@@DerrickRG every phone I’ve had despite its price Ive rocked a case on it I ain’t taking no chances no matter how careful you try to be sometimes it will just slip out of your hand when taking it out your pocket there is no way you’ll have a phone for two years and not at least a little Scuf on it
One thing to note that I learned years ago doing drop tests, is that while the case does protect the phone from shattering and protects the screen, it does not protect against internal damage such as speakers, camera, battery etc. Those things can still be damaged from the impact as something has to absorb the weight of the fall. Fully recommend leaving the drop test to reviewers if you're considering trying at home.
@@JaneParkerBowls Yup, I'm afraid so...maybe not the capacity of the battery, I imagine it will still hold the same amount of juice, but it can lower the amount of time the battery can stay alive for. To add to that, it can also decrease the performance of the phone overall, not just battery life. The case is there so you don't do external damage, and it will protect against that...internal damage is a different matter.
Im always dropping my phone and thought nothing of it. Well now, outward facing camera doesn't work nor selfie video mode, and it continuously power cycles now.
I also thought I wouldn't use the S Pen all that much when I purchased my first Galaxy Note. Now I won't buy a phone without one. Using the S22 Ultra for an entire month before posting your final review is a more accurate assessment of the S22 Ultra. Thanks for another great video Ella.
Definitely still enjoying mine as my main phone; the inclusion of the 1 TB SDD was the primary selling point for me since it's been what, 3 generations since their first lineups included an actual decent-sized hard drive? The Ultra's incredible CPU, GPU, refresh, screen, S-Pen, and reasonably good battery life(in my experience) make it one of the best flagships I've seen in recent memory.
@@misana77 It's not particularly useful unless you draw, but the Always On Display notes screen is a bit handy. I've been annoyed with the fact that it pops out every time I insert my phone into my GameSir X2 and then take it out(it depresses the button). Oh I also like the ability to take pictures with it by setting the phone away from it and clicking. Good for faraway selfies.
@@misana77 - I use mine for EVERYTHING. Scrolling (I hate screen fingerprint smudges), writing notes, Penup, snapping photos, etc.). It's another level of functionality. You paid a pretty penny for this phone. So, you might as well wring out as much as you can from it. Start using it, you won't stop.
My S22 Ultra is the third phone I've had with an S Pen. I don't exactly use it all the time, but it's one of those things where I'd rather have it in case I need it. It really comes in handy when you need it.
Once you've used an S-Pen, you can't go back to a phone without one. Sure there are phones with a stylus, but still not yet as well integrated as the S-Pen. Having it and using it, you definitely realize how useful it is.
**Potentially unpopular opinion alert** I really wish the Note (now Ultra) line-up had the smaller model option like the Note 10 line up had. I originally thought the smaller Note was pointless (Notes are the all bells & whistles phone after all, so the smaller model with reduced resolution display etc was out of place) & I initially had a Note 10+ & loved it, but it just felt too large in my hand to be comfortable, so I ended up with the smaller Note 10, & it was pretty much the perfect phone for me. I've now ended up on the S22 (& loving this too) but really wish there was still a smaller Note option so I could enjoy the smaller form factor & keep the functionality the s-pen gives. I miss the s-pen, but the S22U is just too big for me.
@@drakthorianakatzaphquiel455 It all depends on a person's use case. Some have a Note phone & don't use the s-pen at all (so having the s-pen taking up so much space in the chassis is pretty pointless), but some people use it daily. I used it to scribble notes to solve maths/physics problems while studying, & sometimes would be using the s-pen for 3-5 hours in a day. I'm probably an extreme example of how much a person uses the pen though.
Legit when I got my Note 8, having basically a Wacom pen display with you all the time, it was what got me into digital sketching and illustration since you could just sketch out your ideas right in the moment. It's not always the best that you use, but the one that you have on hand. Not only did I use it for drawing, but also when using remote desktop applications such as Parsec, it is just fantastic to be able to have a precise input method on the go. No, I do not use the s-pen every day, but when I do use it, I would take a phone with an s-pen over any other phone, no question.
@@drakthorianakatzaphquiel455 Other than drawing some doodles when bored. I also find it useful when taking sudden notes and I just like to use it when browsing through social media. But yeah depends per person.
The integration is definitely a selling point. There are other uses besides drawing and writing. I regularly use the translate and magnify function besides the usual smart select and screen write. Being able to translate texts in other languages on the fly is surprisingly useful. Having the S pen for camera controls is useful, but some features like zoom control feels gimmicky.
I am glad you mentioned the sharp corners. This is was the main reason I gave up my iPad mini. I don't think developers pay close attention to these issues of comfort or discomfort when you hold these devices for hours.
