Been working on vehicles for 17 years now. Never pulled a front differential. Thanks for the tutorial. Bought to tear one out on this hot muggy sunday

2002 4WD Sonoma here. Looks like I gotta take all that out just to drop my leaking oil pan gasket 🙂
More than likely! Best of luck on your journey!!
So I’m just wondering, about any front differential , and it should trough a code if it’s having any problems then right?
🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
On my 2009 DURAMAX ..
Not necessarily. Mechanical problems won't always throw a cody, but an electrical/sensor problem might
hey loved the video! if you let off the gas does the noise go away? i think i’m having the same issue on my 2015 sierra
The diagnostic is more of a 2wd vs 4wd test. This rig was not very predictable in 4wd, but the noise completely went away in 2wd. Glad you enjoyed! Make sure to subscribe for more =)
@@NiceGuysGASS right same with mine. but the noise goes away if i don’t give it gas. if i’m coasting there is no noise:
if i give it gas in auto or 4x4 it makes the same noise
@@NiceGuysGASS and no issues turning?
We didn't have issues turning, but it certainly sounds like you're experiencing symptoms of gear wear or low fluid. You old always stick a flexible magnet in the fill plug and swirl it around after driving for a bit in auto or 4wd.. If it comes out with metal sludge, then you know for sure.
I enjoyed the video, but wish a couple more minutes could have been spent explaining & showing "exactly" how to maneuver the differential between the rack & pan.
It's an easy job until you get to that point, but not one of the RUclips videos provide the clarity I'm looking for. Hope I don't drop it this weekend.
Sorry! We didn’t know that was a part we should have covered better!

No problem. I have the same transmission jack from Harbor Freight which is essentially V-shaped. Noticed the orientation was altered 90 degrees when it was time to re-install. Wondering whether this was by design?
It might have been. Sometimes we do things intentionally, other times by happen chance.... we truly are shade tree folk

I was able to complete the task yesterday, by myself. Took my time. Learned alot. Thanks.
It’s always good when you get a chance to learn! Glad we could be here to help.
