Definitely agree, time for an upgrade! And preciate the DB 3515r recone I just recently got from you. Arrived in good shape and your customer service staff was prompt and quick!
And a recone for that killer sub. Like others have said here the coil was probably damaged in the last video when Parker learned the hard way to break in extra stiff spiders. (8-10 hours full tilt 20hz on the bench) Once he gets a recone and a proper break-in I'd love to see what this combo can really do. I think he just scratched the surface.
Damn bro that was crazy. It doesn't matter what people say at the end of the day this is your channel and your money if someone wants to sponsor you that great.
I'm gonna throw this out there... Your sponsor, Alphahard Audio, has a beautiful half bridge amplifier AAK. 20,000.1d. You've seen what their subs at all levels can do. With a 20,000 watt amp, you'll never need another amp.
As someone who has gone the surfboard route, it would be better to get two smaller amps. 20kW half bridge is going to have scary voltage rails, so if/when something does go wrong it's going to happen fast and with extreme destruction. They are harder and more dangerous to fix as well, selling them becomes an issue when it's time to move on. I would avoid >10kW amps like the plague.
Well the guy that said that is an idiot lol how tf is parker supposed to make all this great content? Hed have to be a millionaire with no job lol obviously he needs a sponsor. Thats what any youtuber strives for.
@robertthabassheadjacobson4968 I agree. Stereo equipment isn't cheap, especially when you put 11 thousands watts through a sub lol. Great entertainment!
I would think that the coil got nicked when the spiders came apart and gave it a weak point and when you gave it alot of power it caused it to short out and fry your amp would be my guess. Bummer bro, it happens to the best of us. Keep on bassin on Parker.
I would agree. The coil rocked when he ripped the spider the first time, and probably rubbed the coating(glue) on the coil winding on the top plate. It caused an open coil, and therefore caused a dead short issue under load, in the gap...arched and bridged the gap. That can and will kill any amps output section. Sucks, but it happens.
Sub never blew! Just popped spider up and 1 side. Coil is not nicked. Sub still works fine. He didn't allow for proper break-in of the spider. Amp went out because that headway bank aint even close to what that amp needs for power
I've noticed that from full bridge amps if you push the too far too quick they will heat up way faster, and that sub is complete beast, I'd like to see what it does on a Korean amp
I need to buy an extinguisher as well, for those just incase moments, on my video recordings. Glad you were able to put it out asap. Always remember these things can always get replaced!!!
You handled that well. Great job showing everyone at the end of the day that we have to keep a cool head because we can always get the equipment back and safety first!! Sucks that it popped like that but its all a huge part of what we do.
I keep a set of sky high 4/0 wire loppers in the car along with an extinguisher for this very scenario. Quicker to chop the wires than scramble for fuses/lugs. can save amp damage cutting power quicker as well
the part all bass heads hate the most, a blown amp.the feeling is all to real..Wish you could sent that amp over to barevids so he can do the repairs. and make a video of it .
That's a beast of a sub, insane. Can you get your hands on a Pierce Audio series 8k MOAB? 8000watt RMS (supposedly) I've never seen anyone test them. That would also be insane, and great to see
For future tests you might want to run an AC rated inline fuse between your amp and subs. The amperage rating of the fuse you will need to run will depend on the wattage and voltage output from the amp but this would save your amp next time you blow a sub as the fuse will blow instead.. On another note, it's cool you did get to spl test this sub and scored the best you've done for a single 12. I just metered my Orion HCCA 122 last night and did a 142.82 @ 39hz. Would love to see a detailed video on what happened in this video, did the sub fail and take out the amp or did the amp just fail and the sub is still good?
@@lipiuuth I don't have a HCCASPLX 12, I have the HCCA 12. They're very different subs to be honest and I'm not sure what the SPLX requires for a box but I'm running my HCCA 122 in a 2.5cuft net box tuned to 34hz on a Kicker KXA2400.1 (that apparently I set the gain with my sub level turned down before I metered 😆). I know the SPLX was designed to be a burp sub in a very small box tuned a bit higher on a ton of power so I'd guess 1.5-1.75cuft net tuned to 36-38hz for the 12 but I'm not entirely sure. I know the HCCA 122 is surprisingly musical when compared to other subs given its a SPL sub!
Thanks for replying I’ll figure it out ,right now I’m dealing with my truck not charging.changed out the alternator and fuses and still nothing anyways take care
That amp was on fire for sure. I’m definitely keeping a fire extinguisher in my car now. Too bad the am blew. I really want to see what that sub can do.
That SMARTS. Haha. I can see it on fire inside the fan. Looking to see the teardown on that amp to see what frizzle frapped. What was the resistance factor
Hey Parker you Smoked that thang like a Texan Bbq Wow, I love your channel and what you do. Listen there are always going to be haters in this world no matter what you do buddy, But you do you and keep up the great work cause you are great and your Subscribers and fellow bass heads Love You and if it means watching a skit or commercial so be it.
Good grief welcome to the bbq man that sucks. I already know you come back even harder plus you have a wall full of back up amps everything will be ok glad you weren’t hurt at all bro💪
For something this insane, id say the spider needs to be sewn in and glued. P.S. So sorry about your amp! We were looking forward to more videos with it!!!
@@ParkerTheBasshead sucks about the amp man. Damn, I see though the risk of full bridge amps vs Korean half bridge cause when I was wired at 1 ohm id go from 0 to wide open and be great. A good solid 20k half bridge would be able to take more abuse than a full bridge Parker. You're sponsored by Alphard which makes an awesome 20k and I know a few bass competitors who run them and love them. Them Korean amps will always take the abuse a Brazilian full bridge can't. And I bet you would have popped a 150 on a half bridge too.
It wouldn’t be louder, but most likely tougher. Still, Alphard has a lot of refurbished amps for sale which is evidence that the same thing happens to their amps.
They both are equally matched when it comes to failures fully bridge or half bridge it really comes down to build quality of either. People don't do enough research on how full bridge amplifiers produce it's power and try to extract all of it's capability and don't allow enough head room
the failure point was the sub. so no, it wouldnt have been any louder. the sub still wouldve blown. as far as i know, half bridge amps dont like having their speaker terminals shorted either.
Love your videos bro, that sub is ridiculous lol. Honestly its kind of unusable if it wont stay together to play lol. Crazy on the amp fire, are they known for that? What happened to your big ole Tar?
I fully agree with you, on this being a useless subwoofer. It is highly impractical, and just not well thought out. With not enough spider diameter, and it being an 8 layer spider, it is just way to stiff of a spider. Its limited travel is causing the coil to saturate more easily and get hotter quicker. Also, with that stiff as hell 8 layer spider, that limited travel is going to pull it from the landing on the basket every time, when under decent power loads, and excursion. It needs a bolt down spider clamp, and a basket with a larger spider landing. Parker said you buy this, to say you have one, but you don't buy a super car or sports car, to have it sit in the garage, and post pics of it and show everyone you have one. I just don't trust that particular basket, holding that much weight inverted especially. But it's a cool sub to look at I suppose. 👍
So much for the marts 13.5k thanks was looking into buying one. Was able to handle between 2k and 3k. That thing couldn't handle between 3.5k to 4.5k shitty amplifiers that ain't 13.5k when clearly only did what it did in that testing this cat did.