I absolutely love my S22+ Ultra! I am a long time Galaxy user and moved up from a 1TB S10+ which I still use on a daily basis for movie downloads. The S Pen is a great addition and i find myself using it more than i thought i would for drawing and painting apps which function great on this phone. I was once an iPhone user years ago, and have played around with my kids' newest iPhones, but I still always go back happily to my Samsung!
I just love that air command when I pull out the stylus. That is the note signature. And you can take photos with the stylus. It works as a wireless shutter. It's amazing.
I have the s22 ultra, the phone is a blessing in so many ways...coming from a 10+ and iphone before that I do agree that this phone is top notch in the game...
@@Anieckieee I also upgraded from S10+ to S22 Ultra. I was using the s10+ for 3 years and recently upgraded to S22 Ultra. I could tell the differences between both phones. I could see huge upgrade with the camera, speaker and the smoothness of the phone. S22 ultra is just amazing, tbh. I am a gamer and I love to play games on my S22 ultra with its 120Hz. The smoothness of the graphics is just truly amazing although s10+ is also smooth playing games, S22 ultra is just 10x smoother. However, the only issue that I have with S22 Ultra is that it is big and felt like I have a brick in my pocket unlike my S10+ which I can use with one hand and fits in my pocket perfectly. But overall, I could say that the upgrade is worth it. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I own this phone as well and I'm not a mobile gamer so the gos situation hasn't really bothered me. everything else on the phone is great long time Samsung user and I use the s pen a lot for jotting down quick notes as my job requires me sometimes to jot down things. but a lot of people don't know that Samsung makes 80% of iPhones components and up until recently made all the iPhone screens so as far as which phone to choose depends on the ecosystem you want to be in everything is relative nowadays
Samsung's Note8 and Note9 made me leave my iPhone days behind me for good. The straight forward business productivity of the Notes gave me an new edge staying on top of all the things I need to on the go. The companion S Pen plays a huge part in my daily work matters. The Notes just work with my lifestyle perfectly. Another thing I loved about my Notes is the fact the build quality and longivity of the phones excellent. All this said fast forward to November 2022. During ATT's Samsung holiday promotions I took the plunge and traded in my Note9 for the Samsung Ultra in green. Now that I've been rocking it for a few months as my damily driver I cannot say enough good things about it. Well done, Samsung. This said, excellent review Ella. Thx for sharing. Have a great night.
I have seen videos comparing the RAW feature on the Samsung (especially portrait photography) comparing it to $2,000 professional digital cameras. The S22 RAW was obviously not as good as the pro phone, but I (and the pro photographer) was impressed with the fact that the S22 RAW held its own. Bottom line is it all depends who is taking the pictures.
@@silentgrind34 RAW images are uncompressed so all the information your camera sensor sees remains. 4:53 I actually LOVE the way the screen is curved on this phone and I also love how the sides are dimmer, it feels like you're always watching premium content of whatever you re watching lol. I think it looks fantastic and it's one of the reasons I bought one. But each one of us has different preferences, of course.
First review of the ultra that I've seen that as actually gave good reasons about why the curved screen is bad, instead of just hating on it without explaining why. Thank you.
I've bought s22 ultra since around 6 months ago and it's quite perfect The s pen works great and the phone has been exactly the same even after 6 months that I've used. I actually love s23 ultra as well but since it has a little bit smaller display, I love my s22 ultra over s23 ultra BUT I love every Samsung phones and products as well Thanks for reading it and have a good day Stay Positive love you all
About the color gamut of the screen... if you find the colors too saturated just use natural instead of vivid in the display options. It make things pop a bit less but it look more realistic and true to life.
Each one is a corresponding color profile. Both are the most accurate you can get in any phone basically but it depends on what type of content you are looking at whether it be SDR or HDR10+ content. There are 5 types but 3 are hidden by default on S22 series for some weird reason. They're still there and can be set to them but older Samsung devices didn't hide them by default
I have just bought an S22 Ultra. I think it is very good but I am still learning how to use it. Your vidio was very informative, you have now given me plenty of things to try out. I was surprised you did not discuss the sound options and the quality over Bluetooth.
Curved screen. That is the one thing I love most for some reason. It makes everything look closer or maybe a little bit like 3d. I have S21+ and I miss edge display so much, I used to have S10+. I would like to have this display on basic models too.
I hate it because it makes it harder to edit pictures. Also the cases don't protect the phone well since cases on the sides are lower than than the curved screen (on top and bottom it is higher than the screen), so you are more prone to cracked screens than most phones.
