I honestly appreciate you showing this. So many lifestyle youtubers who do "clean with me" type videos are like "ugh my house is a DISASTER"... when there's barely any mess at all.. It's so disheartening and makes me feel like a failure. So it's nice to know I'm not alone.

I am about to turn 49 and my kids are 13 and 10. I am JUST NOW getting to the point of seeing progress! I have been a slob my entire life. I am so glad you figured this out while your kids are still little because boy, mine have been digging their heels in during my transformation lol!!! Don’t get inspired, get busy. Fly lady is based on 15 minutes and Zone cleaning. We just have to put on our cleaning shoes and put in the time. I find myself getting easily distracted - start in room One, go to another to either get something or put in that room and then start a chore in room Two. 🙃🤪 Not judging, I need to re-embrace Flylady system.
I so appreciate your sharing the before n after of your home it’s encouraging to see it can be done. I have 27 years worth of stuff plus a craft business that I’m not doing anymore storing in my house. Been watching the minimal mom which has helped me get started. Awe I love this! I have a friend of mine that was so embarrassed of her messy house all the time that I literally took her to mine to show her that we were kindred spirits and that she NEVER had to apologise to me about that. It made her feel better to see my house in ruins too. I've been trying to do better but lately I have been letting my children learn how to clean so it of course is not "mom" clean anymore.

You stated that you hated the bookshelf in the living room... Hang it in the pantry or pop it under the hanging shelf tucked in the back corner. It would be a great way to get stuff organized and off the floor. Or hang it in your laundry room and have a lost sock bin, hangers, cleaners , softeners, and seasonal wear. Or use the shelf in your entry way to organize kids shoes, adult shoes, extra baby bag, and kids school gear. In our home we have a basket with each person's initials that holds one pair of shoes , one pair of sandals, and several pairs of socks. This makes getting out the door easier in the mornings. If you hang a lovely set of hooks for you adults, then hang one that is three feet off the ground so little ones can start learning that they need to help by hanging their own stuff up. This is my first video and I'm subscribing to watch how you grow!!!!
You look much happier and healthier now. I am at your first video now. Growing up I was an organized child. Because I lived in chaos. When I got married I was still organized just a clean freak and germaphobe. I went through being unappreciated, depressed, and finally I am so through and done with this world I deserve to be organized again. For myself. So that's how I got to your video. I’m much older than you and I wish I had discovered this way of cleaning many years ago. My babies are now grown but I am still challenged with organizing my stuff. I’ve followed Diane in Denmark for over a year now and I’ve improved but I have much more work to do. I’m still in the process of decluttering believe it or not. I guess it’s an ongoing process. Those women work hard, whether you believe it or not,I grew up in a house where there was 9 people living in it and that house better get and stay clean before after and during mom or dad was home especially if you want to have fun on weekends people were always suprise when they came over.
It's like a diet/weight loss video from someone who stayed always skinny 😂 to have been always tidy is just as admirable as that. But often they don't seem to know the shame of having a messy home.
I really had not realized that there were other people, women who felt like I do! Almost word for word you were reciting what I have thought and said to my friends. Because of you and Erica Lucas I am grasping a better understanding of my situation, becoming motivated to begin decluttering my home minamising our belongings, and create a sanctuary! My husband deserves it, I want it and our family needs this home to be more peaceful and less chaotic! Thank you for the information and insight and enthusiasm!

This is the first of your videos I've seen. My house is worse🤦♀️. Then again I don't live near family, I have 2 kids under 2, and a husband at work 12 hours every day. That said, this video has probably given me more hope then any other I've seen
Most of the clutter is stuff my parents forced on us when they moved across the country. It's been really hard to get motivated to go through all the 20-30 boxes of junk,anf its only gotten worse the last 4 years, but I'm working on it. I feel a little more motivated lately.

I had learn how to be very organized in USAF....so my org style went from chaos to creatively organized for 23+ years ....then after a long distance move back to home on the east coast, a long grueling divorce and several,serious long term family illnesses...i have never really recovered from the move 6 years ago! I unpacked almost everything...then family member become very ill...and another grave illness...and every time that happen d -all work in my house stopped...boxes everywhere, boxes half empty, piles on top of piles trying tp look for something specific...became a chaotic nightmare ....that i am just now getting back to where i hope i can finally get it all completely unpacked and put away! And it is so true that when stuff is effectively organized it ssoo much more peaceful! Congrats on all u have accomplished!

