Watching videos, I definitely think there is slightly different pans for the same era. We did all the tricks doing this last night and nothing was working. Could be different thicknesses, just as much as an 1/8 of an inch.
Shoot... Did you end up having to drop the exhaust?
@ we tried, we were able, with help of my buddy, using 4 hands to get the filter and gasket out, new ones in. Never again!
Some jobs fall in that category. Glad to hear it all worked out this time! Thanks for sharing
thank you . doing my daughters subaru . it’s been 10 years since i have replaced belts so this video is great as a reminder 👍🏼
So glad to hear this video helped! We appreciate the feedback
I took the pan off my 1990 k1500 and it had some oil pan rails. Should I install them with the new fel pro gasket?
Yes! Those help maintain proper torque across the pan to prevent leaks and warping.
Hey dude thanks for the video. Any tips on how you got the #7 in past the condensor cover? I have the bus bar harness aswell.
Play with angles, use some dielectric grease, use a long pick or screw driver to help move it around and pry/wedge stuff, or loosen or remove that condenser cover if all else fails.
Nice info! I have the special 1995 4L60E in my 1995 4x4 Silverado. If the case is cracked, what years are best to look for to use my 1995 internals with? 93 and 94, or 1996 and 97? Thx!
Hmmmm. 95 was a changeover year we believe. Try to stick with 93-95 if you have a 12 pin connector, or a late 95 or 96 if you have a 13 pin connector (talking about the wiring harness).
Do I need to go.wack wack or wack wack wack
Honestly, that’s a skill based question.
Great video im about to do this on my silverado i just got. Are you supposed to turn the steering wheel towards the inner tie rod your working on or leave the tires straight ?
Great question! We generally turn the tire away from the side you're working on so you have more room to work in there!
@NiceGuysGASS great gonna tackle it tomorrow hopefully everything goes well bought the specialty tool from harbor freight just incase
Haha,nice job!🤣
Thanks! What else would you expect from the Nice Guys??
You're doing way to much extra work. The oil cooler housing can be undone through the bottom without doing all that extra work and then snake out the oil cooler lines through the top.
Excellent! Thanks for letting us know! Hopefully that helps future endeavors for our viewers!
How does this get assembled at the factory?
Toyota has sworn all of their employees to secrecy, but rumor has it Amazon built tiny robots powered by Apple... Just the rumor we heard.
sirs, what is the OE number of this rotor disc?
Shoot! Can't recall. Check Rock Auto or Amazon!
Wonder if this is goin to be easier on lifted truck as believe mines needing changed but i have a 2012 gmc 5.3 but has a 7.5 inch lift
Hmmmm, maybe. Particularly if there's a body lift as well as suspension.
Muchas gracias Dios te bendiga en este caso necesito tu ayuda gracias Dios te bendiga siempre con tu familia bendiciones
Happy to help!
You’re like the ChatGPT of automotive repair
This is the highest compliment we have ever received. Much appreciated 👍
Are rebuild kits available for these front diffs or do you have to buy a whole new unit?
As long as the housing is good, you can rebuild it.
That’s really good video. Thank you for your time. But I see you have a low views this because you don’t put the years of the car like pacifically and don’t mention the position like it’s like front left right People like me we didn’t see the year or model in the title description. I just like go to another video.
Thanks for the feedback!
This process is total bullshit...great video but still a garbage job to get done
It was absolutely awful. Good Luck!
@NiceGuysGASS i got it, managed to get one side done, and couldn't stop then, lol As a shop owner, I'm really not sure how to charge for the job...in theory, it shouldn't take anywhere as long as it did...but at the same time I'm a competent mechanic with 30 years red seal....i damn near used a stepper bit and enlarged the hole in the axle ...then again i contemplated a few things during the job...one was wondering what a 9-5 job would be like lol
Thank you
You're welcome!
Piece of advice. Do not do it like this do not take your inner fender out. All you have to do is remove your air filter and air filter down tube. and go here right underneath your overflow tank to the radiator. so much easier then taking that stupid inner fender out
Thanks for the tip!
Okay say you look the little retaining “m” clips. What size for replacement?
Oh no!! Good news, Dorman sells a multi pack that will have your size, we'll see if we can track down a link...

@@NiceGuysGASS thanks so much!
On rod those are called balance pads for a reason
True!