@@youtzz I dropped my s9+ from 2 story balcony and it shows zero signs of damage. It did land on medium height carpet but still I was 100% sure it was broken. Curved screens I don't think is the issue.
Finally found someone who loves the curved screen too!! 🥰🥰 I have been staying with my S9+ and not considering changing just becauuse of the curved screen.

I have the S22+ model. Got it 3 days ago and have to say that it's a great phone. I think once a new update comes though it'll be much better; hopefully they'll help to improve the battery performance somehow. I can get at least 7 hours out of it so far. But still room for improvement there.
@@pkfitnesshub couple days ago i disscovered that the culprit that was heating my phone up was the news app section of my homescreen that comes preloaded on your phone. Finally purchased my S22 Ultra today on Amazon, took advantage of their "Renewed" prices for a practically new phone with deep savings. Re-watching video's now so I will know where to start when it arrives. I'm really looking forward to the Optical zoom feature and using the S pen. I had a Note years ago (which I loved) but damaged it in the waters on a beach. Currently own an S20 FE so this is a fun purchase and upgrade from the standard camera. I find I prefer taking my cell to my DSL unless it's a big event or int'l travel.
Great phone but quite large and heavy to carry on a daily basis which changes the definition of mobile for me. Hence after 3 years of curved screen I opted S22+ and it didn't disappointed me
Trying to decide between 22+ and 22 Ultra. Never had a S pen so Im not sure I'd use one. The bulk of the phone scares me. Been a Galaxy fan for years. Appreciate your thoughts🙂
WoW you were at school the last time I’ve seen one of your video. I’d like to say a BIG CONGRATULATION to you , your evolution is really inspiring and the quality keeps evolving . Really congrat
I carry a tablet when at work as it has a keyboard and when I have a meeting it is nice to have a bigger display and the phone can be a secondary device. If you want to be productive, a tablet or laptop is much more efficient and productive, as well as more professional than taking notes on your phone as some may think it is not right to be on your phone in meetings.
I have just replaced my z fold 3 for the s22 ultra , love it , better battery life /lighter and better home screen size than fold 3 ,screen is unbelievable, can't found anything wrong with it, highly recommended .
I'm on the same boat as you. Just ordered my 22 ultra. Have a fold 3 currently and fold 2 previously, but the flaws just kill it for me. Was always a note user prior to the fold series, so going back to a note style will be nice.
I just ordered the s22 ultra yesterday and I'm switching from the fold 3. Only thing I will miss about the fold 3 is the screen size. The battery sucks on the fold
On the notes, which this kind of is now, also allows you to copy text and images using the S-Pen "smart select" on websites and other screens that won't allow it. I use this feature a lot for various reasons. The S-Pen can also be used to take selfies or group photos at a distance by pushing the button on it.
I got this phone and have being using it for two months. It is awesome. However, there are some things that I've noticed almost no reviewer points out: (i) IT IS EXTREMELY SLIPPERY. It will be extremely common that you drop the phone from your pockets unless you use extremely tight pants. Sometimes its even hard to keep it in your hand; and, (ii) the back is very susceptible to scratches.
The curved screen is what makes this phone great! It feels so much easier to grip than the iphone and that alone is a big selling point. It's an underrated feature that goes unnoticed until you switch to a flat screen thicker phone like the iphone which is a nuisance to hold
Same I have a s10 and I hate the curved screen. I would love to upgrade for the s22 series but the curved screen make me hate samsung for that so much! Edit: try to find good screen protector not in cheap plastic for a curved screen
I also love the curved screen. It's more comfortable and feels premium. I had an s8 and was disappointed when I upgraded to the s21+ and found out it lacked the curved screen. People who complain about accidental touches should put on a case.
@@Player-re9mo But what's the point of putting on a case if it's going to cover part of the curved screen? At that point you wouldn't be able to get the benefits of it if its partially covered.
3:05 It IS the best screen currently available on a consumer smartphone device. There is nothing better at this time. If you don't like the color gamut, change the color mode from VIVID which it comes with in default in display settings. 10:25 Expert Raw from the Galaxy Store flips that comparison as many photography channels have pointed out. This is intentionally not pre-installed so as not to overwhelm users who just want to point and shoot with a phone camera.