I live alone with 3 rescue dogs and my house still gets messy! Good job! Your kitchen looks great. I broke a hip a couple of years ago, and got really behind so now I'm on a mission too to get my things in order. It takes time especially when you're dealing with some medical issues. The thing is not to give up and throw in the towel! Even short periods of time everyday helps.
This is what I've been needing and praying for! I've been struggling with creating a routine and trying to figure out how to keep house. I knew the basics of cleaning but somehow "tidy" has eluded me and most of all, I want better for my kids. I'm almost 40 and it drives me insane that I can't keep tidy enough for unexpected company or even comfortable living day to day. SINCERELY, thank you!
When I was in grad school at age 35 with 2 grade school youngsters and a traveling spouse I devised a system to never leave a room without checking for and taking whatever was in that room that should be in the room I was going to (if that makes sense?). I had to be efficient with my time in order to attend class, study, keep house, do kid things and be there for hubby. For example, if I was coming downstairs from my bedroom I brought the laundry basket, if it was full, to the laundry room and immediately started a load of laundry. Face it, much laundry with modern fabrics and detergent does not need to be sorted if washed on cool or warm water. I did sort heavy clothes like jeans. While I was in the laundry room I checked the dryer and folded clothes ready for the basket to return upstairs. I left the return trip laundry basket at the foot of the stairs where the next household member going upstairs took the basket and its contents to a designated bedroom for the owner to put away. When I left the house for the garage I maybe took the trash out then too. If I was reading the newspaper and finished it I placed it next to the door leading to the recycling container. Simple steps like this helped me stay calmer during stressful times like exam periods. It was a constant vigilance of what doesn’t belong here at this time, should I take it where I am going? Gradually rooms became mostly uncluttered and organized. I realize now as I am distracted by so many electronic gadgets how efficient I was then.
Good job! Isn’t it something how we look back and now can’t imaging living like that anymore - I know my home was like yours when my children were young. . . . Now it looks tidy in 90% of the areas and closets. I feel happier, tidy things, and get on with my day feeling I can then focus on my work day as an empty nester. When I return home it is joyful to enter, start dinner, and then enjoy the evening before I do my before bed routines. Life is so much better. Go YOU!

This is the first Flylady video I have seen. I have no idea what the Flylady system is, so most of it was lost on me in terms of translation, or the process of how the system worked in each room she showed. Sometimes it pays to do a little recap of what is being addressed, so there is a context as we watch the videos. Some of us were not here from the beginning.
Your story & your “before” house are EXACTLY mine- down to the not cleaning the bathroom for months & calling mom in tears for help. Everyone shows how to organize a clean house but you can’t organize a dump.I’m gonna do Flylady baby steps and I Subscribed!
It is good you give a real confession. Most habits people have today are rooted in things they used from young and as time go on it keep adding up. As a child and teenager my mom never allow us to eat in any areas of the house unless it is the kitchen or dining room. Beds must made, clean up on before bed. Everything had its home and neat. These are some habits that transfer to adulthood. It is good to see yo have a handle. Rules I live as a child. Laundry done every week, separate colours and things. Declutter a lot, put away stuff, make up beds, wear clean under clothes, no tears in clothes, no dirty dishes in sink , no eating in bedrooms and no animals in the house. Good job.
The FlyLady system works. I did it in 2007-2008 and got super tidy, clean and organized. Unfortunately, I went through a series of stressful events in a few consecutive years that followed and my focus shifted to my problems. As a result, I was back to living in CHAOS. Things have been much calmer lately so I'm getting back on track. Thank you for reminding me how I did it. I will be checking out the website now.

