This song is a message to all mankind. We need to all work together to be better, to stop the descent into madness and self destruction. I hope we can all come together and find peace with each other before things go too far. All it takes is small acts of kindness and respect towards each other whenever the opportunity presents itself, it doesn't have to be huge things. Just do something to make things better for someone else in any way, no matter how small.

Masterpiece. My song on the way to heaven.
    Descending"
    Free fall through our midnight
This epilogue of our own fable
    Heedless in our slumber
Floating nescient we free fall through this boundlessness
This madness of our own making
    Falling isn't flying
    Floating isn't infinite
    Come our end suddenly
    All hail our lethargy
    Concede suddenly

    We mitigate the ruin
Calling all to arms and order
    Drifting through this boundlessness
This madness of our own making

The opening is a soundscape of a soldier in thought at the beach. The words/ideas " reveille" "Come, our end, suddenly (suicide)" "Mobilize" "Call us all to arms and order" - All terms for soldiers.

I love that you're reacting to this. It's not a hit nor a single, and it's quite long especially for a reaction video, but damn if it isn't one of my favorite songs by them. Maynard's voice is so pure in this song. The music is like a cascade of sound washing over you, and sweeping you away to where only music and dreams can take you.

The first time I heard this song I was having trouble with my marriage and I took the context of the lyrics to be about a relationship that was "decending". I know the popular belief is that its about what we are doing to ourselves and the earth but music is so subjective I'll always take the meaning of this song as a failing relationship. Beautiful.

Still is today. It isn't even a complicated riff in terms of Tool, but man I just love it so much for some reason.

Paul Cooper underrated? are you kidding? He’s already considered (and has been for awhile) one of the GOATs by the entire rock drumming community. He’s been on the cover of every drum magazine multiple times across 3 different decades and won countless awards and polls in all of them as voted by readers, his peers, and industry people. To say he is underrated is not an accurate statement. He’s consistently rated as one of the best currently and of all time.

Hope you can experience a Tool show my man. Keep em coming. Blessings your way. BTW, ever think of doing some reggae reactions?
