Hello? Is this or the odyssey g70 (28 inch 4K 144hz) better for someone both using a gaming PC and new M1 pro? Or should I save my money, keep my 1440p 144 HZ (LG Gl83A) and just get a secondary 4K 60 hz monitor for creative work?
That's a great question. You might look at something that is a bit more color accurate if you are doing any photo or video work. ViewSonic has fantastic displays for that. Otherwise if you don't then you will probably be happy with the G70A or this over a 1440p monitor. They are color accurate enough for most every day work. Here is a link to the video on the G70A: ruclips.net/video/EpRtj-fkhec/видео.html

I have decided to get the samsung odyssey 28” g7 2021 version for $649 black friday deal. There was just way too many choices LOL. Are you doing a review on that one?
What! That is $649!!! I am getting my price adjusted. I'm testing it out right now, so I don't know how it stacks up quite yet. But so far I'm happy and the aesthetics are amazing.
I just bought the Acer Nitro XV322QK for $520 USD. It’s easily 4x more expensive than my previous 60hz BENQ monitor I bought 6 years ago, and it hurt a little to pull the trigger. But, I *believe* I got a good deal and I’m hoping it’ll be worth it for gaming on my PS5. I appreciated your review as it made me feel a little better about my purchase, knowing that it should offer a very noticeable improvement.
Same here, just got it delivered! I would like to spend good words but apparently it's faulty, the speaker makes very annoying and loud white noises. I've tried different cables, different sources (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, DP) but nothing. I'm gonna return it. F**k me.
It is for sure a fantastic monitor. It can be a bit on the darker side for brightness, but motion, color and so on are all top notch. Each manufacturer has their fair share of QC problems. So I can only chalk the white noise up to a bad connection inside the monitor. That is why I always use an external speaker though, monitor speakers are never that great.
@@BainCustom Yeah, I've just asked for a new replacement (at 480 EUR it's a great deal). Unfortunately, the sound issue was very annoying, the only way to put a stop to it was to mute the monitor. I've tried connecting my laptop via type-c and then manually setting the audio output to my laptop and the noise was there, I've also tried to use my Xbox wireless headphones (with xbox audio muted as a result) but the noise kept on going. In the end, I wasn't planning on using the monitor's speakers, but for 500 EUR (which is already heavily discounted) I couldn't bear the idea of having forcibly to mute the audio to avoid this fault. BTW agree with everything else, it's a great monitor (maybe not worth 700/800 EUR in 2022 anymore), but it's a great deal with current prices!

Deciding between AOC U28G2XU/BK 28", Gigabyte M32U, and this Acer Nitro. Which one would you choose and why? The Gigabyte M32U is more expensive than the other two currently in Sweden so bear that in mind. I will use the monitor mostly for console gaming but also some PC and work
Oh fantastic question! Because you use multiple systems and the price of the M32U is higher, I would absolutely tell you to go with the Nitro (or AOC). I say that because the Acer Nitro has an edge in color. On paper it doesn't say so, but in real world usage it did for me. I have a comparison video coming out. I will just say the Acer took the slight edge on most factors for me, but I didn't like the price to performance vs the M28U. But you don't have that problem.
@@BainCustom Thanks for the input and I agree, the price difference is 200 $ to the Gigabyte and that isnt justifiable for me. What would you say is the differences between the Acer Nitro and the AoC? They are currently the exact same price here in Sweden during black friday atm.
11-23-2023 I pulled the trigger at Amazon on a Acer Nitro XV322QK. For early Black Friday Deal. for $399.99. That is the best 4k that I could afford. It is similar to the one you are reviewing. This 32" monitor I am hoping to get what I got out of my 32" 1440P 75HZ monitor. It did the 60 FPS fine. This ACER should double that FPS.