It is the best at launch but OPPO and others are using exactly the same display now but have tweaked it differently, maybe not so saturated, not so bright (to favour battery) and have better dynamic refresh (going to 1Hz where Samsung cannot achieve less than 24Hz). If Samsung Displays did not sell the best displays to the other OEMs then they would move on. Apple threatened this and recently Samsung went to the US to make sure Apple would stay with them by promising them the best displays. This fallacy that Samsung makes the best display is pure fandom, the reason it is more pleasing is that YT creators use it on the vivid mode which appeals to the teen demographic. Other OEMs make the display more normal.
in terms of resolution the Xperia 1 iii already has a 4k 120hz at 21:9(movie ratio)... only bad thing about sony phone screens is the brightness in direct sunlight, witch is to be 50% brighter in the coming new 1 iv..
Yes it look more premium, i agree. The rest can be burden for some user. But I've been using curved screen since 2017 until my new s22 Ultra today. I love curved screen but somehow i need to spend some extra money for my phone protection in terms of casing and silicone screen protector. The rest is history.
I like my S22 Ultra way more than my last Galaxy (S20+) There's lots to learn about the functionality and user interface especially the pen which I'm enjoying Good work Samsung
Started using the S Pen with the Note 5. Got so hooked up that I never went back to any other phone. Would have hounded Samsung had they discontinued the pen after Note 20😬
I left a comment on your video comparing the iPhone 13 to the s22 ultra asking if you had any videos with a format exactly like this one. Where you review the phone after X months, and sure enough here it is! Thank you for time stamping everything in the description, and clearly outlining the pros and cons.
By far it is a really awesome device.. the s-pen is just lovely an addition. It makes editing and tweaking pictures so easy.. Personally, the best cases for me are either SPIGEN or CASEOLOGY... Great protection. I have been using their products for quite a long while and candidly, they don't let one down. Oo, my newest discovery, though pricey, is the screenprotector.. I once was in love with invisible iQ shield but there is a new heavyweight... solid and topnotch ...
To be honest I can't find one flaw with this display I agree with some of the people's claims that it's the greatest display ever on a smartphone I don't see how you could make a better display as a matter of fact I'm going to go ahead and say it I think this is the Pinnacle of displays and pretty much every year the best phones will just get a display like this I don't know how you could make it any better 1750 nets even if you made it up to 4K I'm not sure it would be any sharper than this
I really don't think anything she called a problem was really a problem especially regarding the screen. I love the curved edge I wouldn't ever want to go flat. The sharp edges aren't sharp for someone who used an iPhone 13 pro cause those phones are the most uncomfortable thing to hold ever
10:12 You mention that Samsung's RAW photos are behind the iPhone because they are a single frame and not a composition. Did you not know Samsung released the Expert RAW camera which shoots RAW images just like the iPhone? Sure it's not baked into the main camera but if someone cares enough to shoot RAW then they would care enough to use the best app for it which is Expert RAW.
Not sure when Samsung made this decision, but the one gripe I have with their S Pen is not only do they no longer come with replacement tips and tip removal tool, the tips are now non-replaceable meaning replacing the S Pen everytime or buying a third party replacement... Not good for reducing e-waste...
There is 2 display modes to choose. The default is Vivid which is quite oversaturated, better switch to Basic mode for more realistic and colour accracy is on point 👌
I have just got rid of my iPhone 14 pro and now have the Samsung s22 ultra, as I really wanted the burgundy colour, and OMG I am in love, this phone is insane! (And it’s not even their current newest phone out) you can do so much on it, I wish I switched sooner, I have been an iPhone user for years but wow this phone pulled me over and I am staying!
You're the only reviewer who has caught that game optimization service error and mentioned it! I don't game on my phones, but if I did, I'd be cancelling my order and getting the S22+ because of your honesty. Thank you!!
Same I tried the normal S22 plus and the more boxy design made it slightly less comfortable to hold. Even though it is technically thinner than my previous S9+ it looked and felt significantly thicker. Went back to the S22 Ultra. For some reason the screen is a lot more vibrant with deeper blacks on both my curved S9+ and S22 Ultra while the flat S22+ looks washed out with green shaded colors to my eye. The S22 Ultra screen looks so much better imo than S22+ even though most people probably won't notice it. I expected a trade off with the Ultra would be that it's hard to hold but I got a high quality case for only $23 and even without it, it feels way better to one hand than the S22+ for me.
I absolutely love your review of the product, I agree with everything you said and learned as well so I really appreciate the video. Unfortunately for me 4 days into using my phone in a game it froze up and on more than one occasion and day. The first time from my previous Samsung phones. And because I couldn't use it right away when I received it I couldn't return it for an exchange. It was directly purchased from Samsung and not a cellular store. I did get directed to a repair store for Samsung and hoping that this is a fixable issue.
