    Love that this compilation shows indigenous ppl from all over the world. I loved the last tik tok until she said “I’m not Asian, I’m not Mexican”....while there are a lot of full blooded ppl in Mexico (for various reasons) who are European, we are indigenous ppl, many being mixed (cultural rape in the past being a big reason). While Im so proud of her for repping her tribe :) I think it’s really important as indigenous ppl we stand together given all of the adversities facing us as a whole. It took me so long to wake up and realize what my roots actually were, not realizing I had been brainwashed by the effects of colonization. Not knowing your roots makes you feel so lost and broken, I’m so happy these tik toks show indigenous ppl from all over so hopefully if there are kids out there who aren’t proud of their culture, or have been brainwashed by Eurocentric standards can wake up and remember their history and ancestors

    I mean, this is a beautiful collection of videos, but the title of this video is honestly pretty offensive. The word "powwow" originates from an Algonquian curing ritual. It was something sacred. Later, other tribes adopted this practice and term, but many tribes did not. Using the name of an indigenous practice for a play on words to catch someone's attention not only spreads misinformation and generalizes the many different native tribes and cultures of North America, but it is plain disrespectful to that sacred ritual. But otherwise, this is an amazing compilation, if you would change the title, I think this would be a very nice informative video. Next time, please do your research before using a word or term that is connected with a culture to make sure it is not offensive. Thank you!

    • @SuperBestTikTokCompilations
      @SuperBestTikTokCompilations  3 года назад +11

      Hey, thanks for your well-thought and respectful comment. I had done a little research into it, but it appears that historians agree that the word itself has Algonquin origins, but although the practice itself seems to have many different roots. Over the years it is unfortunate the word has been appropriated many times, and its meaning has either evolved or diluted the last few centuries. To me, it seems that its current meaning is primarily as a social gathering, but perhaps it is unfair, as the indigenous peoples of America are numerous and diverse, and such a history-rich event can mean many different things to many different people. It was not my intention to offend, and I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I have updated the video, and in the future, I will strive to learn more about such cultural matters. Thank you!

    There's a different between indigenous and aboriginals. Aboriginals are descendents of Africa or also known as blacks and indigenous are descendents of the arctics, north America, central America, and south America. Polynesians/ Islanders, tribes of south east asia are indigenous. For the Americas they are native American. Also I'm native to andés Sierra descendent of múisca. There's a lot of cultural appropriation all over the world the biggest one of all is native Americans which the whites and blacks claim to be.
