Great video ! I’ve been using CarLock on my Challenger for about a week now ….. BUT …. My vibration detection only works about half the time ….. also, the engine start and movement alerts are no where near as fast as yours…… engine start sometimes is fast and sometimes up to a minute ……. Movement alert is much slower, probably activates after I’ve driven a few blocks. Any remedies for this ?? I have the extension cable off the OBD port and just stuffed the device up under the plastic under the wheel (not mounted to anything )
For vibration detection, I recommend placing it against or securing it to the metal of the car so vibrations can resonate. If it’s floating around you’re not going to get the best results. Regarding the delays. On rare occasion, I experience up to a minute delay, but it doesn’t happen all the time. I would say if it keeps happening, maybe contact their support team
@@WorkPlayDrive thank you !! do you know if the car has to be running for the movement alert to work and map location? For example, if it is towed or pushed by another vehicle when not running
Thanks for such a great review. Maybe I missed it but I am wondering if you can trigger the car alarm from the app when you get a notification of any sudden vibration?
One thing - the CarLock tag works differently on Android than on iOS. Rather than fastening the tag in your car, CarLock wants you to carry it around in your wallet, apparently as a workaround to unidentified technical limitations on the Android.
I’m an idiot on electrical. Plugging this into the port doesn’t work for me as the first thing thieves do is plug in the port. How easy is it to hook to the battery? You mentioned a fuse but again- I’m an idiot.
When you first set it up. I have 2 devices and both experienced delays on the first day. After that they are pretty fast. In my area I get alerts in about 3-15 seconds.
@@WorkPlayDrive I actually got it by Amazon today and the delay is not too bad. But it does not do the loud alarm just a normal little phone text notification bell. Whats that about?? The reason I got it was so I would be awaken from sleep if I got a notification.
In your video it looks like the alarm sounds nearly instantly on your phone. I've had mine for a few days and I either get no alarm at all or at best it will sound 3-5 minutes later. Why is that? Also get no notifications EVER for vibrations. I can literally slam the door and nada.
What happens when I stop for coffee. I leave it running, get out and lock the car and take the key with me. Will it start the countdown while I'm in the store and flash the lights? Thanks for the video, great job!
If you leave with the keys, whether you lock it or not, it will start the countdown and it will lock the brakes. It will not flash the lights until you get in and try to put it in drive. The only thing that will flash is the interior flashers.
I have this installed in my 2002 Trans Am and my newer 2019 Ram. Since the carlock tells me battery voltage it gives me warnings when the battery gets low. The Trans am sits for long periods. My current battery, which is a few years old I can go 2 to 3 weeks without getting a low battery warning and another week or two and still start the car Hope that helps.
I don’t see a way to change the Sim card. Your best bet is to check their website and it actually has a wizard that helps you understand if your vehicle and location is compatible.
Hi Can u tell me how come I dont get the full flashing red screen with the siren tone. All I get is the 1 vibration warning light even I turn my phone sound on full Pls help me.. Thanks
Can this device alert me to a small door ding? I want something sensitive enough that can send me a notification if someone that parks next to me slightly hits my car with their door. Enough to case a very slight door ding or paint damage.
Sensitivity is based on placement. To the best of my knowledge Carlock is not sensitive enough to detect light hits over the entire car. However you seem to have the same level of OCD that I do. I received a dash cam for testing this morning that has AI assisted impact detection. It will supposedly let you know an impact was detected and where on your vehicle it happened. It also flags the recording so it’s easy to find in the app. This cam won’t notify you in real time but when you get back to the car it will notify you on what happened. If it works should have a video on it in about 3 weeks. The cam
Oh hey man...can you hook it up to your battery without an inline fuse....if not where can I buy an inline fuse?...whats the easiest way to hook in the back of our challengers?
Nice review. I have a question about the CarLock. Can I install the CarLock App in few different phones (Android and iPhones) for my family members? So my wife and daughter can lock and unlock the CarLock themselves when they going somewhere themselves. I am going to get one soon.
Thank you for your review. It was helpful. One question. Do you have to buy a carlock device for each vehicle or do you have to move it between vehicles. Like you, I have more than one vehicle I'd like to protect.
