      Any thief would easily find this. I’m certain he has a tracker and kill switch that is somewhere difficult to find that isn’t in the video. No matter where you put the kill switch if it’s spliced within a couple feet of the start button or the ignition relay they can just resplice the cut wires. This is just a monitor that alerts him that the car is being messed with. I’m certain there is a second gps tracker and one or two kill switches that aren’t on the video.

    Having it hardwired is gonna have it pull ~12 volts all the time. It may jump up to 14-15 volts when the engine starts. I'm sure the device actually connects to the PCM/ECU while inserted in the OBD2 port. That's why you get the engine start/stop alerts. What you need to install is an ODB2 bypass cable to connect it to instead. That should maintain the functionality, except for possibly the vibration.

    The voltage tells the device that the engine had started. The car has a voltage regulator (resistor) attached to the battery negative that is responsible for charging the battery when it drops to a certain point. It needs to be hard wired to a constant 12v source but not directly to the battery. That wY the voltage will read the engine/alternator output instead of the battery's voltage. The OBD port hookup only provided the constant 12v power and negative just like the pigtail. Location will play a part as far a detecting vibrations in the cabin.

    You could try splicing wires directly under the dash board. There are several 12V and negative cables under the dash that you can tap into. I would just add a fuse in series with the device just in case you have a surge in the system. that way your security system is inside the car under the dashboard and out of sight and I’ll also free up you’re OBD port.

  • @rustyshaklferd1897
    @rustyshaklferd1897 Год назад

    The car lock in the obd port if fine for notification that the car is being messed with even if they unplug it it still serves that purpose. I’m sure you do, but having a secondary gps tracker and at least 2 kill switches that are hidden and not spliced in near the start button or ignition relay. There are many good places for the tracker and the kill switches. If you remove the rear seat you can wire a kill switch to the fuel pump. Once car lock alerts you they won’t have time to remove the rear seat to find it even if you leave a note telling them where the switch is spliced to the fuel pump.

    • @rustyshaklferd1897
      @rustyshaklferd1897 Год назад

      And you don’t need a physical switch to the fuel pump under the rear seat. You can wire a relay under the rear seat wired in a normally open configuration and any wireless device to close the relay via a remote control to power up the fuel pump.

    This is why I recommend wireless GPS devices, Yes cheap Apple Air tags and Samgsung Smart Tags work, but aren't 100% reliable like a Real-Time GPS that constantly update. Most of these thieves steal your shit early in the AM, when most people are still sleep and Most people are on the road, so Airtags at those hours are useless, I would know.
    My Scat was stolen a little over a month ago, around 2am in the morning my wife hears my car start up and it take off down the street. Yep, I found my car, but only a few hours later I got a hit, luckily it was still in my city, hell if they were from out of town, by time I got the hit I could had been out of state. So yeah, I had to upgrade to a real time GPS, I still keep the smart tag as a back up.

    when thieves cant steal them and drive them off, they will do what they did in the 70s and 80s, they will use flatbed wrecker trucks to just snatch them up and haul them off. an old school way to stop the car from driving around is run a heavy chain around the steering wheel and under a seat... unless they have big/heavy bolt cutters, or a tool box with the tools to remove the seat, they aint goin too far.. this would be something u could do when u park the car at night.. another way to easily disable the engine is remove the starter relay.. if a thief cant get it started fast, they arent going to be out there trying to figure it out. the laws need to be changed so that breaking into a car is a felony.. in most states it is a simple misdemeanor.
