      Hey buddy, all you did was get that dog use to another dog. Nothing impressive here. By the way, you clearly are a professional dog trainer. Its sad that people cant see the obvious. Pinch collars would have worked a million times better. The next dog it sees is just going to set it off again.

      I am curious what you have to say about the fact that bribing a dog with food is a questionable strategy also. Dog treats are highly processed cancer sticks. If you're going to do this, get an apple, slice it and use that!
      If you make your dog fat, that is probably worse than using a choke chain or shock collar. I've seen the results of your technique with lazy owners. That's how you end up with a diabetic dog!

      Zak George’s Dog Training Revolution It would be beneficial if you worked with a dog that is legitimately untrained. That dog can do the Wistminster Dog show she’s so well behaved. If the dog doesn’t look in your eye like you demonstrated in beginning should you lift her head? Force her to look? When you’re successful then tape that. Move on. Showing a fully trained dog already doesn’t help the average person who is trying to do it from scratch. But thanks for the try.

    Update on Ace - I have gotten him involved in playing some of the games ruclips.net/user/postUgkx1_veP7CApJK_GWy_TczaMciuG64PqJeU and I can see a difference in his confidence already! My other dog played along and he became intrigued - now its a daily part of our routine - about 3 times a day we do the shell game and the muffin tin game. I am so grateful for coming upon your training techniques!

      He said earlier in the video, you cannot expect your dog to walk properly on a leash if he/she has no other training. You have to work on getting your dogs attention on command prior to being leash trained.

      Here’s a method that worked with me. It’s called ‘leash tension’ you have to teach your dog to walk two steps back by putting a little bit of tension on the leash behind there neck, once they step one foot back reward them, and lose the tension. Keep doing this for 2 or 3 days and then when they pull and you put tension on the leash they’ll slow down.

    Absolutely wonderful teaching. I just rescued a 10 month old, male American Pit Bull Terrier. The lady of the house trained her very well. Unfortunately, boyfriend wasn't a good person to him. I've been practicing park walking. He is very attentive and willing to please. This video is really a PEOPLE training video. Thank you for your great instruction. I'll be applying these techniques tomorrow and from now on.

    This was SO helpful! Thank you very much for all the work that you do. You have made my life with my dog so much better. I feel like we understand each other now. In fact, when he doesn't understand, I simply take it as a challenge rather than getting frustrated. As a result of these videos, I bring a consistency to our relationship that I can tell my dog really enjoys. It allows him to understand my language and gestures, and he is more than willing to please when he simply understands what his crazy human is trying to communicate to him.

      agreed Zak needs to do a video with a pulling dog like a Husky. I trained my husky to heel but it's difficult for them to not want to pull. we do Urban Mushing together because her pull drive is so high I'd like to see him to try and handle a full grown Husky.

    • @dariarylkova5720
      @dariarylkova5720 7 лет назад +4

      Jessica parks you shouldnt expect your dog to heel for long periods of time. The walk is supposed to be for them to enjoy. Depending on where we're walking, my husky will walk 3-10ft in front of me on a loose leash. Ive taught him the command "slow" when he needs to slow down & "this way" when he needs to look at me because we're changing direction from where he's trying to go. He pulls to the side when he wants to sniff, so "leave it" is also important. He does well on a collar or his harness. It took a good two years to get really consistent communication & still occasionally give high value treats to keep him motivated. I only have him heel if we're in a very crowded area. We go on 3-5 mile walks in a city setting at a time, so lots of distractions.

    • @jessicaparks283
      @jessicaparks283 7 лет назад +2

      My dogs aren't foreign to Mushing commands. They know onby, Gee, Haw, hike, and I don't expect my dog to heel all the time lol. I expect my dogs to respect my commands. I think you misunderstood my comment. Thats ok it happens. Let me be a little clearer. I think he needs to show a dog that takes longer than a 15 minute video to train loose leash walking so there's more of an accurate depiction of what the majority of northern breeds face.

    • @dariarylkova5720
      @dariarylkova5720 7 лет назад +1

      Jessica parks You said that you taught heel as an alternative to pulling, so I was responding to that cause lots of people think their dog should walk behind or beside them. I've been a bit lazy to teach directional commands, but need to cause we go hiking a lot when he's off leash and it would be useful if I could tell him which direction to go ahead of time.
      There are videos out there that claim: stop pulling in 10min etc which just put a prong collar on the dog or do the back & forth walks with dogs that don't pull. I agree that Zach's arent the most detailed videos, they just get you started, but I've repeatedly heard him say it takes months to years to get good communication on a variety of behaviors. Its obvious this dog has had a lot of training, and Zach is showing how to proof a few things.
      The kikopup channel has more detailed explanations for approaches to leash manners with positive reinforcement/negative punishment.