If you don’t want to move it you would have to get a CarLock for every vehicle. But if you only want to buy one, yes you can switch it between vehicles
5 amp fuse is more than enough to cover just the CarLock. There of course is some power draw but I haven’t had any issues. For example with my truck I’ve left it sitting for 3 weeks and came home and she started right up.
Nice video. So when it provides a low voltage alert will the Carlock actually stop working or will it keep working up until it theoretically kills the battery past the point the car won't start? My concern is that my car will some time sit a week to 2 weeks in between starting and I don't generally keep a trickle charger on the car so if the Carlock keeps functioning after the alert it will mean I basically have to start charging. Also is the voltage level adjustable for the setting it looks for or is that hard coded in the app?
I have been enjoying it, i decided to hook it up in the trunk near the battery of my challenger also, but it didn't help with vibration alerts no matter where I placed it. So I gave up and hooked it back up under the dash, but zip tied it too.. which gives best results with vibrations near the doors, dash, all frontal parts of the car.
That’s a tough one to answer. I’ve seen catalytic converters stolen and less than two minutes. There’s a video on RUclips showing a car pulling up cutting out the catalytic converter and back in the car driving off in one minute and 36 seconds. All depends on how fast you react to that alarm and of course what you’re gonna do about it when it goes off.
Is there a way to change the alert sound for vibration detected? Right now it's just a beep for me. I want it to be the alarm sound like it is for everything else. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
@@WorkPlayDrive I'm on android. I figured it out. The older phone I was using didn't have a sounds app for the carlock app to connect to to change the sounds. Oh man I hate false alarms. I once had my Nest smoke detector tell me there was a fire in my living room while I was at work. 😱 Thankfully I had cameras, but all my smoke detectors were going off for hours till I got home. 😏
Forgot to ask in previous comment. Did you do any kind of testing with Carlock and something else connected to the OBD network at the same time like maybe a code scanning tool? So I have a code scanning tool that can also provide sort of a dashboard to a mobile device to display multiple gauges on the same screen. One of the biggest short comings of the Uconnect system and Performance Pages is that you can customize the display to show the gauges you are interested in on a single page. I have a 9 inch tablet that I run in my car and with the OBD scanning tool I have a customized interface. Just wondering how they would both work with say the Carlock in the trunk on the bypass cable and the scanning tool in the actual OBD port.
Carlock doesn't need the OBD port at all, only power. You can grab this power connector amzn.to/2ZUkW4f and simply wire it to an always on circuit then stash the Carlock somewhere in the car. I recommend attaching the device to the frame or body of the car for the best results with impact detection.
@@WorkPlayDrive So for the car starting alert is that triggered by a drop in voltage? I assumed that's why it needed the OBD port so it knew when the car was started.
@@WorkPlayDrive Ah ok good to know. I think you probably mentioned that when you talked about the battery tender but I guess I glossed right over that part. Do you happen to have any fuse tap recommendations? Thinking about putting it in the trunk and tapping an existing fuse there that is constant power.
Hi ,and very nice review 😊 i have one question and I would be grateful if you could answer me if you know of course . having it in the special case of your car and for some reason you have to be absent for 4...5 days. Hi there! Great review btw definitely helped me with my decision on to getting this product for my car. Quick question I’ve never had to hook up anything to an always on circuit board I was wonder if you can help me out onto connecting everything the way you did it with your challenger?
I would love to have a product that works like it says. That being said, I will not buy one. If you go to the product page and look at the pictures of people reviewing, you will see that many have been paid or received a free product. How do I know? When you take a picture of your car with the box as advertising, that in short summery is fake advertising. I did this myself. A few companies reached out to me and asked if I would try their product and all I had to do to get t free was leave a positive review and take a photo with the box in the photo. Read the 1 star reviews.
I get it, and agree it’s hard to read through the BS and get to the real reviews. I do not give good reviews for free products. I’ve been using CarLock now in 2 of my vehicles for a few years and in my area NY/NJ it works well. I get my notifications quickly usually under 15-30 seconds The CarLock tag is the only product that annoys me with 6 month battery changes. Best thing I can recommend is try it from Amazon. The free month and amazon return eliminates the risk.
