Have you or anyone noticed that some boss subwoofers have different T/S parameters? It could be the same product, but the official website, official re-sellers sites and the user manual list completely different specs for tuning and enclosure size, among other discrepancies. Sorry to complain, but that's my gripe with Boss. However, I still like my little be8d woofer and i even built a cute little ported enclosure for it and it does well. Thank you for these videos, have a great new week!✌🏼💯🔊
You would be surprised, at just how many manufacturers tsp's are not accurate. And I don't mean just the budget branded subwoofers and drivers...It's also big names as well. Pick you up DATS from Parts Express...it's a great tried and true program, and very accurate. I have used it for many, many years...and used to use, the Woofer Tester program way before it, for older Windows. You'll be amazed, at how many speakers in general, have invalid TSP'S.
@@Chuck_Sanders I'll look into that, thanks! I used the loudspeaker database for the info for WinISD and it had a woofer profile for that one(but not a comp c one, go figure!), but I'm not sure how they came up with the results. I still managed to make a decent enclosure, but the manual was listing the same size enclosure for the 8, 10, and 12" models @1.5cu ft, the tunings were different though. All in the course of doing what is basshead love doing. Take it easy!
I've been using Boss audio subs for years now they have a really good quality for the $, I've had 3-15 inch subs in a 98 Civic and afterwards changed car for a Yaris iA with 3-12s and Boss Audio used a picture I took for 1 of their magazine's or cover. I was happy since people talk trash about the brand and 90% of the time it was their own mistake.
im a car stereo world champ many times, and i fully support as to good quality for the price and good SQL, and enough db...they overate power but so what...people got babies and daipers to pay for.....so boss get them stuff cheap....boss is da boss
I've found boss to be a surprisingly solid "bang for watt" product. The key is, you have to IGNORE their ratings. So for instance, tell yourself that the RMS of these are say.. 500 watts. THEN, compare them to other similar sized speakers making that same true power. When looking through those lenses, and comparing them against those similar products, I've been surprised a few times from boss - particularly in their marine line. Boss also has one of the best warranties in the audio industry. The same can be said about their amplifiers. Take their 4000 "armor" watt sub amp which sells for like $150 and really mentally think of it like as a.... 400-500 watt amp (it's laughable how off their ratings are). But as a $150, 400-500 watt true RMS @ 4ohm amp, it's pretty darn good!! (pulled those numbers from "BidDWiz") Or to make it really easy, as Parker pointed out, keep it "in the family." So pair up their "4000" watt sub to their "4000 watt" amp and you'll be fine. Because both are overrated lol.
No real need to compare with other brands. Just hand them money and they'll do the best they can for the price (along with a bunch of laughable lies, but still). I had a BOSS amp back in the late 90s. Had it for years. I TORTURED that amp, and it never died on me. Now Kicker? Kicker amps will burn out, EASY. Never run Kicker amps at their lowest impedance rating. I burned out two Kicker amps in under a year by running them hot n heavy at 1 ohm. Nowadays, I just buy Rockford Fosgate and JL Audio, but there was a time when my pocketbook was more than a little thin, and for the PRICE... Totally.
I had the same 15 as my first woofer on the boss 1200 watt amp and it flexed the trunk of my crown Vic and wasn't bad until I wanted to experience the more expensive stuff
I've been pushing boss audio for 10 yrs minimum. Every single pair had needed over 100 hours of flex time @ like 1/3 max power... then advance to like 2/3 max. After roughly 2 weeks... they really bang alot more. Rocking 3-12" phantom 2ohm dvc. But I like em for the quality of mid & low! Great bang for the buck! 💯 🙌
So an idea, should do a SPL build off with a chosen sub across the board (spin the wheel for a vote select list) and participants will have to build a box, amp choice is up to the builder, and do the dopest destruction of the subs to win. But it has to be done the Parker way. Same songs and all.
