not just Americans or really not just in western countries either. In Japan, the japanese would travel to Europe countries to see how foreigners are like in their own country but still heavily disregarded and discriminated to this day their indigenous people and only in the last 20 ish year were they allowed to practice their culture and speak their language, before that it was illegal, and was just recognized the the japanese gov't as the native people of japan last year. And just like the Native in all of North America, they were given land that the settlers didnt was but they were never allowed to keep them in the family once the original land owner died. They are still seen as a entertainment attraction or as stupid lower classed group to this day. Im not defend the settlers in NA because what they did to the indigenous people is abhorrent and disgusting, but dont think its just american who do this. This is a global problem that needs to be addressed in almost every country.
Facts, I'm African myself and Native American Tribes are quite similar to ours in music and culture that is as well as lifestyle before colonization of course, point people are going to far away places for experiences and education they could find right there
@Sons Of Liberty It's not who lives here, but who has sovereignty here, that matters. Native sovereignty has been stolen by colonizers. It must be returned!!! I think you will understand that, since you have the word liberty in your name. Liberty and justice for all!
Well yeah, what happened in History happened in History. Did you know that Rome colonized Britain? The British ancestors were 'savages' too, they were forced into education and 'civilized'. Everyone's been through it.
I honestly disagree. I honestly don't see a difference in excavating Lucy (from Ethiopia) vs the Kennewick Man (North America). And no, I don't believe the actions of our family members and countrymen means we owe reparations or double standards (What does the native American Genocide have to do with excavating ancient remains). Not to mention any discoveries made from the remains being lost (I don't think thats worth sacrificing for the sake of other people's feelings).
@@slyninja4444 I completely get your point and agree with you to some extent, as I personally do not feel much of a connection to ancient remains, or identify with them. I also get your comparison but you could have used a more relevant example like comparing two Homo sapiens, as Lucy is not seen as an ancestor of natives of the area. While the colonisation and with it the genocide of America may not directly have anything to do with it, you can see how natives would see value in reclaiming what is so important to their identity, what colonial Americans have no (ancestral) right to claim, so to speak. Especially since they did not have a say in the colonisation. I completely agree with your last point, as reburying remains will definitely result in loss of knowledge, both for natives and others. To me, it seems a shame, but I can also see how respect towards your ancestors and culture can be more important thatn scientific knowledge.
@@pienutbutter.. In china every year there is a holiday for people to go and sweep their ancestors grave. Could you imagine digging them out and testing on them? What a disgraceful act. @@Dai_rui I absolutely see your point. This is exactly why keeping connections with locals is so important. For some communities it is not done, others don't care (I live in the Netherlands and people here generally do not care much, unless they are jewish of course or have foreign lineage). Your comment about China reminded me of an Indonesian tribe that digs up their dead every year to celebrate, dress them and clean them. Respecting the dead is done differently everywhere, and it is so important to be aware of this
@@pienutbutter.. I gave you an example of China because natives have the same method of worshiping their ancestors as people in China, By burning them. If their culture was to dig up their ancestors as a form of worship and the government decided to bury their ancestors remains, I guess the Indonesian culture would apply as an example. I can understand why you don’t know what the big deal is, because it’s not in your culture. I didn’t understand it in the beginning either since it not a big deal in my culture. I lived in China for 10 years, and slowing their culture and values sunk in. Even now I can say there is so much I don’t know. I have found small similarities between Chinese culture and the culture of natives in Canada. All I can say to you is, I’m sure there are certain values that you hold as well, that define your identity, that are important to you. Maybe you can make a connection with that to understand. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to you!