Stuck between pulling the trigger on this or just getting a tv for my boyfriend. He wants to use it for his series X. Any input? I just wanna get whatever works best with series x but also would prefer not to spend over 700 HAHA
Yeah it's hard to find a TV under $700 that will perform anything like a gaming monitor. My two cents, I would get him this or a monitor like this. Unless he is a very casual gamer, somebody who like to kick back and play racing or story based games. If he plays apex, warzone or valorant...then something like this all the way!
Just bought this on sale with Amazon and plan on using it exclusively for XBX. It said the aspect ratio was 21:9. To my understanding the XBX optimal ratio is 16:9.. is this true and will this mean my image will be stretched on the XBX?
Just bought this monitor on black Friday, for 499$, and I live in Sweden where everything is expensive. It will arrive on Monday, so cant yet say my thoughts on it. However, you got this very good review that can explain it better than me.
@@BainCustom Hi, funny thing I actually returned the display because I felt it was to plastic for my taste. Instead I made some more research and settle for the Acer predator XB323QKNV, and I know you don't get the most for the money, however, I really like this monitor its a all arounder. I got the monitor for 699$ and it usually cost around 900$. I didn't like the stand on the monitor in this review, and a arm would cost near 100$, so it made more sense to go for a slight better display and at the same time get a better stand as well larger screen size. The display I currently have is really good, no blooming, black to white pixel response 3-4 ms and grey to grey 0.5 -1 ms, wider dci-p3 colour gamut(98%), better calibration out of the box, ambilight behind the monitor which can be set at 6500k Kelvin. Plus it can respond to what happens on the screen. The only downside, no full array local dimming, and no HDR 1000. However, I wont spend more than what my tv cost to get a monitor with HDR 1000 certification.
Just ordered this to use for ps5, picked it up for 599 CAD (450 USD) so i think i got a great deal, just wondering, i didn't really pick up on the detail as to why you said to get the M28U over this one for console? the M28U is about 100 more than what i picked this one up for. Do they work the same on PS5, any word on if VRR is supported here with the console?
At the time I made the video, this monitor was about $300 USD more than the M28U. So it didn't seem it was worth the extra $$ at the time. It has since come down and I think a compelling buy vs the M28U. Especially in your case.
@@BainCustom Do you think its worth it to pay a couple hundred more to get this VS the 1080p benQ? is VRR worth it to have on PS5? thanks by the way for getting back to me a few times, you're content has really helped me through choosing a monitor.
I changed the settings quite a bit during the gameplay and testing. Most I dial in color, black level, gamma and motion settings first. I leave those be, then I will adjust brightness and contrast to preference during game.
@@BainCustom I recently bought the monitor for XSX, I do find the HDR setting looks great but it can be very bright at times, some menus in games are so bright they are almost washed out... as soon as I turn on the HDR setting my Brightness is automatically at 100 and It is locked at 100. Any advice?? Because I find If I turn HDR off I can adjust Brightness but then the picture looks considerably worse without HDR. Thanks in advance
if looking at the XV282K KV -- Part: UM.PX2AA.V03 ... I see very little. The XB is a predator model, not sure the marketing behind that... has DP version 1.4 instead of 1.2 but I don't know if that makes any difference here.
Yeah, thanks. After owning it for awhile, I have used it with both my 3080ti i912900k , and my series x. I have a question that isn’t in your description, though. Do you recommend allow YCC 4:2:2 or not ? And what color depth would you recommend? I’d appreciate it if you could help!
Love the vids bro. Also I have been looking for a monitor for my xbox series X for a while now, What one would you recommend one to me. I was looking at the Asus TUF VG32 But is there a better option than that one?
Glad you like the videos for sure. I think the VG32 is extremely solid for console. I need to make a video listing my top picks in 1440p for console. It's hard to keep track. I would have to say 4k is the only area it gets better, you can't go wrong with the VG32.
