    I personally have the standard Pixel 7 and enjoy using it. I have had the phone for about a month, and for some context have previously had woes with Android devices. I had an S22 Ultra earlier in the year that had nothing but problems, and thankfully I was able to return it. Since my previous phone, an iPhone 11, was having modem issues with dropping signal on both iOS 15 & 16, and with a good Black Friday deal, I traded in my iPhone 11 and got the Pixel 7 for somewhere around $20. So, what has the experience been after a month? Honestly, nearly flawless. Despite having the base Pixel 7, it seems to produce much more consistent and accurate pictures than the S22 Ultra, especially when taking pictures in lower light scenarios. The display is excellent, despite "only" being 90hz and 1080p compared to the 120hz and 1440p of the S22 Ultra. Both phones, Samsung and Google, kill the iPhone they sought to replace which had a 720p (ish) LCD panel. Battery life on the Google Pixel is far superior to both the iPhone and Samsung I had, with those each getting about 5 hours of screen time and the Pixel around 9 hours for me, not in battery saver at all. Software wise, the Pixel is hands down the best. My iPhone was starting to be a glitchy mess as was the Samsung presumably because both got hotter than I thought would be expected. To be fair, my iPhone was three years old; old battery, worn heatsync and degraded thermal paste (I think phones use thermal compound of some sort). So, I would highly recommend the Pixel 7. It's honestly a smarter phone than the others I've used. Routines are helpful, the dictation is great, and the voice assistant actually works for me. I will say, however, that the modem on the Pixel has been spotty at times, though Google has said they are working on fixing it and others have stated Google is replacing phones that have modem issues. So, I'm not very worried about it. Anyway, I apologize for the long read, but I hope this helps someone in making a purchasing decision. The Pixel 7 competes with the S22 Ultra in my eyes for half the price while also being a more pleasant phone; just inferior in benchmarks.

      @@ratukamina I am very sorry to hear that. And honestly, I am considering trading in my Pixel 7 to get an iPhone 14 Pro or S23 Ultra. I'll have to see what comes to pass with the modem. I have a feeling, or at least hope, that Google can fix it with software.

    Awesome comparison. What I've noticed also is that the pixels have much better pictures than all the other brands. I came Here to see about the pixel 7. Everybody, even professional photographers, tell me how good my pictures look and ask what kind of camera I use. They are amazed when I tell them it is a pixel 3. Same when I had a pixel 2. I have a pixel 7 pro and fold 4 on order as I’m going off my old Samsung s21 ultra due to it being a buggy mess. I like the idea of the pixel phone as it’s cheap and cheerful and sounds like it packs a punch. But I feel I’ll be keeping the fold 4 as it’s a more fun around phone with a major difference. 12:35 This is my only complaint with the Google Pixel. I'm very OCD about my customization (why I'm not an iPhone user), and it makes no sense to have the At a Glance forced on us when there is a redundancy of Date/Time widget options.
    But, At a Glance still beats out Samsung bloatware and Apple's proprietary look. However, that doesn't mean Google isn't defeating its freedom niche.
    That said, pretty good review; however, you have quite a few nit-picky points to make - I.e., Google Pixel's inability to access the Samsung Galaxy Store. Come on. I didn't hear you say the same about the iPhone's inability to access the SAMSUNG Galaxy Store or the S22's inability to access the Apple Store.
    There are several such critiques throughout the review, and it isn't very sensible.

      At least on Pixel devices you're able to change the launcher on the phone very easily, if you didn't like various things about the Pixel launcher (but still want the feature set). Lawnchair, Microsoft Launcher and Niagra are all very popular launchers.

      Samsung's ability to have both galaxy store and google playstore is better than having just playstore because some apps like for example fortnite is not available on google playstore that is available in galaxy store having both stores is a better because some apps may not work on playstore alone. I have this one issue that I download a asphalt game form playstore and it won't open once I finished downloading it I even tried uninstalling and then installing it again it just closed every time I open the app but when I tried downloading it on galaxy store it runs perfectly doesn't close the app also there is a lot of apps that is in galaxy store that is not on playstore. Samsung having both means your not missing any of the apps.

    • @fearElohim34
      @fearElohim34 Год назад +1

      @@nathanjuan6042 Sure, but the argument that Pixel can't access the Samsung Store is ridiculous, as it's a proprietary store. No one other than Samsung has access to it and Google shares their store with all.

    • @nathanjuan6042

      @@fearElohim34 Isn't that what comparisons for? Saying features that is not on each others phone? The thing is its a plus for a phone that has additional feature that other phones doesn't have it makes the phone unique from the others having its own identity not just stock which pretty much the same as a lot of phones. Just like iphones being the only ios in the market

    • @fearElohim34
      @fearElohim34 Год назад +3

      @@nathanjuan6042 Saying Pixel doesn't have access to the Galaxy Store is as disingenuous as saying the Samsun Galaxy doesn't have access to the Apple Store or that iPhone users don't have access to the superior Galaxy Store.
      That's all I'm saying. It wasn't mentioned that the sleek customization options in the Galaxy Store aren't only available to iPhone users. In addition, so what if the Pixel doesn't have access to the Galaxy Store? Pixel users have the freedom to switch Launchers. iPhone does not, and that wasn't mentioned as an alternative.
      See the difference?