Thanks. A 1200 watt amp is a perfect match! Thanks for all your time with these videos bro you show some cool stuff And I especially like cheap subs like these that sounds great at a lower volume. Peace
Finally some decent and consistent content from a bass head you tuber. Love your stuff man. You have helped me make a lot of purchase decisions on setups
I dont know the price of These but the Main differences i can see in the tsp is that they dont have the best spl and need very big enclosures but for a starter with a small amp and much room they could do okay and maybe the customer get the Chance to upgrade from that Cheap Single 15 to a decent 18inch in the Same enclosure
Parker? Get your TIP or thx section working please. This video deserves one. Thanks dude! And the VIDEO had me laughing so hard I spilled my my drink. Bravo !
There's a company called Dynavox that make the cheapest speakers I know of. The 6.5" is $11.00, have big motors and sound good, and i've actually used 'em. The $39.00 18"s have got me curious. Might make a good video.
I had two memphis mojo 15s in high-school, kid came in rolling with 2 of these boss subs and thought they were far superior to mine. Lol he was proven wrong.
Obviously there is a huge difference between a continuous power rating and a peak power rating, but I'm shocked they actually withstood their advertised peak. Thought for sure they'd bottom out with 500w, so I'm impressed they took over 3,000 watts each and didn't come apart.
Honestly decent subs for budget home audio, fs is relatively low (21hz) With a big, properly tuned box (7 ft3 or so) they would hit and sounds great. Wouldn’t want them in my car though

I drive a "Honey wagon" and from what I used so far....turned heads and only have gotten great feedback from everyone on all my job sites. And I've only been using some amature equipment that easily blow my boxes apart.
The armor series 12”s are unintentionally pretty good free air. 4 of those bad boys in a low wall with no box on a cheap class ab amp could get you some pretty solid score in the low 30’s with amazing sound quality for pretty cheap and with very little space taken up, with like 120 watts lol.
They are budget but not bad. I had a Boss Audio head unit, Power Acoustic for full range and a Boss amp. Lightning Audio 6x9. Audiopipe 15. For the money it wasn’t bad. Just don’t expect any of it to hit this Peak number. These companies would be fine if they didn’t focus on giant numbers. The products are ok and priced easy to get.
Going back and watching old builds like this and the Walmart and kicker series. I’m surprised they took anything . I bet with a budget amp those would bang decent just don’t show anyone the setup lol! Digging in the crates with Parker and big d wiz ona Friday 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Best highest performance sub ever made. I will definitely build a wall with eight of these things. That's 20,000 Watts, hell yeah. And if you take that highly effective plastic boot off the bottom, you can use these in a shallow box behind the seat in your pickup.........
What’s your favorite budget 12” subwoofer? I’ve ran a single American bass xfl or whatever it was called.. it was 200$ and I’ve also ran dual Rockford p3s they all sounded good. I just want to know what your favorite dual 12” set up was on a budget. I’m having a hard time figuring out what I want without wasting my money.
Skar DDX subs are very good for the money. Jacob Fuller(Sundown) designed them for Kevin. Nice drivers, handle more then rated power, great motor design, and sound great for the price point. I don't promote brands and u don't bash brands either. But, they're good daily subs.
I can not believe those P.O.S. subs took over 6000 watts and didn't turn into smoke. I have blown up some pretty cheap subs with a lot less. Boss is pure crap. awhile back during the chip shortage I bought one of their head units because that all that was available and it was terrible and it was top of the line for them. I ended up returning it and buying a used Kenwood from marketplace
I like to put these in old 80's floorstanding speakers. You can find them in thrift stores and goodwill. I just got a pair of sony 3 way speakers. They have a 1.5 in tweeter, 3 inch midrange and 10 inch sub. I got two 10 in pyle powers off of Amazon for $35. I cut out the 3 inch midrange hole and put hole for some old 6x9's. 🤣 They sound amazing now and they can handle at least 300 watts each. Heck they could even work for a pa or dj system. I reinforced the inside with braces.
