One item to add is that, especially for working moms, the weekly home blessing can be split up over the week if they dont have time just on Monday. Thank you again for all you do for us. Today is my FlyLady ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY!! I’m so grateful for this system. It has improved every aspect of my home life. With 4 kids (ages 8-17), it has been a godsend. A word to the newbies: I spent the first 10 months JUST getting my daily routines down pat. In fact, the only routine I did for the first 6 weeks was shining my sink at night before bed. It’s all that I could handle at that point in my life. And it has only been in the past two months that I’ve been able to add zone cleaning. There is no “one way” to the FlyLady system. Marla Cilly (the FlyLady) always says that housework done incompletely still blesses your family.

I found the Fly Lady years ago when I was still married and a stay at home mom. Her system worked great for me then. I used it (combined with other things) to maintain my home. It worked great. I haven't had a system since before 2014 and it shows. I promised myself that I would find a way to make it work as a single, working mom of four. Part of my plan is to put the kids to work to complete some of these tasks! ❤️. Your video helped a lot! I just needed a quick template to get started again!

FANTASTIC video!!! I’m struggling right now because I’m spending lots of time at my sister’s house, and coming home for a day or two to keep up with the yard. So I’m home enough that it still needs some cleaning, but my usual Flylady routines don’t fit right now. While listening to you, I came up with a way to try the routines in a way that will keep up with the basic things. Your consistent reminders that we need to build routines that fit our own house and schedule are so encouraging!!! Thank you!!! ❤️

Finally getting my house cleaned thanks to your videos. In another video you talked about breaking up the Weekly Home Blessing into 10 minutes 6 days a week and I love doing it that way. I was already doing something like that but adding the zone cleaning alongside and making it strictly 10 minutes means I actually get things done and I'm not so sweaty and tired that I never want to clean again lol.

Instead of feeling overwhelmed about having to clean the whole house, this system breaks the work down in very manageable segments. Hubby has been jumping on board, too! Ok this is the first time I’ve ever heard of the fly lady system! I’ve been a full time mum for over 4 years and I quite often feel like things are chaotic and I feel so overwhelmed and mad at myself that I can’t keep my house in order to my standards. I’m so excited there’s this info available. I’m gonna get started on a routine! Yay!
I love this breakdown. We recently moved and still have things to unpack and put away. I feel kind of overwhelmed and I work 5 days a week outside the home. Thank you for giving me a great plan to start over! I have used the FlyLady system for many, many years and it’s so fun to get things into a routine and keep up with everything.
Thanks so much for doing & sharing all of this. I got frustrated with the FlyLady System & quit. I got really behind on the house & I’m going to try out your worksheets & tweek it to work for me. The thing that got me to try it again was you mentioning that it takes you a couple of cycles to check everything off in a zone & that it takes you about two months to zone clean the entire house. Sometimes I spend so much time doing chores, I don’t get the Blessing Hour or Zone Cleaning. I still got check marks today & it’s much better than this morning & I went to the pool. I’ll just pick up tomorrow.
I looked at the website and her videos. The website is chaotic and there are 2.2 thousand videos. I wanted a simple list of what to do and how to break them down over each day and each week. This helps, thank you. I meal plan once a month (no prep) for the whole month. I find that extremely helpful!

Sisters are great, aren't they? I have a confession. Living in an apartment in NYC, my air conditioning is through-the-window AC units. Because of the virus and New York phased in opening, I could not have my units installed. (I sent them for cleaning last fall), until yesterday. And it was too hot and humid to do my zone cleaning. I tried, and in minutes I was drenched in sweat. There are some who might read this and say, "work out," but being drenched in sweat after 2 or 3 minutes of doing hardly anything physical is different than running and working up a sweat. The temperature in Central Park, away from pavement might say 87 degrees (high 20's), but on the streets, with black pavement radiating heat, it can be 15 degrees higher. SO, I didn't get to my zone cleaning. But now I can. I don't think I can completely finish my zone, but.... something is better than nothing.

Steph, this is a great video. One thing I find interesting about all the fly lady videos that I have watched is that it seems that everyone only takes 5 minutes to get ready in the morning! I’m a morning showerer, so it takes me a good 45 minutes to shower, dry my hair and minimal makeup. Isn’t it interesting how we are all so different? I want to thank you so much for your videos. They are definitely helping me and when I feel my motivation lagging, I just pick one and watch it to help!

