    Both are useful in their own way.
    D Mode for highways + ACC/TA
    B Mode for city traffic.

      Heb je ecoassist aan staan? Ik kom er achter dat in D-mode de auto automatisch afremt en regenereert. Hij bekijkt borden en leest verkeersituaties. Dit rijd fijner en zuiniger dan B mode

      Dear ID.Furkan, many thanks for your channel. Regarding the present vlog I think that the stop&go is a significant factor in a city driving environment. To move 2.2 tons like an ID.4 82kWh net battery pack would signify a huge more amount of energy than to only drive the same car. What is your thought about that?

  • @F-TV-ri4nm

    Today I tried to drive only "B". And I got a lot of pleasure, and began to understand the need for this function more. 1. When cornering, there is almost no need to brake. 2. In an average load, traffic can be driven without using the brake pedal. 3. If you waiting at a traffic light on the uphill , a car doesn't roll back and holds the car tightly.

      Agreed… I love the B mode for all the above reasons.

    For motorway driving which mode would you recommend for consumption efficiency? D mode, and trying to coast as much as possible is what I believe from my driving so far, but would be interested in anyones thoughts, if something else has worked better for them?

    I wonder if the brake lights behave the same way while in B mode and cruise control is on. What I mean is with my foot off the accelerator aka "gas" pedal while in cruise control and the car is in constant speed in B mode, will the break lights be always off? Is it alright to be in B mode constantly while in cruise control?

    • @EV.Furkan
      @EV.Furkan  2 года назад

      when you are in cruisecontrol, B-mode gets overriden. so you brake lights goes on depending on the deacceleration. So if CC slows down and above 0.3 m/s deacceleration change the brakelight goes on AFAIK.

    B mode is only used on steep down hills! 🤷🤦If you drive only on B mode you will be putting too much torque pressure on the gears 🙏

    D Mode and keep coasting while possible, switch to B when need to slowdown or stop. But it all depends on the road and how match you can free roll

  • @LiiMuRi
    @LiiMuRi 3 года назад

    I use the B mode in cities and mountain roads mainly for the comfort. Not having to use the brake pedal is just more relaxing.

  • @Iamjago
    @Iamjago 2 года назад

    Did you brake hard on D mode? Because if you break gently you get the same regen as in B mode. Coasting is always more efficient than throttle between regen/power (you never get the same amount of kw back from regen that you use from power). So the only explanation is that you didn’t regen brake in D mode.

    • @EV.Furkan
      @EV.Furkan  2 года назад

      I tried it 3 times.
      1.B,
      2.D with eco assist on (this regens when it sees a car infront)
      3.D with eco assist off (this is FULL Coast, till human brake input), not the nicest to drive around tbh

  • @johnstrachan69

    Furkon,
    You are the only person that I have seen so far show the difference between D and B modes, everyone else talks about the Regenerative Braking as a Norm. I drive an electric Trolley Bus in Vancouver BC Canada. These buses do what we call free wheeling and D mode looks similar. We get the bus up to speed and take the foot off the accelerator and let the bus free wheel (coast) using it's own momentum. I can actually go several blocks on the initial push on the accelerator. When electric cars came out I was disappointed to learn that they don't free wheel like the Trolley Bus does. When I learnt that the ID 4 would free wheel (coast) I was excited to see it finally in an electric car. Looking at literature from VW I see that they understand the concept and hope that they will have this on all of their future electric cars. On this test drive where you are showing the D mode, are you actually taking your foot off the accelerator and letting the car coast or are you constantly applying a little pressure on the accelerator? If you are using the accelerator constantly I would love to see how much a difference it makes to let the car coast without using the accelerator.
    John

      like said there is an ECO Assist mode (not sure if the USA cars has this), but if you disable eco assist it will freewheel/full coast till you brake.

    Hello Furkan, thank you again for the video. The outcome really supprised me bacause VW suggested the opposite result. They say D mode should be more efficient. I wonder what the outcome would be if you did the same test the other way round, starting with the B Mode. Taking the average would be more clear. So a second test would be nice, but I totally understand if there's not the time for that.

    • @EV.Furkan
      @EV.Furkan  3 года назад

      would say D mode is more efficient on country roads / highway. Will try it again another time with a longer drive segment.

    How much did you drive before you started the test loops? I noticed that it was only 10 degrees outside, so if the inside of your car and the battery had not yet fully warmed up, the first loop would be at a disadvantage compared to the later loops. This might have contributed to the slightly astonishing difference between ‘D’ mode with / without eco assist.

    As soon as you said manual drive you LOST like for like conditions imho. ACC is the most economical.

    • @EV.Furkan
      @EV.Furkan  3 года назад

      D with Eco is semi-autonomous driving. The car reacts on surrounding elements like braking when there is a car front of you. for a complete stop you need to touch the brake pedal. its a ACC like drive style without the ACC/TA toggled part.

  • @Thomas-mp9qq

    Did I understand you correctly? You never drive in Eco mode. I drive 50% highway and 50% city. I drive in Eco mode 90% of the time. Is there any difference apart from quicker acceleration off the blocks?

    • @EV.Furkan
      @EV.Furkan  3 года назад +2

      Eco uses ventilation on Driverside only when driving alone, acceleration is slower, reaction is slower. I like my cars more playfull which eco mode is lacking

    • @paekgom23
      @paekgom23 3 года назад

      @@EV.Furkan I thought ventillation turns to a kind of eco mode on the passanger side whenever the passanger seat is empty, no matter if I use eco or comfort mode. Or are there any differences between 2 and 3 zone models and heat pump models?

    • @EV.Furkan
      @EV.Furkan  3 года назад

      Yes, Eco Assistance is also working with B-mode, but its harder to see it because you are already braking when you let the electro pedal go. so it brakes a notch harder when closing too much to the car in front of you, but the difference between manual braking and let the computer brake isnt that big.