I have the acer predator 31.5’ 4k 120hz hdmi 2.1 monitor and an Xbox series x. I was wondering about three settings and their affect on input lag. I’m trying to get the best setting for fps games. Should hdr stay off? With it on I can only have adaptive sync on. This greys out vrb and overdrive. Should I have VRB on extreme and overdrive on extreme? Or VRB on normal and overdrive on normal?
Can you have VRB and extreme overdrive at the same time? Sorry I am not in front of the monitor. for 120hz, I liked the fast setting best, but extreme does come in handy over 120hz. It is tough, because the response rate was good either way. But keep VRB off in my opinion. I have noticed smearing with it on other monitors and don't like the flicker here.
This monitor is currently at £400 in the UK. Which is only £8 more expensive than the M32Q which everyone recommends at that price point. Which would be a better option Paired with a Series X?
Can you tell me about the game modes? VRB settings? Overdrive settings? I have an Xbox series X and I wonder if having hdr set to auto also creates input lag? I’d like the lowest input lag possible. I bought the 31.5" Predator XB3 Gaming Monitor - XB323QK NVBMIIPRUZX and I need help understanding
Hey Josiah. I appreciate all of the questions. I encourage you to subscribe to the channel so you can watch my content for regularly and see the other videos related to this one. That is a long list of questions and I would love to give it all in a comment, but that is not exactly what I do. I talk about input lag here ruclips.net/video/SGhLFOKY0_4/видео.html . Input lag depends on your hardware and arguably your frame rate, but it's not really a software/settings button that goes from low to high. Watch the video above check the video description here for settings, calibration and more information.
It is a good monitor 100%. Not my top pick for multi purpose use. I have videos on the M28U and the G70A that I like a bit better. But it stacks up well against them and is a good buy.
There is a good chance that is firmware related. That being said I have had that happen with other monitors in the past. Sometimes it is as simple as the HDMI connection being bad. But it could be a number of issues, with the software update being probably the most likely.
I'm between this one and m24u. It's for gaming and programming. I found today Acer is a bit less expensive than the m28u but ignoring the price fact, do you still recommend the m24u over the XV282K? I'm asking this question because perhaps you found a different configuration or a firmware update that improved results. My concern is the ghosting and blurring. Also looks like the XV282K has 65w usb c power delivery vs 15w for the m24u but for an m1 macbook 15w should be "ok".
@@JesusICS I ended up buying the M28U, I'm using it with my M1 Macbook PRO 16", since it is an apple silicon, the power consumption is very low so you can use only one cable as power supply, audio/video output, and also using the USB ports from the display as usb hub, so my logitech pro x superlight dongle is plugged to it. There is another data cable that goes to my windows computer, so by pressing the KVM button I can switch very easily from the windows PC to the macbook. Regarding to the screen nits with the firmware update and ghosting...I couldn't find any issue, I mean...it's ALL we need, I'm using only one cable and that does everything. Make sure the thunderbolt cable is the one with 40gbps, not 20gbps, AND also the USB C compatibility (display option) is turned OFF, very important, otherwise you won't be able to run 4k 144hz in your macbook. Regarding to a windows PC, use the displayport 8k cable that comes with the display. If you cannot run 4k 144hz with that cable, could be because your videocard does not support DSC (display port compression technology) I had a vega 56 and did not suport that, so I had to upgrade my videocard as well 🤷♂. If you're using a non m1 laptop that consumes more energy, the M28U with the thunderbolt cable won't be good enough as the only power supply source. It's just 15watts, works for my use case but if you're using the full bright and maybe stressig the CPU (I can't imagine how to do that with the m1 pro) maybe you should consider another alternative. If you need any clarification, I'm here to help. Good luck!