Recently had one of our Cat Converters stolen from one of our cars, alarm never went off. I noticed in the video you just tapping the car sent off all sorts of signals and sensors. Would this work if someone was to go underneath and try to steal something or even if someone tried to steal tires, etc etc
It all depends on where you place the device. If you hard wire it and attach it to the frame it will be a lot more sensitive than connecting to the OBD II port. I have mine attached to a metal brace connected the the frame and if I walk up and kick the tire, bang on the Catalytic converter etc it goes off.
LMAO Optional child sled. You crack me up. I hadn't heard of this hardware before today. It's a neat idea, but what would be tits, if it would prevent the car from starting at all. Just one more layer of security.
I got the idea from a friend who recently had his cat stolen. They left a kids boogie board under his truck. I'm looking into an easy solution for ignition kill. Someday I'll get something that works for me.
It’s cool and all but the purpose of a car and item alarm is to discourage the thief from stealing..so they should hear that annoying sound too mostly lol..
This is a tracking and monitoring device. It’s meant to be undetectable to anyone other than the owner. Allows you to ensure your family is driving safe, make sure your service tech is not out joyriding and locate your car when stolen. If it makes noise they can find it and remove it
What is even the post of having a hellcat when the computer parent yells at you for speeding 😒 but still thanks for showing me where my parents could put something like this
Huge news with the "allow critical alerts". Just had some thieves break into my car and try to steal my airbag. Thankfully they didn't get it, but it would have been nice to know at between 9:30 PM and 7 AM and have an alarm go off.
Our mopars already come with LoJack from dealership that’s lifetime tracking speed alerts geofencing maintenance schedules car report location amount of gas angle of wheels tire pressure places u went and time average speed high speed all activity so what’s the point in car lock, it doesn’t remote kill your car so it’s pointless plus you have to have a monthly subscription🤷🏾♂️
Don’t like the “pay for delay” 30 seconds is standard…it costs a lot more for a 15 second delay. This means a criminal gets a 30 second head start on you.
If it’s ight out of the box, you gotta give it a few days of driving to kind of home in according to their app. After that mines been pretty spot on notifications come within 10 to 15 seconds. If this continues definitely reach out to Support they are really cool and responsive

I’ve got CarLock tucked in various places in 3 of my vehicles. In the cab, the trunk all buried and surrounded by the metal of the car. All my devices are working and reporting in near real time
Do you know what battery the tracker itself uses? My dad s battery went dead and its not tracking. Before that it was perfect
Sorry, not sure, but you can always contact her support for help
Thanks for the great review. Torn between getting the OBD device and the one you hook to the battery. Any suggestions in which of the two you think is better? Thanks in advance
Just to add, do you think using a dedicated separate 12V battery to power this device will work? Thanks
For example, if it is towed or pushed by another vehicle when not running
the movement will trigger if it’s towed engine off. 👍
Thanks for such a great review. Maybe I missed it but I am wondering if you can trigger the car alarm from the app when you get a notification of any sudden vibration?
CarLock is a stealthy device to notify you when something is happening. It does not have an audible alarm inside the vehicle.
Nah but you can get a good wireless wifi camera, useful if your car is normally sat close enough to your house wifi
One thing - the CarLock tag works differently on Android than on iOS. Rather than fastening the tag in your car, CarLock wants you to carry it around in your wallet, apparently as a workaround to unidentified technical limitations on the Android.
That’s so fun, does the andriod app have voice control in the settings. They recently added the ability to turn it on and off using Siri.
@@WorkPlayDrive Haven't noticed it.
I’m an idiot on electrical. Plugging this into the port doesn’t work for me as the first thing thieves do is plug in the port. How easy is it to hook to the battery? You mentioned a fuse but again- I’m an idiot.
You will need to connect this to an always on power connection. If you’re not good with electrical maybe call in a buddy to assist?
Great video. Keep up the good work. Nice car.
Thank you 🙏
I've seen comments about there being up to an hour delay on notifications. Did you experience any delayed alerts?
When you first set it up. I have 2 devices and both experienced delays on the first day. After that they are pretty fast. In my area I get alerts in about 3-15 seconds.
@@WorkPlayDrive I actually got it by Amazon today and the delay is not too bad. But it does not do the loud alarm just a normal little phone text notification bell. Whats that about?? The reason I got it was so I would be awaken from sleep if I got a notification.
On the iPhone it’s loud out of the box when triggered. Not sure about the android app.
