Absolutely love the OCD on this vehicle, you can’t give it enough mate. 👌
Chasing perfection as much as possible on this one mate 👌
I agree with the screw head tip, I hate "things" not lined up :)
Small details make the biggest difference mate
Great video Alex the boot lid looks a lot better and nice to see the electrics being done with heat shrink being a perfectionist I wouldn’t have expected anything less
Yeah tiny details like that make a huge difference mate, most wouldn't notice but at least i know its done
Great job! The Mini looks far better now you're taking it back to original👍
Thanks mate, certainly happy with the choices i have made so far
That car is sweet Alex, your garage seams warm to, mine is bloody freezing
That Heater has made the world of difference mate. Highly recommend them
Quality work 👍🏻
Thanks mate
nice bro, looks mint! Looks so good!!!
Thanks mate!
looks great the reg plate
Thanks Anthony! Super happy with the end result
Mate you have some beautiful mini & that Austin Cooper s 😍 love also the fact you're in a wheelchair doesnt stop you. I've got fibromyalgia (extreme Fatigue, joint pain muscle pain) put doesn't stop me working on my metro.
Also are you up for doing a POV mini drive I'd like to see how you use the hand controls. Keep it up mate 👌🏻👏🏻
Thanks mate! Yes i can certainly do that for you when i bring them back out of hibernation again
best looking mk1 alex !!!
Thanks Theo! Certainly a dream spec for me
cars looking good mate enjoy
Thanks Anthony
always a good job my friend, I'am really enjoying your vlogs,
Thanks Tony! Glad your enjoying them mate
Thanks mate, you show details on jobs often glossed over by most RUclipsrs. Not sure about lining the slots in screws up? Do you check the orientation of tightened hex nuts and bolts as well? LoL
Thanks Stewart! I do try to cover as much as possible without waffling to much! All fixings are symmetrical except engine studs 🤣
Love the cooper s, and the attention to detail. I see you got a red boot board, where did you get it from?
Thanks mate, its from newton commercial
The screw head thing follows me into the house too with hinges and handles 😳
I think thats were i have got it from Being an Ex joiner. Nothing worse than non uniform screws in door Hinges
Hi Alex,
Lol with that radiant heater on you've gone a bit ginger mate!!
🤣 At least i am warm so i will take being Ginger on camera 🤣
Looks amazing mate, just a little question about your garage floor, are those foam tiles??
They are made from PVC mate
Got to love being early on a toony video
Thanks mate
👍
It's the Tudor that separates the men from the boys!
🤣
Great Vid as always but that heater? Can you send me the details? Make model etc.
Its a Clarke Devil 370 mate they are from machine mart
What was wrong with old boot lid
Nothing mate i just didn't like the spot lamp as its not original
The boot lid is a credit to your attention to detail, gloss powder coat contrasts really well. I never realised the whole number plate hinged down ( not a mini guru). My grandad encouraged me into looking after cars, retired marine engineer. Remembering his advice that has stayed with me : grease nuts & bolts unless need torque wrench, tighten bolts / filters etc. snug not FT, clean nuts/ bolts before undoing very carefully with socket / spanner fully home, torque car wheels to 70lb / ft, use 6 point sockets, I still only use the 6 point socket set he bought me. In 33 years I have had one oil filter come loose, oil all over mam & dads new block paved drive, buggar.
Thanks mate! Yes good tools make a huge difference!
I keep all my screw slots vertical and my hex nuts/bolts with a point at the top. It not only looks better, it also helps water/dirt run off rather than settling and causing problems.
Thats interesting about the water. I never thought
@@classicminidetails8887 I think the advantage is very minimal but these old cars need all the help they can get.
@@AndyRoo312 without a doubt. No such thing as to much protection on a Classic mini mate. I am doing some rust protection in the next few videos
nice work sir, I defo don't have OCD but I still like my flat head screws all horizontal :)
You have a little OCD i can see it 👀
Thats not ocd, its pretty normal to me. Dont want such important details makin you going off the road 'cos you cant stop staring at it!