@@sstawecki the Gigabyte does not charge it really. It only runs at 15W whereas the Acer runs at 65W. The Gigabyte will pretty much just slow charge or maintain during sleep or run off battery which is strong enough to handle a lot. 15W would be like trying to use their 20W adapters (usually now for their phones and iPads), but weaker, to charge a laptop. The included MagSafe I believe is 100W. Either way, the battery is incredible in it and requires very little thought. I love MagSafe but also want to keep ports. Using HDMI 2.1 and MagSafe keeps open 3 USB-4/TB spots open. Back up drive, Arturia synth, and audio interface (everything else BT)
@@tigermilk96 it depends on the device's power consumotion, that's why I mentioned in my case, I'm no lomger using the macbook charger, if I'm performing heavy tasks, 15w is not enought, but most of the time seems to be ok. For gaming laptops or anything that is not apple silicon the m28u won't charge the device.

@@BainCustom Yes USB-C to USB-C, having a Razor Blade gaming laptop and asking me, if the Display-alter modus via usb-c supports g-sync. thx in advance.
I did a nice video about it. But the recap...they both are solid and great with color. The acer was way more expensive at time of launch which deterred me from recommending it. But now that is has gone down, it is a close competitor.
i watched this review after seeing a used one for 640$ and decided to take it and upgrade from my 60hz 1080p, and honestly I just want to feel like I made the right choice. (I have just picked it up)
Oh absolutely. For that price I would be extremely happy. The full list price...it's a but to choke down, although still fantastic. Good gaming and thanks for watching!
Bought one of these, was so hyped when it got delivered but sadly it just wouldn't turn on. It seemed to receive no power...tried 4 different sockets but no luck. Anyone else had this issue before? This was the first time in my life that a new monitor just wouldn't turn on...
Same here, although the speakers are making loud white noise with different inputs (even when I've my XBOX wireless headphones connected, or DP with laptop audio set NOT on the display).
That is rough. Yeah QC seems to be a recent failure point for this monitor. I hope you swapped it for a new one or something better before the return period ended.
My personal opinion is that it has a better price to performance ratio than the XV282K. The calibration capability is better, slightly lower color performance, slightly lower input lag and similar performance otherwise. The Acer is a better monitor, but price wise the Gigabyte is a better deal for the performance. That is my take anyway.
Just got an open box from Best Buy. Said they certified it but praying no dead pixels and if I do I hope it comes before the 30 day return warranty because I did not want to pay an extra 120 bucks for the 2 year thing. I feel cheap doing so but already pushing the budget.
@@JesusICS nice! Just got the acer and OF COURSE it has a dead pixel.. wtf. How is it possible for so many units to have dead pixels.. especially for a top of the line monitor…
I just got this monitor in but after all day use I can tell you I like my old one. Idek what it is and I tried everything but I don’t like the picture quality at all from it. My old monitor was the Samsung u-e590d and I thought the picture quality was night and day but the acer was like $300 more. Idk maybe I can’t get the right settings but it just looks alright. The white bleeding is terrible on it too.
I can see that. You moved from a monitor that is not really a full gaming monitor, focused on color performance, to a gaming monitor that focuses more on high refresh rate and hdmi 2.1 compatibility. I don't know the full spec of the previous monitor, but while it may lack in motion and features, it makes up for in picture quality. But that picture quality may go out the window depending on the games that you play. I can totally see what you are saying though.
Very informative video, there's a lot to like here from Acer on this one...Except the comparitive value 😬 But it'll be interesting to see how the G70 stacks up!
I don't prefer it. But some people do. It provides good results, but the strobing (a form of black frame insertion) can be jarring imo. But to each their own, maybe I'll run it for a month straight and see how I feel after.
Hello again, is there a way to power up my monitor when i turn on my Ps5 . I have the Ps5 settings to on. Use to work on my outdated sceptre but not on this.