Thank you so much for being real. You have done a great job. I am struggling to get the FlyLady down but you have shown me that little by little it can be done.
Little by little is the key! Every time I tried to implement her whole system at once, I got overwhelmed, threw up my hands and walked away. Then something FINALLY clicked, and I started just swishing and swiping the bathroom. Then I started setting a timer. Not always doing exactly what Flylady would do, but doing SOMETHING for 15 minutes -- usually the thing that was bugging me most at the time. Gradually I added in more elements of her system, and over time, they're making such a HUGE difference!
Incredible and sooo inspiring! I remember when I saw your first videos and I was afraid you might give up. I didn’t want you to raise your kids in the loving (yet frustrating) chaos my children grew up in. Now I have all teens, and we are finally feeling the peace that comes with routines. As I’ve mentioned before in my comments, I unfortunately still have a long road ahead (haven’t moved in 20 years) but there is light at the end of the tunnel. You are exactly what I’ve been searching for! I have watched countless RUclips videos of people tidying and organising their houses but they are all people who are naturally tidy and organised in the first place. My house is a tip! I am not naturally tidy or organised in any way at all! I try so hard but it just seems the harder I try the more difficult it becomes. We have a similar lady in the uk to the Fly Lady called The Organised Mum. She’s fab and I know her system works but I just needed to find someone to watch on here that is like me, not a natural tidy or organised person but who has turned their life around. I just needed to see with my own eyes that it can be done. Thank you so much for posting this. This will be a huge help because I now know that I can do it and I won’t get overwhelmed by all the people that show their beautiful homes that have probably always looked beautiful. You have been a huge inspiration and a huge boost xx

The sock basket! Consider getting a different color or fit of sock for each kid. My son has black ankle socks, my daughter has white ankle socks, my toddler has white short crew cut socks. This eliminates matching, and if you lose one, you'll never know because there are plenty more like it in the drawer. My kids can sort and fold their own laundry and they know whose socks are whose easily and can throw them in their drawer.
All three of my kids can wear the same size sock. So I buy 30 pairs of black ankle socks at a time 🤣 I realize one day they will be in different sizes and then I will have to probably do what you said with each kid has their own color
I’m so glad you’ve catalogued your journey! I’m a FlyBaby and basically started out with a house just like yours. I’ve begun by modifying the WHB hour so I do a little each day and work on routines, plus some Zone decluttering when/if I can. It’s been just a week, and already the difference is huge. My whole family is (sadly) in awe-we can have people just pop over with no prep because the house is presentable. No more C.H.A.O.S., and I really hope to keep it that way. I’m sick of panic cleaning in my life. We still have lots of decluttering to do, and it’ll take a great amount of time to be honest. But it’s what I want to do, for sure. Anyway, I realize this video is old, but it’s new to me and I’m getting so much inspiration from you!

Because of the Covid lockdown, my household went from one person and 3 cats to three people, three cats and a dog (the dog died because of a neurological disease that paralyzed her) A lot of the things that adorned the space in my living room are now in my bedroom, and the chaos I had conquered is leering at me from every corner! This video is a timely reminder that small steps make long journeys possible... I don't have to be perfect, and all I need to do is just start where I am. So... it's 6:00 in the morning right now, I've had my breakfast and meds, and I get to rewrite those routines on my heart... love ya, young lady. Keep up the good work!... and that's for me too! Steph you inspire me. I watch your videos and end up taking my Chromebook with me to the kitchen to clean as I listen to you. I am more than twice your age and don't move as fast but I am retired and have more time to do it so it balances out for me. Please keep doing these videos, I love your enthusiasm and spark!
My house has rooms FULL of junk. Not always bad stuff, a lot are things that are still good but we don't use. It's disgusting and I wish it wasn't that way. My mom has been basically hoarding stuff for as long as I remember and it has effected me to the point that I can't keep my own spaces clean. Right now, I'm living in a college dorm, but my room at home is so so messy with clothes and stuff all over. Lately, I've been getting into minimalism and such, so I'm excited to get to clean up my room and hopefully keep it that way.
Spend your time decluttering first and it will make cleanup a lot easier. Flyladys fling boogie is great for that. She's got some great ideas for declutting.
Hard when it’s family. I have someone in my life who buys stuff from thrift stores that we don’t need or want every single week she’s bringing more garbage around.
I think that is awesome you're trying to embrace minimalism I wish I would have embraced it before starting a family. I come from a family of pack rats I use the word pack rats because hoarders just sounds scary. I think all of us have struggle letting go I wish I would have accumulated so many things to begin with in my life. I've made a lot of great changes doing really good a couple years ago but so Since then has crept back in. I did find a system that worked great for me but then I went and had another baby and need to reach week things and restart. Just work on you and your stuff. You can do it whether you come from a hoarding background or not. embrace the simplicity now it will make your life a whole lot easier as time goes on!