    The Tensor SoC wasn't made with gaming in mind. It's made to do the AI things Google does best. It plays games decently enough but for the best gaming experience you'll want the Samsung or iPhone. I have a Pixel 6 and it does fine. I've never had any problems with it unlike some others. What people don't know is many were like me and never had problems. This was a good review and I don't pay games all the time but I play them sometimes but I still love my Pixel. The call screening is one of my favorites and Google maps and checking messages while driving by voice. Android auto is nice too. People are way too worried with performance in normal apps in a few years, let me remind you, the top of the line mid range phones of today are about as powerful as the flagships 4 years ago, mid range and low end phones outsell current flagships by a lot in the world, apps need to be optimized at least for mid range phones, and most are optimized for low end phones, meaning in 4 years the pixel will run every single app no problem, like every flagship and most mid range phones from the last 5 years can run today's apps, games are different, but the major problem is heat not raw power, and let me tell you the iPhone 8 or XR or 11 get as hot as a toaster playing genshin impact, so it doesn't matter, all phones will suck equally after 5 minutes of playing with the heaviest games in 5 years.

    I liked the video, but I believe your performance segment was very inaccurate and honestly out of context, specially when talking about gaming and "app performance" because nowadays, for SoC's like Tensor or Apple's, benchmarking is mostly vague data that almost never translates to real day to day usage impact. I drive the P7P and the i14PM and they both offer the same experience on demanding games and general app performance, so maybe next time a bit more context could be better for this segment. Keep up the great work tho!

      True and some other inaccurate things in her review were about the back tap feature. It has nothing to do with the logos on the back of the phone. It's just using the accelerometer and gyroscopic sensors in the phone to detect a back tap.

      Exactly. She used synthetic benchmarks to try to prove her point when she should be running games to show the fps difference if she thinks the Pixel is weaker for gaming. If the Pixel 7 even performs anywhere near the Snapdragon 855 and 865, it will be very good for demanding games. Those socs still run modern demanding titles very well.

    I just recently got the 7 Pro and I have to say, you absolutely don't notice the "lack" of GPU performance. I previously rocked the amazing S21 Ultra and I have to say, you won't even notice any performance drops in gaming, even in extended game session while playing Wild Rift or Genshin. I would say that the iPhone definitely feels smoother from what I've seen, but you'll get the same experience as with the other android flagship devices. Great review though, KIU!

      @@Involvement82 Having used this phone since release - the processor may be lacking in raw performance but in real world usage, I've yet to run into any issues the previous pixel phones ran into and can very much keep up with other flagship phones. You get what you pay for, and it being several hundred dollars cheaper than the other options, I'd say it makes the other flagship processors look bad if something like this can keep up in everyday usage.

Both phones feel equally snappy and handle tasks near identically. The Tensor chip is also superior when it comes to certain AI processing tasks such as NLP, which is why things like speech detection are far more accurate and faster on the Pixels, so it depends. Focusing solely on raw benchmark numbers for phones at this point is pointless.

    I think you have done a good job overall. I want to point out one thing that is worth mentioning. Google's tensor processor was never meant to be the fastest and most efficient processor. it is made to be the world's smartest processor and to support tasks that need a lot from AI. It is the whole point of Pixel, to be the smartest phone in the market.

    Just curious with the reference to skin tone reproduction, it's something Google have actually touted quite a bit with their "Real Tone" processing. Obviously your skin tone can change a lot in real life based on the lighting conditions, so did you find that the Samsung got closer to real life or closer to sort of studio lighting conditions?
    You would expect more blue light/cast in the example photos you used given the lighting conditions, so the reproduction on the iPhone and pixel seemed more realistic than the warmer results on the samsung (though the iPhone skewed far too green in one) , even if the Samsung matches closer to how you look in a well lit scene like this video.
    And also I hope none of this caused offence, as discussing skin tone can often be a touchy subject.

    If you are really into customizing lock screen and launcher, you can download 3rd party apps to do that. It's been a long time since android had that flexibility, it's only a new feature for iOS. TBH it's not that popular of a feature. In case iOS made it popular, I believe there will be plenty of competing 3rd party apps that do better. You always have more control with android. It was the locked down ecosystem that people enjoyed in iOS, so Google probably didn't invest too much into existing customization features already offered by 3rd party apps.

    There is a design flaw where thousands of people are reporting that the back glass is shattering either due to the aluminum from contracting and compressing in cold and hot weather or something else is happening. This problem is on the consumer as Google is turning a blind eye to it. Even if you do fix it for $200 then you will just keep needing to replace it everytime it breaks

While i will get quite cheaper compared to INR, but I'm stuck between Pixel 7pro and 14pro. Photography is my priority, usually i use Adobe lightroom and free .xmp presets, just wonder if i take 14pro, will i be able to use those .xmp presets for editing or not?
    Am getting Pixel at $849 for 256gb variant and iPhone 14pro at $1099 for 256gb variant. Heres my 2nd que, in terms of durability, after sale service and resale value, is it really worth spending the extra $250 ? Need an honest opinion.

    Sad thing is, despite really being attached to my almost 4 year old Pixel 3a and it only starting to have some hiccups this year but still having a really good battery, I dont think my next phone will be a pixel. I have no complaints on the functionality and UI, nor the performance, but ONE thing burned me from the pixels: ONLY 3 YEARS OF UPDATES. My last security update was in may 2022, phone was only three years old and still runs well! This is stupid and it should still be able to have updates (im on android 12). Meanwhile, the iPhone Xr from one year before the 3a will probably get its last update in mid-late 2023... Thats 5 years of support versus 3.

    There are leaks of the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro getting the Samsung GN2 sensor. It's a 50MP sensor that's almost 1 inch. It doesn't have force binned photos like the GN1 sensor on the 7 and 7 Pro. You should be able to get amazing photos in low light, and very good 50MP photos. Hopefully they will release an update before launch, that will let us switch to the telephoto lens in portrait mode, and let us use the 1x lens without a crop.