@@Mickieshelton curved is overrated imo. Slightly curved is alright. If I'm honest I'd prefer that my screen protector fit fine rather than have a curved screen lol
@@abdussameeash5079 the curved screen was a nice gimmick at 1st, made Samsung phones different and unique. Especially with the edge lighting. @@dhruvagarwal3711 13 pro can beat s22 in video because iphones are usually really good in video quality, especially in low-light conditions. iPhone also has a more consistent camera and less camera lag when taking photos. @@dhruvagarwal3711 I think at the end, it is subjective. I switched from Samsung to apple and I never really missed the pro mode, food mode, and the other kinds of features they have. Great Review Ella. I just ordered two of these phones, For myself and my wife. After watching you here, I'm now super excited to get my hands on one! Thanks so very much!
Atleast those curved screens look beautiful whereas that Notch on my iphone 12 pro was rendered absolutely useless in the pandemic. *Tip:* Samsung's Expert Raw app supports multi-frame raw capture.

She nailed it. My only two complaints i have about mine are the curve edges, and sharp corners. I use it with only one hand and after some time, it actually start to hurt my hand. I too prefer the rounded iPhone design. Other than that , terrific Phone.
Use your pinky to support the phone on the bottom with your right hand. I have note10+, not sure but I think the ultra is heavier. Really don't see any reason to upgrade. 10+ feels very fast after 2,5 years. Screen is damaged though in 1 corner and the back. Only a little bit like 2 mm outside case so it's OK.
Great video! I was wondering what the fuss was about for the GOS. I mean it is very controversial for those who wants absolute maximum power, but for the sake of the integrity of the phone, I'll just let the phone stay optimized. Heat damages battery and I don't want to have to replace the phone, however with as much advance tech is, Samsung should come up with a better way to keep the phones cool. Other than that, I'm rocking my s21 ultra still. Thank you for your videoA
A really good review. You seem to reviewed it in a way that normal consumers, and not tech experts, would. Very useful for non-tech savvy people wishing to know more about S22 Ultra. BTW I love how you watch aespa videos 😂

Great video and review. I must say, I thought the hype around castify was just marketing until I really couldn't find a case I liked for my new S22 and ordered my first case from them. The quality is great, the design I picked is perfect and I feel very confident in the level of protection. I will definitely buy from them again!
I don't find the curved edge a con. There is a function tho, it's for more ergonomic hold/grip. I also find it so classy and appealing. So saying it as a downside is pretty much unfair and it's should be a case of preference.
one thing i hated about this was the edges, too. i bought it together with a silicone case and yes. do not buy the silicone case, it chipped the edge right away when it dropped it (literally two feet from my hand to ground). I love this phone, hate the accessories. their 30 dollar phone case isnt worth it.
I fell in love with my first note my son had the first I got the 2nd 4th 8th and 10 loved all. What I didn't like about the wS the round of the screen cracked so easily. Now I noticed this 22 ultra is the same . We get our safe cases tomorrow covers the round of the screen. This phone better last . We deed a case that can last 20 feet drop. For were my husbad works.
Thank you for showing what your screen on time looks like! I dont see other reviews do that but i stream on youtube, via music, streaming apps, & light light gaming! It was nice seeing!
I like how when you darkened the top and bottom of the screen it did nothing to distract me. if anything it put the subject (you) more in focus. Other than that this was a good review.
Thanks for bringing up the raw performance. Apple ProRaw on my iPhone 13 Pro Max has been a game-changer for me - I used it for all my vacation photos during my last trip, and have also been able to sneak a few shots from my phone into my pro work that I usually just use my Sony a7iii for. The latitude offered in those files is immense. I'd legitimately miss it if I had to go back to the "classic" raw photos from phones. All that aside, while I'm an iPhone guy, this is easily my "if I had to use Android" phone pick.
Would love a Note phone in the form factor as the Surface Duo. I love the idea of foldable displays but...until I cannot damage the screen with my fingernail and plastic, I will always choose a glass display.
After using the Z Fold 3 for almost a year, I had my fun with it. It was a nice gimmick and cool to flex with but practicality I've always been a Note guy.
@@jamesschofield9798 I've done everything in the book, even turned of the 5G so that it only connects to my 4G network and its not really a noticable difference.

The S-Pen was one of the selling points for me with the Note series, even though I don't use it as much as I expected. I now have the S22 Ultra and do not have the pin option when pulling the pen from a locked screen. Need to check my settings. Nice review!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make and post this comprehensive report/review on the *Galaxy S22 ULTRA* ... You did an awesome job covering all the vital points to help make a decision to buy or not to buy...
Thanks for a very informative review. I like seeing your comparative results with other phones which allows viewers to decide what matters to them when selecting a new phone. I'm one of those who found value in S-Pen with my tablet and have been eyeing this for my next phone.