This was the video that hooked and reeled me back into the Fly Lady system via the Secret Slob. I always left the house in a total wreck when leaving for vacation. And packing took me all day, because I’d have to clean and pack at the same time. Thank you for your complete honesty! This has made such a difference for me the past six months!!!
Adding 4 tall laundry hampers will help with your family laundry. Darks/jeans,towels, colors, whites. Sheets can be washed the same day they are taken off the beds. This will allow you to do a load a day using whatever bin is full .
Lori G. I sort by color and weight which sounds complicated but it's not. Heavy stuff like towels and jeans in one load. Light weight anything in another. For both, every color except white, beige and baby pink in another. Cold gentle for everything except sheets and towels. Air dry black, delicate and dry clean only. The only thing you can't put in a machine is wool, angora, silk and especially not RAYON. That shrinks more than wool.
Thank you for being real. I was a single mom who did shift work. Did the best I could be would get overwhelmed and just step over the mess to catch up with rest or other activities. Then it became a habit. The 5x5 system with a timer was amazing. Making my bed every morning was a game changer. Your honesty inspired myself, my now grown kids, and so many others. Thank you.

I started watching the FlyLady last Feb-Mar then found FlyLady Diane in Denmark in May and actually started following along. I am about to turn 49 and my kids are 13 and 10. I am JUST NOW getting to the point of seeing progress! I have been a slob my entire life. I am so glad you figured this out while your kids are still little because boy, mine have been digging their heels in during my transformation lol!!! Don’t get inspired, get busy. Fly lady is based on 15 minutes and Zone cleaning. We just have to put on our cleaning shoes and put in the time. I find myself getting easily distracted - start in room One, go to another to either get something or put in that room and then start a chore in room Two. 🙃🤪 Not judging, I need to re-embrace Flylady system.

I'm not completely flying but am sticking to many of the habits and I often catch myself saying put it where it goes before I even drop it. Thanx so much for your inspiration also.

Awe I love this! I have a friend of mine that was so embarrassed of her messy house all the time that I literally took her to mine to show her that we were kindred spirits and that she NEVER had to apologise to me about that. It made her feel better to see my house in ruins too. I've been trying to do better but lately I have been letting my children learn how to clean so it of course is not "mom" clean anymore.

You stated that you hated the bookshelf in the living room... Hang it in the pantry or pop it under the hanging shelf tucked in the back corner. It would be a great way to get stuff organized and off the floor. Or hang it in your laundry room and have a lost sock bin, hangers, cleaners , softeners, and seasonal wear. Or use the shelf in your entry way to organize kids shoes, adult shoes, extra baby bag, and kids school gear. In our home we have a basket with each person's initials that holds one pair of shoes , one pair of sandals, and several pairs of socks. This makes getting out the door easier in the mornings. If you hang a lovely set of hooks for you adults, then hang one that is three feet off the ground so little ones can start learning that they need to help by hanging their own stuff up.

I’m much older than you and I wish I had discovered this way of cleaning many years ago. My babies are now grown but I am still challenged with organizing my stuff. I’ve followed Diane in Denmark for over a year now and I’ve improved but I have much more work to do. I’m still in the process of decluttering believe it or not. I guess it’s an ongoing process. The beauty of the Flylady system is that you can always jump in and start. I’m happy to have discovered you. You’re a ray of sunshine. Thank you from Staten Island, New York!

Those women work hard, whether you believe it or not,I grew up in a house where there was 9 people living in it and that house better get and stay clean before after and during mom or dad was home especially if you want to have fun on weekends people were always suprise when they came over.
It's like a diet/weight loss video from someone who stayed always skinny 😂 to have been always tidy is just as admirable as that. But often they don't seem to know the shame of having a messy home.
I really had not realized that there were other people, women who felt like I do! Almost word for word you were reciting what I have thought and said to my friends. Because of you and Erica Lucas I am grasping a better understanding of my situation, becoming motivated to begin decluttering my home minamising our belongings, and create a sanctuary! My husband deserves it, I want it and our family needs this home to be more peaceful and less chaotic! Thank you for the information and insight and enthusiasm!