They'd be great for a workshop or home audio. They may not be the best for most people, but they can be the best for people that don't have much to spend. I do agree @Parker that they sound better at lower power. You had me laughing the whole video, great job sir!
@CreatiVe Back in the 90s, Boss was indeed what Skar is today, budget friendly junk to get a little bump in the trunk. Of course Skar is better as sub woofer than Boss, audio tech has advanced 100fold since the 90s and Boss clearly never advanced and with Skar being a newer company they had to at least utilize some degree of cookie cutter specs.
@@Chuck_Sanders Boss amps always sucked, even when Zed was building PART of them. Even when Zed was building part of the amps, the rest was cheaped out on and still didn't putout the documented rms ratings, even back then it was known, to take a Boss rms and cut it in half and you have your actual rms. Besides, the amps he worked on weren't sold with the rest of the boss line ups, they were sold at a permium but were still crap. He had better success with Hifonics and acoustics and a couple others.
In 1996 eight cerwin Vega strokers hit 160 db off of a lil over 6400 watts of linear power amps power. It’s crazy how nowadays it take guys from 20k to 60k watts to do that with about 800 pounds of subs . A lot of these giant motor crazy heavy inefficient subs of today are a gimmick. Most don’t even have any cone area just a dust cap and surround. If they would get back to building subs as a science and not just who’s the heaviest, then it wouldn’t take as much power to make good numbers. Plus if made in USA companies like linear power amps, soundstream , ppi , zapco , phoenix gold, mtx , xtant etc.. would come back and show these new amp brands whose their daddies would be nice. Of course I’m talking about before they sold their businesses to cheap foreign companies. The best thing about new car audio is the awesome ass electrical now. From the alts to the caps and lithium batteries. Now that’s baddazz of todays car audio. P.S digital designs, fosgate, JL audio and a few others still make good original designed equipment in my opinion. Sub on world✌️

Being that said, boss has always been considered a cheap entry level brand and the company has made millions selling this stuff and been around a lot longer than Sundown Audio. Hahaha!
Hey they lasted longer than the Rockville destroyer subs lol
Hahahahahaha
They call them Boss for a reason. That's the real deal right there. I personally filled my truck with them bad boys! Haters gonna hate but that's all good!
Im pretty new to car audio, I have 2 subwoofers and a 2000w rms amp, what thickness of cable should I use when wiring the subs in the box?
The amount of sarcasm 1 1/2 mins in is overwhelming
You were cracking me up with the subtitles at the beginning of the video. I'm kind of surprised they lasted as long as they did. Good video, parker. Keep em coming!
7:43 If I'm not wrong that is back to the hotel
I bought two 12” phantoms. The 2300 watt and I didn’t expect much but they turned out to be some of the best I’ve ever had and I have won several comps in my time.
I had a boss 10 inch a while ago it was rated to take 600 rms and it always started smelling when I got close to the 400 rms range
@@homebody0089 you're very welcome my friend. ✌
Can u drop a playlist of the music if possible
Love the last star fighter esuq motor assembly, gives the impression that 2500 watts could potentially launch these cones into orbit.
(pulled those numbers from "BidDWiz")
Or to make it really easy, as Parker pointed out, keep it "in the family." So pair up their "4000" watt sub to their "4000 watt" amp and you'll be fine.
I had the boss 2 12s on 2000 watt amp blow them, then got to the real stuff then fried them so bad.....
We need more Parker Sarcasm! LOVE IT!!
Thanks so much man!! This was a lot of fun to make 😂😂
So an idea, should do a SPL build off with a chosen sub across the board (spin the wheel for a vote select list) and participants will have to build a box, amp choice is up to the builder, and do the dopest destruction of the subs to win. But it has to be done the Parker way. Same songs and all.
I'm also extremely surprised they didn't blow up way way earlier.