In your video it looks like the alarm sounds nearly instantly on your phone. I've had mine for a few days and I either get no alarm at all or at best it will sound 3-5 minutes later. Why is that? Also get no notifications EVER for vibrations. I can literally slam the door and nada.
Question; you mentioned Apple, does it work with Android and is it also compatible with OnStar?
What happens when I stop for coffee. I leave it running, get out and lock the car and take the key with me. Will it start the countdown while I'm in the store and flash the lights? Thanks for the video, great job!
If you leave with the keys, whether you lock it or not, it will start the countdown and it will lock the brakes. It will not flash the lights until you get in and try to put it in drive.
The only thing that will flash is the interior flashers.
Any idea how much battery drain this device causes when attached to OBD port, especially if car is sitting for 2-3 days?
I have this installed in my 2002 Trans Am and my newer 2019 Ram. Since the carlock tells me battery voltage it gives me warnings when the battery gets low.
The Trans am sits for long periods. My current battery, which is a few years old I can go 2 to 3 weeks without getting a low battery warning and another week or two and still start the car
Hope that helps.
Thank you for the critical alert tip. Great function
Looks like my comment was removed. Why??
Does it work in Australia
And how to change the sims card.
Thanks
I don’t see a way to change the Sim card. Your best bet is to check their website and it actually has a wizard that helps you understand if your vehicle and location is compatible.
Hi
Can u tell me how come I dont get the full flashing red screen with the siren tone. All I get is the 1 vibration warning light even I turn my phone sound on full
Pls help me..
Yes you can have the app logged in on multiple devices to control the lock/unlock 👍.
@@WorkPlayDrive Thank you.
Thank you sir for the video an super explaination
Thank you for your review. It was helpful. One question. Do you have to buy a carlock device for each vehicle or do you have to move it between vehicles. Like you, I have more than one vehicle I'd like to protect.
If you don’t want to move it you would have to get a CarLock for every vehicle.
But if you only want to buy one, yes you can switch it between vehicles
hi when attached to car battery what inline fuse would you recommend ? and if its attached to car battery will it drain it? many thanks bd
5 amp fuse is more than enough to cover just the CarLock.
There of course is some power draw but I haven’t had any issues.
For example with my truck I’ve left it sitting for 3 weeks and came home and she started right up.
@@WorkPlayDrive thanks bd much appreciated! take it easy bd
The voltage level is not adjustable, but the Carlock will continue to work at a low voltage, I got as low as 11.5. never took it further...
You must live somewhere were that the temperature is warm all year
Cool I just got this, haven't install it, but maybe somewhere in the back would be more better.
Will hard winds make alarm go off? I'm sure huh?
Nope more aggressive shocks like closing the door or someone hitting the car will set it off. I’ve had no false alarms from wind or storms.
Agreed the front is the best place i found for mounting
Hi, recently my son had his catheter converter stolen from under his Honda CR-V. Will this alarm before incidents like this unfortunately happen?
That’s a tough one to answer. I’ve seen catalytic converters stolen and less than two minutes. There’s a video on RUclips showing a car pulling up cutting out the catalytic converter and back in the car driving off in one minute and 36 seconds.
All depends on how fast you react to that alarm and of course what you’re gonna do about it when it goes off.
😂
Will this work If your phone is 4g but your challenger is 3g...
Your phone is connecting to the CarLock online service so as long as your phone has Internet service you’re good to go
@@WorkPlayDrive cool...thanks man
Is there a way to change the alert sound for vibration detected? Right now it's just a beep for me. I want it to be the alarm sound like it is for everything else. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
On the iPhone it’s default to the obnoxious alarms sound. Do you have an android?
@@WorkPlayDrive I'm on android. I figured it out. The older phone I was using didn't have a sounds app for the carlock app to connect to to change the sounds. I tried on a newer phone with a newer android version and I can change the sounds now. Still weird it doesn't default to the alarm sound. Thanks for your reply
If your having alarms when trickle charging why not just put it in battery storage mode through unconnect
Hey I have a question how do you hook up your battery maintainer? Directly to the battery negative and positive or in the front engine bay to the positive terminal and negative to the chassis? Worried about messing up the electronics in the car.