    Great advice! I've usually trained walking in leash by completely stopping walking when the dog pulls (so they learn they have to walk back a little bit if they wanna get anywhere) and then use a shorter and shorter leash until they walk by my left foot. It has always worked, that is until I got my newest foster puppy who is terrified of cars (I have reason to believe she has been hit by one as she's currently being diagnosed for a knee damage by vets and her tail is deformed). Because of this, she goes bananas on walks so my regular methods haven't worked at all. All the other dogs have understood that we need to walk in the same pace while she is so distracted by her surroundings often combined with fear, also she's barely able to focus on me on walks. I'll try this method and hopefully Barbie will learn to ignore her surroundings a little better 😄

      MY pitbull pup is just 8 months old she is for the most part a good dog I've watched your videos since she was 8 weeks old ... I don't know why she is so vocal very loud as if she's talking to me. she is spoiled but I won't let her be aggressive try to hold me. however she isn't good on a leash and im working on her jumping .. I often wonder if she will protect the house and me I do have her hold and release. now I need to teach her how to attack and hold until I tell her to release. I do make her focus and look at me when training also I don't let her stare me down she turns her head before I take my eyes off of her. not sure if I'm doing everything correct

    ZZak, I have been a fan of yours since I adopted amazingly strong puppy at 2 months old. Everything he has learned has been from your videos. I had no experience in the beginning. I am proud that we have come this far.
    I have a serious issue right now. He is about 1.5 years and today for the first time he pulled me face first into the dirt because he wanted to say hello to my neighbor. He is a very friendly loving dog who has muscles on his muscles. I have never seen such a strong muscular dog. I am very proud of my boy but I need for him to listen to me.
    I am going through chemotherapy right now. As I have Stage 4 Lymphoma. I have two ESA dogs. Normally I walk them together. Recently I have not always had the strength due to the treatments. I need to learn quickly how to stop Paws from pulling me in the direction he wants to go. Especially when he is super excited like he was today. I don't want to land on my face again or worse have him pull away from me.
    Any advice you can give would be very much appreciated. Thank you kindly. Paws mom

    Love your content! My family and I just adopted a beautiful 2.5 year old pittie from a shelter, she comes home this Saturday! I'm binge watching your videos to prepare myself to welcome her and give her the best home possible.
    I trust your advice because I've used your videos on puppy training on my mother's 12 week old puppy last year and he was so receptive to your methods and before my vacation with them was done he could sit, stay and laydown like a champ!
    Keep revolutionizing dog training! Your doing an amazing job of it.

    • @rainstormcloud102
      @rainstormcloud102 7 лет назад +28

      did u not notice in the beginning he did state that ur dog should have basics (sit, down etc) completely down before moving it up to walking nice on leash...btw some dogs will never pull it's just something that happens and u can't always control it on camera in all scenerios. do u even have a dog? i have a 7mo old deaf Pit Bull who knows all the hand signals for all the basic training steps (sit, down, come, stay, leave it) and i did all that in 2 months by myself. When i got him he knew NOTHING! it takes dedication to ur dog to train them CORRECTLY.

    I think my dog does the pulling because she wants to explore. We have a large yard and whenever she pulls, and I just follow her, she'll go to plants and sniff them. One of the cutest things she does is whenever I let her off the leash in our yard, she jumps in the pond and takes a swim. Cute and funny because she always has a (what I view as a) smile on her face.

    • @nocturne2029
      @nocturne2029 6 лет назад +3

      A martingale collar might help since they're hard to get out of (they are wide collars that tighten when pulled so the dog can't slip out) but it probably won't stop your dog from trying to escape in the first place, just make it harder. I must say the other reply about the prong collar is probably right, it'll show your dog that trying to escape results in discomfort.

    Great tips. Will start to apply since my 5yr old friend Schnoodle Pako sometimes just takes off after squirrels or cats. Good thing is when I see a cat laying by street I will say no b4 we pass n he listens. One area I would like to see n I just saw stop biting for puppys but Pako will start to show his teeth when a child wants to pet n sometime snaps. Want him to stop doing that since most children think he’s a puppy. Thanks so much for being there for us.

Do you think you could give advice on what to do if your dog is scared to leave the apartment? My dog hates walking, for years we have tried to walk it, drag it across the streets. For the past few years we gave up and now we just go down the front of the house until he does his business and then he immediately pulls home, he won't respond to treats or anything while we are across the street. I have to carry him outside every day. Please help us out! :)
