Everyone has their own moment from Dragon Ball that's special to them. From sacrifices, transformations... you name it! As vast as the franchise is, to this day, my favorite moment in all of Dragon Ball is when our beloved hero makes his grand but quiet return to the battlefield.

I can relate to watching DBZ first before OG Dragon Ball, since that's the order they aired on Toonami. So yeah, the Saiyan Saga was my first exposure to Goku's story too. I wasn't even aware for a while there that he was the main hero of the show, since I started watching during the middle of the year-long gap between the arrivals of Raditz and Vegeta. Gohan had more screentime during that portion of the Saiyan Saga it seemed, so I guess I just assumed he was the star of the show. My initial impression of Goku was that he was Gohan's older brother rather than his dad, since he didn't look old enough to be a dad to 8-year-old me. Guess it didn't help that they were both wearing the same outfit during that time also.
Anyway, I missed out on Goku's arrival at the battlefield and the "Over 9000!" scene at first, so I guess the first Goku moment that stuck out to me was when he used the Kaio-ken the first time, mainly cuz he went all red which was my favorite color. Of course, watching him go Super Saiyan the first time later on stuck out to me even more, heh.

Also my favorite moment in DBZ is a tough pick. Currently it's gotta be either goku's first SSJ transformation, the death of Frieza, or Gohan's one arm Kamehameha
