      Yeah it’s not cool that she keeps cutting the silpats bc they’re not pure silicone they’re fiberglass with a silicone layer so she’s exposing fiberglass to her food

      Richard Orellana 2.47 what? Dollars? That’s about the only thing that’d make sense, for most channels each view is worth a fraction of a percent of a dollar
      As a channel gets more views the value of those views goes down so they’re probably getting in the low hundreds for these videos, $80-$150 a video at most

      Apparently it’s actually used as a cosmetic component, but to be honest with you it seems like a really useful thing to have in a test kitchen, you could use it to mist things for photos (way finer particles of water than a spray bottle), wet delicate things, apply a sheen to candy, I’m sure there’s a bunch of other uses for it but it seems like less of a novelty when you think about this use case

      Cutting silpats is dangerous. They're made of fiberglass sealed in silicone, and the fiberglass will end up in your food. If you knick one with a knife, you're supposed to throw it away.

    Pringles are baked before they're fried, I think that if you did that it could've helped with the shaping, the color, and the texture, either way, great job

    nerd fact: hyperbolic paraboloid is the by far most strong shape for a sheet, guess that's why they choose it for their pringles to maintain shape in the can.
    advanced nerd fact: mantis shrimp actually do have that shape incorporated in their smashing limbs between the joints, it allows them to deliver the by far most powerfull punch in all of the animal kingdom.

    The old days of BA. During covid and peak quarentine I used to watch so many of these videos. Now I go back and feel the nostalgia of that time. Sad to see how things have changed, but I know it's for the better. Just miss these old videos lately.

      I half remember that there was a time before the kitchen implement destruction when Claire was stumped about how to do something and Brad came over and was all "oh it's easy, you just destroy this kitchen implement and scavenge the parts like this" and Claire was like "you can do that?     This is the only BA test kitchen series that DOESNT make my absolutely ravenous after watching it. Not because Claire doesn’t make delicious looking food, but because of thinking about all the weird chemicals in the food I eat 😂 Love you Claire, you are goals

    I think I enjoy watching her so much because she doesn’t turn her nose up at cheap/readily available foods like I’d expect from a gourmet chef. She tries them, says they’re delicious, but also says what can be slightly tweaked to improve the food

      Some people have food allergies and as a result aren't able to eat these food products. But when amazing chefs like Claire and her fellow team members dedicate their time and effort in researching how it's made, those with food allergies can make it at home and enjoy it as well.

    Watching these episodes is fascinating and the process of transitioning from test kitchen to mass production is really interesting.

    In India, we slice potatoes, blanch them in salted water and then sun dry (dehydrate) them for a couple of days before frying. They have a similar texture to pringles!

      Ikea makes a cheap huge silicone mat called sockerkaka, its like 9$ that I can recommend for bakers on a budget or for cutting custom sizes. Like in the video.
      I bought mine and cut it in half. I used on half for my biggest cookie sheet, and the other half I cut into custom sizes.
      (I’m Swedish so sockerkaka means sponge cake, but literally translates to sugar cake, if anyone wanted to know)