Hi Alex, you mentioned the headlight switch being 64 dated, although the D reg on the car I’m assuming is a 1966 reg? The rear end is pure perfection buddy! I’m sure you’re feeling pretty proud having one of the rarest minis. Great series 👍🇬🇧
Hi mate the car was built 7th January 65 so most parts used are dated late 64. The DVLA put the car on a D plate as it wasn't registered in the us till 66
@@classicminidetails8887 yes that makes sense. Gorgeous car Alex, thanks for such a quick reply. Keep well my friend 👍
@@philtucker1224 no problem at all mate! Thanks for watching again
Not just me that goes in the garage and looks about then lol. Hopefully we do get some shows this year 🤞
Always just go in with a brew and stare at them
Nothing wrong with that. Got to work out the next job to do. Got a few jobs for mine after putting the supercharger on.
Nice!
It looks so much better now with the new bootlid and no lamp. OCD is a pain in the arse because it has you chasing after perfection and perfection doesn't exist. That Alex has a cruel sense of humour sometimes 😂
He knows exactly what triggers me 🤣 i am very happy with the end result now, certainly closing in on thay final 10% on the car
@@classicminidetails8887 Haha! He's a funny lad and a good one. It's good when you know what your triggers are cos you can choose to fight them or let them ride along, so long as they don't interfere to much that's what counts. Once you get the under bonnet to your specs then you'll be there.......until you spot something else 🤣
@@graemew7001 trouble is with me i am never satisfied 🤣
@@classicminidetails8887 I'm nearly twice your age mate, believe me when I say you eventually get worn down by it and come to a point where you say f it, perfection doesn't exist, excellent does and that'll do!! 😂
@@graemew7001 the sooner i realise the better mate 🤣
FYI, probably not a good idea to say "hello fellas". #justsaying
Hi Alex. Those slot screws . There's nothing wrong with that ! But did you know that the slots should be vertical so that water can run off the slot and not lie in it . I make sure that the rear lamp screws are aligned symmetrically as well . I continue this discipline inside the car . But obviously you can't do this regarding the engine . Just to prove how far l go , in 1964 the number plates were gloss and the securing screws were metal . (Plastic screws had not yet appeared) . I "think" the thread size for the number plate brackets is the same for the radius arm covers but "pan" head. Hope you don't mind my comments , you know l only make them in a constructive way . And , how bloody rude of me ! I forgot to congratulate you on your great news ! (And you thought you were fussy !) 😂😂😂 Take care and stay safe.
Thats interesting about the water! Yout exactly right with the plastic screws! I never thought. Did they paint the screws black or silver? I may change these out in the future!
@@classicminidetails8887 Well , that all depends on who's fitting the screws. If they were like you or me , you know the answer! Cheers !
Don't mind me, just here for the Waxoil 👍😂
Your going to love whats next 🤣
I don't think your number plate light is particularly rare. They use the same one's on the MGB rubber bumper models.
Nice job, always like to see what your doing.
Thanks Jon! Yeah i kinda thought they would have been used on a few cars. At least its not Chinese plastic!
@@classicminidetails8887 Nothing should be made of plastic on 1965 light! The chrome should be metal and the lense proper glass!
BL used that style of number plate light up until the mid 1980's I can imagine it being updated to plastic over that time!
I'm sure the real deal must be out there if yours is plastic!
All that attention to detail certainly looks good however the first time you take it down a muddy lane in the rain none of it'll show. In my mind that's what they're designed for and how you get the most fun out of owning the car is by using them. I don't believe that these cars are just for show and looking at. You obviously disagree!!
I will certainly be using it once its adapted. Obviously my choice of weather conditions is a factor but they certainly dont sit in my garage all the time
@@classicminidetails8887 I'm very pleased to hear that, sure that you'll enjoy driving it. The weather doesn't bother me they're much more fun to drive in the wet when you can slide it about a bit. However each to his own as I've said before.