The curved screen is the primary reason I'm seriously considering moving to the iPhone 15 next year. I may stay with Android after I am able to compare the S23 Ultra with the iPhone 15 Ultra in September '23. Excellent overview of the S22.
You completely missed the Complete Zoom Feature. You only went to x10. There's a x30 and x100. When you hit the x10 look below and you'll see the x30 and x100 options. It takes amazing pictures of the moon. Great Video though. I've had the Notes since the Note 1, so I can't live without the SPen.
I have this phone as well as P6P. I find the pictures far better on the Pixel. Samsung needs a software update on this camera, kinda shocked they haven't yet.
Ella, this is one of the most comprehensive, technically informative and interesting phone reviews that I've ever seen! Great job! I am a retired avionics engineer and I'm thinking about buying the S22 Ultra to replace my Samsung Note 8. I also owned the Note 3 previously and both have been excellent phones. I believe that a phone with a stylus has to be viewed as a tool that greatly extends the utility of an ordinary phone for those who want or need the stylus feature. I often draw diagrams, add dimensions, etc. and that sort of use really requires the larger canvas of a phablet. If I really didn't want the enhancement of a stylus-capable phone, I'd opt for something about the size of a regular Galaxy.
People who don’t use cases on their phone are mad brave
my case arrived before my phone 😂
Thank you
Just treat your device like it costs more than $1000. Stop being careless.
@@DerrickRG every phone I’ve had despite its price Ive rocked a case on it I ain’t taking no chances no matter how careful you try to be sometimes it will just slip out of your hand when taking it out your pocket there is no way you’ll have a phone for two years and not at least a little Scuf on it
@@patricksieses53 if phones were just as durable as cars I wouldn’t rock a case that’s for sure 😂
Oh so over time with all my drops of my phone I'm actually damaging the battery capacity?
@@JaneParkerBowls Yup, I'm afraid so...maybe not the capacity of the battery, I imagine it will still hold the same amount of juice, but it can lower the amount of time the battery can stay alive for. To add to that, it can also decrease the performance of the phone overall, not just battery life. The case is there so you don't do external damage, and it will protect against that...internal damage is a different matter.
@@tacob.jhomson omg, I better hold onto my phone harder
Im always dropping my phone and thought nothing of it. Well now, outward facing camera doesn't work nor selfie video mode, and it continuously power cycles now.
I have an otter box on mine and it absorbs every common drop (~3 ft) very well
I also thought I wouldn't use the S Pen all that much when I purchased my first Galaxy Note.
How do you use the S Pen? I barely use mine
Start using it, you won't stop.
can I use an old note 9 stylus pen on this phone?
My S22 Ultra is the third phone I've had with an S Pen. I don't exactly use it all the time, but it's one of those things where I'd rather have it in case I need it. It really comes in handy when you need it.
Does it have dual camera video recording feature on its default camera?
But when it's in a protective case it a non-issue. Much easier to hold as well.
Just mentioning things that are not important. Anyone with a brain would put a case on straight away so the cornets wouldn't matter.
put a case on it ?...

What are the biggest differences to you? I have an S10 and wondering if I should upgrade
Good to know. I have a Note 10+. I'm considering upgrading to the 22 ultra

You need to use Samsung's Expert Raw app to do multi-frame raw. This was on the keynote.
What does raw mean, like what does it do?
@@silentgrind34 RAW images are uncompressed so all the information your camera sensor sees remains. I think it looks fantastic and it's one of the reasons I bought one. But each one of us has different preferences, of course.
First review of the ultra that I've seen that as actually gave good reasons about why the curved screen is bad, instead of just hating on it without explaining why. Thank you.

I'm enjoying mine and my Battery life is Fantastic

Lease agreements, job contracts, note taking during meetings, s pen is super useful

On the notes, which this kind of is now, also allows you to copy text and images using the S-Pen "smart select" on websites and other screens that won't allow it. I use this feature a lot for various reasons. The S-Pen can also be used to take selfies or group photos at a distance by pushing the button on it.
Cool i didn't know that
I got this phone and have being using it for two months.
A case easily takes care of this
I found a treasure recently, it's your channel. Really nice approach how to do things. Thank you!
The curved screen is what makes this phone great! It feels so much easier to grip than the iphone and that alone is a big selling point. It's an underrated feature that goes unnoticed until you switch to a flat screen thicker phone like the iphone which is a nuisance to hold
I agree with her. I hate it, i wish I had a flat phone. I hate that you have to get rolled edges on their better phones
Same I have a s10 and I hate the curved screen. I would love to upgrade for the s22 series but the curved screen make me hate samsung for that so much!