There's plenty of my people out there that haven't learnt this lesson themselves and go around making hate and war with people. Be proud of who you are, no matter what culture. I know western culture might not feel very spiritual at times but there's so many great things that come with your people in spirituality's place, typical white Aussies are the funniest, wildest, happiest people I know and black and whites here in Australia have blended together to make our own unique culture: Australian culture. @@BooBoo-qj2zj You do have a culture. I am a white person from the USA. I grew up in a very diverse state where white people are the minority. I thought I had no culture compared to the vibrant cultures around me. It took me a while but I came to a realization. White culture is the food we eat, the clothes we wear, Christmas, most TV shows etc. We are so wrapped up in our culture we don't recognize it as culture. Also our white cultures in the USA and Australia are young, newer cultures made from a mixture of various other (mostly European) cultures. So it is not the culture I would have picked if I had a choice. I am not proud to be white. But we don't have a choice. I have some Celtic blood and learning about Celtic culture makes me feel a bit better about being white. They were tribal people also.

Hey, for anyone who's also indigenous reading this, I have been working on plotting this comic recently and I want to know if it'd be a good idea to make or something you'd wanna read. It is essentially a horror fantasy, and the central themes are about growth and keeping your own culture alive, but also about how genocidal actions can be carried out by regular people. The story is about several indigenous children who get taken from their families through one way or another and are brought to an assimilation school. Many of the main characters are two spirit, and the plot is driven by them kicking out the people running the school and turning it into a safe environment for other indigenous children. (Because I am also making this as partially a revenge fantasy against people who ran those schools in real life) I'm gonna be making the storytelling very centered around spiritual magic as well, kinda like a studio Ghibli film if you've ever seen one. So please give me your opinion and ask any questions because I want to know if this is a launch worthy idea.
This makes me really mad That most of my country's Native costumes and traditions have been fully lost after colonization, please fight to preserve them, they are important and teach us so much, and it definitely makes a difference when they are gone

Disclaimer: I do not use "Eskimo" or "Indian" to describe native and/or indigenous peoples, but are the best ways to describe this situation. We Eskimo (at least in Alaska) do consider ourselves native, but we claim to have little relation to Indians. Our language family is completely seperate, and we used to have wars with each other. This is why we consider all of us as native, but still have this mentality of being different from Indians.
@@Hannah-zc8gn Eskimo meaning "raw meat eater" is actually a myth, but it's been used to depicted an extremely stereotypical and wrong portrayal of our people ever since And we in more southern Alaska know we're not Inuit because we're Yuut/Cuut/Suut but Eskimo is unfortunately the best word that refers to all of us from southern Alaska to northern Canada to Greenland
@@Hannah-zc8gn The origin of eskimo is pretty obscure and no one really knows where it came from. As for peoples, there's Unangan/Aleut, Sugpiat/Alutiit, Yupiit/Cupiit, Yupiget, Sirenerey, and Inuit. its so weird how americans will travel to africa and other places to see 'native people' meanwhile they ignore native americans lol. strange country.
not just Americans or really not just in western countries either.

Don't
I guess they should have done it first. Live and learn.
Well yeah, what happened in History happened in History. Did you know that Rome colonized Britain? The British ancestors were 'savages' too, they were forced into education and 'civilized'. Everyone's been through it.
The reburial one is so important. As an archaeologist I can safely say ethics are such an important part of working together with communities.

White culture is the food we eat, the clothes we wear, Christmas, most TV shows etc. We are so wrapped up in our culture we don't recognize it as culture. Also our white cultures in the USA and Australia are young, newer cultures made from a mixture of various other (mostly European) cultures.
I'm not an indeginous native but this sounds absolutely beautiful and I'm already crying. I hope to read ur comic one day.😭💖💖💖
@@maryhoxa2218 thank you so much!
Hi! I'm also not American. I'm indigenous from Asia, and your description seems beautiful! I hope to read your comic one day✨
The girl singing sounds so good and she’s so pretty
Thank you for making this video! Love from an indigenous Okinawan ❤️❤️
The woman singing to her baby made me cry. I sing to my baby like that.
This makes me really mad
That most of my country's Native costumes and traditions have been fully lost after colonization, please fight to preserve them, they are important and teach us so much, and it definitely makes a difference when they are gone
Hi there I'm Armenian and our ancient traditional outfits are called "Taraz". I was wondering if different tribes had different names for their traditional outfits, and what some of them are. Thank in advance ✌🏼
I am the 'other' kind of 'Indian' but I love these native American tiktoks. Really addicted to them now. 🤩
Absolutely beautiful....educating ...and heart warming