I 'met' flylady more then 10 years ago, and it changed my life in all aspects. Now I have my own system, but it is based on her principles. Lifesaver!
This is the first of your videos I've seen. My house is worse🤦♀️. Then again I don't live near family, I have 2 kids under 2, and a husband at work 12 hours every day. That said, this video has probably given me more hope then any other I've seen
You can do it. My mom live 10 hours away, and we had 2 under 2 when I started! Go easy on yourself and start little by little :)
The secret is to get rid of most of it. Keep only the necessary things.
Most of the clutter is stuff my parents forced on us when they moved across the country. It's been really hard to get motivated to go through all the 20-30 boxes of junk,anf its only gotten worse the last 4 years, but I'm working on it. I feel a little more motivated lately.

I had learn how to be very organized in USAF....so my org style went from chaos to creatively organized for 23+ years ....then after a long distance move back to home on the east coast, a long grueling divorce and several,serious long term family illnesses...i have never really recovered from the move 6 years ago! I unpacked almost everything...then family member become very ill...and another grave illness...and every time that happen d -all work in my house stopped...boxes everywhere, boxes half empty, piles on top of piles trying tp look for something specific...became a chaotic nightmare ....that i am just now getting back to where i hope i can finally get it all completely unpacked and put away! And it is so true that when stuff is effectively organized it ssoo much more peaceful!

I live alone with 3 rescue dogs and my house still gets messy! Good job! Your kitchen looks great. I broke a hip a couple of years ago, and got really behind so now I'm on a mission too to get my things in order. It takes time especially when you're dealing with some medical issues. The thing is not to give up and throw in the towel! Even short periods of time everyday helps.

This is what I've been needing and praying for! I've been struggling with creating a routine and trying to figure out how to keep house. I knew the basics of cleaning but somehow "tidy" has eluded me and most of all, I want better for my kids. I'm almost 40 and it drives me insane that I can't keep tidy enough for unexpected company or even comfortable living day to day. SINCERELY, thank you!
When I was in grad school at age 35 with 2 grade school youngsters and a traveling spouse I devised a system to never leave a room without checking for and taking whatever was in that room that should be in the room I was going to (if that makes sense?). I had to be efficient with my time in order to attend class, study, keep house, do kid things and be there for hubby. For example, if I was coming downstairs from my bedroom I brought the laundry basket, if it was full, to the laundry room and immediately started a load of laundry. Face it, much laundry with modern fabrics and detergent does not need to be sorted if washed on cool or warm water. I did sort heavy clothes like jeans. While I was in the laundry room I checked the dryer and folded clothes ready for the basket to return upstairs. I left the return trip laundry basket at the foot of the stairs where the next household member going upstairs took the basket and its contents to a designated bedroom for the owner to put away. When I left the house for the garage I maybe took the trash out then too. If I was reading the newspaper and finished it I placed it next to the door leading to the recycling container. Simple steps like this helped me stay calmer during stressful times like exam periods. It was a constant vigilance of what doesn’t belong here at this time, should I take it where I am going? Gradually rooms became mostly uncluttered and organized. I realize now as I am distracted by so many electronic gadgets how efficient I was then.
Good job! Isn’t it something how we look back and now can’t imaging living like that anymore - I know my home was like yours when my children were young. . . . Now it looks tidy in 90% of the areas and closets. I feel happier, tidy things, and get on with my day feeling I can then focus on my work day as an empty nester. When I return home it is joyful to enter, start dinner, and then enjoy the evening before I do my before bed routines. Life is so much better. Go YOU!

I have no idea what the Flylady system is, so most of it was lost on me in terms of translation, or the process of how the system worked in each room she showed. Sometimes it pays to do a little recap of what is being addressed, so there is a context as we watch the videos. Some of us were not here from the beginning.

Your story & your “before” house are EXACTLY mine- down to the not cleaning the bathroom for months & calling mom in tears for help. Everyone shows how to organize a clean house but you can’t organize a dump.I’m gonna do Flylady baby steps and I Subscribed!