Edit: try to find good screen protector not in cheap plastic for a curved screen
I hate the curved edge on this phone. Holding it on the sides often creates unintentional touches on the screen while scrolling

To be honest I can't find one flaw with this display I agree with some of the people's claims that it's the greatest display ever on a smartphone I don't see how you could make a better display as a matter of fact I'm going to go ahead and say it I think this is the Pinnacle of displays and pretty much every year the best phones will just get a display like this I don't know how you could make it any better 1750 nets even if you made it up to 4K I'm not sure it would be any sharper than this
I actually much prefer the sharper corners. That boxy look is FAR more aesthetically pleasing than rounded corners.
I really don't think anything she called a problem was really a problem especially regarding the screen. I love the curved edge I wouldn't ever want to go flat.
The sharp edges aren't sharp for someone who used an iPhone 13 pro cause those phones are the most uncomfortable thing to hold ever
This is a way better review than any of the day 1 / week 1 reviews out there.

But s22 is little more stabilised compare to iPhone so except for videos in every aspect s22 ultra is better than iPhone 13 pro max
@@dhruvagarwal3711 I think at the end, it is subjective. I switched from Samsung to apple and I never really missed the pro mode, food mode, and the other kinds of features they have. Something I like in iPhone is how you can tune the photos to how you like it in photographic styles (although it does not make a big difference). Overall if you like better video and raw photos go for iPhone but if you like photos and a more "fun" camera then go for Samsung.
@@brandanl7780 apart from camera both phones are best and it’s on your choice and your ecosystem
Love my S22 ultra, I had a note 9 before and can definitely say I will always want a S-pen.
Currently have the 9 and definitely considering the ultra. I thought bout the regular 22 but I might miss the pen even tho I don't use it that often
Great video. I have been using an S9....yes, S9 for some time. I just ordered the 22 Ultra and am looking forward to it. Thank you for the review!
2018 S9? 🤔That's just a baby. I ordered mine today to replace a Note 3! 😮(early 2014)
@@robnation2475 The only problem with my S9 is that eventually, with long enough sessions, RUclips will just crash. Also, the phone is fairly laggy for anything remotely intensive, including stuff like moving between portrait and landscape mode while a RUclips video is playing. Still very usable, though, and I don't plan to replace it this year.
@@MayTheSchwartzBeWithYou Good to know. You may want to grab a Roku to watch RUclips.
I love my S22 ultra, the best phone ever made so far.
Fun fact, if you get the 256GB model, it comes with 12GB of RAM which is great for
multitasking and games!
All I do with mine is watch yt ;)
Good job Ella... I targeted to buy this phone long before and your video does speed up my purchase, so I guess Samsung should pay you a commission lol... Note pen is indeed a great tool as it lets mobile products to mimic natural human daily usage. Plus your praise of the goodies of 10X zoom is really a true reflection on practical photography usage. Keep up the good work ElLA... :)
She nailed it. My only two complaints i have about mine are the curve edges, and sharp corners. I use it with only one hand and after some time, it actually start to hurt my hand. I too prefer the rounded iPhone design. Other than that , terrific Phone.
get a case
@@stevenbrown7246 i never use case with any of my phones. I love how they look
@@blower2006 So you'd rather have a sore hand?
Thank you for your videoA
wow soo many features you dont need but still payed for
A really good review. You seem to reviewed it in a way that normal consumers, and not tech experts, would. Very useful for non-tech savvy people wishing to know more about S22 Ultra.
BTW I love how you watch aespa videos 😂
Agreed. She reviewed it like most of the girls does, that she didn't noticed the settings for camera effects/smoothness, etc. 😂
@@daigo.castillo Well as I said, she reviewed the way non-tech savvy people would. Not everyone is keen on those settings and would just go and point-and-shoot.
First time I watch your review and loved your presentation, voice and personality.
Great video and review. I must say, I thought the hype around castify was just marketing until I really couldn't find a case I liked for my new S22 and ordered my first case from them. The quality is great, the design I picked is perfect and I feel very confident in the level of protection. I will definitely buy from them again!
Just got this a few days ago as my first superphone. It is pretty amazing 👏
I don't find the curved edge a con. There is a function tho, it's for more ergonomic hold/grip. I also find it so classy and appealing. So saying it as a downside is pretty much unfair and it's should be a case of preference.
pros
- looks cool
Cons
- lots of glaring
- distortion
- accidental touches
- contrast issues
- makes the glass easier to break
one thing i hated about this was the edges, too. i bought it together with a silicone case and yes. do not buy the silicone case, it chipped the edge right away when it dropped it (literally two feet from my hand to ground). I love this phone, hate the accessories. their 30 dollar phone case isnt worth it.