Answer this ❓. Can you share an interesting fact about Indigenous people?
Disclaimer: I do not use "Eskimo" or "Indian" to describe native and/or indigenous peoples, but are the best ways to describe this situation.
We Eskimo (at least in Alaska) do consider ourselves native, but we claim to have little relation to Indians. Our language family is completely seperate, and we used to have wars with each other.
This is why we consider all of us as native, but still have this mentality of being different from Indians.
@@keybojoe900 Doesn't "Eskimo" mean "Flesh eater"? Someone told me that and I have respectfully used Inuit ever since. Asking as a Choctaw
@@Hannah-zc8gn Eskimo meaning "raw meat eater" is actually a myth, but it's been used to depicted an extremely stereotypical and wrong portrayal of our people ever since
And we in more southern Alaska know we're not Inuit because we're Yuut/Cuut/Suut but Eskimo is unfortunately the best word that refers to all of us from southern Alaska to northern Canada to Greenland
@@keybojoe900 how many northern nations are there? And where did the term "Eskimo" even come from?
@@Hannah-zc8gn The origin of eskimo is pretty obscure and no one really knows where it came from.
As for peoples, there's Unangan/Aleut, Sugpiat/Alutiit, Yupiit/Cupiit, Yupiget, Sirenerey, and Inuit.
Inuit technically encompass everyone from midwestern Alaska to Greenland, but depending on dialect, they call themselves Iñupiat, Inuvialuit, Kalaallit, and I may have missed a few more?
Is there any good websites to learn about native cultures? I don't want to read incorrect information. I definitely want to educate myself!
Omg yes I need good reliable info
So I don't know if this will help but I'm a part of the narragansett tribe in Rhode island and there is a museum called the tomoquag museum. It is dedicated to teach people about the native American culture and it has a webpage. If you scroll to the bottom there is a link to educational resources. I hope this helps!

Depends what area you are in and the tribe you want to learn about. I’m in the interior Salish region, if you by any chance are as well then I’ll be more then happy to give good resources. :)
Their culture is breathtaking. The Pow-Wow music is ethereal.
my grandma was part native, and i miss her so much. i wish i was closer to her, learning about native actually helps that.
4:54 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
On a more serious note indigenous from all over the world should have been left alone, but it happened, they weren't, and were almost completely wiped out from existing but no more. Now is the time to teach the little ones who they are and familiarize those who have never learned or have never been taught their history. Atleast then people can rebuild what has been violently removed from them.
Native Chief Art 🔥❤ amzn.to/32DGb8M
Feather Headdress🔥❤ amzn.to/3mLA7mk.
What do the feathers in a headdress represent?
People always associate Indian headdress with feathers, but do you know what the feathers represent? Warriors earned a feather each time he did something the tribe felt was a brave act. Many times, the first feather earned by a warrior was given to him for being seen as an adult member of the tribe.
mmmmmm i dont know if i like this- removed my like from the video because putting this ad for a really horrible company profiting off of indigenous people?under a video about indigenous folk? i dont know if that sits right with me, but im willing to be corrected if i read this wrong

Me too
Im a proud full blooded Choctaw right here and I love seeing other tribes going onto TikTok and representing all of us
I hope all of you guys are safe!!!
My stepmom and brothers are Navajo while my dad is part Apache. But I’m mainly Mexicano. Anyways, I love watching these.
Interestingly there are alot of natives in Mexico too. I mean it was literally the same continent. Native Mexican are indigenous to the continent but seperated by the border.
people always forget the indigenous people in latin america.
So much of great wisdom is in their culture I admire them, the America is still their home.
This was so awesome thank you so much
Last one gave me shivers.
The girl braiding her hair was gorgeous. Native Americans have a distinct natural beauty. Best hair of any culture that’s for sure♥️