It is good you give a real confession. Most habits people have today are rooted in things they used from young and as time go on it keep adding up.
As a child and teenager my mom never allow us to eat in any areas of the house unless it is the kitchen or dining room. Beds must made, clean up on before bed. Everything had its home and neat. These are some habits that transfer to adulthood.
It is good to see yo have a handle.
Rules I live as a child. Laundry done every week, separate colours and things. Declutter a lot, put away stuff, make up beds, wear clean under clothes, no tears in clothes, no dirty dishes in sink , no eating in bedrooms and no animals in the house.

The FlyLady system works. I did it in 2007-2008 and got super tidy, clean and organized. Unfortunately, I went through a series of stressful events in a few consecutive years that followed and my focus shifted to my problems. As a result, I was back to living in CHAOS. Things have been much calmer lately so I'm getting back on track. Thank you for reminding me how I did it. I will be checking out the website now.

Little by little is the key! Every time I tried to implement her whole system at once, I got overwhelmed, threw up my hands and walked away. Then something FINALLY clicked, and I started just swishing and swiping the bathroom. Then I started setting a timer. Not always doing exactly what Flylady would do, but doing SOMETHING for 15 minutes -- usually the thing that was bugging me most at the time. Gradually I added in more elements of her system, and over time, they're making such a HUGE difference!

Incredible and sooo inspiring! I remember when I saw your first videos and I was afraid you might give up. I didn’t want you to raise your kids in the loving (yet frustrating) chaos my children grew up in. Now I have all teens, and we are finally feeling the peace that comes with routines. As I’ve mentioned before in my comments, I unfortunately still have a long road ahead (haven’t moved in 20 years) but there is light at the end of the tunnel. You are exactly what I’ve been searching for! I have watched countless RUclips videos of people tidying and organising their houses but they are all people who are naturally tidy and organised in the first place. My house is a tip! I am not naturally tidy or organised in any way at all! I try so hard but it just seems the harder I try the more difficult it becomes. We have a similar lady in the uk to the Fly Lady called The Organised Mum. She’s fab and I know her system works but I just needed to find someone to watch on here that is like me, not a natural tidy or organised person but who has turned their life around. I just needed to see with my own eyes that it can be done. Thank you so much for posting this. This will be a huge help because I now know that I can do it and I won’t get overwhelmed by all the people that show their beautiful homes that have probably always looked beautiful. You have been a huge inspiration and a huge boost xx

The sock basket! Consider getting a different color or fit of sock for each kid. My son has black ankle socks, my daughter has white ankle socks, my toddler has white short crew cut socks. This eliminates matching, and if you lose one, you'll never know because there are plenty more like it in the drawer. My kids can sort and fold their own laundry and they know whose socks are whose easily and can throw them in their drawer.
All three of my kids can wear the same size sock. So I buy 30 pairs of black ankle socks at a time 🤣 I realize one day they will be in different sizes and then I will have to probably do what you said with each kid has their own color
I’m so glad you’ve catalogued your journey! I’m a FlyBaby and basically started out with a house just like yours. I’ve begun by modifying the WHB hour so I do a little each day and work on routines, plus some Zone decluttering when/if I can. It’s been just a week, and already the difference is huge. My whole family is (sadly) in awe-we can have people just pop over with no prep because the house is presentable. No more C.H.A.O.S., and I really hope to keep it that way. I’m sick of panic cleaning in my life. We still have lots of decluttering to do, and it’ll take a great amount of time to be honest. But it’s what I want to do, for sure.