Thanks for this video, I had never heard of the FlyLady system and will look into it more, but this was a great introduction. I have a daily routine that works fine, but I haven’t been able to get my regular bi-weekly housekeeper organized since January (repeat no-show and delays, then COVID19 (I’m high-risk, so I didn’t want anyone coming in until we knew more), then looking for and re-hiring someone. She is finally coming next Saturday, can’t wait to get my filthy house started on! I have a disability and have done my best to keep my kitchen and bathroom, mostly, up to a decent standard, but that’s about it. The real work is in training a new person, nearly all people willing to do this work here (San Francisco Bay Area), don’t speak English, so I decided to make a list/guidelines, with my laborious translation (my Spanish is as limited as her English), to keep on my computer, and update as needed. Things have been complicated here by not only the virus, but terrible heat waves, multiple wildfires causing unbearably smoky conditions and necessitating being ready to pack for evacuation, and power outages. Then, I got laid up with a foot injury two days ago! I’m trying to be super patient and soldier on until the blessed coolness of November arrives.🙂
I am looking for flylady buddies! The checklists are wonderful. Steph demonstrates how to do each step clearly. I am getting stronger in both my morning and evening routine. I need more support for the midday routine. I am retired and can do the routine at any point in the day…but I don’t do it at all! I am in EST, I just need someone to ‘bookend’, a quick email, text, (whatever you feel comfortable with) announcing start time, sharing what we are going to do, and then 15 minutes later an accounting of what was completed. I will work with more than one buddy, because there is always 15 minutes of something that needs to get done. There might be times when I can’t do a 15 with my buddy, but I can still ‘bookend’ to support them.

Hello Steph. I started to watch your videos on creating routines... you give a lot of good info. Like you say, not all applies because we all have diferent lives (i do not have kids - health issue). But I am married and I take care of my elderly grandma (she's mostly my mom). But anyway, for one that has a life like this - i am going to try to adjust to what I can do, because has been overwhelming lately. (emotionaly, physicaly, etc).... thank you. I THINK THE BIGGEST OBSTACLE IS JUST THINK AND WRITE IT DOWN AND DO IT... I basically do all like a robot.... Keep giving good tips. A big hug
The most valuable thing I learned about this system was the true fact that messes are rarely ever made in a single day. They come from many days of never taking the time to undo yesterday's mess. If you clean at least as much as you mess up, the problem is actually solved. Initially it starts out that I'm just staying on top of yesterday's mess, and grows into staying on top of today's mess as well. LOL Funny how I should have known that already. DUH. I added the free software Microsoft To Do and now I have a solid plan following the FlyLady method. Yeah for me!!!

Great video! I loved the sample day with total times. I saw another RUclipsr recently claim the FlyLady system didn't allow enough time to get/keep your house clean enough. I would love to see a video that focuses specifically on total time spent overall and why/why not you think it's enough.

The launch pad is just an area I put things that I'll need for tomorrow. At the moment my launch pad is a diaper bag! I just fill it withe anything I'll need so I know when I'm heading out the door the next day I have everything set to go!

I got really behind on the house & I’m going to try out your worksheets & tweek it to work for me. The thing that got me to try it again was you mentioning that it takes you a couple of cycles to check everything off in a zone & that it takes you about two months to zone clean the entire house.
Sometimes I spend so much time doing chores, I don’t get the Blessing Hour or Zone Cleaning. I still got check marks today & it’s much better than this morning & I went to the pool. I’ll just pick up tomorrow.
This system changed my life!
I looked at the website and her videos. The website is chaotic and there are 2.2 thousand videos. I wanted a simple list of what to do and how to break them down over each day and each week. This helps, thank you. I meal plan once a month (no prep) for the whole month. I find that extremely helpful!