Hey man! I’m not too sure if you’ll see this but I’ll go ahead and ask my question anyways. I’ve recently purchased the Xbox Series X and I’m looking to optimize my gaming experience to the max. Originally I was planning on purchasing a 2k 144hz HDR monitor to go along side with my XSX. My understanding of the XSX is that it can achieve 4k HDR 60fps+ so I was under the impression that I could achieve 2k HDR 120FPS easily. The problem is tho, that the more I read and do research on and about the series X ,the more I’m confused with its capabilities. Will games on XSX support 2k 120fps? What about 1440p HDR? Is it worth just buying a 4k monitor and playing 60+fps at this point? Fundamentally, I’m FPS>Resolution and would love to find the perfect balance for Series X gaming. I would appreciate any feedback and would love to hear your personal opinion on which route to go. Thanks for the time man, and keep up the work!
Yes, the XBSX will support 1440p at 120 fps. You stated “FPS>Resolution”….that said, your best bet is to find a monitor that is 27inch, 1440p 144hz. Most games right now that are focused on 4k res, are targeting 30fps. (Elden Ring for example) So forking out a premium price for 4k high refresh panels (that imo are still very premature) is just not worth it yet. I digress….there is so much to answer with your question, so as not to break RUclips’s character limit world record lol, I’ll answer in short….. If 27inch gaming is what you want, look no further than the MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD. If you want 4k HDR….Do what everyone else in the gaming world is doing, and wait until LG makes their C1/OLED next year at 42 inch. ;).
I do appreciate the above comment. Everybody approaches this issue a bit differently. That said, most of the games I play are optimized for 4k and 120hz. Mainly because I play other games on PC so I can take advantage of the graphics, multitasking and higher frame rates. Because of that I choose either a high quality 1440p monitor or one of the HDMI 2.1 4k monitor options. The only downside to 1440p 120hz for the XSX is that some games are poorly optimized for HDR and/120hz. So you will either revert to 1080p 120hz HDR, downscaled 4k 60hz HDR or poor quality 1440p 120hz. Like the above comment says, you might be better off with a 48C1, but I could make a good argument for the Gigabyte M28U because price. Although the G70A is on sale right now too.
Does it stay black or does it go black and then show the signal after a little bit? Most monitors switch to HDR and go black for a few seconds. But it shouldn't be longer than a few seconds.

Hey man, nice video.
I really need some help here, I’m wondering if the HDMI 2.1 supports VRR / AMD fee sync. Or is just the DP supporting that ? Thx for the answer
Was it the VA or IPS panel?
Just pickup a refurbished unit from Acer for $350, im so excited 🙌
I also recently bought this I believe monitor is 16:9
That is saying it can do the aspect ratio of wide screen. Extra selling point for them, but it is 16:9 natively.
Just bought this monitor on black Friday, for 499$, and I live in Sweden where everything is expensive. It will arrive on Monday, so cant yet say my thoughts on it. However, you got this very good review that can explain it better than me.
That isn't terrible given how expensive it could have been. I hope it has met all your needs and expectations.

Are the preferred settings any different with Xbox? Tips for best recommendation for series x and this monitor
Thanks in advance
what is the difference between this monitor ( XV282K ) and XB283K?
is that only GSync vs Freesync?
same panel?
same motion/ghosting?
if looking at the XV282K KV -- Part: UM.PX2AA.V03 ... I see very little. The XB is a predator model, not sure the marketing behind that... has DP version 1.4 instead of 1.2 but I don't know if that makes any difference here.
oh, XB283K KV predator models have RGB lighting on the back of the panel.
Just picked out up for £280!! Anyone have any tips for how to make it look it’s best? I’m on series x
Coming from one of your other comparison videos. Awesome review, man !
Nice! You followed the trail 😂
Glad you liked the vid though and welcome to the channel!
@@BainCustom Thanks for the reply. Would you say it is better than the Artymis 323CQR because i see you had reviewed that one more recently? Thanks
@@BainCustom what about adaptive sync? Should that be on?
This monitor is currently at £400 in the UK. Which is only £8 more expensive than the M32Q which everyone recommends at that price point. Which would be a better option Paired with a Series X?