OMG..!!!, right when you darkened your video at 4:36, you and the presentation looked so much better maybe even professional. Keep up the good work.
What?
Thank you for showing what your screen on time looks like! I dont see other reviews do that but i stream on youtube, via music, streaming apps, & light light gaming! It was nice seeing!
The curved screen is one of the absolute best features of the phone
I like how when you darkened the top and bottom of the screen it did nothing to distract me. if anything it put the subject (you) more in focus. Other than that this was a good review.
A great in-depth review of the s22 ultra ! I discovered a lot of things of this phone because of your video review. Thanks Ella 😄
Been using this phone for one whole day, got it just yesterday
Thanks for bringing up the raw performance. Apple ProRaw on my iPhone 13 Pro Max has been a game-changer for me - I used it for all my vacation photos during my last trip, and have also been able to sneak a few shots from my phone into my pro work that I usually just use my Sony a7iii for. The latitude offered in those files is immense. I'd legitimately miss it if I had to go back to the "classic" raw photos from phones.
All that aside, while I'm an iPhone guy, this is easily my "if I had to use Android" phone pick.
She didnt even used the expert raw app. Thats better compared to apple pro raw.
@@bokomokoksarimanoktiktilaokkok what "expert raw app" are you referring to? And how is it better?
I've only seen Pro mode take RAW pictures.
Great analysis Ella! I enjoyed your video very much 😀
Would love a Note phone in the form factor as the Surface Duo. I love the idea of foldable displays but...until I cannot damage the screen with my fingernail and plastic, I will always choose a glass display.
the drop test had me on the edge of my seat. dedication right there.
After using the Z Fold 3 for almost a year, I had my fun with it. It was a nice gimmick and cool to flex with but practicality I've always been a Note guy.
I think Samsung S22 Ultra is an amazing phone, top phone in câmaras , amazing visor with top images .
WOW! Your battery life is insane compared to mine, I can get around 4 hours of screen on time With heavy use and that's if I'm lucky.
Turn off all those background apps
@@jamesschofield9798 I've done everything in the book, even turned of the 5G so that it only connects to my 4G network and its not really a noticable difference.
@@terrylafauci791 4g is still way more power hungry than Wifi which is what she used
That's how much I get on my fold 3 like 5 hrs then I'll won't trade mine lol
I figured it out if you want to play with your S pen and be a 100% sure you won't scratch your screen sure screen just don't take that initial plastic off when you 1st get your S22 ULTRA... I'm not sure if it'll scratch Cause it's Gorilla glass Victus and the stylus is pretty soft
I think the Note 10 plus 5G was the best Note I have had, feels good, not heavy, very thing and also no accident touch.
+ card slot
did u try this one mentioned in the video?
Thank you Ella for your very in depth review of the S22 Ultra
The S-Pen was one of the selling points for me with the Note series, even though I don't use it as much as I expected. I now have the S22 Ultra and do not have the pin option when pulling the pen from a locked screen. Need to check my settings. Nice review!
is your phone with the 5G model?
I also do t have the pin
@@allanis_the_great Yes it is the 5G model.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make and post this comprehensive report/review on the *Galaxy S22 ULTRA* ... You did an awesome job covering all the vital points to help make a decision to buy or not to buy...
i just got min e 3 days ago. I would say it's one of the best I've owned so far
Thanks for a very informative review. I like seeing your comparative results with other phones which allows viewers to decide what matters to them when selecting a new phone. I'm one of those who found value in S-Pen with my tablet and have been eyeing this for my next phone.
I liked your voice. Also, thanks for covering what you used S pen for. I was really interested in that.
The curved screen is the primary reason I'm seriously considering moving to the iPhone 15 next year. I may stay with Android after I am able to compare the S23 Ultra with the iPhone 15 Ultra in September '23. Excellent overview of the S22.
U can always pass it to me rich guy
You completely missed the Complete Zoom Feature. You only went to x10. There's a x30 and x100. When you hit the x10 look below and you'll see the x30 and x100 options. It takes amazing pictures of the moon. Great Video though. I've had the Notes since the Note 1, so I can't live without the SPen.
I have this phone as well as P6P. I find the pictures far better on the Pixel. Samsung needs a software update on this camera, kinda shocked they haven't yet.
My husband really wanted this phone so I got it for him in White . He Loves it
Ella, this is one of the most comprehensive, technically informative and interesting phone reviews that I've ever seen!
You haven't been watching many of these then.