Because of the Covid lockdown, my household went from one person and 3 cats to three people, three cats and a dog
(the dog died because of a neurological disease that paralyzed her) A lot of the things that adorned the space in my living room are now in my bedroom, and the chaos I had conquered is leering at me from every corner! This video is a timely reminder that small steps make long journeys possible... I don't have to be perfect, and all I need to do is just start where I am. So... it's 6:00 in the morning right now, I've had my breakfast and meds, and I get to rewrite those routines on my heart... love ya, young lady. Keep up the good work!... and that's for me too! Lol

My house has rooms FULL of junk. Not always bad stuff, a lot are things that are still good but we don't use. It's disgusting and I wish it wasn't that way. My mom has been basically hoarding stuff for as long as I remember and it has effected me to the point that I can't keep my own spaces clean. Right now, I'm living in a college dorm, but my room at home is so so messy with clothes and stuff all over.
Lately, I've been getting into minimalism and such, so I'm excited to get to clean up my room and hopefully keep it that way.
FlyLady.com has a student control journal. So helpful for students!
Spend your time decluttering first and it will make cleanup a lot easier. Flyladys fling boogie is great for that. She's got some great ideas for declutting.

I think that is awesome you're trying to embrace minimalism I wish I would have embraced it before starting a family. I come from a family of pack rats I use the word pack rats because hoarders just sounds scary. I think all of us have struggle letting go I wish I would have accumulated so many things to begin with in my life. I've made a lot of great changes doing really good a couple years ago but so Since then has crept back in. I did find a system that worked great for me but then I went and had another baby and need to reach week things and restart. Just work on you and your stuff. You can do it whether you come from a hoarding background or not. embrace the simplicity now it will make your life a whole lot easier as time goes on!

This was the video that hooked and reeled me back into the Fly Lady system via the Secret Slob. I always left the house in a total wreck when leaving for vacation. And packing took me all day, because I’d have to clean and pack at the same time. Thank you for your complete honesty! This has made such a difference for me the past six months!!!
Adding 4 tall laundry hampers will help with your family laundry. Darks/jeans,towels, colors, whites. Sheets can be washed the same day they are taken off the beds. This will allow you to do a load a day using whatever bin is full

Lori G. I sort by color and weight which sounds complicated but it's not. Heavy stuff like towels and jeans in one load. Light weight anything in another. For both, every color except white, beige and baby pink in another. Cold gentle for everything except sheets and towels. Air dry black, delicate and dry clean only. The only thing you can't put in a machine is wool, angora, silk and especially not RAYON. That shrinks more than wool.
Thank you for being real. I was a single mom who did shift work. Did the best I could be would get overwhelmed and just step over the mess to catch up with rest or other activities. Then it became a habit. The 5x5 system with a timer was amazing. Making my bed every morning was a game changer. Your honesty inspired myself, my now grown kids, and so many others. Thank you.

Our stories of where we started before we decided to change are so similar: prekids vs post-kids, calling mom, etc!!! Thanks for sharing (and yeah...the bathroom confession....was true for me too. Yeck, but hooray for new habits!) My channel was born out of the relief and excitement that comes from seeing the light climbing out of overwhelm. So happy to have found your channel!

I'm just finding your channel now! I have to say thank you for it. During quarantine, I looked around and realized that my apartment was an absolute disaster, so I started looking for cleaning tips. My apartment is now so much better! And I really appreciate the honesty and realness in your channel.
Sweetness give yourself a break! What you see now shows how much you can now see. Before, you could not "see" all the stuff, which is why it was that way. As for the laundry room, You can now see the floor! That is Major, Major!! Job well done!

I've been on the Fly Lady journey for 1 1/2 years. It is amazing how as I declutter and put things in their place, the more I find to declutter! Cleaning is a breeze now!

I came to flylady during a burnout, too much work and no time and energy left... now it is much better, and decluttering really installs harmony and peace in your home.

You're doing great, momma! I was starting to feel out of control and I also hate cleaning so I started getting rid of stuff. And now I can handle cleaning because I have way fewer things to clean. I can also include the children more because they no longer feel so overwhelmed either. I love your kitchen! Looking forward to seeing more
Been enjoying your journey - GREAT Progress! I feel very similar - as far as What a difference a year makes! I started watching the FlyLady last Feb-Mar then found FlyLady Diane in Denmark in May and actually started following along. I feel like this time next year I will really have my home including the garage in great shape, but I'm very pleased with this year's progress! Can't wait to see what's next!

I've just started flylady last month. You are giving me hope!!! With 3 kids I feel like I'm DROWNING in stuff. Ugh!!! I'm already seeing a difference and I can barely get the morning, Afternoon and evening routines down, let alone the zones and all the other stuff. Thanks again for your honesty!
