As a former resident of Dallas for 35 years, I would disagree with you about Austin being a melting pot and Dallas not. Dallas has been a mecca for corporate relocations from all over the country for decades. I believe it is in fact Austin that is the more genuinely Texan.
I just visited Austin San Antonio and Houston next will be Dallas. I think my choice will be between Houston and Dallas. Coming from the Bay Area Austin does remind me of it in some sense, but I don’t like that it’s so far out and the surrounding cities are pretty small towns.
I don't even know, brother. Both sound amazing in my most honest opinion. Currently in the Alamo City. But would love to test the waters in either city in the very near future as my occupation allows me to be able to work from anyone. Houston sounds nice too! But North-Houston. Spring, Conroe, The Woodlands, Kingwood. Richmond, maybe? (although that's not north at all)
Thank you for giving so much information ! I have question for you: does Texas offer a “homestead” property tax exemption for seniors (65 and up) and if so, how is it calculated? Thank you
Love them both! Absolutely love Austin but it is definitely more expensive to live there but being a Texas Longhorns fan, I have a special place in my heart for Austin. I did notice when you listed the suburbs of Dallas you didn't mention the southern side of Dallas which also has very nice areas as well, not just the richer northern side. Dallas is a great city that has everything you need with tons of exciting things to do, more house for your buck and more professional sports teams. Can't go wrong choosing either one though. Love my great state of Texas!
Hi, can you please tell me how big a problem of snakes/ lizards in Austin. Do we encounter them in neighborhoods or just in trails??? Please lmk…I have a big phobia
Hey Meena! Not gonna lie to you… I’ve seen a few in my time living in neighborhoods, not only trails. I don’t think it’s ever been an issue though! You’ll see them a bit more often in neighborhoods that connect to nature and greenbelts.
@@LivingInAustinTeam thanks for responding! How about west of Austin? Beecave/ sweetwater?? Do they tend to enter homes/ yards?? Or can we take any precautions to avoid them by entering?
I haven’t heard anything bad about those areas! I’m sure some things will still happen in rare cases and instances - but there are no known problems to my knowledge! Certainly haven’t heard of them entering any homes either.
I prefer Austin over Dallas. Austin is more Liberal than Dallas but Austin has more tech jobs. As far as restaurants, they have the same but Austin’s more close together as for Dallas you have to take the highway many more miles everywhere.
Not really. Dallas Votes more liberal Than Austin as far as number of votes go..and that's only because there's far more poeple in Dallas than Austin Also Dallas has more tech jobs than Austin does. Remeve there's over 130,000 Tech companies in Dallas. And restaurants in Dallas are easily above Austin's and that's just because Dallas has a larger variety and more diverse spectrum.
@@KingAsa5 Austin only has the Silicon Tech Jobs which thats where all the laid offs are and Dallas is more diverse tech jobs which are usually more stable.

Does Austin have better programs for nursing than Dallas?
