Honestly this is so good! I have adopted a shelter dog. It’s been 4 days now since he arrived. We had a lot of luck because he was immediately drawn to us. The walk on the leash wasn’t that easy tho and he was always running ahead and pulling on the leash. I tried this today for a whole hour and omg it worked!!!! Of course I have to repeat it over and over again but this was by far the best walk within the 4 days. I’m so glad I found this video. Haven’t had these issues with my first dog which I got when he was still a puppy. That’s why I think I will have to work even harder and have a lot of patience with this one. Thanks a lot ! You are great

Do you think it’s a good idea to first let the pup walk around on a loose leash and smell around to explore the area then he’s familiar then you start the discipline training? The first time outside area will be new to him so he will want to explore and smell around. At the same time if I let my dog do this at first then it’s hard to change the structure from him walking around loosely to suddenly having to be right next to me. I don’t know. Thoughts?

Good luck with the technique! Also dogs don’t choke if you teach them not to pull on leash no matter what type of equipment you are using. However, if the dog has a tracheal avulsion previously existing, choking may occur and a harness may be helpful.

I used the technique he suggested, as I turned around I would call my dogs name gently but firmly, she would then cue in to me and would turn with me. I also would just stop at random intervals. She would in turn stop as well. So all these things combined work pretty well, not perfect but pretty well.

Watched a couple of your videos and promptly subscribed to your channel. While I have 2 really well behaved dogs I'm always trying to improve my training methods. And I've been impressed with your techniques. Thank you for sharing. I also think by sharing your knowledge your showing people that a gentle touch can work too.

This works! My four year old border collie has been pulling since he was 12 weeks old. Spent 30 minutes teaching him this way, and we was walking mostly loose leash by the end of the walk. Give it a week and I think he’ll get the hang of it. Thanks!!!

Hi, I am helping a neighbour walk their young belgian shepherd. If I use this technique consistently, will it work if the owners don't do the same thing? Or will it just confuse the dog?

Great video! So far, this technique has allowed me to able to teach my new dog to walk calmly up and down the road as long as there are no distractions. Next step is to proof the behavior and to teach him to not get distracted, but it'll be a lot easier now.

This is helpful. My son's gf has a dog that comes to visit and I walk a lot. The dog is a nightmare to walk, she weaves back and forth and I am constantly turning around because the leash is wrapped around the opposite side. It's more than frustrating.

You make it look so easy. My dog is 5 months old and whenever I try to go walk him he loops around my legs or walks across and in front of me making me fall 😫 lol but I will try this! Hopefully it works 🤞

I could Walk your Dog for you a few times a month when you busy?
And Yep, you'll get a discount for being So Cute 😏
      What do you say?
However if you are in another state you'll have to fly me out though.
I'm THAT GOOD and worth it
      What do you say? 😏

Would just like to say thank you for a concise and easy to follow guide. Just started with my dog today (Boston terrier) and he can already do it around the house very well, just got to start practicing outside.
Was much easier than I anticipated, I put off of teaching him this for over a year, because I thought it would be very difficult... Luckily I found your video :)
