I made my escape from Austin recently. Massive homeless population. Car and Mailbox theft and break ins. 5 figure property taxes. Snotty young marxists-everywhere. Now the city council will allow 6 tiny homes on 1/6th of an acrea. Oh yeah- a five mile commute is a 45 minute commute.

The entire state looks like a dried up abandoned lot....it is pitiful.

Number 5 is the selling point for me to come to Austin hahaha. Lived in LA 2011 - 2022 and loved it, so its awesome to hear that Austin is becoming very "Californian" while still giving opportunity for a new life experience. love how Austin has a huge wellness culture and with all the tech boom, its PERFECT. But still close enough to Dallas and Houston to do some weekend trips and indulge in that Texan culture. SO EXCITED FOR TEXAS! Great video thank you!

Advantage of pflugerville is first is its own city so we have a solid policing second it's about as close to get to downtown as any other suburb if not closer and with the new 130 toll it's quick to get to the airport finally if you want a somewhat peaceful quiet place it's got a few nice places to eat and still be able to commute into deeper Austin pflugerville is a good choice it also has good schools. Many of the places he lists you cannot get to downtown in less than half an hour like you can from pflugerville

I was in austin twentyfour hrs, the humidity ran me out. Dallas is an oven and concrete jungle. San antonio is now too expensive and the freeway is a mess. My $100k home now over 300k with 3% prop tx. Sorry i sold in 2008 for $130k a 2500 sq ft home. 6 yrs old.

I tell people that Friday rush hour starts at 3:30 on Thursday afternoon. Back in the 1980s a friend with some other friends and a couple of actors from the Doctor Who program went out and the British men taught them how to play cricket at the Triangle where Lamar and Guadalupe meet. I remember when the community gardens was where the Winter's Center is in the same area. I was driving before they cut Shoal Creek Blvd past Anderson Lane. Before the Pickle campus was so named. When IBM was built out on 1325 which is now more Burnet Rd. and there was a Travis County school there at the corner of Kramer and 1325. Before they cut Braker past Lamar. I had a friend who said I had the interesting dichotomy of being a Damned Yankee and Old Austin.

Wait is that why some people in Austin seem so rude and like they are rushing like in big cities? Because they are from places like NY. I have been to NY and lived in CA …they kind of act like a mix of CA and NY in the rudeness part. Very very few act like southern hospitality type. And I noticed that California thing of avoiding eye contact here. Its not something I experienced in other Texas cities. Its like a there is some weird political clash in this city. It doesn’t feel liberal socially, but a few things do seems somewhat liberal. Its strange. Its probably because its a “blue” city but in a extremely conservative state like you said. Also my lord people here drive like they are drunk.

I lived in Orange County in California since I was a baby. It was 10-15 minutes to the beach, and my high school had a surf team, I was 20-25 minutes from Disneyland and 90 minutes from the mountains. The weather was perfect most of the time. Leftist ideology destroyed my beloved 💔 home state. My kids were born and raised in California. I lived there almost fifty-six years. I sold my home and moved to a conservative state, as did a lot of my former classmates and friends. I moved the Georgetown almost eight years ago. They are getting ready to put the third HEB in Georgetown. It's pretty exciting, except that means more people are moving to the area. We don't want Hollywood or big tech moving here if they are planning on voting the way that they did in California. They destroyed one state. We don't want them ruining our new home state.

I moved to Austin a month ago from LA. I think its OK but not the place for me. I think some people in California are more friendly but kjnd of fake I guess. I have had a easier time talking to people over there. In Austin some are friendly but really reserved. In California people can be really rude or nice and talkative. And in Austin for the most part I find people to be reserved. It’s different. I like that Austin is cheaper. I didn’t like seeing some crazy stuff in LA but unfortunately I think i become desensitized to that lol. So if I see something weird in Austin I don’t really care. But Austin is a lot less crazy than LA by a lot in my opinion. The main problem in Austin for me is the weather. I love outdoor activities and its kind of difficult here:(

And about people leaving: sure, if you moved to Austin out in creepy areas not IN Austin. It’s hard if you want a big house, but I live in Austin and it’s the best. I wouldn’t live anywhere except in Austin in the actual city. I’m on a quiet street but I am in walking distance to everything! and I just love the vibe here. You can be a Republican in Texas a Democrat here too. It’s the best when it’s mixed. Do you want to laugh about things and stop being so freaked out and polarize there’s a lot of comedians here that will help you.

Great video, nailed it with the exception of SAFETY. Violent crime including murders, San Antonio literally almost doubles Austin's crime stats year after year. FBI stats continuously show that per capita for every 100k citizens 74 people in San Antonio will be a victim of violent crime or murder way over Austin's 34 per 100k citizens. San Antonio has unfortunately made the top 10 most dangerous of major US cities for decades. Austin was always considered generally a safe town and now as you pointed out with its growing population and huge transplants the city has experienced an increase in crime that its citizens have not been used to in the past. But when we talk statistics unfortunately San Antonio takes the cake with almost double the violent crime and property crime than Austin.