Thanks. A 1200 watt amp is a perfect match! Thanks for all your time with these videos bro you show some cool stuff
And I especially like cheap subs like these that sounds great at a lower volume. Peace
Thanks man! It was a fun video to make

Around 400

Surprised…not bad for the price…imagine 12 of these….
If I was going to do a budget build though I would run lanzar audio
Yeah I want to do something with Lanzar haha
I dont know the price of These but the Main differences i can see in the tsp is that they dont have the best spl and need very big enclosures but for a starter with a small amp and much room they could do okay and maybe the customer get the Chance to upgrade from that Cheap Single 15 to a decent 18inch in the Same enclosure
Parker? Get your TIP or thx section working please. This video deserves one. Thanks dude! And the VIDEO had me laughing so hard I spilled my my drink. Bravo !
I just added it!! Thanks man!
Great video man. This one was funny AF 😂 keep up the good work.
There's a company called Dynavox that make the cheapest speakers I know of. The 6.5" is $11.00, have big motors and sound good, and i've actually used 'em. The $39.00 18"s have got me curious. Might make a good video.
Do an isobaric 8th order with them! 186db at 31hz ?
Aw man!! Soo much flex in those bad boys absolutely tearing that interior apart!!!

I had two memphis mojo 15s in high-school, kid came in rolling with 2 of these boss subs and thought they were far superior to mine. Lol he was proven wrong.
I used to run boss amps back in the 90s the pawn store sold them new
"Hey guys I'm a wannabee whistlin woopher and I blow a lot of woophers"
Obviously there is a huge difference between a continuous power rating and a peak power rating, but I'm shocked they actually withstood their advertised peak. Thought for sure they'd bottom out with 500w, so I'm impressed they took over 3,000 watts each and didn't come apart.
Honestly decent subs for budget home audio, fs is relatively low (21hz) With a big, properly tuned box (7 ft3 or so) they would hit and sounds great. Wouldn’t want them in my car though
Why not
@@Manmadecontent just better equipment out there, not hating on the brand. It wouldn’t really meet my needs for a car audio application. I’m running a custom rf-t2
Hey Parker! Love your videos, I've been playing with "Discreetly" converting my work truck system into a beast being that I'm not trying to piss off my boss of 30+ years. 😂😂😂🤔🤫 Just wandering what 3 shallow 10" enclosures you would recommend using. I drive a "Honey wagon" and from what I used so far....turned heads and only have gotten great feedback from everyone on all my job sites. And I've only been using some amature equipment that easily blow my boxes apart.
Like everyone says, preciate the budget stuff testing.
Good to hear!!
6 of these, in a proper sized 4th, on that amp, would be interesting build
The armor series 12”s are unintentionally pretty good free air. 4 of those bad boys in a low wall with no box on a cheap class ab amp could get you some pretty solid score in the low 30’s with amazing sound quality for pretty cheap and with very little space taken up, with like 120 watts lol.
best woofers Boss had were the outcast series......total sleepers
Man you guys blow me away with all these videos,I gotta step it up🤣
They are budget but not bad.
I'm surprised they lasted that long on 8k! Plus they really had your truck shakin' but TRASH!!!!! Very funny video bro!🤣💪🏾
Going back and watching old builds like this and the Walmart and kicker series. I’m surprised they took anything . I bet with a budget amp those would bang decent just don’t show anyone the setup lol! Digging in the crates with Parker and big d wiz ona Friday 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I hope your neighbors didn't get mad with all that bass. 😂😂😂
Best highest performance sub ever made. I will definitely build a wall with eight of these things. That's 20,000 Watts, hell yeah. And if you take that highly effective plastic boot off the bottom, you can use these in a shallow box behind the seat in your pickup.........
Definitely should try planet audio 3600 12s, I hear they're even better than boss lol
Boss is planet audio.
I remember back in 98 and 2000 when Boss and Audiobahn were very small company selling what they could when they could now look at them
I had Boss in my car in high school in
1993 with kicker 12's inch subwoofers.
Good for the price.