It’s $2,500 at a GMC dealer 🤦🏻♂️
That seems unhelpful!
Will this process work on an '18 Outback?
We can’t say for sure, but the model hasn’t changed much, so best guess is yes. No guarantee.
Is it the same for a second gen ?
Hello, my 08 Silverado is raised 2 or 4 inches similar to yours. I will change the control arms. I see that you put the standard measurement in Moog. They are very similar to duralast. I bought that special control arm and reinforced ones are the normal ones. I mean, do you think the manufacturer's ones fit the way my Silverado is built?
Yes, usually 2 to 4 inches will accommodate standard control arms.. at least in our experience
I followed this video and replaced both of my front hub assembly’s, brought the car into get alignment done and the tech showed me that wheel moves in and out ever so slightly when pushing back and forth at 12 and 6 position with no load on wheel. It moves like about a hair thickness on both sides. The tech told me he can’t perform an alignment and wants to replace the bearing hub assembly. I’ve driven 50 miles on it and haven’t noticed anything humming or rubbing. In fact, replacement of these parts has given me a smoother ride. My question is, is this tech just trying to build his commission or did I do something wrong during install? Any insight would be helpful.
There is always the possibility the parts you purchased are defective, new parts just aren’t as good as they used to be. What manufacturer did you use? We would say you should probably go to another alignment shop and see what they say.
This is fucking genius. Thank you. I've been looking for storage solutions to go under the Bakflip cover and this is perfect.
Those are really nice, do you have a link to them? Thank you
Here you go! We put them in the video description too! amzn.to/3ZFnyzj amzn.to/3Ztkcy7
I don't think the leak from the gasket instead from upper hoses of adapter block
Hmmm, please elaborate
@NiceGuysGASS @ 11:22 you could see that the gasket location is dry which mean it doesn't cause leak, while the Hoses are soaked with oil
this looks like more like a honda accord. the only with k24 is 2012-2015 civic SI
Nice.
do you have to replace the seal? I have 2 sets incase I screw up. Just don't have a tool to set them. I haven't changed an axle or brakes in 50 years.
You don’t have to replace the seal unless it leaks. You don’t need a tool for it. You can use the axle nut socket.
My VB WRX has been clicking since it was bran new. In parking lots, it does like a click and then like a shutter noise when pushing the clutch back in. I asked around, and no one knows what the noise is. I asked the dealer, and they don't know, but then said it's normal.
Subarus have two notorious problems - weak transmissions and head gaskets. You should probably have the dealer replace the tranny if it is still under warranty. It should never click.
@@NiceGuysGASS yeah, i think the head gasket issue is long over. But the transmission suck. This trans has the shittiest synchros I have ever felt. 1rst gear is too low too. 4.11. should be like 3.8. Subie says that the front diff is open, yet it skips in my driveway and parking lots like an LSD is in there. I have no drivability issues though. It's under warranty, and I also have the extended factory Subaru warranty bumper-to-bumper X 10 years. I did take it to them, and they said it's normal. Yeah, OK. If it is, I'd say it's the center diff. LSD clutch packs disengaging.
Thanks for the video! This makes it seem quite doable for someone with basic mechanical skills and experience. Would you be able to confirm the parts you bought? Looking at the parts diagrams, it seems the assembly you had on hand was made of a few separate components. Thanks in advance! Edited to add I’m working on a 2011.
More than likely it was a full kit. Just make sure the dust seal is included.
Great video🎉
Thank you!
I just changed my front diff on my 07 Tahoe z71 thanks to your video thank you 🙏
Thanks for watching and glad we could help!
you need new hinges, yours are bent the worst I've ever seen
Well dang
My 93 s10 2.8lt catalic converter turn red when it heats what can be wrong?
They always get pretty hot You should use an infrared thermometer and take a measurement to see how hot it's actually getting instead of just going by color if it is truly overheating it could be plugged
@NiceGuysGASS I'll check ,muffler smell gas raw
Do you have a misfire? That's be a lot of unburned fuel to get it to heat up that much. Could also be a bad o2 sensor causing a fuel dump. Check your MPG by hand.
20 minutes ha! Haha! Hahaha! Yeah right! How is the driver side shaft that slides into the what type of gear oil does the case take? And is that shadt that slides into the cv axel held in by a pin or a screw type pin?
