This is the game that got me into the scene officially. I liked mk9 but I didn’t even play online. But MKX taught me how to mix…also taught me the death feeling of my shit getting mixed. Damn…good times

Mk9 and MkX are actually mortal kombat games. Speed, high dmg combos, gritty, gore, intense! Mk11 is street fighter and mk1 is injustice 3.

I went it Dittle’s stream yesterday as he was fighting homelander and I literally thought I was watching injustice. Aesthetically it looks just like an injustice game. Mk is dark and gritty, not bright and vibrant

MK1 has 50% combos but you usually need the Fatal Blow or a kameo to get it.

Every mk game needs to have a run button.. without it the gameplay is way too slow and it becomes too projectile heavy..just like mk 11

MK X had run and ppl complained about it then in MK11 they slowed the game WAAAYYYY down...I disliked it.
As a result of people complaining about the game being too fast and too many 50/50 we got mk11 and MK1... But from what it sounds like people really liked MK9 and MKX which were the faster games.
People have stop complaining so soon about stuff and then telling the developers years later that they liked the game years prior. Then we get stuff like mk11 and MK1 where it's all slow down and people just don't feel it
I personally really like MK1.. I'm a fan of the Cameo system and I like that you can do launchers without using meter... But if you had a run button it would be tons of fun
@@bljacks5 you're not the first to say that but I honestly don't remember hearing people say that mkx was too fast because that's just Crazy to me. Having to spam forward twice to close the gap is just retarded to me when you can just run and be done with it.. without it having run and being able to close the gap makes a game too projectile heavy and filled with zoning and then kills the game for me which was why mk11 was so bad. Felt like I was covered in concrete the whole time

MKX was the last Mortal Kombat that actually felt like Mortal Kombat. The dark tone, the violence, the atmosphere. Even if the Kombat Kids were a waste of character slots, and the game had too many special forces, MKX still had that Mortal Kombat charisma that MK11 and MK1 lack

Disagree with story. Easily the worst story in MK. Special Forces was never MK strong suit about story arc (remember Jax's spin-off game). MKX story basically felt like Street Fighter 1994 live action movie where the actual hero Liu Kang/Ryu is shaft to a side character for the favor of the western military character Johnny Cage & Cassie Cage/Guile as the focus. MKX story is just a generic western action movie instead of mythical martial arts that MK is know for. And don't get me started on the whole Cage family "Green glow aka Kryptonite" rip-off plot device. A literal asspull. But yea only for story, everything else MKX is the best MK ever.

@@shawziiz5031understandable. But I feel like we can retroactively say that that's what gives engaging in mkx's story *mode* charming. It has that cozy 70s,80s,90s u.s. action movie w/asian aesthetic/mysticism based charm that prompts you to not take it too seriously. Something fun to bust out on a night @ home with friends & have a play/watch-party. At least that's how I remember experiencing mkx's story mode, though of course I understand that given the devs' *general* need, compared to other fighters, to have a somewhat serious take on story mode, said narrative should've been better than it was.
MK9 needs a remastered with playable bosses for offline modes.

It feels like every new MK reinvents the characters' moves, inputs and overall mechanics. Oh well. MKX ftw

MKX is completely awesome! Plus, its the game both me and my dad play all the time (whenever I was at his office in the army)! And the guest characters (Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, Xenomorph and Predator) are so top notch!!!!

It’s crazy to think MKX was ahead of its time when you got SF6, Tekken 8, and other modern games in general adopting similar styles of aggressive rush down gameplay. I agree if they just polished that style instead of making completely different games every release we would be in a better place

I LOVED the Kombat Kids.
They were all so cool and seeing their parents/mentors influence on their fighting styles was such a cool idea.
It’s nice we’re getting Takeda back, but I honestly would’ve preferred to just get a Kombat kids DLC with maybe 2 more classic characters with new redesigns (Kai & Kano).
Lots of characters need to come back: Kai, Kung Jin, etc. Imo
Cassie, Erron, etc. need to miss a game like 99% of the cast have already done.

What a time. I’m in my mid 30s and have been playing since MK one in the arcade and I can say without a shadow of a doubt I played MKX the most with MK2 very close behind. So much fun and everyone I knew was playing.
Mkx had the best dlc characters by far they weren’t just characters from the last game or boring guest characters

@2:59 its crazy how a design and special move change can make a character feel entirely different. All of triborgs variations play different despite having the same normal strings (for the most part).
Havent felt this much freedom for combo expression since Injustice 2 ...why they deviated from MKXs fast paced style and variations is beyond me

I liked how mkx had many different types of characters
u had characters who were
Trap hunter, cyber sub etc
cancel tremor, heavy weapons etc
damage boost monsters, Blood God, Ruthless etc
grapplers, Commando, sun god, wrestler
etc
and then the specials like jason turns the entire screen red and messes up your input, reptile turns the screen green, slows u down but he got faster

I loved watching MKX tourneys, it felt like I was watching an anime fight scene happening before my eyes, especially when it came to watching my favorite characters fight, just wish Takeda got more tournament love since he’s my favorite MK character next to Scorpion.
MKX was actually perfect, even as someone who loves MK1, I find it hard to compare the 2 just simply due to what MKX had to offer. Do I think it’s better? No, but MKX had what MK1 didn’t; universal love, and genuine care. I loved MKX, and I hope to see characters from that game return in MK1.
