  • Easy,
    Hello and welcome back to the DNB basics series. throughout these videos, I will take you from a blank project to a finished track. This lesson will be based around reworking a break from a sample pack into something original and creating a vibe that we can start working from. I will also go into a deeper explanation of how some basic effects work along the way! If you want to follow along with me then the sample pack and template are available on my website- links below!

    I'm not a DnB producer, in fact I make a sort of psychedelic Glitch, but I find that it's useful to explore different techniques, whether it's for sound design, arrangement, composition or mixing. So thank you, the video is great, very informative, and accessible, I think you can find something here whether you're a seasoned pro or an amateur looking to start somewhere. A hug from Italy!

    Great vid and content man, dunno how I've just found this channel!
    Most of these techniques I'm familiar with but it's always useful to see other peoples workflows and explanations - Love the tip on slightly de-tuning the second snare! Deffo gonna be using that one.
    One question - I noticed you have four separate return tracks for reverb (plate/small room/large room/hall)... why? No shade, genuinely curious. I've only just started using returns in the last year (after 7 years of producing 😅) and I'm finding one reverb return track to do the job. Though lots of tracks still need their own personalised verb.
    On a separate tip, if you're using OBS to record, I'd strongly recommend going into Sources, right-click the Microphone input, then click Filters. From there, Click the + sign in the bottom left (add filter), and add "Noise Suppression", and select RNNoise.
    The general production quality is great - it's just missing some noise suppression - the mic is also picking up the sound of the keyboard, mouse clicks and the general humming of the devices.
    If you're graphics card is an nVidia RTX 2060 or above, you're can use nVidia Broadcast software, which does all the above, and more, but better. Highly Recommended.
    Keep up the good work man!
    Subbed.

    Great video! Subbed! But i have one question tho: Is there a reason why don't use SEND (Busses) e.g. for reverbs? I know that Ableton have groups but still.

    • @DjViceroy
      @DjViceroy 3 года назад +2

      Sometimes you want reverb for sound design purposes instead of them all going through the same send.

    • @SceptreMusic
      @SceptreMusic  3 года назад +1

      Thanks man, it’s because it gives you greater control of the mix of the effect to volume of the dry signal. it’s like using the send as “pre fader” . And yes what @MMMGrower said this was for a sound design purpose rather than mix down.

    • @Warjah104
      @Warjah104 3 года назад +1

      Thanks for clearing that out. Both of you. I'm only in beginning phase of learning curve, so i tend to ask about things that i've seen in other tutorials and trying learn my way to do it. It's hard and there's no "snake oil" available 😅 Thanks again.

    Hey, could you kindly re-locate your camera? As a beginner, it freaks me out not being able to see what's done bottom left. I know you explain what you're adjusting, yet I think it would help more to actually being able to see what's going on down there. Apart from that, I like your tutorials so far!