Seems like you missed a word or two, but here we go. 1. Check your manual for the oil type, but it is typically an 80 of 90 wt gear oil. 2. There is no retention pin, the cv axle is held in with a c-type retention clip in this example. 3. Not sure what you are asking about the drivers side shaft.
Hello! I'm struggling with fitting the axle into the diff. Full disclosure, I purchased an aftermarket Import Direct part from O'Reilly. It's been mentioned that I messed up the seal and it's catching too early, not allowing anymore depth with the axle (I used a socket to insert the seal). However, the machined etchings on the end are different. on the stock part, they are a crisscross and on the new part they are spiraled. Do those really matter? What might I be facing here. Seems like it should be a pretty easy insertion, but it's not budging.
1. Did you confirm the new part looks like and matched the new part? 2. Did you buy and replace the seal? If so, is it flush with the case? If not, replace the seal. 3. Check the c-ring on the old and new axle. Make sure they are similar and exist. 4. It may take some force to get the axle to seat. 5. The criscross pattern you mentioned may be indicative of an improper part. As much as we love parts stores, they often send out the wrong parts, even when you buy them from dealer service centers.
@@NiceGuysGASS Hi - Thank you for the timely response! I confirmed the general shape and length. I confirmed there is the ring and they look identical. The only real difference I notice, other than color, is the machined pattern. If that is certainly something that could cause an issue, then I'm fairly confident that's the issue. I replaced the seal, and it looks flush. Is there an aftermarket part that you would suggest? I believe I have read that TRQ is solid with their axles, if you have an opinion on that. The car has about 200k miles and generally won't last much longer. I'm trying to do this as economically as possible. Parts that fit and are safe are preferred. Longevity isn't even a consideration since the engine will give out within 10k, methinks.
It would be surprising for the engine to fail at 200k. Subarus, if properly maintained, last well beyond 200k, and that’s why you see so many still on the road. More than likely, it’s just being fussy, and you’ll have to fiddle with it. The c-clip is very tight and if the axle is not properly aligned, it may be binding. Try taking it out and putting it in again. Gently rotate it until you feel the splines (grooves on the end) align with the differential (transmission). Then give it the old heave-ho!
Best how-to video for replacing engine cooler lines on my 2010 Silverado. Had to take apart the motor mount inside since my steering intermediate shaft would not break free. In total job took me around 4 to 5 hours. Solved my oil leak problem on my cooler block and lines! Very pleased!
Happy to hear it went well!! Thank you for sharing your success story
Why are you pulling the tranny for the central diff? Way too much work.
When u install the r.main housing how do u center it perfect.?
The way we did it was align the gasket, the housing, then slowly and evenly bolt everything together. Once it's snug, give it the old eyeball check, then torque it down... We might have done it wrong, but it's been holding up for a few years!!
Vice grip garage much
Nah, You?
@@NiceGuysGASS not much
In the older 08 subarus theres a front wheel drive option in the fuse box for when using a spare tire. I can not find that option for my 18 crosstrek. Did they do away with that?
There was nothing in the manual for this model about any changes to run with a spare. You should however make sure your spare is in the rear.
Yes they removed that, fix the crosstreck those things break because you didn't replace all four tires at the same time
I found one out of a Oldsmobile bravada that stops at 110 mph the digital gauges in my 89 gmc sierra classic s15 does like yours so wanting to swap over to analog gauges pitty can’t get the stock digital one to work no it’s a solder joint that’s broke but this seems easier and less expensive than taking the digital one out and repairing
It's not a horrible job, double check the wiring when you do it and maybe use wire nuts for the test connection before you button everything up! Bonus, you could attempt to repair that digital cluster and switch back later!
Hello. When you tighten the bailing wire around the springs… I found an easier way. Assemble the springs with the hardware, then double loop the wire around the backside of the retaining clip on the pin, then pull and it will slide the assembly compressing the spring while you insert the brake shoe. Then once assembled, you simply can pull the wire right out without snipping anything.
Awesome!
dude you're a wizard. thank you for sharing!!
Appreciate the comment! There's more magic to come, we ain't done yet!!
This was a bitch azzz job!! I turned a 20 minute job into a 2 hour with old sh*t breaking and being a dumba**.
Did you loosen the exhaust bolts to pry the exhaust
Nope, ours had enough flex in the hanger.
Do you have to drain the transmission to do this job?
No, you do not.