Super hilarious sarcasm in the beginning 😂😂😂
Can't wait to see what happens!!!
1200watts Sony Xplod Amp is more than enough for those 2-15s, and great setup.
Put all 4 in a sealed box and they would sound great. Not so much a SPL subwoofer, but surprisingly nice SQ.
from the numbers looks like a big sealed box is needed with the low fs I'd guess your right about sq
@@tattoosbyMrIndio the fs of a driver, doesn't really mean anything. The Vas and Q factors, is what matters more.
I had those like 10 years ago...due to their qts and vas a huge box is the way to go if u want them to have any kind of sq...
Lmfao when I saw the numbers I was thinking that's a huge sealed box I'm sure it sounds good in a proper box
Trolling Boss....I started out with Boss audio equipment. It served its purpose...Ill never go back to them tho!
Lmfao probably trolling cause they have better installs on Amazon haha
Right now for 245 bucks you can get the mtx terminator dvc 12s in box with a 500.1 amp. Subs are 1000 watts each so 2000 watt max. Great deal
This video got me cracking up the whole time 😂😂😂 you da man 🫵🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
that sundown is ridiculous i love it!
God dang bro. You gonna throw your back out picking up those Boss Audio 15's!
You can probably use them as dj subs in horn loaded enclosures.
Gotta love boss 6x9 speakers where the leads to the spider wore out before the speakers did.
I'm curious to know what percentage of Boss subs are sold just to be destroyed 😆👍👍 Thank you for the videos!!
Finally some real subs on the channel👏
This video was amazing man the sarcasm 🤭🤣🙆♂️
Haha thanks man! It was fun to make!
Parker I'm guessing they are maybe 300-500 watts rms each realistically. Would you agree?
😂😂this is like the match box cars you don't like to play with but you have to include them😂😂
They'd be great for a workshop or home audio. They may not be the best for most people, but they can be the best for people that don't have much to spend. I do agree @Parker that they sound better at lower power. You had me laughing the whole video, great job sir!
Yep boss and pyle are my go to for house project speakers. Cheap and great for the 200-300 watt range.

Rule of thumb with BOSS ratings is to divide by 10 for the true rating.
BUT IT SAYS PEAK!! i would normally divide by 4 or 5. works every time.
Boss audio in the 90's was the Skar audio of today. Both are bottom tier crap but people still bought it up!
@CreatiVe they are both junk, just different scales of junk 🤷♂️.
Lol damn
So, Steve Mantz built crap amplifiers? Even when he built them for Boss in the 90's and up?
Sub on world✌️
I’m not going to lie… They did pretty damn good to be what they are!
140DB on 2x15s is quite bad but not as bad as people think most beginner beginners start off with something playing music at 120s to low 130DB then migrate upwards if they keep at it.

I really would like to see if 1500w rms would destroy these. I got the 1500w 10 inch ones. My amp is pushing 1500w rms to two of them and it started smelling. They won't handle 750w each. I got mine at around 800w pushing seems still to harsh lol.

@@ParkerTheBasshead Boss was very decent in the 90's to early 2000's as most all of their products were made in America. Many of their amplifiers and crossovers were made by Steve Mantz(ZED Audio). Like almost all great brands from the 80's to the early 2000's that were U.S.A made, have all been outsourced to China. Parker, I know it's a parody of sorts, but you made the comment at the start, about the sub being made in China, but... more than 90% of all drivers, are made in China. And those few, that are "assembled" in America, still get their ferrite, neo(and or whole motor assembled)baskets, cones spiders and so forth(with the exception of PE coils made here) from China. After 31 years in audio as a whole(not just car audio), I've seen many companies sell out, to China. I get that you were trying to be funny about this segment... but you, just like everyone else, started out with what you could afford. Boss Audio, just like soooo many other budget brands, have their place in the audio industry. I have never hugged a particular brand, but I also won't bash one either.
@@Chuck_Sanders thank you I was laughing at the maid in China too cuz everything is made in China.