Definitely the Acer. It has HDMI 2.1 and almost full compatibility with the console. I would definitely get the acer at that price point. GG's
So I run a pc with a 3060ti and have a ps5 and series x would this monitor work good for all 3?
It is a good monitor 100%. Not my top pick for multi purpose use. I have videos on the M28U and the G70A that I like a bit better. But it stacks up well against them and is a good buy.
Hi, can I record 4k hdr 120hz with a monitor doesn't support any of that? The console is ps5
Uh, technically yes. But you wouldn't want to because it is just going to expand the resolution to 4K from whatever it is showing on the screen.
Can get this in UK for £399 or I can get m28u for £450, which would you recommend?? Thanks!!
Also do both monitors have a kvm switch??
Purchased this monitor and love the colours! I was just wondering if the bottom bezel on anyone else’s display was a little flimsy?
Sounds like you made a good choice. Did you get the KVM working? I don't know if it is as full featured as the Gigabyte version. Lmk.
Does this screen not support VRR? But it has hdmi 2.1!!
isn't your camera just shuttering over two frames to create motion blur that isn't there?
Is this basically the same thing as the xb283k?
Samsung g70 s28 or acer nitro xv28🤔both have same specifications but confusing because they will not perform same I belive
I have this and still gotta do the firmware, update… it’s going black and stuck on the black screen when it auto switching from 60-120
There is a good chance that is firmware related. That being said I have had that happen with other monitors in the past. Sometimes it is as simple as the HDMI connection being bad. But it could be a number of issues, with the software update being probably the most likely.
How would I do the firmware update if I am on ps5? Do I have to hook it up to a PC? Or is it done right through the monitor? Thanks in advanced!
Would you recommend the monitor for the Xbox Series S?
ruclips.net/video/SGhLFOKY0_4/видео.html
Here is my review for console. The only thing I would change is the price to performance because the price has dropped since making this video.
Also looks like the XV282K has 65w usb c power delivery vs 15w for the m24u but for an m1 macbook 15w should be "ok".
what did you end buying? im in the same needs

Once I try your settings for hdr, it changes to hdr mode cancelling all other settings
Correct. I left all settings as they are listed and switched to HDR.

Oh for sure. that is a much better deal than $899 and puts it in the playing field with Gigabyte, LG and Samsung.
i watched this review after seeing a used one for 640$ and decided to take it and upgrade from my 60hz 1080p, and honestly I just want to feel like I made the right choice.
1 year later... Worth it for $400 at my local PC store? Debating is 28 or 32 inch...just $50 difference,
If you got the 28 inch let me know how you like it and what you don’t like about it
Hi! I don't understand why M28U is better for PS5 then this?
My personal opinion is that it has a better price to performance ratio than the XV282K. The calibration capability is better, slightly lower color performance, slightly lower input lag and similar performance otherwise. The Acer is a better monitor, but price wise the Gigabyte is a better deal for the performance. That is my take anyway.
Looks beautiful. Menus suck. I had dead pixels 2nd day and returned. Will try M28u instead

Hey, how was it, do you get the right settings?
Very informative video, there's a lot to like here from Acer on this one...Except the comparitive value 😬 But it'll be interesting to see how the G70 stacks up!
Can't wait to get in depth with that monitor! It's stacking up to be really solid.
What about VRB?
I don't prefer it. But some people do. It provides good results, but the strobing (a form of black frame insertion) can be jarring imo. But to each their own, maybe I'll run it for a month straight and see how I feel after.
Hello again, is there a way to power up my monitor when i turn on my Ps5 . I have the Ps5 settings to on. Use to work on my outdated sceptre but not on this.

It would be nice! This monitor has room to grow in size with it's good lighting panel and obviously the 4k resolution.
This monitor keep giving me black screen tbh on the ps5 when I turn it on
Does it stay black or does it go black and then show the signal after a little bit? Most monitors switch to HDR and go black for a few seconds. But it shouldn't be longer than a few seconds.
