Learn a simple rule to drive in Texas .Drive slow use right lane .Drive speed limit stay in center lane .Unless your doing 10 to 15 miles over the speed limit . Stay out of the left lane

    • @debrawood438
      @debrawood438 4 года назад +12

But some of those people hogging the fast lane and who force you to pass them on the right actually act like they are mad at you for passing them! Why are they surprises when someone runs up on their bumper? The fast lane is for driving FAST and staying ahead of the person behind you. If they are faster than you, get out of the fast lane. We have had folks in that fast lane chase us to catch up and then get in front of us and “brake check” us. You got to watch for angry drivers here.

I believe it's because many big companies have moved to Texas, hence the reason you guys are meeting so many people who have moved here, from the West Coast. We hold the door because we are courteous. Plain and simple. We do drive like crazy people! The traffic has got worse in the last couple of years. I just saw your channel and thought it was great! I moved to San Antonio in 1981 after growing up in Palo Alto, California! What a different culture!! I didn't even know what a fire ant was! I was used to a formal, Asian culture, my friends families were wealthy, reserved and quiet. Their parents would have never touched us or raised their voices...you never stared or spoke up until spoken to...then I was in San Antonio, home of the chancla wielding mama!! The minute I walked into the house, a plate of food was put in front of me, a big hug, questions about everything, giving advice, everyone talking at once, breaking into Spanish...I was completely confused! It was wonderful. I married a Texan from a settler family who had an ancestor that fought at the Alamo! I didn't know anything about it, which horrified everyone!! It was like saying I had never heard of WW2..
30 years on and more, i love it here, i became so happy with all the history and culture and languages and friendly people, it is wonderful! I would never move back to California, as beautiful as it is, just because I love this big state! Welcome!

One thing I’m told from newcomers to Texas is: I heard, before coming, that Texans were supposed to be so friendly, and though some are, a lot are not ... my response: did you ask the not so friendly if they were native Texans? 🤔 The only thing native Texans request is that people moving to our state respect our state, and not try to change us to what you came from ... we will not, so if you like the way things were in your state, then feel free to go back 😁 otherwise, give our way of life a true try, and welcome 💗 (P.S. just about anywhere outside of Dallas looks upon that city as the red-headed step child of our state - and this coming from a redhead 😝, so don’t judge all of Texas by one city, we are a diversified state. Thanks)

Korpian no, not everyone ... I didn’t for most of my life, though raised around them and taught how to handle one in my teens. It wasn’t until recently I wanted one, just in case 🤷‍♀️ but I’d say probably 2/3s have at least one, whether it’s a hand gun, rifle, or shotgun.

We moved to Fort Worth from Minneapolis 2 years ago. We love it. Fort Worth is way quieter than Dallas. People opening doors surprised me too. Alot of speed racers on the road here. I love Chic Fil A too! Hardly had it when in Minnesota. Yes there are tons of restraunts here. 50% of Texans eat out every week. Lol! I'm so relating to your video. My first week in Forth Worth I meet 3 California's that moved within the last 3 years. The driving here is crazy 😳. The apartments and houses are much better than Minnesota, they are bigger more modern and more affordable.
    Thank you for the video!

Hey guys, we moved here from Chicago a few years ago. 2 things to add that I learned. 1. Highway driving is scarier down here. We call it "Pulling a Texas" - where they see the exit they want as about to pass it and shoot 3 lanes over to make it. I see that weekly it seems. And 2. Guys, when you go to a register and the cashier is female, esp. if your girl isn't there. Good chance you will be called hun, babe, sugar etc etc. They are NOT flirting with you, it's just a southern thing. I knew it right away but still felt strange for awhile never hearing that stuff up north.

I am from Texas we who care say if you don't have to be driving when it's raining don't. People don't know how to drive In The rain. Watch out for people who do rolling stop, run red light, don't use there blinker or turn it on to early or late. You should not drink and drive but people do so be careful. Choice wisly when to honk your horn because if you do you might get someone with road rage or worse, Be prepared it can in the summer be 105 degrees with 100% humidity. Winter 80-32 degrees rare to have snow.

Enjoyed your video. Welcome to Texas. It sounds like you've still got a lot to see and experience. I'm a native Texas. I'm 66 and I tried to leave after I graduated from UT but something kept pulling me back. Here's some other Texas things to check out. Our extreme weather is July & August. You'll need a pool or lake plus an AC. Y'all probably figured that out. We are very proud of our BBQ and chili. Texas BBQ is a different cooking style than anywhere else. Look for the places with the longest lines out front. In Texas, there are NO beans in chili. If there's beans, it's stew. Go to a high school football game in the fall. Any high school. The hill country in the fall is beautiful. Try to find a music festival. If we ever get to have one again.Local music is excellent most of the time. Austin is great for live music, but it's crowded and bad traffic like DFW. The Gulf coast is great.Try the Sandfest in Port Aransas in April. And finally, take that butt-numbing 10 hour drive to Big Bend in the spring or fall. It make for good memories. Be open, honest and kind and you'll be alright. Oh yeah, work "y'all" into your vocabulary.