Sisters are great, aren't they? I have a confession. Living in an apartment in NYC, my air conditioning is through-the-window AC units. Because of the virus and New York phased in opening, I could not have my units installed. (I sent them for cleaning last fall), until yesterday. And it was too hot and humid to do my zone cleaning. I tried, and in minutes I was drenched in sweat. There are some who might read this and say, "work out," but being drenched in sweat after 2 or 3 minutes of doing hardly anything physical is different than running and working up a sweat. The temperature in Central Park, away from pavement might say 87 degrees (high 20's), but on the streets, with black pavement radiating heat, it can be 15 degrees higher. SO, I didn't get to my zone cleaning. But now I can. I don't think I can completely finish my zone, but.... something is better than nothing.

Steph, this is a great video. One thing I find interesting about all the fly lady videos that I have watched is that it seems that everyone only takes 5 minutes to get ready in the morning! I’m a morning showerer, so it takes me a good 45 minutes to shower, dry my hair and minimal makeup. Isn’t it interesting how we are all so different? I want to thank you so much for your videos. They are definitely helping me and when I feel my motivation lagging, I just pick one and watch it to help!

Great explanation of what can be a confusing plan! My weakness has always been not setting a timer and lingering on WHB and Zone.
I think a lot of people have that issue....I am very strict about stopping when the timer goes off unless I'm in the middle of something messy!

Thanks for this video, I had never heard of the FlyLady system and will look into it more, but this was a great introduction. I have a daily routine that works fine, but I haven’t been able to get my regular bi-weekly housekeeper organized since January (repeat no-show and delays, then COVID19 (I’m high-risk, so I didn’t want anyone coming in until we knew more), then looking for and re-hiring someone. She is finally coming next Saturday, can’t wait to get my filthy house started on! I have a disability and have done my best to keep my kitchen and bathroom, mostly, up to a decent standard, but that’s about it. The real work is in training a new person, nearly all people willing to do this work here (San Francisco Bay Area), don’t speak English, so I decided to make a list/guidelines, with my laborious translation (my Spanish is as limited as her English), to keep on my computer, and update as needed. Things have been complicated here by not only the virus, but terrible heat waves, multiple wildfires causing unbearably smoky conditions and necessitating being ready to pack for evacuation, and power outages. Then, I got laid up with a foot injury two days ago! I’m trying to be super patient and soldier on until the blessed coolness of November arrives.🙂

I am looking for flylady buddies! The checklists are wonderful. Steph demonstrates how to do each step clearly. I am getting stronger in both my morning and evening routine.
I need more support for the midday routine. I am retired and can do the routine at any point in the day…but I don’t do it at all!
I am in EST, I just need someone to ‘bookend’, a quick email, text, (whatever you feel comfortable with) announcing start time, sharing what we are going to do, and then 15 minutes later an accounting of what was completed.
I will work with more than one buddy, because there is always 15 minutes of something that needs to get done. There might be times when I can’t do a 15 with my buddy, but I can still ‘bookend’ to support them.
You do such a great job of making the system uncomplicated!

I am always on and off the system, bit since I found your channel I have finally been able to understand it and keep on it! The secret is not beating up myself when I didn’t get to do all the tasks. It is true, daily routines is totally enough for a busy working mom with children. Like you say, not all applies because we all have diferent lives (i do not have kids - health issue). But I am married and I take care of my elderly grandma (she's mostly my mom). But anyway, for one that has a life like this - i am going to try to adjust to what I can do, because has been overwhelming lately. (emotionaly, physicaly, etc).... thank you. I THINK THE BIGGEST OBSTACLE IS JUST THINK AND WRITE IT DOWN AND DO IT... I basically do all like a robot.... Keep giving good tips. A big hug

The most valuable thing I learned about this system was the true fact that messes are rarely ever made in a single day. They come from many days of never taking the time to undo yesterday's mess. If you clean at least as much as you mess up, the problem is actually solved. Initially it starts out that I'm just staying on top of yesterday's mess, and grows into staying on top of today's mess as well. LOL Funny how I should have known that already. DUH. I added the free software Microsoft To Do and now I have a solid plan following the FlyLady method. Yeah for me!!!

Great video! I loved the sample day with total times. I saw another RUclipsr recently claim the FlyLady system didn't allow enough time to get/keep your house clean enough. I would love to see a video that focuses specifically on total time spent overall and why/why not you think it's enough.

The launch pad is just an area I put things that I'll need for tomorrow. At the moment my launch pad is a diaper bag! I just fill it withe anything I'll need so I know when I'm heading out the door the next day I have everything set to go!