I used the front positive terminal and the front body ground just below it. I had no issues using the battery tender plus for a few years. amzn.to/3S7HCEf
Thank you!
hi thanks for the great info, can you use this along with the tazer? many thanks bd
Yep but you will want to use the power port adapter amzn.to/3RXcJ4Q
This will free up your OBD ii port for the Tazer.
@@WorkPlayDrive thank you, i do have the double bypass so tazer is in the trunk, so my front obd2 is free would that work or do i still need the power cable one? many thanks bd
Nope if you’ve got the double bypass you only need the adapter if you want to hide the CarLock somewhere
@@WorkPlayDrive great many thanks and keep up the vids very helpful, i got brought a 2018 dodge challenger 6.4 scat pack, before my dad passed so its my prise possention but dont know alot about them but your vids are a great help many thanks bd
Sorry about your dad 😢, I lost mine a few years ago it’s tough.
Is something wrong with the Carlock App? It stopped working yesterday while on the highway and it says I am still on the highway even though the car is infront of my house.
No issues in NJ I’m guessing maybe lost connection or bad service 🤔. Did your app correct itself?
@@WorkPlayDrive I contacted carlock and they told me to unplug it for a couple hours and then plug it back in. I did it and it works again, I almost had a heart attack thinking someone was on the highway with my car lol!
Oh man I hate false alarms. I once had my Nest smoke detector tell me there was a fire in my living room while I was at work. 😱
Thankfully I had cameras, but all my smoke detectors were going off for hours till I got home. 😏
My car on E85 and with this and manual bro you have to sit in the car for at least 15 minutes for it to warm up or it’ll stall on cold start
Car start is triggered by the jump in voltage. 12v at rest and 14+ when running.
Nope sorry not for a charger
Hi ,and very nice review 😊
i have one question and I would be grateful if you could answer me if you know of course . having it in the special case of your car and for some reason you have to be absent for 4...5 days. Does it consume your car battery? is there a chance I'll run out of battery? thanks in advance
I’ve traveled and left the car for over 10 days without issue.
@@WorkPlayDrive thanx a lot 😊
Thank you

Hi there! Great review btw definitely helped me with my decision on to getting this product for my car. Quick question I’ve never had to hook up anything to an always on circuit board I was wonder if you can help me out onto connecting everything the way you did it with your challenger?
Did you find a place to mount it and how to plug it up?
Is CarLock running on the 3g network? Would there be a 4g LTE option in the plan?
3g is no longer supported only 4g LTE
Merci pour votre vidéo ☺️
🙃
I get my notifications quickly usually under 15-30 seconds
The CarLock tag is the only product that annoys me with 6 month battery changes.
Best thing I can recommend is try it from Amazon. The free month and amazon return eliminates the risk.
@@WorkPlayDrive I agree. Its tempting. I may break down and try it.
@@WorkPlayDrive that is fantastic to know
LMAO Optional child sled.
This would be good idea to pull a prank on someone’s car. 😆
If they want the car, they will get it.
The OEM option is also subscription based. CarLock has additional features not offered by the OEM services.
Drone vs Carlock?
😆😆😆
Don’t like the “pay for delay”
30 seconds is standard…it costs a lot more for a 15 second delay.
This means a criminal gets a 30 second head start on you.
Unfortunately, the company has terrible technical support hopefully you won't need their assistance.
When I test product I often contact their support directly and they answered my questions pretty quickly. What happened with your support instance?
So far it sucks, don’t even get me started
What’s sucks? 🫥
@@WorkPlayDrive CarLock, imo, too delayed
If it’s ight out of the box, you gotta give it a few days of driving to kind of home in according to their app. After that mines been pretty spot on notifications come within 10 to 15 seconds.
If this continues definitely reach out to Support they are really cool and responsive
VERY FREAKING GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I GOT IT ALL THE FIRST GO AROUND,,, AND THATS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU. NOW,,,,,I LIKE IT ,,,,""BUTT"""!!

Hey dude! Great video as always. Super informative, extremely well produced and excellent quality.
I was wondering if one of the Z Automotive Double Bypass kits would work to install this in the trunk of a Charger? This would be in addition to a TaZer already installed.
It will work but it's not necessary to spend that much on the connector, the Carlock only needs power so this Power connector is a better option - amzn.to/2ZUkW4f
@@WorkPlayDrive Awesome, thanks!