I lived in Texas my whole life, west Texas and Dallas. My husband and I loved to Colorado to experience some real winter and live close to the magnificent mountains three years ago. We loved it, I adored the snow.. but it was hella expensive with all the taxes and fees for everything that is also based on tax ($1300 car registration?!), but also because the housing prices are unreal and we can get so much more house and land for our money in Texas. And.. Colorado was pretty isolating. I personally missed a lot of my close friends and family in Texas and though I met some great people in Colorado, none of them were from there. I really became aware of the term “native” in Colorado because the people who grew up there will let you know that and over time it gets really annoying. Native Coloradans don’t seem to want new residents around and that’s not my vibe so we peaced out and came back to Dallas.

I live on Lake Corpus Christi between Corpus and San Antonio. The pace here much slower than in the DFW area. I lived in the Seattle area for 20 years and I miss walking in the numerous woods that we don’t have here and I don’t really like the weather here, but when I hear about temps in the Northern states in winter, I’ll take our warm winters any day. The spring winds from the south are so irritating, but when they stop and you start feeling the full force of the heat, you miss the wind. When I lived in the Northwest, I got the strangest looks from people on the street when I said hello or nodded when passing, guess they thought I wanted something from them when instead I was just being friendly. Texans even raise a finger or hand off the steering wheel when they pass you on the road even if they don’t know you. There are many things here I wish were more like the Northwest, but a lot of my life-long dreams have come true since I moved back to my home state. I hope you two can experience some of the better things about Texas than what you’ve found in the DFW area. Welcome y’all.

I moved from Los Angeles to San Antonio....Texas highways in San Antonio, Houston and DFW are so confusing and dangerous.
Property taxes for homeowners are insane!!

Been in Houston nearly 6 months and love love love it here! The traffic tho, the drive is so driving...everywhere!! Yikes! First few months took some getting used too but now just get in and move. But the patriotism, the love of God, guns and our freedoms is essential to living! So glad to be from Wa state :)

I'm from Brooklyn, moving to Dallas next month. I'm actually here in Dallas now looking at apartments mostly in fort worth... Its funny hearing you guys talk about fast paced. Coming from NY, this is nice and slow... Just not too slow

Thanks for not being to harsh on Dallas. Yes we are very friendly and courteous here.(That is what sets us apart from New York.)

I’ve been driving in CA for like 15 years and never got into an accident and then got rear-ended in like 3 months when we moved to Northern Dallas.

I loved your video. I live in California and I’ve been from here my whole life. But recently, I have had multiple friends that have left California to go to Texas to live. I know that Texas is a special place to take some of my best friends from me. I know that it has a lot to offer people. It’s bittersweet losing my friends to Texas, but seeing your video, assures me that I think they will be great in Texas too.

I was born in Houston, but when I was 11 I moved to St. Louis so most of my life I was in suburbs in Missouri and Illinois. Now I am back here. In one area not right in the city. Just like there it is sooo big. I can attest to everything you said. Exactly the same here. I will add that these cowboys on the road in their pick up trucks are the craziest. And watch out for the 18 wheelers. Just because they have huge blind spots.

OK 11:00 in. People in Texas did not used to play their music loud. Or in anyway cause a disturbance. Those are Teenagers or the City not enforcing noise pollution. You need to move. An leave a notice as of why. We normally talk to residents about this an suggest what we FULLY SUPPORT. Go to a park. Parks you can make lots of noise. But NOT in residential residence.

A few more things: The cities are just like living in any other big city - bumper to bumper traffic, crowds, expensive, diversity, etc. Most people in the cities are from out of state. Dairy Queen is better than Chic-Fil-A. Real Texans drawl, people from out of state don't. Country roads have shoulders. A real Texas kid will call you "ma'am" or "sir." And Texas is HOT from April through November.

It's funny...I am german living in Texas since 2017 and I am sure many Texans would say that driving in germany ( no speed limits on Autobahn) is more dangerous... ( therefore the " I survived the german Autobahn shirts ) but I have to say...the driving here is crazy ... oh and having a working AC in your house is essential in TX.

Welcome to Texas! I would recommend to explore South Texas and East Texas and, yes, bring the sunblock and AC unit. Enjoy and take care! Just beware the crazy weather changes in Laredo, especially when the season change (Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter). Ex. Spring Season: sudden winter temp. day or Summer: you'll receive a tan without even knowing.
