thunder"
For all the speculative connections made between Atraeus and Thor when we first saw gameplay, it seems we forgot his grandfather.
I forgot the name of Thor's evil son who's just as powerful as he is only with his heart having fallen to darkness.
This song resonates with my soul. Brings me to tears every time I listen and sing it. Thank you for that.
No Matter How many times I hear this, It is always Outstanding.
Have been watching Vikings from the 25th December 2023 and I am descendant of the Vikings. RUclips created this playlist for me and I have been listening to it ever since. My viking blood has been flowing through my veins since 2020 when I was told that I had viking dna by Ancestry. Skål

"How many times have you listened to this song?"

Oh, good, so it isn't just me.
As someone with anger issues, this song hits me. Thank you for making this song, you are a real musical genius
As does Doom Eternal soundtrack. Feel ya.
I'm a small man from Borneo, everytime I listen to Viking/Nordic song. I feel the great spirit of our strong and ferocious ancestors.

There is so much more to war, than pain and rage.
Sometimes, something better comes out of it...
The killed and wounded soldiers, knew what the war was.
I will respect them always.
Good song.
As a 2nd Gen norsk in USA I just found and love this music. Makes me think of my grandma and the trip to Norway I went on to learn my heritage.
My Ode to FURY, ANGER,SHAME and PAIN ......beautiful song !!!!!!
Workout song 100% doesn’t disappoint.
Gives you energy.
Gives you power.
Gives you determination.
The echos they taunt and devises me
truly the best line
Best part: “Bellows of Pain, and Scarping of Chains, the Echoes they taunt and deceive me. Oceans of blame, and rivers of shame, the fury, it never leaves me.”
For me it's:
Pour out the anger and hide it away
Lest it spill to the blameless and lead them to pain
In the steel and the rags I will cover the shame
So the innocent need not be judged in my name
"Fury is my choice , not a sickness." - Grunt
Although this song is from a video game, I love this song for personal reasons. I used to be really angry, anxious and stressed from trauma caused by family, acquaintances at school and work. This song makes me cry and I am so proud of myself because I've successfully managed to put the negative version of me to permanent rest. It was really hard but I've worked through all my trauma to become the amazing person I am today. For this, I'm gonna pat myself on the back and give myself a hug.
The misconception that video games are not helpful needs to end.
Edit: my depression and anger has resurfaced and idk how to deal with it now.. maybe just suicide.
This song is a whole entire mood. The lyrics being in the description helps me bc I didn't know what some of the words were at first.
If ever there where an epic story to tell on the big screen it is Kratos' story.
MonsterMatt Gaming still looking for his callback for this IP. Anyone?
There's one in this line: "In the steel and the rags I will cover the shame"
It calls back to this line from the previous song: "Steel and rags are covering the shame"
That's the one I noticed after listening to both songs.
Another God Of War? You just keep spoiling us Gav.
Lex Mozzi dont look just hear and feel;)
Inspiring story :) I can relate to kratos's issues with rage, haha
Hah kinda find that hard to belive but what do I know :D...
The greatest Spartan of all time in history of the universe 😍😍😍😍😍🙌🙌🙌🙌
This song sums up all that Kratos has done. From killing the greek gods to getting to midgard. He's just running from the pain of his sins. Great song. Keep them coming.
My absolute favorite line is "Lock up the rage, It RATTLES the cage, the fury it never leaves me""
This song describes my anger perfectly
This song hits heard and resonates with me on such a deep level and all the pain and suppressed anger I have. Honestly almost started crying listening to this.
"Pour out the anger and hide it away lest it spill to the blameless and lead them to pain."
This is actually a pretty good anger management mantra I've been using if I'm with friends and I feel it coming on. Helps to remind me in the moment of how contagious anger is and that it brings no good in regular life.
20+ years in the future when your kid calls you by your old gamer tag.
for some reason i think this song was perfect for an auxilliary slave during roman conquest of the north
I know nothing about this Kratos but what I know is that I love this music. It is so rude, proud, strong, full of power but deeply aware of the anguish of anger.
I FEEL VALHALLA CALLING ME
This seems like a perfect drinking song, in addition to perfectly embodying Kratos’ turmoiled past.

This song means a lot to me to help me combat it.
this song kinda makes me wanna cry.
This is honestly the greatest non full rock band song I’ve ever heard.
Cant wait to hear what gav comes up with for ragnarok.
I keep coming back here to feed my hype for Ragnarok
"Always within
To lurk in the skin
The wounds ever aching so deeply
Try as I may
To hide it away
The fury it never leaves me"

@@lexsamreeth8724 ahhh alright- damn, thanks tho
Was originally expecting something heavier when I saw the title, but this is better. The contemplative look at the rage inside is moving and beautiful.
A masterful song, Gav, as usual.
This song is both healing and enraging at the same time
kick ass out any depression and bad mood
I like this song as it defines Kratos perfectly as the rage will always be in Kratos but he’s learned it affects the innocent as well as the ones who hurt him and he’s doing his best to control it and hide it and it’s consequences from those he cares about
I think it's that steady persistent rhythm that truly elevates this song. The music never really feels like it's over; the beat continues to sing through your blood. I could (and very nearly have) listened to this song on loop. This is a song of great power. One that both quickens the spirit as the beating drums of war, and quenches the flame in its grounding mantra.
